"What?" asks Kieran looking up at her. He looks down at the punch. "Why?" He takes it and drinks it anyway. A trusting sort, he is, except now he doesn't know who to trust. The cool drink calms him somewhat, and he takes a few deep breaths. "How many people are missing?"

Theron shakes his head. "I came alone. Still, we should help try to find them. Who knows what other shenanigans might happen if they aren't found." He pauses and watches her. "What are you doing?"

Male vamp spoke up, but seeing as she had red hair not white, Grendell promptly ignored him. She had her own concerns since seduction wasn't working out well and now her mother was missing.

Briefly, she looked up at the pae on the table trying to lead the party. A soft snort displayed her feelings on the male and his ideas. Running around like chickens? As if. He wanted her to help him, he'd need to do much more then stand on a table as if that was interesting.

Wishing she had her weapon, the young nymph regretted the idea not to bring it. She should have gone with warrior princess. Picking up a convent broken violin, she glanced once more at the 'brave' forming search party.

Shaking her head, she used one hand to hold the front of her dress up for ease of movement while the other held the instrument. Taking the first door nearest to where her mother was, she started walking. While moving, she hit the floor with the heel of her foot searching a sound difference. If there were trap doors or hidden stairs, this seemed the best way to find them. Her real goal was the door, to get out of the ball room and start the search of the house form one end to the other.

When the lights went out, Takeko immediately froze in place on the dance floor. She was tense, unnerved...but knew that panicking was not what was useful in a situation like this. Instead, she stayed still, close to Aspen, and trying to use her other senses to figure out what was going on.

Oh, if only she'd had half Kane's abilities for a time like this.

After what seemed like an eternity of darkness, insecurity, and panicked Pae'il, the lights flickered back on. Somewhat distracted in surveying the 'damage,' Takeko managed to hear her mate's question and nodded absentmindedly. "Yes, dear, I'm fine," she muttered, looking about. There! Saffron seemed alright as well.

Saffron had managed to get a hand on the wall amidst the darkness and had refused to move after that. Now, he was glancing over as Texas climbed on a table and started addressing the crowd to keep calm and stay together. Smart.

At least he didn't seem as panicked and jittery as he had earlier. Good to know he wasn't like that all the time. Right? Err...

Wait, Aysu was missing? But she'd just been here a second ago! Quickly, Saffron scanned the crowd, relieved as his eyes met his mother's, and he quickly moved to join her and his father nearby. "Well, we're all still here at least. What in the world was that all about?"

"I have no idea," Takeko muttered, listening passively as another Elder crossed to speak to them. Alicia? She wasn't sure she knew this Pae, so why would...wait. She looked to Aspen questioningly. Had he mentioned an Alicia in his family before?

She was distracted by a young voice shouting over the crowd, which reminded her of something she'd heard just before the lights went out. Looking worried all over again, eyes wide and scanning the mass of Pae'il once more, she muttered, "Oh no...has anyone seen Faroth?"

---

Eudora seemed particularly perplexed by the turn of events. Now the nice lady she'd been talking to about stealing a chair to climb on was gone! And what was all that darkness and crashing all about? Some new party game?

Considering the increasing number of Pae'il that seemed to be getting upset over this, that was seeming less and less likely. She sighed, the mystery of the paintings and what might lie behind them forgotten for now. There was a new curiosity vying for her attention. She'd heard the demon calling out instructions to the crowd, and while she was half listening, she wandered off to find someone that might know more about what was going on. She couldn't just...not know. It went against her very nature.

Seraphim sighed once the lights had gone out, merely holding onto his partner, debating spinning her into a dance once more. The fallen angel was not phased much by the disappearing of the pae, though he did wonder what exactly had happened to them.

"Lalita, did you by chance see what had happened?" He asked, looking at the red and white striped female in his arms once the lights had come back on. He didn't care much for the others around them, nor for the ones that had been kidnapped, that wasn't like him in the least. It was a good chance that he wasn't going to care if Cinna had been one of those who were missing. But then he would probably make an effort to find her since it would look bad against him.

Thara patted the faun reassuringly. "Looks like ten, maybe twelve. I didn't take a real count of everyone. You doing ok?" She watched the group break into various forms of chaos, some searching, some panicking, some standing like deer caught in headlights. This was going nowhere fast.

Stepping from the table, the slender fae cupped her hands together. Her clothing and hair started to rustle as if a wind blew threw them as they rode the energies gathered to the pae's body. "I beseech you, Ithilwen, mother moon. Lend me your strength in this time of need." Closing her eyes and stretching out her wings, Thara started to glow lightly as she pressed out her energy around her, trying to feel for the energies of those lost.

The light twisted into a dark red mist then disappeared abruptly. The girl fell to a crouch. "Damn it," she swore, irritated. Something here had a power that at this time surpassed her own meager conjurings. "That kidnapping b***h blocked me." The teen scowled as she stood, kicking a nearby chair. "DAMNIT DAMNIT! It's not fair!"

Kieran nods. "I...I will be as soon as we find Elizabeth. She's the closest thing I've got to a mother."

He watches as she calls together her power, and the blinks rapidly when she stops suddenly and curses. "Can I help with anything?" He looks up and around the room. "We won't get anything done unless we all band together. Maybe with everyone's various and sundry powers we can make some sense of this." He kicks a hoof against the floor softly. Not that his own magic was particularly useful indoors.

Kelebek approaches a distressed-looking girl. "Have you lost someone?" she asks. "I...I'm not much use for anything, but I'll be glad to help you look."

((I'll leave Jazz for after Aspen speaks.))

Anna-Maria nodded. "Yeah, I guess we could." She didn't really care. No one looked for her when she was gone and she was used to others that didn't much care about anything other then themselves. It was hard habit to break.

The demon was done when he asked her. "Ah, this is a map...it might lead us to where they are or it could lead to something else. I really can't control where it goes just that it leads to something." She shrugged wishing she could make it tell them where to go.

"I"m fine, how about you?" She asked Seth. What had happened? Were some of the other paes missing? Who could have taken them. Karma looked around and saw all the worried faces...she knew to worry as well, but Fate would lead them out of this trouble.

Woobie looked up to see who was hugging him, "Pastela?" No, it was Ama. "I don't know...but Pastela can't be gone long. Maybe we should search for the missing people!" Woobie had turned to face all that was present. He could leave Pastela alone or with a horrible pae...or who knew what?

Aspen was thankful Takeko was ok. What would he have done if she hadn't been? Aspen turned his attention to Jazz, "Alicia was here?" He looked to his wife, "Alicia is my long-lost sister. She grew up off isle and came back a while ago." He looked down, he didn't even know his sister was here...what kind of brother was he? "Faroth is missing too? What's going on?"

Cinna had gripped Phim pretty tight when the lights went out. She wasn't too scared, but at the same time she would rather have Phim scare her than something else. Cinna shook her head, "No, too dark. Aysu's gone." She had noticed that weather she wanted to or not. That gave her pangs to worry and guilt. She closed her eyes and tried to forget the memories that were sweeping back to her.

Seth gave a small breath of relief, glad that Karma was alright. "Alright, I need to find my daughter...." Heaven help the Pae that got in the way of him and his darling daughter. Seth was not a violent man, but heads would be rolling if something ever befell her.

Ama hung to her uncle's sleeve. "I need to find my dad and Karma. I need to make sure they're ok." She looked up at him pleadingly, hoping that he would come with her to hunt down her dad.

Jazz nodded. "She was and then she wasn't." The elder thought it would be good to let him know even if they were estranged. She then looked to the crowd. "I'm willing to be in any group that wants me."

Takeko listened intently to the conversation, nodding slightly. A long-lost sister? Goodness...she never stopped learning new things about her love's family. Still, curiosity was no match for the worry she felt right now for the missing ones. "I don't know, Aspen, but I'm not sure we're going to find out standing here asking each other anymore. It hasn't helped thus far."

She was so wrapped up in the conversation, she was startled when another voice joined in to speak to her. Turning away from her mate and her son, she glanced towards the young woman who'd spoken. Nodding sadly to the pink and white Pae, she explained, "I'm afraid we have a couple of Pae who have gone missing. My new friend, Aysu, a brightly colored Naiad dressed as a belly dancer and err...my son's friend, Faroth. He's a young Faun and err...currently covered in dyed pine needles. Um...don't ask," she added quickly, trying not to smile given the gravity of the situation. "My love here...his sister has also vanished, but...I'm afraid I'm not sure exactly what she looks like," she explained awkwardly.

She reached out and patted the young lady's shoulder. "Any help would be appreciated though if you've seen them somewhere?" Takeko doubted it, considering they'd been nearby when the lights went out and had simply vanished from what she could tell. Still, she could hold out some small hope that they'd reappear elsewhere, right?

While initially upset, reason and rationale were returning to the angel. She'd dealt with plenty of emergencies and potential disaster situations while raising her children. While this may not have been exactly the same sort of situation, it required the same set of skills. A cool head and calm rational thinking.

"I think the best course of action is to start looking for our missing friends. Just make sure you stick with a group and don't go off alone. Just to be safe," she added, directing her comment to the entire group within earshot.

"I don't think I understand," says Theron. "How can you not know what the map leads to? You're the one who drew it, I watched you just now." He's curious now. Perhaps it was her magic or something. If it was, it could be such a help to the search effort.

He glances around to the small search groups forming. He thinks one larger, organized effort would be more effective, but perhaps smaller groups could cover more area.

"Alright," says Keleek, nodding. "Is it alright if I stay with you? I can help look, at least I'd be another pair of eyes." She smiles hopefully.

((Just a reminder, I'm going out of town today until Tuesday night. So, that means I won't be able to post until Wednesday. I'll catch up then! biggrin ))

Karma nodded and saw the target of his search near the door, with that pae named Woobie, "Over there, with Woobie." She remembered him from the monsoon. "But, where's Pastela?" Wasn't that who she saw him with at the time?

Wobbie looked around and pointed to her dad, "Over there. I must find Pastela!" He said he was very worried for her, "Do you think your Dad would help me look?"

"That is an excellent idea. Let's form search parties and start searching the isle." He looked at the group and smiled, "We must work together if we want to find out lost friends and family. Each group could take a different part of the isle. What do you all say?" Aspen knew that the only way this would get done is if they just started.

Jazz nodded and again said, "Sure and I'm up for any group. I can take the beaches and see if Hula Bob has seen or hear anything new his bar. He would know if something had changed." She nodded and looked around to see if anyone wanted to go with her.

"Well, it leads to something good. Anything anyone thinks is worth anything. So, it could be the Pae'il, gold or even a piece of hair someone want to keep. I can make the maps, but I can't make it go to something I want." She shrugged. Her power was a bit odd, but she wanted to help even if she wasn't sure it would. "Want to follow it and look?"

"Absolutely," says Theron. "I'm hopeless at map-reading, so you'll have to do that part."
