Lee pouted to herself, fully aware of how disappointed he'd likely be if she gave him one of her paintings as a gift. She'd have to think of something else; either that, or take some classes in painting...
Stepping into the shop, Lee smiled a bit as she looked over the clothes. It had been a while since she'd ventured into a clothing shop, but it felt very familiar. Walking farther inside, it didn't occur to her how boring this probably was for Rory. Luckily for him, it would be getting a bit more interesting.
"Lee?" A girl's voice called out from behind her. Freezing up slightly, Lee hesitantly turned to see two old classmates, neither of which she was especially close to, but who she had talked to regularly enough. "Oh my god! I thought it was you!" The blond squealed a bit with excitement, the other redhead following her as she stepped closer. Lee smiled awkwardly, turning to face them fully. "H-hey..." So, it was as she'd feared it would be. "I thought you were--" "Nope. I just moved out." "O-oh..." The girls looked at each other questioningly, but didn't bother to question her further, turning their attention to Rory, who seemed to be much more interesting. The more talkative blond tilted her head, smiling flirtatiously before asking, "And who might you be?" The redhead cocked an eyebrow at her friend, clearly finding Rory to be too low-class for her taste. Whispering into the blond's ear, she was swatted away and ignored, the talkative girl oogling once more at Rory. Lee, too, cocked an eyebrow at the girl, who was either unaware that he was both a didikai and her boyfriend -- the latter a seemingly obvious fact -- or she simply didn't care. If Lee had to guess, she'd say it was the former.

"Th' name's Rory," the boy said, bowing a little. "You be friends o' Lee's, yeah?" He wasn't quite sure what to say really, reaching out to take Lee's hand in his left hand, curling his fingers around hers to try and hide the deformity, his right hand was jammed into his pocket.

As Rory opened his mouth, the redhead gave him a slightly disgusted look, her suspicions that he was a didikai confirmed. Lee had been prepared for that... The blond, however, only grinned further, giggling a bit before she gave him her name. "Oh my god, that is such a cute name. I'm Hailey." The redhead had yet to say a word, her eyes rolling a bit as her friend talked on. "Uh, yeeeah. Lee was, like, my best friend in econ." Blinking, Lee tilted her head, sure that they had never been that close, but wasn't about to protest. What baffled her further was that the girl wasn't at all turned off by his accent, and only seemed to be flirting even more. And was she not noticing that he was holding her hand?! Was she really that stupid, or did she have a thing for didikai boys?
"So, like, where are you living now, Lee? I should totally come visit some time." "At Farstep. A carnival. Rory's from there, too. He's a didikai." She was glaring slightly, her words coming out blunt. They hadn't really been friends, had they? Still, the girl pressed on. "Ohhhh, so that's what the accent is." The girl giggled, her eyes having been glued to Rory the whole time. Never in Lee's life had she actually wished someone was a little more racist, as terrible as that sounded.
"Look, Hailey, we should go." The redhead gave the blond a sort of "I don't want to be seen with these people" look before gesturing for her to follow. Sighing and rolling her eyes at her friend, she smiled up at Rory before cheerfully saying, "I guess I'll see you guys later. Bye, Lee. Bye, Rory." Hailey bit her lip as she waved, turning to walk off with her friend, the two whispering loudly back and forth as they left.

"Is th' blondie touched in th' head, Lee?" Rory asked after the girls were gone. "She doesnae take a hint easily. I worry she might actually show up t' me home now." He looked down at her. "They kinda why you didnae want t' run int' people you know? They werenae too bad."

Lee clung to Rory's arm possessively, glaring in the girl's direction. The girl wasn't as dumb as she seemed to be, Lee was sure of it. She just wanted Rory, whether he was taken or not. "I think maybe you should start closing your door from now on..." She looked up at him, shaking her head. "I wasn't expecting anything like that, actually..." Biting her lip, she was pretty confident that Rory wasn't interested in her, but from what she could remember, Hailey had always been pretty popular with the boys. A pretty blond interested in her boyfriend was more than enough to make Lee a little jealous. Wrapping her arms around him and pulling him closer, Lee pulled the boy into a rather passionate kiss, on the off chance that the girl was watching.

Rory made a surprised noise followed by one of pleasure as he surrendered to the kiss and then began returning it. He didn't care in the least if others were watching.

Pulling away, Lee smirked up at him, fully confident that his interest was in her and her alone. "Okay, so I decided I dun want anything here..." Not because there wasn't anything worth buying -- in fact, she'd had her eye on a cute shirt since she walked in -- but because the whole place had lost its appeal from Hailey's presence. "Do they sell anything sweet around here?"

"There's a soda pop stand just outside," Rory offered, shrugging one shouder. He stopped to look at a pair of jeans, bending at the waist to examine the embroidery and brads decorating it. "Lee.. would you like some pants like this?"

About to go see if there was anything that sounded good in the machine outside, Lee paused, looking at the jeans Rory was referring to. "Eh? You think they'd look good on me?" She'd never been one to wear jeans, or basically pants of any kind. She was a shorts and skirt kind of girl.

"I guess so, yeah..." Bending over to get a better look at them herself, she picked a pair up, tilting her head and nodding a bit in approval. "I'm gonna try them on. Want me to show you what they look like on me?" She started walking toward the changing room, looking back at Rory.

"Aye," Rory said and by the tone of his voice, he'd rather get a repeat of this morning, but would content himself with waiting outside for a private fashion show. "Why not get a few things you like t' try on? Whate'er you like enough, I'll get fae you. Think o' it as . . . a way to redefine your style t' gae wi' your new life."

Lee turned around, cocking her head and smirking. "I dress too much like an outsider for you?" She was only teasing with him, but that didn't change the fact that she liked wearing her skirts -- she had nice legs and intended to show them off. Turning to head to the changing rooms again, she happened to find a shirt she liked on the way over and accidentally brought it along with her into the changing room. As bad as she felt having him spend so much money on her... well, he'd offered, hadn't he?

Rory just smiled and followed her, finding a chair to sit in and wait while she changed, admiring those legs his girl was so proud of showing off.

After a short while, Lee stepped out wearing the jeans and shirt she'd picked out, blushing slightly at how different she felt and looked in pants. "Does it look okay?" She'd decided, though, that jeans really did look nice with her eyes.
