"All right crew," Riza began, pacing back and forth in front of the four Pokemon and feeling much like a military general commanding her troops. They were all sitting on the bed in front of her listening intently, especially Sneasel and Cyndaquil. Since Riza had mentioned it Sneasel had really grown to like the idea of having a name, though Cyndaquil just seemed to be happy to hear her new trainer talking to her even though she wasn't so sure what was going on. "Sneasel, I would like to call you Akima," Riza said, already beginning to register the changes in her pokedex. Sneasel pondered her new name before nodding enthusiastically and giving Riza a thumbs-up. "Kirlia, I think a good name for you would be Yula. And Corphish, from now on, you'll be Diemia." Kirlia and Corphish also pondered their names before deciding that they liked them, and while Kirlia clapped and did a little dance to show her appreciation Corphish simply snapped her pincers a few times and looked away, though Riza took this as an ok from the crab.

"And as for you, my little cutie," Riza laughed, scooping up the tiny Cyndaquil into her arms. "I'm gonna call you Eris." The fire mouse squeaked happily and waved her forelegs around, seemingly content with her new name. "So that's it really," the dark haired girl said, sitting back down on the bed. It was well past one by now though she still didn't feel sleepy. "I guess I just have to figure out what we're going to do next." She had no plans to venture to Sinnoh any time in the near future, as she was sure that ship tomorrow would be jam packed with trainers heading to the new region, and not being much of a people person Riza knew that going over there right away would probably drive her nuts. 'maybe we'll just head back to Johto for now, maybe check out a gym battle or two,' she thought before going to the bathroom area to wash up and brush her teeth. She headed back to bed and crawled under the covers, noting that both Yula and Diemia were already sound asleep. Akima was perched on one of the chairs, looking out the window at the starry sky, while little Eris snuggled down under the covers with Riza, falling asleep within moments. 'So cute,' Riza giggled before closing her eyes and doing the same. 'Soon we'll be winning contest ribbons and making ourselves famous,' she thought, a smile forming over her lips as she drifted off to sleep.

Above all else...

Travis, Champ and the newly captured Geodude made good time in the hills near Mt. Moon despite the former Rocket's injured knee, and found a nice rocky ledge near a stream to make camp for the day. Comfortable in the wild with his Pokemon, Travis created a small shelter with his supplies and relaxed in the sun while his Pokemon got to know each other. The rock Pokemon didnt' want to have anything to do with the stream Champ was splashing in and the two played a complicated game of tag while Travis watched.

"Machop! Ma-ma-chop, machop Chop machop." Champ said excitedly, hopping in and out of the cool water and teasingly splashing a little towards the Geodude.
"Geo-dude. Geo-geo-Dude." it replied, hovering cautiously just out of Champ's reach but watching the happy Pokemon play. After a couple of minutes the Geo-dude settled near the edge of the stream and began to pile up rocks then knock them down. Champ noticed and abandoned his splashing, more curious as to what the Geo-dude was up too. Travis felt his eyes growing heavy as a combination of all the walking, capturing Geo-dude and his injury caught up with him. As Champ squatted next to the Geo-dude's newest pile of stones, the former Rocket fell asleep.

may you know joy

The Psywave attack smashed right into Hera causing her to fall back somewhat. The Single Horn Pokemon gave a small cry of pain as the multi colored rings smashed into her. However a good thing did come out of the pain. Hera's mind cleared up momentarily, the confusion wasn't totally gone yet but in her moment of clarity she decided to pay the creepy little ghost pokemon back. Her horn glowing a light blue now she flew forward at an incredible speed for an nice looking Aerial Ace attack.

"Great work Hera." Dante said with a small smile. To have the intuition to do an attack like that with just a moments notice, well Dante had to say he was impressed. She was such a young pokemon to, with a bit of training, something that he was sure to give her, then she would be able to take down almost anything.

After quickly sending Slowpoke over to her parents computer Robin signed off and leaned back in her chair. She didn't feel to good about sending her pokemon away but Slowpoke needed some confidence and she was sure he would get some with her parents. Getting up off of her chair she took turned around and was greeted with a sight that was sure to get her in trouble.

All over the Saffron City pokemon centers walls was one name and one name only. Black*Star, oddly enough, or maybe Luffy had shown him, the name was exactly how it was in his manga. Of course since it was everywhere she had to grab the two and get out of there asap or else she was gunna get in a lot of trouble. Looking around quickly hoping to find the two culprits she quickly and quietly made her way around the pokemon center. When she did find the two it was Black*Star standing on top of Luffy's palm hands and signing his name over the maps of various regions.

"Oh you two are in so much trouble!" Robin harshly whispered as she reached over and grabbed the two. With both of her naughty pokemon securely in her arms she made a run for it out of the pokemon center. Robin did not stop running even as her legs and lungs started to burn until she was out of Saffron City itself. When she finally did stop she put the two down and just gasped for breath for a few moments. In her head she was running through various punishments for the two.

Catching her breath she looked up at the two who had been looking up at her the whole time and immediately bust up laughing. It seemed like they had used there faces and body as a canvas before they took to the pokemon center walls and furniture. On Luffy's face was a curly mustache and a monocle his arms and fur had a sort of colored in tuxedo. Black*Star just had his name written all over him. The two made a funny pair just looking up at her. When Robin stopped laughing she looked at the two with a big smile on her face before scooping them up in a hug. "All right I can't stay mad at you two looking like that. However I can't let you draw all over other peoples stuff. You can draw on my things but no one else's ok?"

The two pokemon nodded and with the problem settled the happy trio headed down towards Vermilion City.

Keegan eyed the neat pile of folded clothes sitting atop the backpack, doing his best to keep all his memories at bay. He wasn't here to reminisce and dwell on the past; all that was over. He wanted his wallet back, nothing more. The sound of footsteps approaching the door caught the redhead's attention and instinctively he moved to the far side of the door, smirking almost devilishly when he heard the footsteps become more cautious. Well, that was faster than I expected, he thought, taking a deep breath. Kasiya noticed him faster than he thought she would, and with reflexes that shocked even him he took two quick steps forward and grabbed her arm, yanking her back towards him. "Where do you think you're going?" he growled, pulling her into the room and slamming the door behind them. He released his hold on her and folded his arms across his chest, a very unimpressed expression set on his face. "I think you have something that belongs to me," he said, holding out his hand. "Hand it over. Now."

When it was her turn Miharu simply handed Sparkle and Petunia's Pokeballs to the nurse and moved off to the side, Tingle staying vigilantly at her side. The Metang was watching their new 'companions' curiously, the Houndour in particular. It could sense that something was up but it remained silent, sticking close to Miharu as she reclaimed her Flaaffy and Pinsir and thanked the nurse for healing her Pokemon so quickly. Miharu went over to a vending machine and grabbed herself a lemonade while she waited to see what Tyra would do once her Pokemon had been healed. I have the feeling that she wants to get going, the small girl thought, wondering when the next ferry from Olivine to Cianwood would be.

Sere watched as Mitsu turned and went back into the Gala. "Have fun" She whispered, thought she didn't really understand why.

The walk back to her house was longer than she remembered it being, but it could have simply been because she took her time getting there. Serenity was enjoying the quiet and enjoying the feel of the cool night air. So much so, that when she got back to the house, instead of going in, she went around back. Most of the pokemon were still sleeping, but she was happy to find that George was not. The marshtomp caming running at her and she knelt on the ground to get a full hug.

"I missed you today." She said.

"Marshhhh." George responded, trying his best to give a good hug to his trainer. To him, it seemed as though she needed it.

Leon watched with the same old bored expression on his face. The battle had lasted shorter than he'd thought it would, which was a bit of a disappointment. He'd hoped that this would actually take some time, so that he wouldn't have to sit through the party as long. "Muuma, counter it with Shadow Sneak," He said nonchalantly.

Muuma, who'd been watching the Heracross the whole time, quickly nodded and immediatly went forward to meet the Heracross, trading attacks with the Bug-type. She did her best to land her own attack as the Heracross's horn struck her, sending her flying backwards and nearly crashing into Leon in the process. Do to the Heracross's first attack being super effective, this was just too muc for Muuma and she didn't move. Without waiting to see if her attack had landed on the Heracross of not, Leon moved forward and crouched next to his ghost Pokèmon. She looked a lot less eery with her eyes shut, and the purple-haired trainer pulled out her PokèBall and returned her, standing up and looking at Dante. "Good battle," He said before glancing at Hera to see if Muuma's last attack had hit or not.

A startled cry escaped Kasiya's throat she suddenly felt herself being yanked backwards, though the sharp pain that shot through her injured shoulder definitely didn't help matters much either. She attempted to glare sharply at the redhead but she failed miserably and instead ended up only grinning somewhat sheepishly. He's trying to be all Mr Tough Guy, she thought, stifling a giggle. But he's forgetting that his tough-guy act doesn't scare me! "Oh, you mean this?" she asked, reaching into her apron pocket and holding it up. "Yeah, well, you really should take better care of your things," she said, shrugging. "Besides, I figured that if it's that important to you, you'd come looking for it. And, well, you did." She put herself between him and the door, quite sure Keegan could hear her heart pounding in her chest, though she didn't know why her pulse was racing. "You can have it back, but on one condition," she continued, her voice wavering a bit, but not from fear. "We need to talk." It didn't come out as stern-sounding as she wanted it to, but it was a start at least. She seriously hoped he wouldn't notice how much her hands were shaking.

"Sure thing," Lilah nodded, quickening her pace to catch up with Katie. "That was a good battle, wasn't it? I'm really impressed with your Pokemon," she went on as they made the short trip back to the Pokemon Center. "Have you thought about trying for gym badges?" When they arrived at the building they went inside, and Lilah allowed Katie to get in line first. After all, she'd been the one to ask for the battle so it was only polite to let Katie go first. Besides that, none of their Pokemon were in dire need of treatment as none of them had been injured too badly.

That last Quick Attack had taken a lot out of the Rattata, and it could feel the tiredness beginning to settle in. It hadn't taken many hits but Rattata weren't known for their stamina. As the Puppy Pokemon sent another burst of small flames at his new Pokemon, Callum frowned. "Try to dodge it!" he called, but it was in vain. The purple mouse could only turn it's head and brace itself as the flames washed over it. When the flames died down the small Pokemon was lying on the ground, unconscious. It's fur was blackened in patches though it didn't seem to be too serious. "That's too bad," Callum sighed, brushing his hair out of his eyes. "You fought well, little friend," he said, recalling into it's Pokeball. "And so did you, Growlithe," he added, nodding towards the puppy. "I can see that you and Train are going to work well together."

Crenu silently followed the trainer as she lead him through the gym, takign special note of the pokemon and odd plant life he'd never seen before. He was glad he'd waited for a guide before making his way through the gym on his own because even Crenu wasn't sure he'd be able to navigate the floral maze of this gym. When they finally got to what was obviously the battle area Crenu was a little surprised to the see a girl with black hair apparently sleeping on a bench, though at second glance it looked more like she was meditating. He noticed her Kimono, simple yet elegant, and was suddenly reminded of the dance theater back in Ecruteak. He remembered going there often growing up, each generation of the Kimono Girls using a different evolution of Eevee to battle with. He'd have to go back some day to challenge them, but at the moment he had another battle to worry about. After having seen Erika and heard her speak, he was not at all surprised when she bowed and introduced herself. He may not have been a very nice person, but Crenu did appreciate good mannerism and would never hesitate to return it. He bowed as well in response to Erika's, though he didn't smile. "My name is Crenu, as you already know I have come to challenge you. Good luck to you as well." He had to admit, Erika had impressed him. She seemed very calm and down to earth, but when she got set for battle and sent out her pokemon it also became clear that she was very serious when it came to battles. He knew that he might actually end up enjoying this battle. He watched Erika send out her first pokemon, a bit off put by the fact that it was a pokemon he didn't know much about. But this was to be expected facing a Kanto gym leader, so he wasn't all that worried. "Very well, then I shall begin with Swinub." Crenu threw his own pokeball into battle, it's light releasing the little Pig Pokemon who immediately began sniffing the air, almost overwhelmed by all the different scents coming from the hundreds of flowers in the gym. But it was also a pleasant scent, and soon Swinub just went back to his normal docile self waiting for the battle to go underway. "Swinub, let's get things under way with Icy Wind." Swinub raised his head as he took a deep breath, exhaling a strong gust of arctic wind cluttered with shimmering particles of ice.

She didn't stay asleep for long. She was too excited about going back home. Sam threw the blanket off her, startling Miles and Star. She checked the time on the pager. 'Hmm...I still have some time before I need to get on the ferry. Maybe I should explore a little.' She considered the idea, but waved it away. She couldn't sleep, but she was still exhausted. She didn't feel like wandering around Lilycove for hours, and risk getting lost. She spotted a bank of computers. ' Hey I can look up some names for the egg! Or maybe even find out what it is...' She sat down at one, and began researching. She first typed in "unlucky". It came back with few results, mostly about ghost pokemon terrorizing people. The egg felt too substantial to be a ghost-pokemon. Next she looked up pictures of blue and gold pokemon. She came up with way too many results again, this time anything from Cyndaquil to Shuppet to Munchlax. None were quite the right shade of blue however. She leaned back, at a loss for what to do now. She watched Star and Miles, who were back on the couch, Star cradling the egg. She got up from the computers and gazed at them, smiling slightly. Star was acting like a little mother to egg, it was funny. Then again, if the egg hatched and the baby was taught Star's personality...She shuddered. Star glanced up, and suddenly put the egg down. She blushed a bit, embarassed. She turned and smacked Miles across the face, and scolded him for something, as if it was his fault. Miles, understandably, retaliated in the like, chopping at her with his hand. Sam held up her hands as they glared at each other. "Guys...calm down...If you need to fight, go outside. Okay? I'll meet you out th-" They were already out the door. She could see them tussling and rolling around on the ground outside. She sighed and picked up the egg pouch. It wiggled a couple times.

She sat outside in the cool early morning. Star and Miles had been going at it for awhile, and didn't show signs of calming down. She stood up. "Enough!" she screamed. "If you're going to fight, you might as well learn from it! Miles, other side of the field, now! Star over here!" They sullenly walked to their places. She looked at her pokedex, checking to see if they had learned anything new. Star had learned two new moves, Bide and Mud Shot, and Miles had learned Karate Chop. She looked at the description for each. Wonderful, Star got to spread more mud now. Star and Miles were getting antsy. They twitched a bit, itching to leap at each others throats. "Okay, rules guys! You listen to whatever I say, got it? I tell you to do something, you do it. Got it? Okay, first, Miles Karate Chop! Star, dodge, then retaliate with Mud Shot!" Miles jumped forwards, and swiped at Star with his hand. Star, too proud to actually listen to Sam, stood there and took the blow, wincing at the pain. That wimp had actually hurt her! "Star, listen to me! Use Mud Shot!" Mud Shot?! Hell no! She gathered the anger within herself, and waited for the perfect moment. She twitched a couple of times. Miles backed away a bit. "Miles, use Fury Swipes!" He had a bad feeling about going near Star, but he complied. He scratched Star several times across the face, each time a little harder with a little more ferocity. Suddenly Star's eyes snapped open, and she glowed with pent-up energy. She roared, and charged Miles. He was flung backwards, but quickly recovered. Apparently, Star couldn't quite control all the loose energy. Sam consulted her pokedex. It told her the move was Bide, one of the new ones she had learned.

"Excellent strategy, using an Ice-type against a Grass-type," Erika commented, not at all worried by the fact that she was now at a disadvantage. In fact, she smiled when she saw the little Pig Pokemon appear on the battlefield, his powerful nose taking in all the different scents within the gym. "He's adorable," she said, even as Swinub reared back and loosed a powerful blast of frigid air towards her beloved Pokemon. Tangela planted his feet and narrowed his eyes as the Icy Wind hit him, his vines being tossed all around by the air current. Icy patches clung to his body in places, but for the most part he seemed to be fine. "Okay Tangela," Erika said, adjusting the sleeves of her kimono. "Give Swinub a good dose of Sleep Powder!"

Nodding, the Vine Pokemon shambled forward, moving faster than one would expect a creature that was covered in writhing vines to be able to. As it neared Swinub it began to shake it's body, sending up a cloud of shimmering blue spores that began to rain down around the Ice and Ground-type.

Train let a small smile onto her face as she watched the attack hit right on. "Yeah! Good job, Growlithe!" She praised the Fire-type Pokèmon as she saw that the Rattata had fainted, her smile widening a bit. Growlithe let out a little bark and wagged his tail, panting as well, since the battle had taken a lot out of the young Pokèmon. She'd have to make sure to go straight to the Pokèmon Center after this.

Growlithe bounded over to Callum, tail still wagging, very pleased that he'd beaten the Rattata. Train blinked and followed the Fire-type, stopping beside him and reaching down to pat him on the head. Her smile had faded at this point, and she looked up at Callum, tilting her head a bit.
"I think he thinks he still with you," She said, sticking her hands in the pockets of her sweatshirt. "That's probably why he listened so well. He was trying to please you." It wasn't like she was upset or anything--she knew that the Pokèmon wasn't going to figure out right away that he was with a new trainer, seeing as how the first battle she'd let him out into was, in fact, against his former trainer. She knew he'd figure it out the next time she sent him out, be it for battling or not, and she just hoped he'd accept her being his trainer and would come to grow as loyal to her as Callum's Growlithe seemed to be to him.

"Yes, but apparently your pokemon can take the cold fairly well." He said in response after watching Erika's Tangela take the Icy Wind head on and come out of it relatively alright. He thought it a bit odd for her to mention that she thought Swinub was adorable mid battle, but he decided that wasn't important at the moment. When she issued for a Sleep Powder he remembered that the judge had said neither trainer would be allowed to switch, which would make things a bit troublesome if it worked. But Crenu wasn't worried, he never worried. He watched as the light blue powder swallowed up Swinub and watched as the little guy start to struggle against the effects. "Fight it Swinub, I know you were raised well and won't be made to lay down so easily. Shake it off." Crenu's words were calm, but his tone was quite firm. Swinub shook his head about as the powder made him groggy and caused him to stagger, but he managed keep from going under with a triumphant "Nub!" Crenu grinned slightly and nodded in his approval. "Very good, but let's not risk taking another attack like that. Let's try to freeze them in their tracks with Powder Snow." It wasn't as strong as Icy Wind, so relying on the low chance of freezing the opponent solid was risky. Especially since Swinub looked like he wouldn't be able to fight off another status effect. But he hadn't taken any direct damage yet so it was a gamble he felt safe taking. Swinub immediately acted, takign a breath similar to the one from before but this time when he exhaled it wasn't a powerful arctic gust. This time it was more of a pinpoint barrage or pure white snow that began covering everything in it's path.

A slight frown appeared on Erika's face as she watched the Swinub fight off the drowsiness, only to counter with what appeared to be a weaker Ice-type move. The gym leader said nothing and watched as her vine-covered friend and companion danced with ease out of the way of most the oncoming barrage of snow, a few more crystals clinging to the vines dangling from his body. "I think it's time for a Sunny Day," Erika said idly, though the statement was really just that - a statement, not a command. Regardless, though frosted over in a few places Tangela began to dance happily on the spot, a warm glow first encompassing the Pokemon, and then with a burst of warmth the whole room seemed to light up with bright, warm sunlight. The icy patches that had formed on the Vine Pokemon's body melted away quickly, as did the snow formed by Swinub on the last turn. Now in much more comfortable conditions, Tangela narrowed his eyes in Swinub's direction, eager to continue.

"Good boy," Callum said, kneeling down to pat the Pokemon on the head. "You were great." The Puppy Pokemon certainly did look pleased with himself, and Callum simply smiled at him, and without looking up at Train again he leaned forward and started to whisper something to the fiery pup. At first, the Growlithe's ears seemed to droop a bit but after a few moments his tail began to wag again, and he turned and trotted back over to Train, though he did give a rueful look in Callum's direction. "I told him that he's going to be traveling with you now," Callum said, standing up. "I'm not sure how well he understood or how well he'll behave once we part ways, though," he added with a sigh. "But once he gets used to it he should be just fine." He brushed the gravel from his knees and nodded back in the direction of town. "Well, I'm going to get this little Rattata some treatment back at the Pokemon Center and then be on my way," he said, already heading back in that direction.

The way that last command was issued seemed almost too relaxed, even for Crenu. Sunny Day, Crenu had expected this would come up at some point in the match. Sunny Day boosted fire type moves, but it also triggered a few useful abilities in grass type pokemon and is also cut the charging time for Solar Beam in half. Both were something to take in to account, but the latter of the two was the troublesome one due to Swinub's ground typing and the incredible power of Solar Beam. Erika's Tangela was proving more of a threat with every passing moment, so Crenu decided that it was time to start using Swinub's brute strength to try and bury his opponent. "Don't give them a chance to pull off what they're planning Swinub, hit Tangela with Tackle." Swinub kicked off the ground hard as he began to sprint towards the Vine Pokemon, picking up speed as he closed in on his target like a furry brown missile. He'd been using indirect attack so far and they didn't seem to be working all that well. Tackle may not have been an attack bursting with power but both Swinub and Piloswine were built more for physical attacks anyway. Though he had a few ideas in mind, all he really could do now was wait to see what Erika had in mind for that Sunny Day. It's only the first round, this may end up being tougher than I thought.

The attack did hit Hera in the end knocking the poor confused bug pokemon onto her back. The very weakened bug pokemon rolled around a few times trying to right herself but in the end she couldn't and Dante had to recall her. Putting her back into the pokeball Dante surveyed the damage she had done and frowned slightly. That wasn't to good, he didn't want his mom to get in trouble because of him. Taking out Xannon's pokeball he released the ancient Baltoy. "Xannon could you please fix the area up for me." Was all he said before going over to where Leon was standing.

"Sorry for bumping into you again. It was a good battle, I also shouldn't have said those things about your pokemon. It was rude and not something someone should say to another trainer."

Behind him Xannon was using his psychic powers to lift up the rocks that Hera had dug up and fix the smashed ground. He had spent a long time repairing things so this was easy work for the doll pokemon.

~~~~~~~~
After Robin, Luffy, and Black*Stars escape from Saffron City they headed down the normally pretty crowded with trainers was pretty empty. There were still a few wondering around but since it was getting pretty late and the trainers were usually fairly young they were probably all inside by now. Still a few of the older ones were wondering around outside and some of them gave Robin a few interested looks. Well ok maybe not Robin maybe Luffy and Black*Star were getting the looks.
"Hey girl with the Totodile! Wanna battle?" A teenage boy about Robin's age called over to her from the side of the road.
It was a fairly friendly question which caught Robin by surprise, she was used to people demanding battles from her. Looking down at her pokemon, Luffy who since they stopped was picking grass from the road with his tails, and Black*Star who got into a fighting stance at the mention of the word battle. Robin herself wouldn't really have minded a battle, maybe not with Black*Star though, she had just caught him! She hadn't even looked him up in her pokedex. Robin also wasn't really sure she had the time for a battle at the moment. "Ah well I need to catch a ferry to Slateport. I need to be there by morning so I don't know if I have the time."
"Your going to Slateport? I am to! I was gunna catch the midnight ride over so I could sleep before I get on the boat to Sinnoh." The boy had walked on over to Robin and was giving her an easy smile as he explained his boat plan.
"There is a midnight boat? Oh I didn't know that." Robin muttered as she thought to herself. "Well if that's the case then I would be happy to battle you er..." Robin then realized that she didn't really know the others name. "Ah I don't know your name I'm sorry. Mines Robin, Robin Knight. The Ambipom that is ripping up and now eating the grass is Luffy and the Totodile is called Black*Star." All the while Black*Star had been jumping up trying to get the other boy to pay attention to him. Robin wasn't supposed to be getting so much attention!
"Well then nice to meet you Robin, Luffy, and Black*Star. My name's Jake White, it's nice to meet you and I am sure we are going to have a fun battle."
