"You're...welcome, Vice Captain. I'm sorry if that was a surprise. I am just accustomed to speaking my mind." Sliding his glass towards Kenta, Telemachus motioned he was done drinking and folded his large hands under his chin. He couldn't of helped but notice that Hinata was a beautiful woman, he just hoped she wouldn't hold it against him. His eyes caught the intricate carving on her teacup. "Have you been doing that for a long time? It is remarkably complex for such a small cup."

"No ma'am, I was told to find you firsst before I did anything." He ordered a water with a straw and slipped the straw beneath his mask to take a sip. "I'm very happy I made it into thiss ssquad though, it was my firsst choice and I thought they may not give it to me because I had to get held back in the academy." He took another sip of his water after some difficulty navigating the straw through the mask, then he added in, "I ssuck at kido." His lisp was rather prominent now that he was not focusing on correcting it.

"Well, I've been carving since- what, just after you arrived? So, not long. I have to say I'm getting a bit rusty..." Hinata tilted her head to the side to inspect the slightly off-centre beak of her crane. "I used to be pretty decent at art before I became a shinigami. My family's aristocratic," she continued with a little humour, "this is what they teach you as a noble. But I've rarely been back since I joined the Gotei."
Frowning slightly, she turned to Hiroko to listen to what he was saying.
What an inconvenience... He must really want to hide something, the Vice-Captain thought as Hiroko had difficulty even taking a drink because of his mask.
"Haha, well same story here, really. I'm not exactly a kido master either. Though I was never really held back, as I practised hard with my sensei. Graduated in four-and-a-half years," Hinata added. "It's not bad, but I would have gotten out earlier if I'd joined the Special Forces. They did offer me a place once or twice," she gave a wan smile, "... but to be honest, Hakuda combat isn't really my preferred way of fighting."

"That is still impressive that you still have the skill to do it.. I, however, am limited to carving deep furrows in materials as art. Consequently, I'm very good at Hakuda." Kenta set a large glass and a pitcher of water in front of Telemachus. "Kido and Zanjutsu are not easy, especialy when my zanpakuto is as it is." He gestured to the thin, guardless sword strapped to his thigh.

"Ah, well- zanjutsu's okay for me. My speed is good, but I lack strength... Well, it's kind of obvious- I'm too short to really pack a punch in anything, though I suppose training's helped a lot. And I can force reiryoku through my limbs if I want extra strength anyways." Hinata paused, before realising she had left her zanpaktou in her office. "Well, my zanpaktou's pretty much standard, but it's shorter than a normal katana. Maybe that was Harikaze's idea of mocking my height?" she questioned herself, referring to her sardonic zanpaktou spirit. "... Che. I wouldn't be surprised if it was."

"I was always told that its not the ssword, its the master. I mean look at my zanpakuto, its a sstick." He took another sip of his water through the straw before saying, "But appearancess are quite deceiving." He touched the stick and it broke away to reveal an extremely thin blade. "Unfortunately my blade is both weak and unconventional, and therefor I disguisse it as a sstick." He took another sip before saying, "I got the idea from a former soutaicho that I read about in your guys' library when I was still in the academy." He took one last sip before the loud sucking noises signaled that he had reached the bottom of the glass. "Knowledge is power after all." He stood up and summoned the woodchips back over his sword. "I should get my stuff moved into the barracks. It was nice meeting you ma'am, sir." He gave two bows, the first much longer than the second and turned to go pack his things away. He was waving back at them the entire way out, and though they couldn't see it, he was smiling."

(( Hmm... Is Alder going to post or not? *ponders* 3nodding ))
Hinata marvelled at Hiroko's slight blade- it was even thinner than her rapier-like shikai form. She smiled a little as he explained where he had read how to conceal it. She too, being a learned aristocrat, had read many books on the history of Sereitei as well as the rest of Soul Society. Knowledge was power indeed. Hiroko would make an interesting opponent one day.
Just as she thought of sparring him, another sly thought popped into her head- had she become so battle-centred, that she thought only of how a person would fair in battle upon acquaintance? Her zanpaktou's sardonic and often blood-thirsty ways had definitely rubbed off on her.
"Leaving so soon? Ah well, I suppose you need to sort out your room. If there's anything you need, feel free to ask," the Vice-Captain sang, as her officer departed with a wave.

(Yep...I was a bit preoccupied.)
Alder strolled casually into the bar, sporting his rapier, the likes of which wouldn't bother him anymore. "Well, Vice Captain...I wonder how long I'll have to wait before I can close the gap between myself and that arrogant Fourth Seat..." He said with a chuckle. "I'm really tired of his attitude, honestly....senior officers this, senior officers that....if he ever became captain, the lower seats wouldn't have a say at all....."

"Till me meet again, Hiroko. Fuku-taicho, I would like to practice my combat with a more experienced opponent." Pouring himself a glass of water, the feline flicked his ear back at Alder. He nodded to the man as he sipped at his water.

"If you don't mind me having my shikai, I'd be happy to spar with you." Alder said with a chuckle to the new member. "As i understand it, you're fairly new to this squad, so I suppose a challenging fight would be good to get your spirits excited." Alder said grinning as he held out his hand to the new member, in order to shake hands.
Alder had been wanting to use his Shikai on someone, and it seemed the opportunity had fallen into place perfectly.

Telemachus set his glass down and took Alder's hand in his large, pawlike one. "I'd be happy to fight you with your Shikai. Where and when do you want to fight?" His grin looked more like a snarl than a friendly smile. Large canines were clearly visible and strength emanated from the Leopard man as he stood and looked down at the other Shinigami.

"Our Squad's training grounds. Follow me there." Alder said, as he turned to leave the bar. "Sorry about stealing your conversation, Vice Captain, but it WAS you who said I should use my abilities in battle..." He said with a light chuckle as his voice faded. He walked out the door of the bar, expecting the Leopard man to follow him to the Thirteenth Squad's training grounds.
He hadn't expected a fight this soon...but it was good practice before he put that damned fourth seat in his place.

"Very well. I'll see you, Fuku-taicho." Telemachus snatched his robe and followed Alder to the training grounds. This would be his first real battle since he trained with the woman he called Mother.

Hinata smiled and waved at the two as they departed for a sparring match. She was glad that Telemachus had found a way to fit into the squad, and that Alder had found someone to practise his shikai with. He would never master it otherwise, with such a stubborn zanpaktou and all.
Speaking of zanpaktou... she thought suddenly, I left Harikaze in my office. She checked the time- she had her own battle to attend soon, as she was to spar an officer from another division. Hastening in order not to be late, she chucked her carved-into glass in the bin, hopped off her stool and swept away.

Sayuri walks in absent mindly and takes a seat in a corner. She was apparently nervious as she stared out the nearest window. After a minute she ordered a glass of water and took sips as she watched birds fly by.
