Aidan was still looking, but couldn't hear anything. There was a chill down his back however. He knew that the threat was still out there. One arm clasped around Azzura and pulled her snug right next to his body. Without thinking, he pressed his lips on her forehead in a reassuring way before speaking.
"I don't mean to alarm you my dear, but we are not alone. And it feels like this other fae does not have good things in mind."

She slipped one arm around his waist and curled up tightly against him. "What... what kind of not good things?" she whispered, now watching the woods closely. Even with his attempt to reassure her, she was quickly becoming frightened. In the shadows, the baddie smiled to himself as he felt their fear rising. He stayed still and silent for a several more long moments, knowing that their uncertainty would probably be even more terrifying than anything he could do. Then, when Aidan was looking the other way, clearly trying to find him again, Nicolau made his move. In an instant, he was out of the bushes, claws extended and aimed right for the taller fae's back.

No this wasn't a good thing. Aidan held her close and kept looking around. Something was seriously not right. Those eyes flitted to and from, when he sudden heard something behind him. He started to turn, but felt claws dig into his flesh.
He swung out, aiming to knock the baddie in the mouth as quickly as he could. This really, really, wasn't going to be good.

Azzurra had actually been facing the baddie as he attacked, but froze in fear and confusion. She cried out, squeezing her eyes shut, as she saw the baddie's claws tear into Aidan. Almost instinctively she swiped one paw at him, trying to drive him back from her new friend.
Nicolau had been expecting a reprisal attack from the twinkat, and was already moving out of the way by the time Aidan had turned enough to be able to reach him. He hadn't been expecting anything from the frightened girl, however. She was able to hit him, but not hard enough to hurt. Nonetheless, it knocked him off balance, and it took him a few split seconds to catch himself and be ready to move again.

Aidan growled, forcing himself between the baddie and Azzura. Even though she had been the one to get a strike in at him. However, while the baddie was off balance, Aidan launched himself at the other. He was trying to get a hold on the other, grabbing at whatever limb or tail he could. Why? So he could keep the damage to himself and not to the pretty fae in the center of the clearing.

Azzurra let Aidan push his way between her and the baddie, too frightened to think straight.
Nicolau hissed as the twinnie managed to grab his arm. He twisted his arm, trying to break the hold, as he swiped at the other fae's face. The attack was mostly meant as a distraction, but if he managed to hit, all the better.

Aidan growled, a feral thing that suddenly escaped his lips. His grip on the baddie's arm tightened as the other twisted, and he didn't flinch from the sudden strike to his face. In fact, Aidan felt three claw marks left on his cheek. However, he balled up his own fist and struck out at the baddie, aiming to knock him one square in the jaw.
Aidan felt odd, never before had he been in a real fight. His sister and him had often fought, but he pulled his punches. As much as he complained, Aidan loved his sister. But this? This baddie was out to hurt him; worse he was going to hurt Azzura. That was just not going to happen.

As Aidan's claws started digging into his arm, the baddie felt his own blood rising. He lunged forward, getting uncomfortably close as he aimed a bite at the twinnie's shoulder, as at the same time one clawed foot suddenly kicked sideways at Aidan's leg, trying to knock him off balance.

Teeth dug into Aidan's shoulder as the baddie scored a hit again. This was not going well in the least bit. His eyes tightened for a moment, before glancing at Azzura; Aidan couldn't let anything happen to her. She was beautiful, pure of heart, and full of fire. He wouldn't let anything happen to her!!
A growl escaped him, feral and horrid as this time a clawed foot kicked sideways at his leg. Aidan simply wrapped both around around the baddie as he fell, taking the other with him. It didn't matter to him how much he got hurt, as long as Azzura would be okay. He bit where he could, trying to hurt the other as much as possible.

Azzurra had backed up until she hit a tree, and was watching the fight in horror. Part of her kept insisting she should run, and she suspected Aidan would agree if he wasn't busy. But she couldn't just leave him, either, and so instead she stayed where she was, paralyzed by indecision.
Nicolau snarled in startled surprise as he felt himself pulled down as well. As he felt the other male score a bite on his arm, he clawed with both his feet and paws, attacking anything he could reach. One hand went for Aidan's face again, scratching at his eyes.

The other was digging into him with those claws. Aidan had to somehow get this to stop. He writhed and wriggled trying to keep the other pinned there as he clawed at Aidan. He only paused to pull his head back and yell.
"Azzura!! Run!!!"

(( rofl You really are exclamation point-happy tonight. xd And hopefully Aidan won't be hurt too bad, or at least heal fine.))
That was all Azzurra needed to goad her into action. She stumbled in direction they had been headed. In the dark and in her panic, however, she found herself tripping constantly. She started to cry, which didn't help her see. As much as she was getting away from the two fighting faes, she was not doing so quickly, and was making more than enough noise for either of them to follow her.
Well, this was no good. He'd planned to have fun with her. Annoyed, Nicolau took advantage of Aidan's brief distraction. He managed to roll on top and pinned the twinkat to the ground by his neck. He did his best to keep Aidan's hands under control with his free hand while choking him with the other.

Aidan was glad to hear Azzura running, and hoping that she was running back the way they had come. Toward Oni, toward safety. The twinkat growled and sputtered, feeling the hand halfway close around his neck. Good thing he was a bigger kat, or else the baddie would have an easier time choking him. Aidan just wanted to give Azzura time. He slipped a hand free and started pulling on the one that was choking him. What had they ever done to this evil creature?!

((Yeah, I saw you say so earlier. xd ))
Nicolau just held on as best he could, trusting that the bigger kat would weaken as he fought for air. He didn't plan to kill the other kat, just knock him out so that he would be free to go after the girl. Then he would have them both to play with; he was looking forward to tormenting her while making the twinnie watch.
And if Aidan wanted to find a reason for the baddie's attack, he would be sorely disappointed. There was no reason, besides joy in the fear and pain of others.

The twinnie suddenly had an idea. It could either go bad or good; and it would truly depend on the baddie on top of him. It was all or nothing, Aidan struggled, and then his hands weakened. His eyes rolled up and his entire body went lax. It seemed like Aidan was out for the moment. The truth? The big kat was faking. Wanting the other to get off of him and head toward Azzura so Aidan could launch a surprise attack.
