"Totally! And you sat through me breaking double-digits, I'm with you the rest of the way! And don't feel rushed! We've got all day, you know!" She called supportively, hoping the little guy wouldn't fall apart. If she could keep from anger, hopefully he'd be able to keep from crying! Leaning into the ball pit a bit, Annabel offered a smile.
"You can do it, kid! I know you can!"

this time ozzie kept an eye on the seagulls, so when one zoomed towards his head he had just enough time to twist out of the way before it made contact. however, in doing so he fell off the log and back down into the pit. as he lay on the balls, ozzie wondered if he had jinxed himself. he probably shouldn't have tempted fate earlier, but it had been nice thinking optimistically. he slowly crawled out and decided to try his butt-scooty method once more.

Just as he was almost at the end Nigel felt something sharp dig into his backside. Turning around as best he could, he could see that a particularly large barb on the wire had hooked onto the back of his pants. “Oh nononononono not now, don’t do this!” he twisted his body around to try and unhook his pants but it was pretty clear that they were stuck fast. As a last resort he began to tear at the fabric but it was no good, his pants were stuck. Sighing loudly, he flopped back into the mud to ponder over what he could do, though he knew there was really only one solution. He’d have to try and take his pants off. It would be humiliating and he’d have to start the course over after he got a new pair, but it was his only option.
With a great deal of audible annoyed grunts and grumbling, Nigel managed to remove his pants and crawled out of the mud obstacle. There was a very large hole in the back of his underwear which he sincerely hoped nobody would notice, as he quickly rushed back to the cabin to grab his spare pair of pants.

"There we go! Doing it your own way, kid- that's what style is!" Once more brought to her feet in cheers when he made it across, Annabel was ready to wait- give the boy as much time as he needed. And oh god, she was being huggy today- offering him another encouraging embrace, honest to god feeling herself bonding with this kid. Nothing like surviving an obstacle course together to bring a group of people together, that was for certain. Letting him go, she was absolutely BEAMING with pride.
"And see there- that was pretty quick! It didn't take you nearly as many tries as it did for me!" Tail wagging in excitement, Annabel wondered if this was what sibling pride was like. They'd gotten this far together, and he'd taken her through a perfect run! Giggling a bit in her sudden recovered giddiness, she turned her attentions back to the start of the course.
"Here we go again, then?" She called, before taking off for the start- GOD, this was easier with someone at her side. Slipping under the wire in what could honestly be a dive, Annabel started the course up once more.

phwew! ozzie was glad that he hadn't succumbed to the same log curse that annabel had. he gave her a quick congratulatory hug for making it through all the way without a single redo. "wow belbel! you've gotten really really good at this course. good job! may-maybe you'll do just as good for your last time through!"
he was reluctant to admit that the wire crawl had become a familiar sight, but he figured at this point, the sooner he and annabel got through it the sooner they could get away from chef and his crazy torturous challenges. so down on his belly he went, for round four.

Nigel was almost completely out of breath by the time he reached the challenge for the second time that day. He wasted no time as he wandered over to the mud pit, dropped down to the ground and began to crawl his way through. He sincerely hopped his clothes wouldn’t get stuck this time as he had no more spare trousers, and he may have to do the rest of the course in his holey undies. Shuddering at the thought, he was starting to find the second mud crawl to be much less enjoyable then the first time had started out.

Sadly, they were getting good at this- from her quickly slip under the wire crawl, Annabel had managed all five rounds without getting caught in it. Wriggling out and quickly hopping back up, she turned to Ozzie with a once-more cocky grin.
"Fifth time through, y'know! ...Can't believe I'd ever do something like this more than once. Christ, the things camp does to you!" She was laughing a bit, but hey- this wasn't so bad when you had someone to take it in stride with! Moving quickly to the cliff once more, Annabel started to hoist herself up- hissing a bit when one of her paws slipped.
"So keep me distracted here, Ozzie- how'd you get wrangled into camp?" She asked, scaling the wall like Spider-Man. Aww yeah, she was getting good at this!

Standing up at the end of the mud crawl obstacle, Nigel stretched and breathed a sigh of relief. At least no one would have to suffer watching him complete the rest of the course in just his underwear!
He was just starting to enjoy himself again when he saw what the next obstacle was. “Oh…brilliant” he stared wide-eyed, up at the cliff as he dusted the mud off his bare chest. He was definitely going to get a few scratches climbing that. Scratches at the very least!
Making his way over to the cliff face Nigel wasted no more time thinking about it the task, before he began to pull himself up the wall. The notches and bumps in the rock were not entirely grip-able and his back paws scraped and slipped as he tried his best not to fall back.

while not wanting to tempt fate a second time (third if you count his comment about chef), ozzie was resigned to simply admitting that he had learned from his first mistakes in the wire crawl. up next was his favorite of the four events. as he found his familiar footholds on the cliff face, he responded to annabel's question.
"well, uh....i actually wasn't s'posed to be here. my brother jackson actually applied to come to camp. but i guess they made a mistake 'n grabed the wrong brother, cuz one moment i'm playing with steggy in our backyard 'n the next moment i'm waking up under a bush by the dock here on the island." he paused for a moment while he wiped his eyes. "'n wh-what about you, belbel? why'd you wanna come here?"

Once more, she'd made it to the top with ease, listening to Ozzie's commentary along the way. Ah, so he hadn't wanted to come, either. Scowling a bit at the thought that so many of them were unwilling contestant, Annabel huffed when she got to the top, flicking her tail in minor annoyance.
"I thought I was going to a poetry read. Signed the papers for it and everything. Wound up here instead," she snorted, the humor gone from her voice for a moment. Day ten, and here she still was, busting her a** and competing her hardest- honestly, she'd never expected herself to pull this kind of thing off. Dusting herself a bit at the top, Annabel turned her attention toward the Gator Swing once more, the grin taking her features once more.
"And look, hey! Two more obstacles left to go! Let's say we go in and gun this, yeah?" She asked, flicking her ears in honest to god excitement. Maybe too quickly, though, she took off, not waiting for the boy's answer.
Two obstacles. Two more and she could head back to the cabin for a nice, well-deserved, Chris-free nap.
"HERE WE GO~!"

(( Sorry to be rushing ahead, I've just gotta go really soon, and I'd like to get this done ASAP. <33; I- sorry! If you wouldn't mind, though, some time in the future, I'd love more RP! )) Adrenaline had taken over at this point- though she'd been snapped by a gator her first attempt, Annabel wasn't going to be stumped again. Pulling herself out of the water and shaking herself dry- admittedly thankful for the cool-down, in retrospect- she was quickly up and at it again, rejudging the distance needed to swing. Taking off at full speed, she lunged for the rope once more, determined not to go in again. God damnit, that nap was going to be hers!
Once more, Annabel! Once more, and you don't have to do this again..!

Pulling himself up and over the ledge, Nigel collapsed onto the ground and let his paws rest for a while before peering back over the edge of the cliff. It was a powerful long way down but he’d made it! Finally he’d had some luck. Things seemed to be looking up as he made his way over to the next part of the course.
As he reached the pond Nigel just stared. At first it just seemed like an empty pool of swampy water, empty that is until he saw the pair of hungry eyes staring back at him. “What the? …What!?” taking a few steps back from the waters edge he took a few deep breaths.
Nigel knew he had to do this for his team, and since when was he ever afraid of an animal anyway? Sure these were hungry alligators but perhaps they could sense that he wasn’t food and meant them no harm? Deciding to go along with that optimistic thought, Nigel grabbed onto a rope with both paws and took a few steps back, saying a silent prayer before closing his eyes and swinging out across the water.

That'd done it- clearing the Gator pit her second time, it seemed as if the girl had finally gotten serious. Jaw set and brow furrowed, she slowly headed her way towards the log bridge once more, it was notable that Annabel might've been growling at this point. No more laughing and games, then- as nice as it'd been meeting and chatting with Ozzie, she had some rest she needed to catch up on. Cracking her neck slightly as she rolled her head, the girl was silent a moment, waiting.
Once more, she took off across the log in a dash. Hopefully, she could avoid any gulls this time- just one more, and she was home free!
...Well. Camp home-free, anyway.

oh geez, that was horrible! ozzie felt for annabel. he knew that for some people poetry was very important - though he didn't get it much himself - but to trick someone in that way just to get them onto an island for a game? his opinion of chris and the others in charge was worsening every day. "oh cripes, i'm sorry belbel. that's rotten!"
ozzie ran to catch up to the other beaver. when he got to the shore, he took a deep breath (his new routine for dealing with the island's creatures), took up his usual position high on the rope, and swung while keeping the rope firmly in his paws.

"wa-wait belbel!" ozzie called after the blur of white fur before him as his paws touched down safely. he dashed towards the ball pit just in time to see his new friend clear the log, and finish her second all-clear round.
now what to do? he wanted to catch up and it seemed as if she were in an awful hurry, but his tried and true method was what got him over the log each time. quickly, he planted his rear on the log and scooted across but faster than any previous attempt. hopefully it was fast enough.
