Finnegan growled. He had a difficult decision to make. This was not good. He sighed, he knew what he had to do, he knew the limits of his skills. He could make the jump easily alone, but he was certain he couldn't make it with the weight of four other people.
The lives of three children and their mother simply wasn't worth the life of one man, himself. He would rather risk his own life for them than risk theirs for his.
Instinct took over as the time to decide came and he secured the family and did his best to save himself from falling into the inferno.

If he died, well, at least he had saved the family.

((Damn, and I have to stick with his character XP
It would've probably turned out differently if someone hadn't ditched me.))

Adela nodded. "Might as well." She pulled her hand out of his grasp, not realizing the fact that he was probably hitting on her. She ran her hands through her wet hair. So I got wet for nothing...ah well, better wet than burned.

Lisha was in the hallway of the clooapsing and burning house. Always afraid of fire, she was slow too react in there. Suddenly, she turned around. Her only easy way out was blocked by the fighting. Now what?
Looking around franctically, she located a wall to the outside. Having no other easy way out, she pounded the wall until the fire weakened wooden struts gave out. She took a large breath of fresh air. Walking around back to the yard, Lisha notice that one of her 3/4 sleeves had been burnt up to her shoulder. At least it hadn't gotten her that much. It was only a tiny burn she had sustained. She hoped the others were okay.
She went to try and find the glass of water she had never gotten to drink. She saw it in pieces on the floor, water and glass shattered and glittering like ice.

No wait, that was ice.

Another person had appeared; her skin was dark and her hair was black and in a tight bun, and there was quite a grin on her face. Dressed up like she was going running - except she wasn't wearing shoes - her clothing was all orange and sweat-clothing-ish. A thicker almost protective jacket - it might've even been bulletproof - covered her torso, and waves of cold ran off her. In both hands she gripped solid ice, formed into wicked-looking blades.

"Don't worry, we'll have him soon!" she told Lisha on the way past. Why she had to point this out specifically was unclear. She then leapt forward and made for a break in the wall where everyone appeared to be.

Finnegan felt the floor crack under him just as the last child climbed away; a sense of vertigo filled him and he tumbled headlong into the blaze below. Immediately waves of pain ran across his skin - someone had even stepped on him. He could feel himself try to get out - it wasn't working - he was going to die.

Then waves of cool rushed over him. His skin still felt incredibly painful, and he could feel he was blacking out, but it felt like someone was taking hold of him; he was going to live.

In fact, it was the Ice Woman; she now looked concerned and upset as she dragged Finnegan to safety before jumping back into the building.

A few seconds later, mere seconds after Adela and Schraeder escaped, the entire structure collapsed, leaving the almost perfectly intact roof sitting on the ground.

Things became quiet besides the crackling of the fire.

Schraeder nodded. "I'll get some drinks, then."

Adela was perhaps the only person he had met who did not think him weird for being able to ignore the collapsing, burning house and strange super-people that were all around them in favor of getting a drink.

He returned with two glasses of Scotch, handing one to her and sipping his own.

Lisha walked back to the bar and got herself a new glass of cold water. Who was that woman? What was with these events? Felt seemed long gone and it was only them. Watching as the woman dragged another man out, Lisha sipped her cold and refreshing drink quietly. The hint of lemon in the water was perfect. The fighting had not stopped. Annoying.
She turned to the other two, Adela and Schraeder.
"I think the host is gone," she remarked. "Don't you think it is weird that he is gone when there were people in side his house, which just collapsed? What do you think happened to him?" Putting her half empty glass on the counter, she hoisted herself up so she was sitting on it.

Schraeder nodded. "Right. I was thinking that maybe he went for help, but it does seem odd that he would abandon his family."

Adela shrugged at Lisha's questions. See, now here's another reason why this has to be a dream. People always panic in these kinds of situations. And yet, Schraeder, Lisha, and Adela were watching this whole fiasco calmly. She started to sip her scotch and continue watching the fight. "I'm guessing Mike is out helping the panicking people?"

The building shifted. Of course it couldn't be that easy!

The whole thing exploded upwards, shattering into thousands of pieces of shrapnel. All of it was fairly dangerous; there was a very decent chance that all of them were going to be hurt.

The fight continued, and flares of color lit up the sky and ground alike, slowly flash-blinding anyone and everyone nearby. Something seemed to be happening; from what they could make out, the people who were not The Thief were getting more desperate.

"I think we should leave here," Schraeder said, looking at the fight until there was another flash and he was forced to look away. "We'll only get hurt here."

Adela used her arms to cover her face from the possible shrapnel and the bright light. "I think you're right Schraeder." She looked down at her arms and saw small scratches from the bits of glass. I...I feel pain. Slight pain, but still there. This is a dream, isn't it?
PostPosted: Thu Aug 06, 2009 9:51 pm

"I guess." Lisha shrugged. "But I'd like to know why they are fighting. Who they are. All that. 'No pain, no game, no blood, no ambulance,'" she quoted, forgetting who had said it but remembering her dad say it all the time....when he was still alive. He eyes suddenly grew sharper, colder. "And I would also like to know why that family disappeared and where Felt is." Her eyes flashed. No one should leave their family-ever. It is too important. I want to know where they are.
Finishing her water, Lisha said, "I'm going to go and get in the way of things. You can come if you like. I will go either way."

((Sorry for lack of postage - hold on another day, I'm... doing things.))

Things were impossible to distinguish at their distance; it was hard to say what was going on. Something was happening, but it didn't seem to be important, until there were a chorus of shouts. Now something was happening, and it was not a small thing. The Thief was jumping clear of the others, they were jumping after him - he had established himself now, just a few feet away from the bar. In his right hand was a knife; in his left was a glowing canister. It held some sort of almost holographic symbol inside it; it appeared to be made of glass with two metal endcaps. Something about it set hair on end - energy, magnetism almost. It felt a little overpowering.

The odd thing was the way The Thief was holding the knife over the canister like he was going to stab it.

Very Serious Man took the lead on this one. "Don't even dare," he hissed through his teeth. "That's dangerous to you just as much as it is to us."

"Nah," The Thief replied laconically before lifting the knife. Every weapon available moved forward to intercede between the knife and the canister - it was too late, though - there was a blinding flash, the world turned upside down and went perfectly dark.

((Can't remember if I've described the Sigils before; if I haven't, I have now.))

---

When they woke up, they were... somewhere. It looked like it was night, but there must have been a full moon - light streamed in through the windows of... it looked like a warehouse, or something. Classic hideout. A rather bright light source came from around the corner of a few boxes; there were other voices talking back there.

When the various people went to get up, however, they discovered that they were all injured in some way. Finnegan had finally woken up; his burns were dressed but still incredibly painful. Schraeder seemed to have a gash from his collarbone to his hip, Lisha had a similar gash on the outside of her right thigh and the inside of her left bicep, and Adela had a huge bruise covering almost her entire torso, front-side. It made it extremely uncomfortable to move.

Nobody was there to greet them as they awoke; apparently they had assumed they would be out longer.

Schraeder grunted, trying to sit up and only causing himself more pain. He fell back with a sigh.

"Hey! Someone over there! Mind coming over to take care of these wounds?" he called in the direction of the voices.
