you know... a steampunk themed ball would rock... we could have airship pirates!

the gods idea is getting better the more i look at it. there are so many possibilities even if we dont make ANYTHING up, there have been betrayals, epic duels, affairs and all that good drama stuff with the gods.
with a liitle imagination we could make an incredibly immersive storyline.

you know steampunk would be pretty easy to pull off, classical fashions, millions of possibilities for storyline, pirates! we could have a lot of fun on an airship (as long as no one jumps off the side smile )

anime, i think we may be on to something here
part of the plot could be like, you are all invited onboard a huge cruise ship (airship) and halfway through the party pirates attack and kidnap the captain. or sumfing like that

What type of rooms would there be? We need 7-10 room. We can not use actual book names as we don' own the rights and it could get gaia in trouble so what other things anime-ish can we do? Can you elaborate?

and you know.. victorian fashion is beautiful. i really dont think anyone would NOT like it. as in they wouldnt hate it and not come because of that. also everyone likes pirates, we could have someone be the captain of the pirate ship and people would probably flock to the person they liked the most, steampunk gives many options for personality types. we could also throw some magic in if it is needed. i think that we could a little something for EVERYONE, with all the possibiltys no one could possibly be left out

I was looking at the list of unused ideas as well as what's been discussed so far, and I came up with a sort of hybrid of two that I really liked, plus a way to connect them and turn it into rooms.

What if we did a theme of countries+mythology(+a museum)

~ Each room could involve the mythologies of different countries (Greek/Roman, Indian, Japanese, Egyptian, Chinese....)
~ A way to put the users into the story could be a museum exhibit showcasing artifacts from each country with each exhibit being in a distinct area. Then each area takes all the users into the mythological world they're observing (I know this is really similar to the storybook from this year's ball, but I think that structure was good)
~ To appeal to non-RPers, rooms such as the museum lobby, the gift-shop, etc. could be threads where you can just hang out and talk about the event. Following with the museum idea, the “information desk” could be a thread where users can ask questions.

It's not a complete idea but I thought I'd just throw it out there. I also thought about using the 7 continents as a theme since each continent could be a room, but I couldn't expand on that idea. But if anyone else wants to tackle it, feel free.

Call me an extremist, but is there a reason we have to stick to the very same format that were used in the last couple of years? It's like using the same song over and over again with a new remix or cover band.

I hate rehashing concepts over and over again. It gets.... so stale.. Especially to anyone who might have been at the last one and the one before that. A new person is likely not to notice, but I don't see where the room reference comes in unless we are doing a building... with.. well rooms. And whats the significance behind the magic number of 7?

'Welcome Thread, News Thread, 7 Ball rooms...' and the last year they weren't even.. rooms.. so why do we narrow ourselves to that? I know some people who do like to stick to repetition, so if my statement upsets you for suggesting to come up with something fresh and new for a ball format please forgive me and offer me some understanding on why we use that same format over and over each year.

Someone please enlighten me so that I can determine if I need to be thinking more in a box than out of one. ^^

@Envy- I think 'rooms' is just a way to refer to the specific threads. At least, that's how I mean it.
