Castello sighed, running his fingers through his black hair. "I'm going to tell you something I have told... to almost no one, Annis," he said, still holding the necklace in his hand. He turned his hand palm up, staring down at the red jewel that bore the Tervingi Crest itself. "Not even the others... I haven't even told Teifi."

He closed his eyes. "I was a slave in Begnion, back on Tellius. I was born in Serenes, and captured by slavers. My first masters were not unkind," he sighed, sitting back and letting the first rays of the sun fall on his face. "My second masters were cruel. I tell people that I simply... escaped. This usually doesn't come up." He ran his fingers nervously through his sable locks again, twisting his pompadour a bit.

"There was a girl... a beorc girl who worked at the house. Abigail..." He smiled a bit. "She helped me reach Crimea. Which, at that time, of course, had only just split away from Begnion, so it really wasn't much more safe than Begnion, but still, we made do. Until... well. Annis, do you know what happens to a laguz when he creates a Branded with a beorc?"

He read the look in her eyes and sighed, looking away. "Neither did I," he murmured.

A long pause followed as he stared at the Tervingi Crest. "... I could really use a smoke about now. And I... don't smoke. Ever get that feeling?" He sat back, leaning on his free hand and looking straight up at the sky overhead.

Annis relaxed just a little when Castello started speaking again. She pulled her legs close to her chest, watching him as he stared at his crest. She was silent, arms folded across her knees, eyes thoughtful as he told her something she wasn't even sure she deserved to know.

She didn't speak for a while after he finished his story, not even when he turned to a slightly lighter thread of conversation. "... I could really use a smoke about now. And I... don't smoke. Ever get that feeling?"

Annis looked to her daggers, suddenly feeling one of guilt stab deep into her gut and twist. He had lost the truth of his heritage out love. She had never found it to begin with. She leaned against the railing and looked up to the sky. Would he keep the topic away from what she had said earlier? Would be nice if he's just going to laugh at me again...

"Yeah. I do," she finally told him, voice small.

Of course she was cute, she was Hatmon after all. Hatmon smirked as best she could in her current form. Compliments were always nice to get, though they weren’t very helpful for the ego. They seemed to be hard to come by too, making them all the more satisfying. Especially after her transformation into a chimera which let her have the long life she was living now. Even though it had been a few hundred years ago, Hatmon was still a bit sore on the subject as to why she had become the way she was, but there was no changing the past. Heck, it wasn’t even worth it anymore, considering she’d have died long ago like any normal human does after they live out their life.

“I did not think that there were others with tails similar to mine.” Her thoughts started to entertain the idea of there being others in the world such as herself before Hatmon became distracted by a lovely feeling between her ears. Oh my, that wonderful feeling of pleasure when someone scratches just the perfect spot behind the ears. It wasn’t something she cared for very much in her more humanoid form, but in fox form, she could never get enough of the sensation. To show she enjoyed it she pressed her head more against Ganon’s claw so that he would have no difficulty scratching that wonderful spot. Her tail leisurely swished from side to side in pleasure coursed through her body. “I would dare to hope not; else I may not get the continued pleasure of your company.”

“Mrr? That would be me,” the demonic fox responded as she let a curious blue eye gaze over at Ed. Hatmon had never met another chimera before; not to say Hatmon knew Ed was one. As far as the fox was concerned Ed had a curious smell, but why she couldn’t figure it out. If she knew, she’d probably remark on how it was interesting that they both had the same hair and eye color as one another. Perhaps all chimera had blue eyes and black hair, but it was also possible that this was just merely coincidence.

He sighed and laid his head back, letting the silence speak for himself as he watched the sun continue to crawl its way toward the sky. After a long moment had passed between them, he carefully replaced the Tervingi Crest around his neck, and immediately his gorgeous sable-feathered wings burst from his back, spreading out and extending their feathers slowly as they stretched. At last, he folded them again, by then sitting up with his elbows on his knees.

"I need the Crest to have my wings, back, and... to transform. But... just because I need a crutch doesn't mean I couldn't teach you. Sometime." He turned his head, smiling a wry little smile.

Annis didn't speak; she didn't want to break the silence that had come down between them. She felt awkward now, rubbing her toes together as she watched sun slowly, painfully, make its way above the horizon. Oranges and reds had started to paint across the blue sky as she heard the rustling of fabric and the slight clink of the chain the Crest was on. Annis turned slightly to catch the sable wings spreading wide and rustling, then back to the sky. Annis crossed her legs quietly, like a small child sitting on a story rug, and rested her elbows against her knees, hands dangling in the empty space her legs created.

"I need the Crest to have my wings back, and... to transform. But... just because I need a crutch doesn't mean I couldn't teach you. Sometime."

Annis turned her head again, tilting it just enough to let her bangs fall halfway over her eyes, cloud the emotion there? She felt... grateful? Pitied? Guilty? She couldn't tell, just that the little smile on his face made frustration bubble deep in her gut. "And what assurance do I have that you aren't going to laugh your stupid a** off at me again?" she demanded, a little harsher than she intended.

Aran watched as Needles the Sniper came down to most likely harass Large and Annis. And harass them she did, it seemed as Annis soon pointed a finger at Aran. He waved with one hand and continued to listen to their speeches.

After Annis left, Aran decided he'd get something to eat as well and take a bit of a break. "Mmm.. Yeah, I'm gonna get something to eat, maybe rest a bit." He said while nodding at the two, and then walked to the nearest Mess Hall. Or wherever food was.

Castello frowned a little as he pulled himself to his feet, leaning gently on the railing. "Nah... I might tickle you some more, though," he said, grinning and stepping up on the railing. He stood up straight, turning back to offer his hand as he braced himself on the round railing. "Come on, let's get out of here," he said, smiling.

Annis preoccupied herself for a moment with rubbing her hands together, looking over to the rising sun as her face flushed a slight pink again. She looked back up to Castello when she heard his feet hit the railing, and she turned her eyes to his hand almost curiously. "Come on, let's get out of here."

Annis studied his hand for a moment, then rose to her feet. She put her smaller hand in his, gripping his palm firmly. She spread her wings wide, and a little smile appeared on her face. "...Where to, exactly?" she questioned.

Leena recognized Aran, only from a picture that Leon showed her of him and Amelia, the new recruits to the squad. He was exactly as she pictured him, kind of tall, lean, and fit to his armor in a strange way. The vendor also remembered an Energy Ring being delivered in his name. Already, a new customer! She had to make herself impressionable if she was to get more sales from him. The smile was the important part. If it looked too awkward, people could tell you're either nervous or reluctant, but a 'too good' smile meant that you're trying to be snide and are probably a swindler.

First face-to-face appearance to a customer. Important.

She grinned sincerely. Finally someone to talk to as she ate! "Hello there, sir! I heard your name's Aran. I'm Leena, a supplier of sorts of the Watch's boosters... and a friend of Lt. Leon!"

As Aran got a plate of food and something to drink, he searched for somewhere to sit. As he began to eat his food though, a woman carrying a shipment of rings that had blue hair. Maybe this person has the ring I ordered. He thought. Aran remembered ordering an Energy Ring or something, most other Watch members did too.

"Hello there, sir! I heard your name's Aran. I'm Leena, a supplier of sorts of the Watch's boosters... And a friend of Lt. Leon!" He heard her say with a nice smile.

"The pleasure is mine Miss Leena." He said while shaking her hand with his free, clean one and grinning back. "I sure hope that's the ring I ordered. I have a feeling it'll come in handy with the current events going on."

"Yeah, I know what ya mean." Leena answered, nodding to Aran. "Things have got quite bad all over... I got scared kinda... when they started barricading places. But... if you guys weren't here things would be much worse, I'm guessing. I want to thank you for helping them... Dan's squad. They're... my dearest friends, especially Leon and Magnet." She smiled proudly, yet slightly shyly at that fact. "And as long as you're a part of their efforts, you're gonna see a lot more of me!"
PostPosted: Sun Jun 21, 2009 7:15 am

"It's an honor to be apart of Dan's squad, as well as the rest of the Watch." He said while nodding also. "Leon and Magnet are pretty great guys, and if you'll be around then it's good to know I'll have more friends here, eh?"

"Wha-what? We just met and already... you like me enough to be my friend, well.. that's a shocker!" Leena accidentally expressed her thoughts out loud and smiled awkwardly. "Um, sorry. I'm just a bit surprised on how friendly you are is all. A lotta ex-cons like Chickenwire are here, and they're... not nice."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 21, 2009 11:51 am

"Err, well not friends exactly but acquaintances more so." He sort of rubbed the back of his head. "Don't worry about it, and yeah Chickenwire could be a bit nicer."

Ed stared back at Hatmon. The features she'd witnessed had sent her head whirling into a mess of thoughts and suspicions that wheeled about so strongly that they blurred into a mass of confusion. Ed was trying to pick thoughts out of that confusion, thoughts along the lines of Hatmon perhaps being a chimera (and if that was so then maybe there was another person out there who did transformational alchemy! or maybe not), thoughts along the lines of the two having some connection (that's silly, destiny doesn't work like that does it?), thoughts along the...

...Wait, whut.

After losing her train of thought, Ed tried to figure out something to say. Her face remained blank the whole time as she stared at the fox, her mouth open in an attempt to voice some idea. She had completely no grasp on what to say. Perhaps it was due to her fatigue (her muscles still ached from Artemis-knows-what) but it was still frustrating.

Ed shifted around a bit on the mattress. She glanced at her surroundings, trying to make sense of where she was and what was going on. When her attention returned to the two before her, Ed finally managed some sort of response.

"What are you?" asked Ed, cocking her head at Hatmon.
