Joliette smiled "I'll tell him, he's a real sweety though, I dont think he has a mean bone in his body... And an apology if the night we changed woke you, we both changed at the same time and I'm afraid we made enough noise that even Hargun heard us from her place" she thought about David's head butting the wall cringing slightly

Chana smiled. "Frankly...I was probably wide awake and blaming the...ah...wildlife. Like I said, my sleeping habits have been horrible since coming here. She didn't know Hargun...and she couldn't say if changing with someone was better or worse than being on her own. It sounded uncomfortable though.
The angle of the sun drew her attention back to the hannukeah. Chana absently started pulling out candles to be lit soon.

Joliette's tongue flicked "Unfortunately wildlife is beginning to look like an accurate description... I hope the change wasn't too bad for you" she watched the candles being pulled out and wondered to herself if Chana needed solitude for her lighting of them

Chana shivered slightly at the memory of the previous night. "Kindly don't mention that again...I've no need to live it twice." She peered out the window. Eh...dark enough.
"Want to help me light the candles?" she offered. Not that she needed help...but Joliette had seemed interested enough.

"Point taken" she said simply with a nod "Uhm ok sure" she hoped she had enough dexterity to do it properly

"Here." Chana pressed a candle into Joliette's hand. "That's the shamash, it's the one we use to light all the others and it goes in the highest holder." She indicated said holder.
"Now. Loading the candles, if I remember correctly, is from left to right." Chana deftly fit the candles in the holders, skipping the shamash. "And then we say the prayers, light the shamash, and light the candles from right to left, okay?" It was simpler than it sounded...once you got the hang of it.

"All right then." Chana smiled and started the prayers. There were only two, but she sang them, softly and a bit flat. No one was perfect, after all.
"Baruch atah adonai, eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kidshanu b'mitzvotav, vitzivanu, l'hadliknair, shel Hannukah.
Baruch atah adonai, eloheinu meleh ha-olam, she-asah nisim lavoteinu, bayamim, haheim, bazman ha-zeh."
Chana smiled again and nodded to Joliette to light the candles.

Joliette hoped she had interpretted the girl's intentions of the nod and remembering what Chana said slowly lit the candles being careful not to drop the candle she held and soon they were all burning merrily, she looked at Chana not certain if she was supposed to put the candle she held in the middle and indicated that question with a guesture of pointing at the candle then the spot with a questioning expression on her face

"Allow me, I've had practice at this." Chana gently took the candle from Joliette and fitted it into its spot.
"There. I always like watching the candle flames," she said quietly.

Joliette readily gave up the candle, the space between the ones burning made her a lil nervous with her less dextrous and very much more clawed fingers "They seem happy dancing at the end of thier individual whicks" Joliette nodded her agreement for the time being what was around her was forgotten, or at least pushed to the back of her mind

Chana cocked her head slightly. "Kinda funny that you'd say it like that...one Hannukah song has a verse that starts "dance little candles to and fro"...'course I can't remember the rest." She snickered at her own inability.

"Too bad I have no access to the internet here, the words are probably online, I somehow doubt they'd be in my comprehensive encyclopedia, could be but I doubt it" she leaned on her knees again looking at the candles and then Chana

"The song's called Eight Little Candles, if that helps," Chana added.
"I've got to admit...I really didn't want to answer the door when you knocked. But I'm glad I did. I don't think I've ever spent this long with somebody on this island without hyperventilating or something." Chana rubbed the fur on the back of her neck as she spoke.

"I'll take a look on my laptop, you never know maybe it will be there, it's a pretty big encyclopedia after all it's what helped me figure something out recently" she decided not to say what unless she was asked "Hyperventilation isn't good, I'm glad you haven't, I suppose as time passes things become different, Perhaps it was the conversation was more relaxed, away from the main topic of the island, and about something that interested you"
