Talencia shook her head at Wolfie's question. "No, it's too dangerous to bring Tira down here. We don't know what may be lying around. It isn't a safe place for a blind wolf." She shone the flashlight around. "Whatever made the noise should be close by here." She was trying to figure out what or how to call out to coax whatever it was near them. Every sound or phrase that came to mind seemed wrong or stupid.
"Let's go back this way." She pointed the beam of light in the direction the stairs went above them. "It was over here that Tira stopped up there." Now a bit trepidatious, she swiped a large cobweb aside,, trying to let the flashlight shine beyond the dusty wisps. What would they find in the shadows beyond?

Wolfie laughed as Yuki tugged on her sleeve. "Aunt Bea is Beatrice Duke. She was my great Aunt. And Edward Hill was her second hustband. The sea captain that owned that trunk we stumbled upon." Wolfie paused before following Tal along the length of the chamber. "I think its romantic that one of them carved the initials in here."
Wolfie took hold of Yuki's sleeve in return and began to inch towards Talencia, who was somewhere out of immediate sight. She could only see the waivering flashlight pouncing off old beams and cobwebs. "Hey Tal, slow down. I dont wanna loose you down here." Wolfie brushed a sticky web from her face and gagged slightly as it stuck in her hair. No dead bugs, no dead bugs she thought.
"Not sure what we heard. I guess we will find out pretty soon."

"Oh!" Yuki nodded. She knew the name was fmiliar. How could she have forgotten. "Yea, it sort of is romantic." She tried to picture how romantic a sea captian could be, but only pictured an old, one legged sailor.
A smile traced her face and Wolfie tugged on her sleeve. She was glad that she wasn't the only one who was a little nervous being down here looking for something that was unknown. "Whatever it is, I hope it's not big." She scurried along after Tal and Wolfie, becoming slightly eager to discover the unknown creature.

Wolfie gave a nervous laughing hoping that Yuki was right. "I hope so too."

Wolfie followed close to Tal. She was careful of the beams and avoided as many of the sticky annoying cobwebs as possible. It was silent except for the sounds of their breathing and the quiet thunking of a moonlit or two or three running around upstairs. It was amazing the difference the location made. Everything sounded so muffled and strange and new down here. Wolfie made a silent note to return to this place sometime when she needed to think.
**Whine** There was that sound. It was coming from somewhere closeby. Wolfie strained to see in the dark, her night vision not as good as it used to be. At one time in life, she was able to run out into these woods at night and see her every step on a dark moonless night. Now, however, she needed the flashlight. Years of city living had corrupted the wonderful adaptation and now she cursed the corporate companies that had once employeed her.

Yuki stopped. There was something...whining?! Nothing big and scary would whine. That knowlege seemed to ease Yuki's nervousness a lot. She moved pasted Wolfie, who seemed to be struggling in the dark and whispered. "Whatever is down here, I don't think it is bad." She moved foward, closer to the sound.
**Sctratch tickey tick tick tick tickey tick tick sctitchety!**
"Eep!" Yuki jumped back into Wolfie. "Sorry Wolfie. It seems I'm always bumping into you." She giggled sheepishly and went on."But whatever was here, just ran off somewhere. But I think it's still close. The footsteps didn't fade and and stopped quickly." She thought a moment. "I think it went that way." She pointed towards a corner. That would explain why the creature stopped running so suddenly and why it didn't go too far. She took and step then turned to Wolfie and smiled. "You first." She flashed Wolfie a rather large smile.

Talencia paused at the whine and swung towards it. Just as she did, though, it moved of course! She snorted amusedly at Wolfie and Yuki not wantintg to go first. She inched forward towards the corner that held their quarry.
She swiped a few more cobwebs out of the way carefully... she didn't want to spook it again. She then slowly moved her flashlight beam towards the corner. As she slid the beam across the floor, pawprints were visible in the dust that covered the floor thickly. The prints were small, though, as the whine has proven.
She let the beam follow the pawprints towards the corner slowly, until finally, her light found the coerner and what they had been seeking. She caught her berath in a little gasp. "Wolfie! LOOK!"

Wolfie struggled to see what Tal was showing her. The flashlight bobbled with her excitement and the beam bounced with her. "Slow down, it might spook!" And with that the thing let out a frightened yip.
"Tal! Its a Moonlit!" Wolfie was stunned. But it wasnt just any moonlit. It appeared to be someone familiar to Wolfie and she just couldnt put her finger on it.

"Oh, the poor thing!" Tal steadied the flashlight and pointed it just to the side of the poor dusty pup, so as not to blind it. She eased up closer to the puppy and spoke softly and gently. "It's alright darling, don't be frightened. We're here to help. You must be starving and very thirsty, huh baby? Come here, we'll be good to you. Come to auntie Tal..."
She slipped closer to the frigthened pup, talking the entire time, trying to reassure the adorable youngster. Would it let her scoop him up?

Wolfie was in a state of shock. Why was this pup so familiar to her yet she had never laid eyes on it before? It pushed its butt into the air and waggled it slightly in a frightened excitement, unsure of what it wished to do with itself. With a slight snuffled, cobwebs and dust flew everywhere.

While the pup was distracted with floating cobwebs and puffs of dust, Tal stooped lower and swooped up the puppy, praying she didn't drop the flashlight in the scuffle. She immediately snugged it close to her chest and spun to hurry it upstairs before the wiggling thing dropped out of her arms. This pup was definitely bigger than the average pup!
She nearly ran smack into Yuki and Wolfie. "Let's get this pup upstairs!" THe wriggling pup was getting too much for Tal to hold it and the flashlight, and so she tried to flip the flashlight to Wolfie. But it wobbled, twirled, and then toppled, hitting the floor of the crawlspace with a loud thud.

There was a whirl of action and suddenly things were dark. Wolfie jumped and landed into Yuki. Glancing around, her eyes darting for something to grab hold of, she spotted the hole in the floor.
"Two choices," She began hesitantly. "We feel around in the dark for the flashlight or we make a dash for the light." Either choice held lots of creepy things that could occur.

Tal has already made her decision. She was darting for the stair room. She shouted for Morgana as she went. "Morgana, I need you at the hole! Come grab a puppy I am going to shove up to you! Carry him out of the stair room into the hallway please!" By now she was at the hole in teh floor and had lifted the pup and plopped him on the floor above her.
Morgana perked her ears, hearing Talencia call. She was at the hole in the floor in a heartbeat, ready to obey. When the dusty brown fluffball appeared, she gently picked him up by the scruff of his neck and bounded out the door and into the brightly lit hallway. She set him down beside Tira. "Here is your whining clicity, Tira. What do you think?"
Tira, of course, immedately nosed the pup all over. She gave a single explosive sneeze at all the dust the pup had collected in his coat. Then she placed one steady paw on the scared puppy and laid down. Gently she began to groom the pup, patiently licking him to get the stray cobwebs and dirt off of him.
Tal, meanwhile, hefted herself up through the hole, then poked her head back in to peer into the darkness. "Could one of you maybe find my flashlight? Please?"

"That was a cheap shot." Wolfie laughed as she heard Tal dash for the stair room. "You're lucky you didnt run into a beam." Speaking of which, Wolfie felt unusually close to one.
As she bent down to scour the floor for the lost flashlight, Her hand ran across something small and solid. It clattered a few inches and sat silent. It was uniquely cool yet warmed to her touch. Reaching for it again, she let her fingers grasp around it. "I think I found something else. Im going to bring it out with me." She clutched it and rolled the tiny object around, it heating up as she spoke.
"Yuki, do you feel that flashlight anywhere near you?"

Yuki follower Tal's light to a dusty little moonlit. She couldn't help but think of how frail Hakana looked when she found her. Just as battered and dirty, yet this moonlit seemed much larger than Hakana. Then again...so was everyone else.
As Tal ran past, she watched as the flashlight fell. She would have grabbed it, had Wolfie not landed on her. It seems Yuki and Wolfie would be really close after all.
She fell to her needs and crawled, trying to keep up with the flashlight. It stopped, with a light clunk, against the side of a beam, where Yuki scooped it up. She ran towards the whole and called to Wolfie. "Yup! I got the flashlight!" She found Wolfie. "What did you find?"
Hakana, who was now wide awake in the common room, faintly heard her owner's calls. She trotted out of the room to find her and came across Tira with the new puppy. She went over to the new pup and sniffed him. The dust in his fur caused her to sneeze, blowing up loose dust and dirt from the pup. She wriggled her nose a little and nudged the puppy, wanting to play.
