Obscene is the bliss of the wicked old hag
Voice cracked and shaken with time
Alert is the conscience of the young mum
Ready and poised with lessons to burn
Into the daughter, whose heart is a game
And whose health is of no concern
Never does she realize what her losses can be
Can anybody tell her what she doesn't hear?
Are any of the answers whispering in her ear?
Noise, a solemn whisper, there's trouble afoot
Call out the need for something more
Easily she can miss it, not knowing that it's there
Really, she can lose so much, with nary a noting care
Ugghh, I really shouldn't do acrostics.
This could count as team art and/or for the contest; if we're allowed multiple entries.

I Only Knew Her Face
I met a little lady
Whose face was soft and bright
I met a little lady
Who went quietly in the night
I hadn't known her name
Or the burden that she bore
I only knew her face
And not a thing more
I hadn't known of the slightness
Of the pressure above her thighs
I hadn't noticed the softer breaths
Or the weariness in her eyes
I'd met the little lady
Under the clear morning lights
Who'd have known the pretty baby
Would bear the mourning rights?
And I was her accomplice
Unwittingly all along
But my sweet sorrows were friendly
While hers played out the swan song
...
