"Of course you didn't! I was too fast for you." She snickered, swatting at his hand as it left her plate. She put her hand on the table, using two fingers to "walk" toward Leif's plate again.
Terrie cocked her head, the statement making her pause, then fall into a fit of giggles, making her press her fist to her mouth. "And we've had our fair share of suprises." She said, playful eyes peeking over at Mersi and Leif and resting her hand tenderly on Emris' shoulder for a moment.

Reaching up Emris squeezed Terrie's hand, "Very good surprises indeed." He murmured moving around to kiss her cheek. A small smirk played on his lips, "So you can see that sometimes secrets and surprises have to stay that way."
"You weren't!" Muttered Leif before mimicking his sister with his own hand. "I dare you try to pass me, sister." He whispered acting out his 'hand man'.

Mersi giggled before turning in her seat to face her brother a slight more directly, to show off her challenging grin. "You really wanna do that?" She cooed, her hand creeping closer.
Terrie frowned. "Can you at least assure me these secrets of yours don't include Leif?" Her eyes searched his face openly, trying to make sure her family wasn't being put into danger, no matter the intentions behind it. She didn't know the secret, but the fact that he was hiding it so carefully worried her.

"A true man of honor and strength feels no fear." Growled Leif for his dancing fingers as they moved to block Mersi's hand. His mouth turned up in a sneaky grin as his other hand tried to secretly move towards her plate.
From the corner of his eye, Emris watched as his children challenged each other in a game. "Why?" Asked Emris softly his gaze now completely focused back on Terrie. "Leif is growing up you know, they all are." He sighed and looked wistful for a second before giving a kind smile to Terrie, "I can't reject all of their wishes. But I promise you that when it involves me, there is nothing allowed that threatens his life."

Mersi sighed dramaticly. "I told dad to stop putting ideas into your head. Only getting your hopes up." She was focused on the two dueling hands, but it's hard to be sneaky when they're facing each other. "Cavalry!" She suddenly yelped, her front paws raising up to catch Leif's 'sneaking' hand and tried to pin it to his seat.
"Do they have to grow?" She asked Emris with a pout, starting to feel embarassed. She knew she should let the kids expand their horizons, but they were still her children. She wanted to know what they were getting themselves into.
When Mersi suddenly broke the dinnertime hush in the air, Terrie nearly jumped out of her seat. "Honestly Mersi!" She said sternly, eyes narrowed at her daughter.

"Psh!" Leif growled baring his sharp canines he tried to navigate his now free hand while Mersi was distracted. But his gaze swerved to meet his mother's as he quickly moved in the way of Mersi, "Sorry, mom! That was my fault." He apologized before Mersi could speak and his ears pressed down against his skull.
"Unfortunately." Replied Emris before following Terrie's gaze. A small hidden nod to Leif and the teen returned it though he never truly broke his direct gaze with his mother.

Terrie put her hand to her forehead and sighed. "You two. If you must, take it outside." Then she stood and started clearing the table off silently.
Mersi looked at Leif in suprise. Did he just take the blame?! She looked between Terrie and Leif, unsure what to say.
"Well, dinner was great mom. Think I'll go for a walk. This room needs flowers." She said quickly, jumping up from the table. She paused long enough to look at Leif and ruffle his hair in a playful thank you.
Then she headed outside, initially aiming for the flower feild but planning a side trip to her tree.

Emris watched as Leif slowly followed his sister out of the kitchen before he stood and started to help Terrie to clear the table. "They're still just children at times. " He mused out loud with a soft chuckle. Carrying some of the dishes to the sink were they could be washed, his tail brushed comfortingly along Terrie's flank.
It had taken him a second but after a second, Leif realized why his heart had lurched at hearing the word flowers. Though there were several places where flowers grew, only one area had them in vast amounts of color. That was the place where he had lazily left some tools outside from their hiding place.
He had to make sure Mersi wasn't going in that direction or if she was, he needed to change her mind quickly. Unless he could beat her there. Leif sighed and closed the door behind him, his paws pounding softly on the grass as he moved to catch up with Mersi.

Terrie sighed, feeling his comforting touch, and once Leif had left set her plate down that she'd been cleaning. "I'm sorry. I just- I'm not used to how children grow so fast. I've never been around children, since I can't remember my own childhood... It seems hard to understand them growing." She stared down at the plate as if it could put her worries to rest and tell her all the answers.
Once she had reached the woods, Mersi slowed to a quick trot. Making less noise herself, her sharp ears picked up the gentle thump of someone running toward her. Narrowing her eyes, she jumped to hide behind a tree. It was too light a step to be mom or dad... She was right. Soon, Leif came into view. Why was he following her. She'd said she was getting flowers... He wouldn't be interested in that. She crouched lower, watching him.

Emris returned to Terrie and placed his arms around her shoulders in a hug. "Hey, it's fine." His voice was soft and full of sympathy as he murmured in her ear. "No matter what, they'll always be our sweet adorable children." Emris sighed, "They're just teens yet, I'm missing them already too as if they have grown and left. Not that they ever will." He nuzzled his mate, "Who would ever leave behind such a wonderful mother? No matter what, I feel that our family will always be close and strong." He nodded to comfort Terrie and himself with the thought.
Reaching the edge of the flower field, Leif sighed in relief. "So she wasn't here." Yet, it was weird. Why hadn't he spotted her after reaching the woods? Leif laughed and shook his head at his own worries, "Must've went our opposite ways." Still his eyes traveled over to the bushes lining the field and he was relieved to see that nothing was obviously sticking out.

Terrie leaned into Emris' stong embrace, wrapping her arms around his waist. Nodding gently, she started to smile. "Oh, they'll just want to keep their daddy close at hand. They're turning out like you so much." She kissed his neck, pulling back a little to look at his face, touching it gently with her hand. "I love you."
Mersi stalked silently after her brother, keeping as much distance as she could. She'd secretly been taking tracking lessons from an adult at the market, and was getting good at it. Slinking up, she frowned at the flower field. What was he doing there? She nearly growled, hating not knowing what was going on. Her eyes returned to Leif, continuing her silent watch on him. Looking for any kind of clue.

"Not just me." Whispered Emris with a soft grin as he looked at his mate. His hand closed over the hand that touched his face and Emris leaned in to kiss Terrie, "I know, beloved." His eyes shone at hearing her say those precious words before he kissed her.
Leif's ears twitched and so he paused in the middle of the field. His father and uncle had warned him that his instincts must be trusted at times, and well he felt that his original plan was suddenly a bad idea. Instead Leif turned and went over to one of the patches of wildflowers and started to sort through them, if Mersi did end up coming this way he'd be ready. After all he could just hand her a bouquet of what he figured would be her favorite flowers. There was no need to rearrange anything just yet.

Terrie sighed softly, hands cradling Emris' face. Then running her free hand down his back, feeling the strong muscles. Her tail started to twitch playfully. Pulling back, she listened a moment. The kids weren't nearby...
Giggling, she smiled up at Emris and started tugging him toward their bedroom, nipping at his fingertips as she went.
Eyes confused, Mersi crouched perfectly still. No way Leif was really out here to pick flowers...
Her eyes caught a small rock next to her. Picking it up, she tossed it out into the field. It landed on the opposite side of Leif with a thump.

Emris chuckled as he realized what Terrie was thinking. Playfully he paused before following her and closing the door behind them.
Instantly Leif dropped the flowers and spun around to face what had made the noise. His canines showed in the light as he growled defensively. Yet, Leif stopped and paused, sniffing the air lightly."Whose there?" He called out suddenly as he crouched down ready to leap in case it was an attacker.

Terrie: ((doing naughty things that don't belong in a public rp)) whee
Mersi cocked her head. Leif was awfully twitchy. She looked at his back, noticing how tense he was. She was irritated again, and jumped up. "What are you following me for Leif!?" She snapped at him, glaring in full force.
