Jobless
9/6/10

The migraine was still ever-present as it had been since its acquisition, but Seth felt he was well enough to at least try going to work today. He had missed too many days as it was, and he couldn’t afford to possibly miss any more. That being said, there was a distinct feeling of dread in the pit of his stomach when the manager asked him into his office before he could even punch in his time card.

“Why don’t you take a seat,” the manager invited, gesturing to the chair opposite his desk. Seth sat down quietly, waiting for what he knew had to be coming. The manager let out a heavy sigh before starting. “Seth, you’re a good kid and a very hard worker, but I have to be frank with you: You’ve missed too much work. I know it’s all been sick leave and that you more than make up for it after the fact, but we just can’t afford to keep someone this unreliable on the payroll.” The cheetah Hyte said nothing, still waiting for the final ax to fall.

The manager seemed to study him for a moment before continuing.
“Look, you really are a very diligent worker when your present, and I don’t want to mess up your chances at any future jobs. I would strongly suggest that you resign.” He let that statement hang in the air.

So the choice was resign or be fired? Wasn’t exactly a very difficult choice. “Very well, sir,” Seth replied, speaking for the first time since arriving this morning. “If you don’t mind then, I would like to resign for my position.” Although perhaps ‘positions’ might have been more correct, as he usually just filled in whatever happened to need filling at the time.

The man nodded.
“I will take care of the paper work. In the meantime, I’d suggest you go back home and get some more rest. You still look like hell.”

The cheetah Hyte smiled ever so faintly. “Understood. Thank you.” That could have all gone much worse, but unfortunately the end result was basically the same. He was now jobless.

What to Do?
9/6/10

Seth let out a small groan as he sank back into his bed. Great, his brain was still a painful and muddled mess from his accidental journey into Sabra Sabina’s mind, and now he was jobless to boot. How am I going to pay the rent? he wondered to himself. After all, when they had first moved into the apartment it had been four people pulling together to pay the rent. Currently it was just down to him and Haevan, so things were already a bit tight financially. He could always ask his mother for a loan—she would have no qualms with lending him the money--, but he’d really rather not let it get to that point. He would need to find a new job rather quickly.

But what could he possibly do that wouldn’t meet the same end? There was no telling how much more ‘sick leave’ he might need in the future as a direct or indirect result of his training, and what was he to do when it came time for missions? There was no way to predict how long those would take or when they would even occur. It was a predicament for sure. I need a job where I get paid for the hours worked, yet at the same time am not committed to coming in a certain amount of hours a week. … Right. That’ll be easy to find. Such jobs probably existed somewhere, but he was much to fuzzy right now to be able to think if just what those might be. The next few weeks were going to be interesting…

[PRP] Something in the Water? [Eli and Seth]

Summary: Eli stops by the apartment and in the course of things discovers a little gift from Mena in Seth's nightstand. Admissions of training and guinea pig-hood are made, but the catalyst still remains hidden from the kuppy.

Completely OOC Non-Cannon Crack IM Conversation: Seth & Eli
9/10/10
(This is was a twist on how the conversation COULD have gone in Something in the Water when Eli found the pills in Seth's drawer. Completely non-cannon, but recording it anyway cause it was lulzy.)

Eli: *quirks brow* A star sticker?

Seth: Yeah. Um, that's the nighttime one. The other is for daytime use.

Eli: .....I hadn't realized that was common pharmaceutical process, stickering. Or you had your own stickers?

Seth: ... A little girl at work actually.

Eli: ....uh huh. And the star bottle just happens to faintly reek of magic.

Seth: Yup.

Eli: Really. That's fascinating.

Seth: Isn't it? Works wonders for migraines.

Eli: Because of the magic?

Seth: Perhaps. Not really sure. I should probably switch pharmacies, shouldn't I.

Eli: I'm going to hazard a guess and say 'yes'. If indeed you got that from a pharmacy.

Seth: I'll make a note of that then.

Eli: Of course, this couldn't have anything to do with my mother's mad schemes to manufacture drugs that give people magic.

Seth: Nah, that would be too simple of an answer.

Eli: Are you familiar with Occam's Razor? It says the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

Seth: Oh? I hadn't heard that before. Very interesting.

Eli: So Occam's Razor leads me to believe you are accepting drugs from my mother. Also you have a migraine, which, while attributable to non-magic activities, is also what you got out of manifesting telepathy. So, you know, I'm just wondering if there's something you'd like to tell me.

Seth: No, not particularly.

Eli: Or something you'd rather not tell me? *quirks eyebrow*

Seth: ... Perhaps.

Eli: ....uh huh. Well. If you ever do feel like telling me why you feel the need to give yourself migraines, do feel free to let me know. And you can't be practicing on your own... *eyes narrow as he runs through the possibilities from his end*

Seth: *smiles* I didn't realize getting migraines required practice.

Eli: Oh, you might be surprised. They do tend to have triggers...like telepathy.

Seth: Hm, that does sound like it would be a good trigger. I hear red meat also triggers migraines though, and I do tend to eat a LOT of that...

Eli: If that were the case, I think you'd have started having them a long time ago. Also Dacj would point and laugh at you, because if it's really a trigger then you'd be smart to start giving it up, right? What is it she says? The 'carnivorus carnivore'...reduced to vegetables.

Seth: That would suck like hell. v.v I hope that's not what's causing it then. By the way, how is Kamiko doing? I haven't seen her in quite a while.

Eli: Mmm, well, if we go to my way of thinking, then you wouldn't have to give up meat, would you? *he chuckles at the distraction attempt* She's been out and about a lot; training, mostly. Different sort of training than you've been doing, I think; Kamiko wouldn't really go along with magic-in-a-pill.

Seth: *blinks* Training? What makes you say that?

Eli: You know, for the magic. That you get when you take these pills.

Seth: I was told those were migraine pills. Have I been taking the wrong medicine? =o

Eli: If my mother told you those were migraine pills, then her ethics are worse than I'd suspected.

Seth: I don't believe your mother is a pharmacy.

Eli: She has the equipment. She has to, to manufacture magic pills.

Seth: Hm, that would make sense. Perhaps I should ask my pharmacist if she knows Mena.

[E-mail RP] Port-Hole Drop In
9/13/10 - 9/15/10

Quote:
It had been too long since last she got out. The first time she mistakenly took a Port-hole which brought her to the Hytech kitchen. There she got to see Hunter and was glad he was doing well. From the sound of things he hadn't caused too much trouble which was always a good thing.

Now that she was once again free, confiscating yet another port-hole object she wanted to be sure that this time she could visit Seth. “Alright! Take me home. I want to go home!” She confirmed and quickly stepped into the port-hole just as the door to her room was burst open. The exasperated look on Kuu’s face along with the royal guards was all Noelani needed to realize this might be her last chance. “Take me back!”

With all the glitter and glam that came from teleporting through such a contraption, Noe wondered if this were anything like how her brother felt when he trained with all that magical stuff? Ah well, by the time the light show was over she found herself laid out on something soft. “Hm?” It was really soft and warm, and with one eye open it had spots and… wait a minute! Sitting up she wasn’t surprised that she had landed on the object of her visit. It was more the fact that she landed on him in the middle of bathing rituals. “SEEEEETH!” Oh well the initial idea of being embarrassed could barely outweigh her happiness of finally being reunite, however brief it would be. “I missed you!”

Thus far it had been a rather uneventful day. Thankfully the seemingly unending migraine had finally passed, and the cheetah Hyte was able to function normally once again. He spent much of the morning researching job possibilities, but he was having little success thus far. It wasn't going to be easy finding a part-time job that met the criteria he needed at the moment. Just a bit frustrated with his lack of success and still quite a bit stressed about the whole jobless situation, he figured a shower might at least help to clear his head a bit before he continued the search.

Seth could have never anticipated such events as next transpired. Just as he was nearly done showering, there was a sudden barrage of sparkles—followed by his long absent fiancée being dumped atop of him. The cheetah Hyte was shocked to say the least, and any and all previous thoughts immediately left his mind. “Noe?!” he exclaimed, eyes wide in surprise as he stared at the kuppy atop of him, hardly able to believe she was actually there-- and with such an unexpected entrance. The surprise was quickly replaced with joy, however, and he smiled warmly at her greeting. “I’ve missed you too, Noe,” he replied, wrapping his arms around her in a loving hug. Of course, that was when he realized that the shower head was still raining water down on them both and that he wasn’t exactly ‘decent’ at the moment. “Of course, if you wished to see me so badly you didn’t have to ambush me in the shower you know.” He was joking, of course, but really he was just truly happy beyond belief to see her again. It seemed as if it had been so long...

“Oh hush you… I have a right to see you indecent or not.” Sitting up she helped the poor cheetah to his feet minding her eyes of other things. “I’ll… just be outside. Hurry up.” She demanded rushing out of the shower. Grabbing a towel on her way to their room she flopped on the bed glad to be home and more glad to have found Seth indecent an all, though she might have to adjust her use of the port-hole better.

While she waited she looked around the room, nothing looked out of place. Even her things were still as they were when she left, however many were left. She could only wonder if he resented her leaving so abruptly. Well even if he did she had a reason and being here now she could at least explain to him the situation. As crazy as it would seem too.

The cheetah Hyte was quick to finish up what was left of his shower, turning off the water and toweling off after. Now if only fur didn’t take so long to dry… Oh, screw it. He was dry enough.

Seth returned to the bedroom only a few minutes after Noe, quickly grabbing a pair of pants out of the dresser and pulling them on before joining her on the bed. “It would seem that you have a magic side of your own,” he remarked with a small smile, tail curling its way around her waist as it usually did. “Glad to have you home.” He didn’t know yet whether this was permanent or temporary, but he definitely hoped it was the former. “How have you been?”

Noe giggled glade to be home but she knew it was only temporary. The magic was too much for her to handle in one sitting and she’d be whisked back whether she liked it or not. “I’m doing good.” She replied looking around the room a bit skittishly. After a moment she calmed and hugged into him for comfort and support. “I don’t have any magic… well none I can actually use. I just have an affinity toward magic items and objects.” She explained. Though she wasn’t all that sure herself how it worked she just touched the things and images flashed in her mind all the goodies on how they worked. “What have you been up to baby?”

“Well, so long as you know your limits,” he said with a smile, running his fingers lightly through her hair as she snuggled into him. He had missed this. The cheetah Hyte had to chuckle though when she asked what he had been up to. “To much to remember it all likely,” he replied. “Mostly work and various trips to the Cottage, though things have been settling down lately. What about you? You and Kuuro spending a lot of time together?” That was why she had left after all, right? Or at least what he had heard about it thus far. “I do hope Ruby was able to find you with my return letter.” ‘Ruby’ being the little crimson firelizard with which he had sent the message, who was currently fast asleep on the couch in the living room. At least that was where he had left her before going to shower.

“Yep I got her message easily enough.” Given that she was being guarded 24-7 these days. The trip she thought she was taking with Kuu was slightly different than expected. A bit fun but also a bit too restricted. “Apparently Kuu’s memories are back and she happens to be a queen from some far off galaxy.” No wonder Noe was so into otherworldly demi-gods or what have you. She sighed and snuggled into him more. “Her mother is rather strict with me, being her adoptive daughter and all. Hell even Kuu isn’t the queen’s real daughter.” She smiled nudging Seth a bit. “And to top it off, Kuu put a spell on herself to forget who she was from the past. Only recently did she remember after my kidnapping. Those folks were from a neighboring planet that weren’t after me because I was a bounty hunter but they knew my connections to Kuu. They were going to ransom me off but no one knew that Kuu had forgotten her place.” Noe simply laughed, the whole thing was a stupid calculation on that brat’s falt. And to top that he lost the kuppy in the process to some bounty who were going to ransom her off to them … or something like that. Whatever the case it seemed a lot was going on where Kuu was concerned and Noe had to stick with it to clear her name. “I’m sort of using my abilities to better train myself. I might come back with souvenirs and despite what they want, I don’t want a throne or kingdom to worry over. I just want to be with you. So don’t worry. I’ll still be me once all this is cleared up.”

Seth listen in silence as Noe told the whole tale, and at the end he had to shake his head. “I think your family must be cursed when it comes to empires,” he remarked wryly, smiling faintly as he gave her a small kiss. At least what she described didn’t sound nearly as bad as the business on Phanes. And from what he had heard, it didn’t sound like there were any Ti’ama or Contractors or chaos taint involved either. “I gather from what you have told me then that this business isn’t over with. Do be careful, Love.” He hated the thought that he was going to have to part with her again soon, but for now he could at least enjoy their time together. However short that may be.

Noe nodded snuggling into his warmth for a little longer. She hated the idea of having to leave him but there didn’t seem to be much option. While she could use magic items they all had limits and once that limit was reached she was always whisked back to the palace a little dizzy but not without her bearings. “I’m not sure how much time is left on this thing. I can only activate it but with time and training I’ll be able to bypass the limit on items like this. Heck who knows I might be able to tap into magic portals without using objects its only a matter of feeling them out.” She could dream maybe or maybe not but there was a positive side to her magic training, she didn’t have to feel so inferior to her brother anymore. She’d show him eventually, and once she was confident enough, she’d have to challenge Hunter once and for all. Once she was able to get one over on him then she knew her training was complete. She could be a fully fledged hunter then. “I have heard through the grape vine that you’ve been hanging out with my family. So has anything interesting happen?” That was the understatement of the year. She knew her family was over the top but somehow she always seemed left out.

“Grapevine? I just admitted as much a few moments ago,” Seth replied with a laugh, amused by her way of asking. “Well, let’s see… Another virus escaped from your mother’s lab not too long ago. That was fun.” Actually, come to think about it he wasn’t even sure if Noe had been aware of the first one or not. He couldn’t remember if he had recounted that tale. “She’s figured out how to create temporary magic. Gives you sugar cravings like you wouldn’t believe though.” He grimaced at that, still disliking anything sweet on his tastebuds. “That was about the most recent major event. Otherwise I just visit on occasion.”

“Sugar cravings?” The idea of Seth liking sweets sounded well sweet but she doubted he approved. Such was the case, if only. “Sorry to hear that.” She replied but wasn’t sure how else to respond to her mother’s antics. The woman was a league of her own and then some. One just kind of had to roll with the punches and hope for the best where Mena was concern. Was it like that with her, Noe wondered? Oh well Seth had no complaints that she knew of so it all worked out. “Well as long as you’re getting along with the family then I won’t have to do too much once we’re married.” And all honesty she was thankful for that. No one disapproved which made it all the easier. By now she was beginning to get a headache the sign of the limit magic on the port-hole running its course. “Crap.” She muttered snuggling closer to Seth. “I guess I better get going. The limit magic is going to break and I hate being yanked back so abruptly, it’s really a pain.” In more than one way she thought. “I’m sorry I couldn’t be around longer but if I keep training I’ll be able to break this stupid limit and visit you however long I want.” Actually the point was to break the limit but that was left for another observation. “You take care of yourself okay.” Leaning in to give him a big hug and a lingering kiss she reached out her hand, summoning the port-hole. “Be a good boy while I’m gone.” She informed before slipping into the hole half her body floating in thin air. “I’m going to miss you lots!”

The sugar cravings honestly wouldn’t have been so bad had his taste preferences changes along with it as well actually, but that was only a minor down-side in the grand scheme of things. The cheetah Hyte was more than disappointed by the announcement she made soon after. “So soon?” he replied with a frown. The cheetah Hyte returned the hug and kiss, reluctant for them to break apart. “You take care of yourself, as well, Noe,” he said as she began to slip into the hole. “Train hard and visit again as soon as you can.”

“I’ll return some day. Just hang in there for me okay.” She had plans to hopefully bring him along one day so he could see Kuu’s world. It was by far beautiful. “I’ll keep in touch.” She informed and slowly slipping through the portal. With a sprinkle of light and color she was gone the whole disappearing with a simple. Pop!

“Good bye, my love,” he said quietly, a melancholy note in his voice as he watched her disappear through the portal. He had been so happy when he had seen her (despite the more than awkward circumstances), but it seemed a mere flash that she was already gone again. How long was this all going to last? Matters of royal lines never seemed to be settled quickly…

It was at this point that Ruby teleported into the bedroom and fluttered onto Seth’s shoulder, expressing her concern for him with light crooning and the usual emotional accompaniment. Why was he so sad when before he had felt happy?

“I’ll be fine,” he said with a sigh, stroking the flitter lightly on the head. It was silent between them for a moment before the cheetah Hyte realized something. “Hey you never told me you had to go to another planet to deliver that message,” he remarked in a mock accusatory tone.

The flit cocked her head, not understanding what he meant. She displayed for him an image of the kuppy female he had shown her. He asked her to take it to her, and she did!

He was amused by the nonverbal reply. “Yes, yes, you did well,” he remarked with a chuckle, stroking her eye ridges much to the flit’s delight. That had to have been a long trip Between though. Seth would definitely be using her again for future messages. He just hoped it wouldn't have to be for very long.

~The Training Continues~

[Hytech PRP] Some Things are Just Mind-Blowing

Summary: Session two of training with the former merqueen has been scheduled, and there is an unexpected guest present to help out with the current lesson. A new skill is learned, but it will take much practice to be able to use it effectively, along with perhaps some additional help.

The Second Letter
10/04/10

It had only been a little over three weeks since Seth had last seen or heard from Noe, but it certainly felt like much longer. During the free time the cheetah Hyte had been practicing the mind blast technique-- a lot. Not that he actually used it on anyone, but he needed to be able to increase the speed and efficiency with which he could create the packets to be dropped. Through a painful amount of practice (painful in both the length and in the headaches that often resulted after the fact), he had managed to reduce the process down from a few minutes to about twenty seconds. That was good, but still nowhere near good enough to be used in an actual emergency. Especially since the thought bombs would need to be much bigger than he was currently able to make them.

After having finished practice today, Seth was sitting at his desk, idly petting a currently very content firelizard. Finally, after some thought, he picked up a pen and began to write on the blank sheet of paper before him.

Dear Noe,

I hope this letter finds you well. How have you been lately? I know you probably have a lot on your plate given what you told me last time. Do be careful and take care of yourself.

Not too much has really been happening around here. Been doing a bit of self-studying, but otherwise nothing too exciting. I have heard rumor though that there will be more Hytes running around soon, so that is certainly something to look forward to. Hytech has been rather empty over the past few months-- Well, other than that one small party during the summer, but even then, other than our families, there was hardly anyone who came.

I wish you the best of luck with your continued training, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Love,
Seth

Once he had completed the letter, the cheetah Hyte checked it over a couple of times to see if there was anything else he wished to add before sealing it in an envelope. He didn’t bother going into the specifics of his training and studying, for frankly he didn’t want to be spreading that around too much. The only reason Eli even knew about it was because he had found the pills in his drawer. No, this sort of thing was best kept quiet. Especially considering that he had no real interest in pursuing magic at all. “Alright, Ruby, I’ve got another job for you,” he said, giving the crimson another gentle stroke on the eye ridge.

She crooned in pleasure at the petting and attention, and tilted her head in a slightly questioning manner. Where did he want her to go?

The cheetah Hyte took care in attaching the envelope to her leg before answering the question. “Take this letter to Noe,” he said, picturing the kuppy Hyte very clearly in his mind as he gave Ruby the instructions. “And bring back any letter she might write in reply. Do you know where to go?”

The crimson chirruped in affirmation, and once she was ready she jumped up into the air before passing Between.

Seth looked at the spot where she had disappeared for a moment before grabbing a book back up off his desk and continuing his studying where he had left off. Hopefully the information he learned in this book would never have to be used.

[PM RP] Special Delivery!
10/05/10 - 10/06/10

Quote:
It had taken much longer than Twilight had expected--not to acquire the powerstone he now carried to Reira's pupil, but to tweak its parameters to a more preferred setting for the young telepath. Of course, he hadn't done the tweaking; that was a job for the once-Athena, who had taken her sweet time about the task. He had been somewhat glad of the excuse to linger near the Cottage in hopes of speaking to the sybil again, but she was either purposefully avoiding him or he had horrendous timing. Either was quite possible. Still, it was frustrating to have had not even that much of a triumph to show for the wait, but the stone was ready now and the boy would no doubt appreciate the help.

As he landed in his natural form, he caught a 'feel' of magic from inside the dwelling that was his goal--the boy was practicing. Good. He placed the padded package he carried in his beak delicately on the ground before him. Next the phoenix spread his wings to their span and concentrated on shifting his form to the human one he was accustomed to wearing, wings shifting into nothingness last of all as the man sighed. Such a pity to lose them, but they weren't practical for human dwellings. He stooped to retrieve the package before knocking on the apartment door.

Seth was surprised by the knock on the door, as he hadn't been expecting any visitors today. "Coming," he called, getting up from his seat on the couch and walking over to the front door. The cheetah Hyte was just as surprised to find out who was on the other side. "Ah, Lord Twilight. Please, come in," he said, stepping out of the way while holding the door open. "Anything I can help you with?"

"Not quite, though I do have something for you," the man said as he entered, offering what appeared to be a thoroughly padded cloth envelope to Seth. "I am truly sorry it took so long, but I am told to rush a master's work is the same as asking for trouble." Given that the 'master' in question and the one who'd given the advice were one and the same...well, Athena did like to get her last word in, didn't she?

"At any rate, it should now be immediately ready for use...if you would like to test it," he added, gesturing to the package. Best to make sure the effort was not in vain, for one, and the first time channeling through an object was always something that required a bit of guidance, generally.

Ah, the power stone! he thought as he accepted the envelope from Twilight. "Ah, no need to worry. I didn't even think it would be ready this soon myself. Thank you." He was very grateful for their help in all of this, and with the aide of this stone he might finally be able to do something useful to help out the missions. Not to mention it would likely make training much easier.

"Testing it would probably be good," he agreed, opening the cloth wrapping to find a small purplish blue stone inside, about three inches long and fairly cylindrical aside from one end that tapered out into a point. He pulled out the stone and held it carefully in the palm of his hand. "Um... How exactly does one use this?"

"In your case, I think it would be best to focus first on the stone, as if it were a single person, and from there channel through to whatever end you need. For things such as the mind blast, early on it may help you to physically point at your target while channeling--though the physical gesture isn't strictly necessary." Twilight paused, his brow furrowing slightly. "There is a...echo of sentience left in the heart of the stone. This one has been worked to amplify that echo enough that your telepathy should be able to recognize it as an individual mind--albeit a very simplistic one." Best to warn him, though the 'mind' that remained bore no imprint of Phoenekeia personally--it was a blank slate, really. She'd said it would likely take on some of the user's characteristics with time and use; he was somewhat surprised she hadn't chose to preload any of database memories into it. True telepaths were hard to come by even in that group though...probably best to keep it simple, anyway.

"Right," Seth replied with a nod of understanding. It all sounded simple enough in theory. Might as well give it a try. Tentatively, he reached out with his telepathy to find the 'mind' of the stone, which surprisingly (to him at least) he located quite easily. 'Simplistic' seemed a bit of an understatement though, cause what Seth was reading was completely blank. Huh. Interesting. How should I test this out though? ... Well, Twilight was in the room with him. He could always see if he couldn't make a bigger and stronger mindblast than before, but that wouldn't exactly be very polite. So instead he settled on a simpler but equally effective method of testing.

Using the stone as a conductor, the cheetah Hyte quickly stretched his range out as far as possible to see how wide it would get. He couldn't make it all the way to the end of his range, however, before having to quickly retreat from the pain of the noise in his mind. "Wow. It's very impressive," he remarked to Twilight, rubbing his head idly. "Ah, would you like anything to drink?" How did he keep forgetting to ask?

The Hyte male could barely have scratched the surface of T'gillan's potential--if he thought he knew what 'impressive' meant, he was in for a few surprises, the phoenix thought with amusement. Twilight smiled. "I am fine, thank you. I did not intend to impose upon your hospitality very long...unless you had any questions for me? I have told Reira you should have a few days at least to practice with the stone informally before she puts you through her somewhat more grueling paces. I believe I am to sit in at least once more in your lessons." Ah, mindblasting with the aid of the stone...well, the phoenix had probably endured worse as a byproduct of training sessions.

"It is no imposition at all," Seth assured the other with a smile. "I can't really think of any other questions just yet, but if I think of any I will be sure to ask." He was also quite grateful that he would have a few days to practice with the stone first to at least get used to it. The next couple of lessons with Reira were likely to be quite intense.

"I am at your service," Twilight replied with a nod, formally solemn. "Things will no doubt begin to move more quickly soon. Sabina's contact in the Imperial Court has more freedom to move now, I'm told," he added, as a cautious warning to Seth that the intensity of his training would only get worse. But the agent was one even he trusted, at least as far as they could trust any of them.

"I will be sure to keep that in mind then," Seth replied. He would need to practice long and hard to be ready. Mistakes could not be made on an actual mission. Which reminded him, he'd probably need to do a bit of study on the Empire as well so as not to give anything away by his ignorance. "Are you sure you wouldn't like anything?"

"Quite sure," Twilight reassured him. "In fact, I should be going." He smiled, and offered one last piece of knowledge unasked for. "The masterwork powerstones are all given designation names...such as 'the Link' wielded by Aikatyrine, or 'ona'Shawm' kept by the Clans. The one you hold is called T'gillan."

"T'gillan, right. I will definitely try to remember that." Even if the stone wasn't alive, it couldn't hurt to know it's name. "Well, feel free to stop by anytime you wish. I really do appreciate your help." The cheetah Hyte escorted Twilight out and they bid their farewells before he came back inside. ...T'gillan, eh? Well, it looks like we have a lot of practice ahead of us. Back to building mindblast bombs.

IM Conversation: Seth & Kisuke
9/08/10 - 10/11/10
*takes place shortly after Seth has lost his job*

*prior discussion of initial plots for our characters*

Seth: Lots of things don't always turn out as planned it seems. ^_^; Life can be full of surprises.

Kisuke: Indeed! But surprises are good, even if they make you nervous sometimes @__@

Pope: Admittedly Kisuke doesn't know what those plots were xDD I do like how it turned out though!

elf: haha. XD Unfortunately for Seth, on some level he is aware of the terrors we plot. XD; Fortunately, that's mostly just in the semi-ooc world. XD

Seth: Yes. -_-; Parents should not be allowed to come together and collaborate on what 'crack' to try on us next. *clears throat and turns to Kisuke* So, how have you been? ^^;

Kisuke: Crack should be illegal! :< I've been doing pretty well, though - and you? I know...well, I know you get up to much more than I do!

Seth: Heh, I have been... well. ^_^; I'm not up to much most times actually. It's when I visit the Cottage that things usually turn into a bit more of an adventure. And yes, crack should be illegal.

Kisuke: Visiting the Cottage? Do you go often? :3 I hope it's not too dangerous - I keep hearing about tentacle monsters. @_@

Seth: *chuckles* Nah, don't worry about them. They're locked down in the basement and are harmless enough (unless you're Eli). I go visit on occasion. =) It's never a boring visit to say the least.

Kisuke: A-ahh, well. I'm sure it's very lively there. n___n ;;;; What do you do when you're not visiting, then? I hope you're not too bored by comparison. /out of the Cottage-dwellers, the ones he interacts with the most are the two Christmas hytes, and he's never seen them in their natural environment, so to speak

Seth: Well, work generally speaking, but in free time a small variety of things I suppose. Read, listen to music, take care of stuff around the apartment, that sort of thing. *which unfortunately he now has much more free time than before...*

Kisuke: A-aaah.. I always feel like I'm not doing anything at home...I'm still in school, see. And. And then I'll go out and buy sweets ._.

Seth: Nothing wrong with still being in school. Some classes can be quite interesting. ^_^ What sort of sweets do you like?

Kisuke: They can be! n___n I just feel bad not...doing anything. I like almost any sweets! As long as they're...actually sweet. .A. I don't like those sour candies...or those desserts that are pretty much meat drizzled in some sort of sweet sauce.

Seth: Ah, I see. So you're a fan of pure sugar then basically. ^_^ *faintly amused by how opposite they are on that matter. Then again, he was opposite from most people on that matter it seemed*

Kisuke: Well, I do like fruit flavors! But yes, I...don't like extremely complicated flavors. I think there was a pudding I tried once with chicken breast bits in the middle...I didn't expect them at all ;A;

Seth: Pudding with chicken? >>; *what a horrible thing to do to meat*

Kisuke: It was really shocking! At a Turkish restaurant, I think...

Seth: I see. XD; I imagine that would be quite the surprise. If I ever visit that restaurant, I'll make a note not to order the pudding. ^^;

Kisuke: n____n ;;; What do you generally prefer? I think..I seem to remember you were eating shaved ice without the flavoring at Dacj's party.

Seth: Hehe. ^_^; Yeah, I'm not too much of a sweet fan myself. I was just buying the ice to help out Krypto's business a bit.

Kisuke: W-well, to each their own, I suppose. I know there's several types of food I wouldn't go near if...um, if it was the last thing left on earth! Or maybe not...>n<

Seth: Like what? XD

Kisuke: M-most meats...my mother keeps trying things like pork intestines or...goat, or something wherever she goes, but usually with meat I stick with...fish and beef, I suppose. -Missy's scared him out of eating pork-

Seth: Intestines? >>; Interesting. Fish and beef are still good. ^_^ You don't eat chicken though? =o

Kisuke: Well - I do! But I have no preference for it either way. I do like fish though - I was a a vegetarian when I was younger, but I gave up eventually - meat really does have a taste that you can't get from vegetables. :3

Seth: I definitely have to agree with that. ^_^ Although if you cook some vegetables a certain way, they can taste surprisingly close to meat. On that matter, I remember once trying some tuna at a Japanese restaurant that tasted exactly like beef-- no lie. I have no idea how they prepared it, but it was quite good. <3

Kisuke: Oh, that does sound delicious! I think some tofus can mimic the taste, but not the texture...n___n ;;

Seth: I haven't really tried that much tofu. ^^; Other than in like miso soup.

Kisuke: Ahh - my mother's Chinese, so we eat it a lot. But it's good in miso soup, too! But I can never have very much miso soup...the flavor's very strong. n___n ;;;

Seth: You think so? =o What do you consider as mild then?

Kisuke: Ah - perhaps strong isn't the right word - it's not strong at first, but it...builds up in my throat, I think.

Seth: I see. *well, not really* So, have you and Katsu made any plans yet?

Kisuke: Plans - for the wedding, not at all. I.......don't really. o///////////////////o I know Maxx.....Maxx-san had an idea, but it was a really, really bad one.

Seth: What sort of idea? =o

Kisuke: He wanted us to come in white fundoshi. sad sad sad

Seth: ._.;; Yeah... That sounds like Maxx.

Kisuke: It.........does, sadly. ;;

Seth: ^_^; Well, don't worry too much about it. I'm sure you guys will decide on something that you like

Kisuke: I hope so! How're your and Noe-san's plans going? n___n

Seth: Well, she's away on a trip right now, so they haven't progressed very far unfortunately. ^^; Not sure when she'll be back. =/

Kisuke: Oh, what a pity...she's so sweet. I hope you can see her soon!

Seth: ^^; Thanks. *does rather miss her*

Kisuke: Do you still spend a lot of time at HyTech? I...I'm afraid I haven't been in awhile. ^^ ;;;;;;;;

Seth: Not as much time as I used to unfortunately. =/ But I do still pop by on occasion. Not much has been going on these days.

Kisuke: I see. ._. Yes, I miss having as much free time as I did when I was younger...I don't think I've exchanged more than a greeting with some of the newer hytes.

Seth: It's hard to do. I still don't know about half the Highlanders myself, and I know there are a few other Hytes from older batches that I still have yet to meet or have only seen in passing. =/ We all become busy it seems.

Kisuke: It seemed so easy to find time when we were younger, too - but I hope to meet everyone else, too!

Seth: Hopefully we will in time. =)

Kisuke: Mmhmm - do I have your number? I don't want to keep missing you just barely - we could arrange to meet sometime in future.

Seth: Um, I don't believe we've exchanged contact info. ._. Hang on. *pulls phone out of pocket and quickly scrolls through contact list* Nope. Well, let's exchange numbers then. I future meeting sounds nice. =)

Kisuke: U-um. -pulls out his phone and rattles off his number- ouo I have my phone turned off during classes, but...............well, unless it's obscenely late, you can reach me at any time.

Seth: I'll keep that in mind. ^_^ *gives his number as well* Well, I should probably get going. I have a few things I need to take care of. ^^; It's been nice catching up with you though. =) Feel free to call anytime.

Kisuke: See you then! :3

Seth: Farewell. ^_^ *departs*

*end RP*

Not So Jobless Anymore
10/20/10

"So! I have a proposition for you."

The cheetah Hyte's tail tapped against the back leg of the chair he was in as he spoke on the phone with his mother. It wasn't entirely unusual for her to call up of of the blue like this, but he had to wonder what this 'proposition' of hers was. Probably not anything good. "Yes?"

"So, here's the deal. I have a lot of dragons already, yes?"

"Mhm."

"Along with a myriad of other pets."

"Mhmm."

"And, well, I'm kinda gettin another one."

"You're getting a fifth dragon?" the cheetah Hyte replied incredulously. Ruby tilted her head at him and chirped questioningly, but he ignored the firelizard for the time being. "How do you intend to care for all these beasts exactly?"

"Weeeeeell, that's where ~you~ come in!"

Seth sighed. He should have known. "I can't just keep coming over to pet-sit all the time you know."

"I know, I know, but that's where my proposition comes in! Look, Seth, I know you don't have a job and--"

"How did you--?"

"It doesn't matter how I know. In any case, I need an extra set of helping hands around here-- not all the time, just a couple of times a week at least--, and you'll be needing more money for your next rent check. So here's the deal: You come help with the dragons and other pets around the house, and I'll pay you for whatever work is done."

The cheetah Hyte could help but smirk faintly at this. "So basically you're saying you'll start paying me for the work I've done all my life, right?"

"Yup! Pretty much."

As pathetic seeming of an offer as it was, he really did need the job. Even if it was only a temporary one. "Fine, it's a deal then. At least until I can find something proper."

"Fair enough. Don't stress out about that too much though. You have a lot to focus on ahead with those missions."

Once again Seth was caught completely off-guard. "How did you--?"

"Gotta go! Bye, Seth!"

The cheetah Hyte stared in disbelief at the phone in his hand. No, seriously, how did that woman always know about almost everything that was going on? If Sabra Sabina "wasn't human", he was almost afraid to know what category his own mother fell under. Well, at least she didn't have the same manipulative streak in her as Shimy did. And, for now he supposed, he had a job.
