Tihamah smiled as she finished her drink, turning to Dulcie happily. "It really has been! We've been to the desert, got to explore a great garden, and been guests of......a very kind host." She turned her eyes to the male, who smiled placidly as though he had never known her to be stuck in the giant hourglass in his garden. In fact, he was smiling at Dulcie eagerly as she was drinking. "So, you have asked for information, and have received it. You have asked for drinks, and I have given them to you. I can do one more thing for you, so what's it to be?"

Dulcie sat and thought. She was perfectly satisfied with how things had gone, with everything that had happened. She'd made a new friend, gone on an amazing adventure, and got to have a nice fruity slushie. As far as she was concerned, there was nothing more she could ask for. She loked at Tihamah. "Well I don't have anything I need...you?"

Tihamah shook her head and smiled; as far as she was concerned, this had been one productive trip, not to mention fun. She felt happier than she had ever been since she had arrived at this strange world. Even if she still had no idea who her parents were, it was something to at least know where she came from, and why she loved the desert so much. "No, I don't think-" she began to say, when she saw their host grin broader than he had ever done thus far, and his eyes widened to what she thought was an impossible width. Suddenly she was feeling warm air on her face and her paws were sinking in soft sand. Looking around her in disbelief, she saw that they were back outside, the palace and it's remarkable owner vanished. Less than a mile ahead, she could see the river with the log they had crossed still making their precarious bridge. It seemed as though they had been moved by magic back to the place they had come from, so they would not have had to cross the desert again. As she turned to speak to Dulcie, Tihamah felt something cool and hard against her chest, and she looked down in surprise to find a marvelous pendant around her neck with a gleaming round gemstone the same blue as the drinks they had been served. Looking back over at Dulcie and seeing a similar pendant, Tihamah smiled. "I guess he picked our third wish for us."

Dulcie looked around, a bit confused. One second, the pretty palace, the next, where they had started. Not that she minded, she was glad to not have to walk through the desert to get home. She looked down at the pendant around her neck and smiled, at least some proof that what had happened had really happened. She looked over at Tihamah as her friend spoke, giving a smile and a nod of agreement. "That was nice though, sending us back, closer on our way towards home." She gave a big yawn. They hadn't slept on their trip, the excitement keeping them on their toes. "And maybe we should finish that trip. I'm tired."

"Yeah it was. Some of his kind aren't all that friendly." Smiling, Tihamah put a paw up and flicked her pendant, watching it sparkle as it swung back and forth. Now she and Dulcie had proof of their adventure, and who knows, maybe someday they could return to the desert and see more of it, perhaps find a whole other adventure. But for now, they were both tired, and the forest beyond the river beckoned to her like it never had before. "Come on Dulcie; I'll race you over!" She happily bounded in the direction of the log, for the first time warm from the inside and the outside.

Dulcie smiled then gave a small giggle "head-start no fair!" she called after her friend. She quickly began to chase, looking forward to home in the winter wonderland.
((End? Successful end? biggrin ))
