Chance peeked up at her, glad to see she didn't seem to be angry. That or she was a very good actor. Her praise made him smile but it quickly turned into a frown when she mentioned watching. "No thanks." he said. He was starting to feel bad. He seemed to disapprove of lots of things she enjoyed doing and he had no intention of making her feel bad. He tried his best to put on a happy expression. "I'll just wait here."

She trotted closer and bumped her forehead against his. "You sure? Well, alright then. I won't be gone too long, ok?" Before he could answer, she pulled away from his face and darted off into the brush along the river. She'd follow it upstream before veering off towards the rabbit meadow.
---------------
It didn't take Makki too long to catch the first rabbit. But she had to wait. One wasn't going to be enough for the both of them, so she hid. When she did finally have a second, she struggled to carry them both back. One dangled by it's ears, the other by a foot from her mouth. Her head was high and she was quite proud of herself for her haul.

Chance tried to look down when she came closer. He was usually too much of a coward to look anyone in the eye, and he ended up staring at the short fur on her muzzle. He opened his mouth to reply but she pulled away and was gone. "Okay...." he said in a small voice to the air. He glanced around and was already starting to get uncomfortable, even though it had been only a few minutes. Even though Makki returned soon after, it had been a lifetime to him and he ran up to meet her gratefully. He circled around the rabbits so he wouldn't brush against them and tackled her side. "What took you so long?" he teased, nudging a rabbit slightly with his nose.

"Anganmph!" She protested when he tackled her. She dropped the rabbits, and rolled onto her back, playfully swatting his ear. "You could have come along." She laughed. "I mean, hunting is an art and shouldn't be rushed." She gave his muzzle a lick. "Come on then, I'm still hungry. The fish, though tasty, wasn't very filling."

Chance laughed at her playful swat, nosing her paw. "I suppose." he said. He didn't really know much about hunting and he didn't want to make it that obvious. His ears straightened in surprise when she licked him and his face burned. "Y-yea." he said, having no idea what she has just said. She was starting towards a rabbit, so he copied her, dragging a rabbit closer by its ear. He bit into it, keeping his eyes on the meal although not really seeing it. Did she just kiss him? and other similar thoughts seemed to be banging around his head. He glanced at her in what he hoped what a subtle movement, and tried to convince himself that she probably didn't mean anything by it.

Makki had her paws folded around her rabbit as she started eating from a thigh. She glanced up at him just as he looked at her. "You got something on your nose." She teased before looking back at her meal. He seemed shy -again- suddenly. But that was who he was. A shy boy. In a way, that was kind of cute.
Kind of.
Boys were still weaker then her. Beneath her! She tried to convince herself, but she had to admit that fishing was an ingenious way to obtain food when hunting was no good. She'd practice.

"I do?" Chance asked, already going cross-eyed. There did seem to be something there and he pawed at it. The object, which turned out to be some pollen, drifted off his nose and disapeared as a soft wind came and blew it away. He watched it for a moment before going back to his meal and ate in silence, trying not to attract any attention by keeping his head ducked. He sighed and rolled over on his back when he felt full, a good portion of the rabbit still there. His ears flicked and again he thought of what happened. Rolling back to his paws, he tilted his head in her direction and was about to speak when a sudden howl pierced the air. His ears pivoted towards the familiar sound and he recognized it as his mother's. "I... I need to go." he said reluctantly, looking in the direction the howl had come from. He stood and prepared to leave, not wanting to get his mother angry, but stopped and looked back at his unfinished meal. He didn't just want to leave it there. His eyes strayed to Makki and he felt a sudden pang. He didn't want to leave her so soon. He wanted to ask if she would come with him but knew that she was probably decline the offer so he kept his muzzle shut. He wasn't sure when they would meet again, or if they would for that matter, so he looked down and said, "Good bye." He continued to stare at his paws, stalling himself a bit, even when he heard another impatient howl from his father this time.

Makki rose to her feat, hearing the howl. At first she thought it might have been threatening, but then Chance mentioned leaving. "Oh. Well... I guess I'll... I'll see you around." She eyed his unfinished rabbit and smiled. "you have a wimpy appetite." She flashed him a grin before picking up the remainder of her rabbit. Somehow she managed to still speak. "You better be stronger the next time I see you!" And with that, she turned and ran into the bushes, quickly vanishing from sight.

"I guess." Chance repeated softly, managing to look up a bit to see her pick up his rabbit. He smiled at her first comment and raised his head, his mouth opened slightly to speak. But she beat him to it and before he could say more, she was gone. "I will!" he yelled, hoping she would be able to hear behind the wall of leaves. He stood where he was for a moment longer, watching the bush, as if by staring hard enough, she would come back. But she didn't. Finally, he turned away and ran back to his den, smiling as he thought of his day with her.
