Power corrupts. Money grants power. Religious authority grants both money and power.

And it usually grants that power to someone who can connect and represent the people, which are stupid o.o;

Logically speaking, religion doesn't have much going for it.

Connect and represent? Do you think the catholic church has ever "represented" the people? No so much represent as fool and dominate.
