Ion Cannons are simply various weapons that fire a beam or blast of charged ions at another target.

The purpose: disable. High concentrations of ions can disable shields and entire ships.

The size of the ion cannon was relevant to the power of it's firings. Typically, the ion cannons on a B-Wing, Y-Wing, or on most capital ships are strong enough to disable most starfighters in one hit.

Compartively, the v-150 Planet Defender, the model of ion cannon used at Echo Base on Hoth, was powerful enough to disable vessels as large as an Imperial Star Destroyer in a hit or two.

The AT-AA is the Empire's go-to vehicle when they need to chase down Rebel starfighters, but don't have their own starfighters do to so.

This quadruped, ground-hugging vehicle was was first designed during the Clone Wars, and finally came into production under the Galactic Empire. The entire vehicle is 18m long, with four legs, and it's sole armament is an anti-air missile flak pod, capable of homing in and shreadding airborne targets.

While the crew count is not stated in any source, it was likely limited to a pilot and co-pilot, along with a gunner.

Downside? The vehicle is strictly anti-air, so it has no defenses against ground targets, requiring support and protection form other walkers.

It was designed by Rothana Heavy Engineering, the same company that designed the Acclamantor-class Assault Ship.

Aside from top-notch training, a reputation for no-nonsense, and the best personal armor available to infatry, the Stormtroopers had one more reaosn why they were feared: the E-11.

This blaster, designed by BlasTech Industries, and manufactured under license by countless manufacteurers. It was originally based off of the commando pistol and DC-15 Blaster Rifle used by the Clonetroopers.

The blaster itself was only about half a meter long, weighing about 5 pounds. It featured a scope with a 2x reticle. It also came with a powercell that allowed for 100 shots per clip, whereas the actual plasmacell ammunition (the plasma celd held tibanna gas, which was charge by the powercell to form the blaster laser) held 500 shots. Depending on the rate of fire, overheating, and setting of the blaster, the powercell could end up providing far less or more than 100 shots.

It was eventually obsoleted in 14 ABY by the E-15 Blaster Rifle.

It also came with two settings: stun and kill.

Not as famous as the E-11, this is the DLT-19.

The DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle shares many characteristics with the DC-15 used by clonetroopers: large, powerful, and unwieldy.

While stormtroopers did crary it, as opposed to the more favored E-11, this blaster was powerful enough to shoot down airspeeders. It also has a much longer, and more accurate range than the E-11, and combined with a good scope, makes an excellant sniper rifle.

A mere 550 credits, and nearly twice as cheap as the larger E-11, the DH-17 was the sidearm of choice in the galaxy. It was given standard issue to all Imperial, Rebellion, and eventually New Republic forces. Thus, it was the most common blaster pistol in the galaxy during the Galactic Civil War.

Like the E-11, this was a BlasTech design, and even looked similar to the larger E-11 Blaster Rifle.

The pistol was relatively simple. Optimum firing range was 30 meters, though with it's scope it could fire as far as 120m. It had a capacity of 500 shots, and it's clip could be replaced by a skilled shoulder in as little as five seconds.

Like most blaster weapons, owning one of these was prohibited for citizens. It was readily found on the Black Market, however.

The DH-17 might be the most common blaster pistol in the galaxy, but the honor being being the most powerful one goes to the DL-44. Another BlasTech weapon, this pistol was the weapon of choice for Han Solo, who used a modified variant of this weapon.

The DL-44 had a fairly short range, a measly 25m optimum and 50m maximum, even with scope. However, where it shone was it's accuracy and power.

How powerful you say? The same ammunition clip that gave the DH-17 500 shots, only gave the DL-44 fifty shots. That's right: this pistol ws nearly 10 times as powerful. In fact, it could consistantly penetrate stormtrooper armor, allowing for almost instant kills.

Because of this, the DL-44 was outlawed in most of the galaxy. That only made it more popular for use by the Rebels and various smugglers and pirates.

Yet another BlasTech weapon, modeled similar to the DH-17 Pistol, this weapon served as the primary rifle of choice for the Rahm Kota Militia and the Rebel Alliance.

Although it carried a similar ammunition amount compared to the DLT-19 and E-11, this weapon featured a unique charged fire mode, allowing it to power up its shots for extra potency. It also featured a full automatic mode, making the weapon double as a repeater blaster.

Subject: Imperial Sector Fleet
Status: Canon
Capsule:

A Sector Fleet was the total number of ships dedicated to the defense of one Sector of Space. Commanded by a Moff and High Admiral, these forces included:

- 1 Executor-class Dreadnaught*
- 24 Imperial-class Star Destroyers
- 88 Victory-class Star Destroyers
- 384 Carrack-class Cruisers
- 384 Strike-class Cruisers
- 576 Tartan-class Cruisers
- 192 Escort Carriers
- 800 Support Ships (Repair Ships, Fuel Tankers, Cargo, Troop Transports)

Each Sector Fleet operated within its designated sector, and was in itself the smallest deployable unit in the Imperial Navy, assuming it wasn't the personal ship of an important figure.

Each Sector Fleet was likewise divided into 8 Systems Forces. These divisions included an eigth of the Sector Fleet itself. Thus, these ships were:

- 3 Imperial-class Star Destroyers
- 11 Victory-class Star Destroyers
- 128 Carrack-class Cruisers
- 128 Strike-class Cruisers
- 192 Tartan-class Cruisers
- 64 Escort Frigates
- 266 Support Ships

Further, each Systems Force was divided into three Squadrons, a Squadron being the total fleet presence in a given star system. This division was then:

- 1 Imperial-class Star Destroyer
- 4 Victory-class Star Destroyers
- 43 Carrack-class Cruisers
- 43 Strike-class Cruisers
- 64 Tartan-class Cruisers
- 22 Escort Frigates
- 89 Support Ships

And finally, each of these squadrons was divided into a line. A Line usually consisted of a fourth of a Squadron's power. By itself, an ISD was considered a Line unto itself. Otherwise, a typical line consisted of:

- 1 Imperial-class Star Destroyer

OR

- 1 Victory-class Star Destroyer
- 11 Carrack-class Cruisers
- 11 Strike-class Cruisers
- 16 Tartan-class Cruisers
- 6 Escort Frigates
- 22 Support Ships

* The Executor-class Dreadnaught did not come into service until 0 ABY. There were at most 12 in existance, the last of them completed by 4 ABY.

Note- The Sector Fleet shown here is merely the average fleet assigned to each sector. Because only 25,000 ISDs were ever created, and yet there are nearly 2,000 Sectors, a vast number of these sectors had to forego having these, since there were barely enough Star Destroyers for half of the sectors. Thus, only the sectors closer to the core had the priveldge of having these ships.

Subject: Imperial Security Bureau
Status: Canon
Capsule:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Imperial Security Bureau was a branch of COMPNOR, serving as the eyes and ears of the Galactic Empire. It's purpose: Internal security. That's right, if the Emperor and his allies feared anyone, it wasn't any rebel group, but traitorous commanders and Moffs who had the resources to oppose the Emperor.

ISB was in charge of, then, making sure that various members of the Empire did their job, and were loyal. On the surface, each and every Star Destroyer or Imperial base had at least one or two ISB Agents, acting as both Intelligence agents for Rebel threats, but also monitoring internal affairs. Also, the ISB usually found ways to infilitrate their members into key officer positions, as well as the security forces and Stormtrooper Corps.

ISB was divided into a two tier office. The top tier was the ISB Central Office, operating out of Azure Hammer Command. Below were the various Sector Offices of each Sector and Oversector. It was the job of Commission of Operations to pass on jobs handled by the Central Office to the Sector Offices, depending on the scale of each operation.

Following is a list of divisions within ISB:

- Surveillance
- Investigations
- Internal Affairs
- Interrogation
- Re-education
- Enforcement
- ISB Stormtroopers

~

Surveillance- Surveillance was the largest branch of ISB, containing just over 33% of all ISB operatives. Their job was simple: monitoring the galaxy for various threats, both internal and external, and then reporting them to the local or central Office. Also, Surveillance acted as a propaganda force, spreading rumors against enemy forces and promoting Imperial doctrine. A good portion of this branch were recruited from the COMPNOR's Adult Youth program, and thus many were poorly trained, albeit zealous.

Investigations- Unlike Surveillance, Investigations had much better training. They essentially took the intel that Surveillance gathered, and then acted upon it. Agents of this branch were directly tied to the Imperial Military, usually operating on a Star Destroyer, and thus could react swiftly if a Rebel threat was detected.

Internal Affairs- The police force within the police force. Internal Affairs policed the various branches of ISB and COMPNOR, taking care of threats within the Imperial Military as well. If the Captain of a Star Destroyer was displaying sentiments with enemy forces, then Internal Affairs made every point of seeing that this person was silenced. Internal Affairs operatives were also often assigned to work undercover within the military; they could be an engineer, pilot, communications officer, janitor. There wasn't a singal position they weren't monitoring. This was limited, however, as there were seldom more than two agents aboard a Star Destroyer.

Interrogation- Remember that droid that needled Princess Leia on the Death Star? Guess who was controlling the droid: an Interrogation agent. Simply, if Investigations found that their suspect was witholding vital information, it was this branch's duty to sit down with that suspect and extract the information by any means necessary. If the interrogation was deemed a failure, they were then passed on to the Inquisitorious.

Re-education- When ISB detects a traitor within COMPNOR, they capture them and send them to re-education. They get demoted, and brainwashed into being logyal Imperials again.

Enforcement- The police for the police within the police. Obviously the ISB, like the rest of the Empire, is borderline paranoid. The whole purpose of this branch is to protect ISB Agents from unnecessary harrassment by Internal Affairs. For example, an Agent's job might be to pretend being a rebel, to draw out other rebels. Internal Affairs finds him and tries to capture or eliminate him; it is Enforcement's job to prevent this.

ISB Stormtroopers- Essentially, these were little more than a group of ISB Agents acting as moles within the Stormtrooper Corps. They reported any unusual activity, such as disobeying orders, etc.

The Bureau of Ships and Services was founded in 18,000 BBY. It is a civilian organization that keeps tabs on ALL civilian craft.

Unaffiliated with any governement or military organization, the Bureau keeps track of all non-military spaceships, including upgrades, the Captain's certification, the ship's transponder codes, and the ship's registration. This information is collected on a galaxy-wide scale, and kept in a secure, encoded database, which is available on an as needed basis for every spaceport, system, and military force in the galaxy. Essentially, it's a starship library.

The Bureau itself is family-run, with positions given based on hereditary position. Because it is a civilian organization, it owes no loyalty to any government organization, including the Galactic Empire.

It does not keep track of military vessels. Often times, the information it provides on civilian craft are inaccurate, depending on whether the owner of the vessel is of the honest sort or not. Most pirated or stolen vessels, then, often have false registrations.

Subject: Imperial Intelligence
Status: Canon
Capsule:

While the Imperial Security Bureau was a branch of COMPNOR and focused on internal security problems, Imperial Intelligence was the organization responsible for overall Intelligence operations in the galaxy.

The organization was first founded in 19 BBY, right after the New Order was declared. The four existing Intelligence organizations - the Senate Bureau of Intelligence, Interstellar Consortium on Technology, Republican Security Organization, and Special Acquisitions Branch of the Library of the Republic - decided to centralize into a larger, stronger group than either one was by itself. Choosing SBI Director Armand Isard as their leader, the new Imperial Intelligence quickly became one of the largest, most powerful organizations within the New Empire. Their rise to power was so fast, in fact, COMPNOR created the Imperial Security Bureau as a direct rival to Imperial Intelligence.

Imperial Intelligence was divided into 10 branches:

- Ubiqtorate
- Adjustments
- Internal Organization Bureau
- Analysis Bureau
- Crisis Branch
- Bureau of Operations
- Inquisitorius
- Special Intelligence
- Sector Plexus
- System Cell

Ubiqtorate- The High Command of ImpIntel, led by the Director of Intelligence Armand Isard. They formulated strategy and unified the rest of the bureaus into one unit.

Adjustments- The only bureau directly controlled by the Ubiqtorate, Adjustments was called in when a situation was beyond the reach of the rest of the organization, but not completely hopeless.

Internal Organizations Bureau- The police of ImpIntel, Internal Organizations protected Imperial Intelligence from internal and external threats, particularly threats against Imperial Intelligence and its members as a whole.

Analysis Bureau- AB's job was to collect data, sift for threats, and then transmitting their findings to the Ubiqroate so that they can be addressed.

Crisis Branch- The Crisis Branch was used to weed out corruption and handle sudden, dangerous situations. It was only opened in times of great conflict. The three most recent activations of this branch were in 22 BBY at the start of the Clone Wars, in 19 BBY at the start of the New Order, and in 2 BBY at the start of the Galactic Civil War.

Bureau of Operations- The Bureau was responsible for handling jobs that individual system cells could not. Essentially, they were the military arm of ImpIntel.

Inquisitorius- Probably the most feared single organization in the entire Galactic Empire, the Inquisitorius is a sect of the best of the Dark Side Elite, who specialize in Intel gathering, interrogation, and torture. They had a 100% success rate of breaking suspects into submission, including Jedi.

Special Intelligence- Special Intelligence was responsible with handling jobs too 'unsavory' for the System Cell, but not quite warranting Adjustments.

Sector Plexus- The Plexus stored and recorded all gathered information. It was also responsible with safely transferring information between branches of ImpIntel or between planets and ships.

System Cell- A system cell is the individual cell of ImpIntel personnel operating on a mission or system. Also called Agents.

Imperial Intelligence used ranks similar to the Imperial Army. However, most members below the rank of Major were simply referred to as Agents.

Imperial Intelligence's head quarters is based within the Imperial Palace. They also maintain the Lusankya, a buried Star Dreadnaught below the surface of Coruscant.

While there are only two Sith Lords in the Galaxy, Emperor Palpatine knows the value of loyal Dark Jedi to his efforts.

Palpatine had dozens if not hundreds of Dark Jedi under his control, divided into these groups:

- Emperor's Hands
- Prophets of the Dark Side
- Shadow Guards
- Inquisitorius

The Emperor's Hands were a group of assassins personally trained by Emperor Palpatine to deal with rogue Imperials and enemy officials. Notable Hands include Mara Jade and Shira Brie (Lumiya).

The Prophets of the Dark Side were a group of Dark Jedi, led by Lord Shadowspawn (AKA Blackhole), who specialized in mastering the force techniques of the Dark Side, as opposed to lightsaber combat. They were also adept at the use of Sith alchemy to create Dark Side-empowered weapons and creatures. Also, as their name would suggest, the Prophets were proficient at sensing visions of the future.

The Shadow Guards were a sect of Dark Jedi who operated within the Emperor's Royal Guards. Their job was to serve as Palpatine's enforcers, his guards, and his private army should he ever be endangered. One Shadow Guard was dispached to assassinate Rohm Kota, while another defended Palpatine aboard the first Death Star; both were killed by Galen Marek. They are led by the roleplay character Ven Kazdan.

The Inquisitorius work with Imperial Intelligence to interrogate and torture difficult prisoners. Aside from breaking their prisoners, at which they are very good at, the Inquisitors are also capable of turning capture Jedi over to the Dark Side. They are currently led by High Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne.

Capsule:

The Tector-class premiered near the end of the Clone Wars, serving right along side the Imperator-class (Imperial-class). While the Imperial-class had an outstanding weapons payout and a hangar big enough for a pre-fabricated base and wing of TIE Fighters, the Tector-class had no hangar. At all.

Essentially, what you're looking at is a dedicated ship-to-ship combat vessel. No hangar meant no need for a starfighter command. Likewise, this also meant that the lack of TIE Fighters meant that you had less stuff to protect yourself with.

While there are no official lists as to the amount of weapons it had, because of it's role, the Tector likely utilized a great number of Heavy and Quad Turbolasers to combat enemy destroyer-sized vessels.

Otherwise, beside the lack of hangar, the only other visible difference (that was known, anyway) was that the reactor bulb located beneath the ship on Imperial-class vessels was covered by armor, and thus better protected on the Tector-class.

Downsides? Though it was a dedicated ship-to-ship vessel, the ship was considerably slower than any other Destroyer.

Eventually, both the Imperial-class and Tector-class were replaced by the Imperial-class II. At least one of these vessels was part of Death Squadron during the Battle of Endor.

The Emperor's Royal Guard is responsible for protecting Emperor Palpatine and other important personnel. They answer only to him.

Derived from the Red Guard who protected the Chancellor and Senate prior to the New Order, the Royal Guard was a seperate branch of the Imperial Military, much like the Stormtroopers. Each Guard was hand picked out of whatever branch or unit he served, and taken to the training facility on the planet Yinchorr. There, the candidates underwent grueling training regimes as they studied and trained to become the best at every known martial arts form.

Specifically, candicacy of being a Royal Guartd was given only to the most elite Stormtroopers, who fulfilled certain height, weight, and loyalty requirements, as well as at least nominal degree of Force aptitude.

There were three ranks of Royal Guards:

- Royal Guards
- Sovereign Protectors
- Shadow Guards
- Shadow Guard General

Royal Guards formed the basic unit. They were clothed in black tunics, red battle armor and red cloaks, along with helments. In addition, each guard was armed with a forcepike and heavy blaster pistol. In order to stay in shape and fighting fitness, squads of Royal Guards were rotated out of guard duty to serve alongside the Stormtroopers. Their exact number is disputed, there were at least 23,000 of them.

Sovereign Protectors were elite Royal Guard, representing the pinnacle of strength, intelligence, and skill. They were unmatched in lethality, save by the Shadow Guards. There were at least 400 of these individuals, and they were chosen to guard the most important of the Emperor's facilities, such as his cloning labs on Byss. Their uniform consisted of green Royal Guard armor.

Shadow Guards were those Sovereign Protectors who showed enough force potential to be considered Dark Jedi. Thus, they were also members of the Dark Side Elite. They wore a black version of the normal Royal Guard armor.

The Shadow Guard General was the top Royal Guard, the most powerful of the Shadow Guards, and the Emperor's #1 servant. Only one existed, and he had unlimited authority to accomplish whatever job the Emperor gave him. His very existance was a highly guarded secret; in even official circles, he was merely another Sovereign Protector. The current General is Ven Kazdan, a roleplay character.

While the Acclamator-class debuted in 22 BBY as a troop transport, the need quickly arrived for a ship of similar size that focused more on defeating other ships, instead of ferrying armies. The Acclamator II is that new ship.

Length is about 752m, less than a third the size of an Imperial-class Star Destroyer.

While the Acclamator had the hangar space for 16,000 clone troopers, 155 V-19 Torrent Fighters, and hundreds of vehicles, the Acclamator-II had 80% less space, a mere 2 years worth of consumables, 10,000 tons of cargo, 3200 clone troopers, and about 100 vehicles.

On the flipside, the Acclamator II had a crew of 20,414, more than than 20 times the crew of the original ship.

Let's compare the weapons on both ships.

Acclamator I:

4 Proton Torpedo Tubes
24 Point-Defense Laser Cannons
12 Quad Turbolaser Cannons

Acclamator II:

4 Turbolaser Batteries
2 Heavy Proton Torpedo Launchers

While the Acc I might seem like the heavier armed ship, it's weaponry was fairly low rated, barely able to contend with enemy frigates it's own size. However, the Heavy Proton Torpedos of the Acc II have enough bunch ot breach even the heavy planetary shields of planets like Coruscant, making it more than capable of going through the shields of starships.

Eventually, both ships were phased out of duty. The Acclamator I was supplanted by the Venator, which could carry far more troops and fightercraft, while the Acclamator II was supplanted by the Victory-class Star Destroyer. By 19 BBY, existing Acclamators were relegated to defense of backwater planets in nonpriority areas.
