For a moment Femi just sat there and watched him, and then she frowned, stood up, and marched up to stand beside him with an extreamly determined look on her face. She wanted to say something clever and nice, or something sweet and comforting, but her mind was only pulling at the same spell that had destroyed the scroll; so that's what she did. Holding out one hand Femi muttered the spell lowly under her breath, then held the little flame in her hand carefully, she'd never tried anything too special with it before, but there was that determination that she was going to make Master Seth proud of her.
For a moment she just stood there and let her feat sink into the minds of the people who had happened to catch her do it and the others her being nudged over to see, and then she mumbled another string of words and turned the flame a bright green. It was kind of hard not to smile when someone gasped, but she kept her face just as blank as she could. Carefully she flicked the flame up, attempting to catch it on her fingers, muttering under her breath again; the flame caught, now a bright magenta, and reassured that she had indeed mastered control of this spell she flipped it over to her other hand, mumbling again.
Now bright blue and on her other hand, Femi procceded to flick it about again, mumbling words under her breath that had it flashing into different colors everytime it reappeared in either the other hand or another spot. There was a mixture of pleasure at knowing that she could do this and the embarrassment of having so many eyes on her inside her chest, but carefully she pushed those emotions aside and continued playing with the fire.

Seth looked at what Femi was doing. "I see that you have been practicing that trick" he said with a smirk. Seth decided against using anything that held any destructive purposes and pulled out a bowl of water and began chanting. The water rose up from the bowl and floated around before him taking different shapes that passed though his mind. When he finally chose the exact shape he wanted, which was bird, he began chanting something else and it froze solid despite the heat of the day. He turned the ice bird around in his hands as he inspected it.

Finally allowing herself to smile, Femi postively glowed with pleasure. "Thank you Master, I swear, I won't mess up again." She said happily, so happy she didn't know what to do with herself. Happily she continued bouncing her fire around, changing it's color and tossing it up into the air and catching it again. When she finally felt she had mastered that little trick, she decided on forming another fireball in her other hand, which she too began changing it's color.
One fire ball had been just like playing with a ball as a child, but this could prove trickier; and with someone as destructive as Femi around, it could also prove rather stupid on her part to push her limits so soon. Still, she started out carefully at first, merely changing the color of the two alternitavely and flicking them back and forth from her palm to the ends of her fingers. She didn't want to dissapoint Seth, and she would most definately disapoint him if she burned the city down.

Seth watch Femi closely. "Be careful" he warned her as he melted the little bird ice sculpture and made another one. This time a lion. People threw coins and some offered food, which he accepted putting them into the small satchel at his side. He didn't take his eyes off Femi, worrying that something may go wrong. He kept playing around with the ice shaping it into random creature and items that people wanted to see.

Hala blinked in confusion as the woman who had been glaring at the whole world just a moment ago slipped a comforting arm around her shoulders, but her surprise was short-lived, forced to give way again to the panicked yammering that whirled in circles through her brain, the possibilities of what had happened keeping her frozen with fear. She was not normally a great consumer of fiction, but her mind began leaping to fantastical conclusions, each more terrifying than the last. What if the city doesn't exist anymore? What if the storm blew it away? Are we the only ones that survived? What if we can't even make it out of the desert? What if... what if...
Nadira's comforting words finally broke through the chaotic spiral, and Hala seemed to relax, heartily grateful to the switch back to her native language, allowing her to simply talk instead of forcing herself to pause and translate the foreign tongue when she just couldn't focus. She heard a faint, shaky voice that sounded nothing like her own respond, <<"Of course... Of course we'll find something there, I guess I just lost it for a minute. I wonder what city it is?">> She smiled shakily at the return to normal, sane questions, but turned her face a little as soon as she couldn't hold the expression any longer. She felt her face prickle with shame, feeling like a child as Nadira gently herded her toward the city. She mumbled her thanks, tidying and dusting what sand she could from her clothing, determined not to look like a raving madwoman even if she had acted like one. <>
Hala didn't notice the approaching stranger until she began to speak, and felt her usual caution return as she eyed the strangely-dressed girl a little apprehensively, the greeting completely unintelligible to her. Oddly, this new person's presence was more unsettling to her than the strange familiarity with her new companions, which, she realized, was already beginning to feel comforting in such a surreal situation. About this person, there was absolutely nothing familiar.
Hala didn't offer a greeting, suddenly unconcerned with politeness while they were stranded in the middle of the desert, quite possibly in danger of their lives if they didn't leave it soon. She was confident they could leave it themselves, without the help of an outsider. The strangely simplicity of the distinction between "us" and "them" didn't surprise her in the least. Glancing to Nadira, she mumbled, <<"Did you understand her?">>

Frowning Femi slowly became aware of the fact that Seth was watching her carefully, and that he was obviously nervous. She didn't want to let him down, but she didn't want to scare him either, so with a sigh she placed both hands together and let the little flames go out in what proved to be a rather pretty display of colored sparks. As it turned out she was just in time as well, because if she hadn't put those fireballs out she probably would've flung them sky high at the sound of her little brothers voice calling her name out from the crowd.
"Femi! FEMI!" He yelled practically bouncing his way through the crowd to get closer, and with ever foot Umi got closer Femi slid another centimeter closer to the wall. Pretty soon the sixteen year old boy was at the head of the crowd, big brown eyes looking at her in wide eyed wonder. "I didn't know you could do that, sister!" He said excitedly, not in the least bit upset that she had been performing infront of all those people, apparently he saw degradation as something entirely different from what Seth saw.
All Femi could do was stare in wide eyed horror and try not to draw attention to Seth. "Yes, my brother..." She replied, back to the wall while Umi seemed completely unaware of how comfortable she was. "Did you learn it from that-" He started of in a rather snotty tone, but Femi quickly cut in, smiling brightly. "Yes, I learned it from my Master." Insider her head though, she was screaming at Seth and wishing he had telepathy, 'Get. Out! Of! HERE!'

Seth looked carefully at the boy who had ran up to Femi. 'So this must be one of Femi's brothers. Seth looked down at his bag he had enough money to buy himself food for about a week or two if he went without a couple of days. "Femi?" Seth called out his apprentice's name.

Nadira froze inside at the approaching of so strange a stranger, and especially someone with such a strange language. It was odd, though, there were a couple of words that had sounded almost English. She couldn't let the other woman tell that it was bothering her as well though, she seemed so close to breaking down, and because she had always been "the strong one" it was easy to step in and take over that role. Calmly she rubbed her back, trying to calm her down more and keep her there. <<"I didn't, but I only know English and Arabic... Maybe this woman is Italian? Or Greek? She could've come here on buisiness or something and she doesn't speak our language,">> She suggested, but it sounded strange to her. <<"Maybe Aleks or the other man will understand.">> She continued, managing to smile yet again.
Beneath the surface Nadira was in absolute tourmoil, however, warring not only with the humanity that was causing her to be nice, the strange feeling towards these people, the anger at feeling like she couldn't even control herself, the confusion of it all, and now the slow realization that they were somewhere that would be harder to escape from than simply getting to that city and driving away. Still, she worked hard to surpress that, as far as she could tell there were only two important things to focus on; get to that city and keep this woman from having a breakdown.

Umi glared slightly, something that was at war with the big brown eyes and almost boyish look he still had about him, he hadn't quite hit his growth spurt yet despite already being 16. "I don't see why you call him Master, I've heard-" But her got cut off by Seth calling out Femi's name, to which she replied without thought at all, "Yes, Master?" Mentally she realized what she had done and unconciously stepped closer to Seth as if to protect him from her little brother. "This..." Umi asked, motioning towards Seth with a hand and waving it quite boldly as if words alone couldn't describe him, "Is your Master?" He finished, voice clearly in disbelief.
Blushing Femi turned slightly away from her brother, swivling herself towards Seth. "Umi, we'll talk when I get home later, alright?" She asked nervously, it had been so easy to overcome the little doubtful voices in her head to help out Seth, but now they had returned full force; more than anything in the world she wanted both her family and Seth to like her, and that wouldn't happen if she let Umi say what he wanted to or stood up for Seth infront of everyone. He had enough trouble without drawing attention to him, and though she defended him at home it was normally followed by the chorus of her brothers laughter.
Her stubborn younger brother however quite litterally glared at her. "But I wanna talk now." He whined in possiably the most adorable pouty tone any teenage boy has ever used. For a moment, struck dead by the tone, Femi merely stood there and stared blankly, "I can't, brother. Please, just... just go?" She asked him, countering his adorable pouty whine with an almost irristable weak defeated voice. Unable to resist, Umi pouted and turned to walk away. "Fine, but it's your undoing." He tossed over his shoulder, and then he slipped off between the crowd and away.

Seth raised an eyebrow in question to the way her little brother acted. "Femi, is everything alright?" he asked standing up and brushing the dirt from his cloak. "I don't want to cause you any trouble" he said warily, concerned about how her younger brother reacted to him.

Frowning Femi stepped yet again closer to Seth, swivling herself more so she was almost a litterial barrier between him and where Umi had been. "Everythings fine, Master," She said quickly, smiling rather brightly while her brain rushed to figure out a way to distract him. Ra hadn't even made it to the hieght of the sky yet and already her good morning had taken yet another abrupt back towards the worst. This time instead of his hand Femi grabbed his whole arm, looping her arm around his and then grabbing his hand. She was fully aware of it this time for sure, and while her face was turning awfully red she was determined to pull him away and off before Umi could change his mind. "Aren't you hungry, Master? We should go eat, come on."

Hala shook her head, <<"I know a little French, but it wasn't that either... Maybe Spanish or something?">> Frowning slightly, she voiced the same concern, <<"There are a lot of foreign businessmen here, but they don't usually wander around in the middle of the desert, in the middle of the day...">> Neither does anyone else, not unless they're treasure hunters or they have a death wish... She bit her tongue, and put that train of thought aside carefully, not wishing to break the tenuous ceasefire her mind had settled into. Instead, she turned back to the puzzle at hand, nodding in agreement. <<"Maybe they'll know...">>
After glancing at the rather surly looking man not too far ahead of them, she thought better of asking and let him be, looking back to Aleks instead, keeping her voice hushed so it wouldn't carry, "Did you understand her?" Finally, her voice seemed to have steadied itself nearly back to normal, though her pronunciation was a little more labored than it normally was.

Seth blinked and held his hood up to keep it from falling back. "Femi, I still have a little bit of food from this morning. I can feed myself." he stated a little shocked at the fact Femi had looped her arm in his. He was hoping Femi wouldn't look and see the slight blush that tinted his pale face.

Despite the fact that her face was heating up even more by the second Femi was determined not to let go, 'Besides,' She noted with a small flip of her stomach, 'He actually doesn't seem to mind...' She blushed even more at that and tried to surpress it. Pulling an apple from seemingly nowhere at all, a nice pretty big white one too, Femi held it out. "But I've got an apple..." She pouted, hoping no one had seen that. After all, she wasn't exactly proud that her slight of hand skills she'd learned from Seth had just pulled a really rare apple out of someone elses satchel, but hey, if he didn't notice and they didn't notice and it cheered him up and distracted him then she was doing her job.

Seth had to suppress the laugh that was bubbling in his throat. He looked at the apple. "I can see that you have an apple" he stated the laugh he was hiding still trying to find its was out. Seth took the apple from Femi and looked at. He smiled slightly. "Well if you have an apple" a pomegranate fell from his sleeve. "I have this" he showed it to her smirking.
