"I'm sure they will." Answered Emris with a small grin. "I'm sure you can win these guys over." With that he nudged the snow white duck towards Terrie. "Go on..."
The duck with a squawk slowly came towards Terrie and quickly stole a piece of bread before backing out of reach. Still when she finished she couldn't help but to slowly start coming back towards the foxtaur. Watching, Emris was sure the other birds would follow this lead.

Repressing a happy shreik, Terrie broke off more bread bites and sprinkled them in front of her, keeping a few bits in her open palm. "Hi there." She cooed softly to the duck, kneeling down so that she wouldn't seem such a looming figure to the others. "Do they come here a lot for bread?" She asked, giving Emris a quick look before refocusing on the ducks and birds.

Happily watching Terrie with the birds, Emris about didn’t hear her question. “Lately they have been….but I’m hoping they still have enough sense to leave for the winter.” He chuckled softly, “It gets decently cold and I fear their nests and feathers might not keep them warm enough.”
A blue eye focused on him and the foxtaur nodded with at the duck with a thoughtful gaze, “But some of the usual ducks will stay and I keep a small shelter for them with hay and such.”

Terrie smiled. "That's nice. It'll be like a little bit of summer tucked away that we can visit during cold nights." She said, unconciously talking as if she was already going to stay with Emris for the winter. She slowly reached a hand toward the white duck, hoping she would let her pet those shiny feathers.

Blinking with surprise, Emris nodded. "I guess so." Absently the foxtaur patted at the head of a regular mallard which had been sitting patiently nearby. Still his eyes were on Terrie and he watched as the white duck tilted her head, but stayed still as Terrie's hand approached her.

Still oblivious to how she had spoken, she reached out and brushed her finger tips gently down the duck's neck. Her smile brightened immensely and she looked over at Emris with an almost child-like delight. As she pet the duck, she held out her other hand in an offer of a few more crumbs, cooing softly again.

With a wide smile, Emris sat down and watched as Terrie petted the duck. His smile got even warmer as the duck gently nibbled at Terrie's hand before getting to the crumbs. "I think she likes you, Terrie." He called out softly with a small laugh.

With a suprised squeak as her fingers were nibbled, Terrie almost pulled her hand back, but the duck quickly went to the crumbs. "Really? She does?" She gave Emris a hopeful look before relaxing again and resuming the petting. "Is she one of the birds that will stay for the winter?"

"Yes, she usually does stay." Emris nodded at Terrie and grinned, "She's been attached to this area ever since I helped her out of a tangle of thorn bushes and to help heal her wing."
The duck scooted closer to Terrie's hand and looked up at the foxtaur before returning to the crumbs. Emris chuckled, "She really must like you to trust you so much, Terrie."

"Ouch. The poor thing. She was lucky you found her." Terrie's eyes softened, looking at the little duck affectionatly. "It's so nice, being trusted like this." She said slowly in amazement. Trusting others was one thing. Having others trust her... That was a whole 'nother feeling. She sat still, watching the crumbs vanish into the golden beak. Very nice feeling indeed.

"It is." Replied Emris softly before growing quiet again. He watched Terrie and the others ducks for a bit before realizing how the sun was already about to disappear. Walking over to Terrie he touched her shoulder gently. "The sky's getting really colorful tonight." It was true, in the place of the bright sun were streaks of orange, gold, and a pinkish red over the sky.

Terrie looked up slowly and sighed. Giving the duck a final pat, she dropped the last bit of bread on the ground and stood up nodded. "Yes. It's very pretty." Then she frowned. "Do we still have time to look at... whatever it was we came outside for? Or was it just the birds?"

Listening to Terrie's question Emris coughed sheepishly."Well...the birds were my main reason, but I thought you might want a small view of the forest that's surrounding us."
"Or do you just want to head back inside?" He asked quietly for the first time wondering about whether Terrie was tired or not. "It's up to you, Terrie."

Terrie looked around. Maybe a bit of exploring would be good. "Just a little longer then." She said with a playful smile. She headed toward the pond for a closer look, her tail swaying contently. Though the air was becoming a little sharper as night fell, she did want to look around a bit before retiring to the house. She wanted to know what to expect when she got up in the morning.

"Alright." Emris followed Terrie to the pond and pointed at the small ripples that appeared at random. "It's mostly just little golden fish that are in there." He walked around the Willow trees, "The orchard of peaches is over there and I have a small garden just behind those two trees..." He pointed to the young trees that made shadows towards his house, "Mostly I plant fruits and maybe some cabbage and carrots or something like that."
Pointing at the trees he smiled, "You already know what the forest is like, I think." Then he stopped pacing and held out a hand to Terrie, "Shall I take you up and to the cliff?"
