Kel sat down and passed the kids some plates. After setting one for himself, he leaned over and elbowed Seth lightly. "ASK HER ABOUT HERSELF!"
"Ow!" Seth glared at Kel rather irritated. He did have a point though. She turned to Maryl. "So what about you, Maryl? How did you come to be so good with magic?"

Maryl scratched the back of her head in embarassment. "Heh, well I worked at the arcanists academy for a few months but back at the orphanage the head matron said I was a natural. I guess controlling mana came naturally to me since I was very little."

Kel leaned back and looked up at the ceiling. Am I a child prodigy magnet? Wait, one of em is mine. after that much, Kel was content to finish his meal and watch the kids drone on.
"Ah, that's cool. I'd imagine some of those older wizards weren't terribly happy to be shown up by you though."

Kel spent that next morning as he usually did: working. Strangely enough wartime in other parts of the world didn't really harm his bottom line at all. On the contrary, he was starting to see a rise from mercenaries and soldiers looking to spend top gold.

Maryl rolled out of bed disturbed by a faint clinking noise. Seeing the sunlight peeking through her curtain, she opened the curtain and stood up. There was little point to staying in bed now that it was bright and sunny out.
She got dressed and made her way downstairs looking around to see who was up and about.

Kel sat in the living room taking a short break, kicking back in his chair. He looked up and noticed Maryl standing at the base of the stairs. "Hey Maryl did you just get up?"

Maryl sighed, somewhat disappointed with herself, "Yeah... I used to be an early riser, I guess I'm just using up too much energy during the day." She glanced around and listened quickly but heard nothing. "Where's Sarah?"

"Who?" Kel paused for a second, it didn't take long to click in his mind. Oh right. Seth hates her name, she probably told Maryl something else. He shook his head, "I haven't seen her all day, she might still be sleeping." Break time was over, he stood up and started toward the hall for the forge. As he started walking he continued, "Go on ahead and check her room. If she's still asleep wake her up. She does have a deadline to meet."

Maryl scratched her forehead and watched Kel pass by. She shrugged innocently and headed back upstairs making her way to Seth's room. She knocked lightly and spoke into the crack between the door and frame. "Sarah? Are you awake?"

Seth grumbled and rolled out of bed. "I am now.", she replied. Skipping the house shoes, Seth paced over to her bedroom door and opened it to go out. She waited at the doorway with the door open.

"Good afternoon!" It occured to Maryl that she was blocking the doorway. She took two steps back to give Seth room before continuing. "Did you rest well?" She asked figuring she'd just follow Seth as as she exited her room.

Seth rubbed her eyes before glancing at Maryl then starting down the hall toward the stairs. "I pulled an 'all-night'er to finish that prototype but at least now I have a whole day of freedom before the presentation." She paused at the edge of the stairwell and looked back at Maryl. "Do you have any plans for today?"

"Well, not really. I figure I should start looking for a job.", She replied. She looked at Seth and quickly looked away blushing.

"Makes sense, know of any..." Seth paused noticing Maryl look away and turn a bit red. She ticked an eyebrow then looked down at herself, checking front and back. Is my shirt to far up? Are my shorts too low?

Maryl looked back at Seth noticing she had caught on. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to freak you out." She put her index fingers together and looked down at her feet. "It's just you look so tough and healthy, I'm a bit jealous.", She looked up again and smiled, trying to quickly change the subject, "So did I know any what?"
