Teh_Sheba rachaella22 Teh_Sheba Auugh...I can't believe Kataangers. They found my journal entry about the DVD commentary and I keep getting s**t from them.
They still think I'm just sore over the fact that Mike and Bryan didn't make Zutara happen. It's like they don't even read what they're flaming(when have they ever...). I'm honestly trying to move on with this crap, but seriously, seeing spam in my mail box every damn day is not freakin' helping. D:< AVidZktjo is of course getting a ton and a half of s**t as well.
*dejected sigh* Can't anyone express their honest and blunt opinions anymore? Not if you're Zutarian, I suppose. V.V
...Sorry for the depressing post, but yeah, since Kat's phone ain't working right I had to complain to someone. Dx Can they not let us heal? Or even try to understand what we're saying?
Seriously - Bryke mocks us, uses our own fanart to rub canon in our faces, and laughs at the mere thought of such a ship ever happening. I think we have to right to be a little angry. but NO! We're just batshit canon-shippers throwing a tantrum because we didn't get our way.
Wonder how things would be if KATAANGERS were on our end? stressed
At least we have each other, though. <3 Nice, friendly, understanding people who can handle jokes a little butthurt. If Kataangers were on our end? HO-MY, they'd be pissed. For all they say that "Kataang was there and clear and guarenteed from the beginning, they'd have one massive anurism. They think that Kataang has been steadily building up, and for Bryke to throw that all away would be completely out of nowhere and idiotic.
Basically, they'd feel the same damn way we do. rolleyes
You are very right, they are a bunch of hypocrites. I am so sorry, but I have been in this fandom one year, and I know how every cog works. They take things FAR too literally, and they can't handle sarcasm, though they use it enough when they mock US.
Thing is, we just are NOT allowed to make jokes, criticize Bryke, or express our own opinions. Sarcasm is off limits. We are only into Zutara for the Sex, and that is it. We are only trying to get into Zuko's pants.
And heaven forbid if Bryke should insult us, we should just take it and turn the other cheek.
I'm glad to be a Zutarian as well. Best fandom community, EVER! >w< heart They would flip.
And it really bugs me how they can act one way and expect us to do differently. The mass amounts of hypocrisy and self-contradiction is mind boggling, especially on the 'Zutarians are just Zuko fangirls' part, because Kataangers are Aang fangirls. Dx
Yes, Zutarians are awesome-sauce. <3 So glad I discovered this fandom.
To your other post: Oh, I know. Mai and Zuko might like each other, but that certainly doesn't mean they're right for each other. The smallest clash of personality/interest and they break up. Typical Highschool romance, anyone?
I actually wrote a rant on why Maiko/Kataang doesn't work and Zutara/Taang does, just based on personality and needs. It was rather relieving. =D
Uggh. Yes, the lack of development for Tokka (or any[/y] Toph romance, for that matter) was very annoying. Even a five minute clip of her deciding Sokka would be happier with Suki would be nice. At least it shows her getting some closure, right?
It seems Sokka is the only person who understand proper relationships. Dx

And yeah, Zuko may liven Mai up, but it only goes so far. And even then it's just things like fruit tarts and palenquin rides. rolleyes Mai really doesn't do anything for Zuko in the sense of improving his character all she has to offer him is her undying crushy love. Which is all fine and good, but like you said, personality clash... And really, through season 3, she was really just going(blindly) along for the ride with his struggles. When Kataangers say that Mai and Zuko compliment each other, I just have to wonder...>.>
It's not even so much that they let Toph end up alone, because she's TOPH and all... But to develop her little crush on Sokka and just leave it hanging? One of the MANY loose ends that Bryke left at the end. It's like they forgot about it or something. neutral After all, "don't mention the gun unless you're going to USE it." Back before the end, I was sure that they'd put Tokka in as a device to model and foreshadow the unsuccessful, one-sided love of Kataang, and even that it would be a device to lead into a closer bond between Aang and Toph, because then, they'd have that EMPATHY for one another, they'd both know what it felt like to be rejected! It would be a START for Taang!
*aggrevated sigh*
Lol, in other news, though, I got told on my DA account to "GTFO of the fandom," as it were^^ Meaning, the Avatar fandom. >.> Ummm...Yeah, haven't they already noticed that I HAVE left the fandom?? At least the mainstream fandom where Mike and Bryan are OMGawesome and the Finale was totally epic.

And bringing up her parents in Runaway was either half-assed closure, or it was pointless if they were never going to speak of it and show toph's sadness about it again. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that they should have put in LESS filler in the third season and used it to tie up more loose ends, and then at the end, shown more about life AFTER war instead of just the parties(and freaky kisses).
For example, my ideal ending would be for Katara to stay in the Fire Nation and help Zuko out with post-war things as an ambassador(Hell, if I had my way, Toph, Sokka and Katara would ALL be ambassadors) and she'd even stay just as a friend! Cause you know she would either way wink Meanwhile, Aang would take Toph back to the Earth Kingdom to return to her parents and explain the war and patch things up. (Mai and Ty Lee, however, would discover a secret love in one another, and run off into the sunset with eachother)*cough*
I even have this cute vision that I should totes make into a Fanfiction where her parents are angry and scolding at her, but Aang steps in and tells them how important she was and that she helped stop the war with him. >///< Taangy goodness. The only way I can take Aang anymore.
Anyway, I'm rambling off on Taang....
Why don't they ignore it? Simple.

They're Kataangers. rolleyes Teh_Sheba? DO IT. And I shall read happily onward til my eyes bleed. XD It's funny that you say that Katara should be an ambassador to the Fire Nation from the Water Tribe. I wrote this in the Zutara section on my dA, it's to show what I thought about the pairing, and funnily enough, no one has bitched [aka, the kataangers] at me about it. ^_~ Huh, wonder why? xp Zutara, this is the Pairing of Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation and Katara of the Water Tribe. I, like so many others, adore this pairing. Whether it becomes Canon or not, I'll always love this shipping pair. Never, in any other series that I've become involved with have I ever felt so strongly about it.
Now, before you go yelling at me, be-warned; I was a Kataanger. 'Was' being the keyword, I am now a full on Zutarian and I'll sail happily until the series end. But hey, I have my hopes set on this pairing become true, but I'll be okay if it doesn't. Us Zutarians are a strong and powerful group. Nothing wrong with a little hope now is there?
A little food for thought. :3
Aang maybe the one to save the world, but it is up to everyone else to rebuild it. And who says a caring Fire Lord with the help of a Southern Waterbending Master can't help restore balance to it?

And you make very good points. Especially that last bit. I can't see a future in Avatar land WITHOUT ambassadors and negotiations and political marriages between fire nation and water tribes. The Finale wrapped it all up in a rainbow-y little package, and that's good enough for the kids, but we all know what REALLY happens post war. And Aang might be the Avatar, but it's really up to the PEOPLE to play nicely and help each other rebuild.

And Aang might be the Avatar, but it's really up to the PEOPLE to play nicely and help each other rebuild.
To Rachealla: AWWW crap, I don't know if it's my inability to navigate LiveJournal, but the redirection page is not letting me in to see that essay of yours. sad Says I have to be logged in to view it...Which, I am. neutral
Halp? I agree with the pretty little package of 'no problems after the war' being silly. C'mon even though Zuko is a good guy I thought it was too unbelievable that the fire nation was all fine and dandy with Ozai being overthrown. Look at history and you see that it isn't that simple. There are still really dedicated Nazi in the world even Hilter has been dead for so many years. That is the reason I'm going to work on another fanfiction.

Gaah! Sorry. I forgot I have my LJ set to friend's only. ^.^;; I'll make that post open. *fixes*
And, yeah, I agree on the ambassador thing and troubles post-war. Even if Ozai and Azula were powerless (which they aren't, since it's been made very clear that bending isn't a person's only means of fighting), there would still be people from Fire Nation who support the war and view Zuko as a traitorous exile who deserves all the pain he's suffered, not to mention people from all the other nations who view the Fire Nation as an evil country bent on world domination (why hello there, Hamma! 8D). Seriously, things don't get fixed that easily, especially when it's an issue that's been present for 100 years.

Seriously, things don't get fixed that easily, especially when it's an issue that's been present for 100 years. Exactly. The war is over, but it was over so suddenly. The stigma is what remains, both within the Fire Nation and outside it. Zuko was viewed as a traitor, and before that, a banished prince who went against his father. In the Earth kingdom, they even knew his name and story. It's 100 years of bias that's been built up and bred into the society of all the nations that is going to need some real work in fixing.
And true, just like there are still Nazis, and members of the Ku Klux Klan, there will surely still be supporters of Sozin's regime. I actually could see a sort of uprising where Ozai is broken out by some old, faithful nutcases that want the war to continue. Even perhaps some Zuzu assassination attpempts! D: All the more reason he needs a sneaky water-bender by his side, amirite?
After one hundred years of being told that you are THE BEST nation, and that all the others are inferior when someone who was banished, declared a traitor, and scarred by their own Fire Lord, right at the HEIGHT of this war to "unite the nations", that would be a HUGE adjustment and surprise.
Zuko wouldn't have been instantly loved by all like he was at the end. He'd really have to work to get things back on track.
And yay, essay time! heart

Ok, Rach, Your essay: Short, simple, and SO TOTALLY TRUE.
It's hard to imagine that Mike and Bryan don't see this potential in their own story. (I just killed a Kataanger by saying that...) They could have ended things with three, well-founded, well-rounded, beautiful and fascinating couples, instead they went with two malformed ones that make us squirm by how awkward or creepy they look.
It's just as simple as that essay! lol! And MaiLee, totally. That one clicked before I even knew what Maiko was.
*sigh* every time I hear it, I love how compatable Taang, MaiLee and Zutara are. My OTPs. heart

And yay, essay time! heart Exactly! I mean, look what happened to Martin Luther King and Gandhi and all those other political figures - they got killed because some didn't like that they were changing things, because they thought the old way was the right way. As awful as it may be, people tend to react violently or negatively to drastic changes, especially when it's to something that's been present for their entire lifetime. Why would the people of the Avatar world be any different?
=D I hope you enjoy it~!
Edit: xD My response was slightly late.
Glad you liked the essay. I really find it hard to believe that Bryke is so against and blind to the potential pairing that they created and emphasized in their own series. Personally, I'd be flattered by any fans interpretation of my work, because it means they actually spent time thinking and analyzing it.
And, yeah, MaiLee, Taang, and Zutara are epic. <3 JetMai would be pretty awesome, too, but, you know, not very plausible. xD

Yeah, exactly! I mean, it could almost end up like after WW1, when Germany, who started the war, was forced to sign a treaty made by the allies, pretty much stating that they would pay milliions in reparations for the cost of the war, and giving them NO voice in the matter. That put Germany into a HUGE economic slump, with a malformed republic government and left some very bad feelings. And it was those bad, down in the economic dumps feelings, that let Hitler get to power and start a NEW world war!
I mean, if you look at history, the answer is simple; getting Ozai out of power is not the end of the political road here. I don't think in that world it would get too bad because of all the Buddhism running around(with exception of Aang, though XP), but it is possible, given that it was 100 years of hostility towards other nations, and 100 years of thinking their country is doing the right thing...It's going to be a hard thing to overcome, and there will be some resistance. Zuko will do his damnedest to get things on track, I am sure of that, but old-regime officers still bent on domination, people who still distrust the FN in the other nations...
It won't be as bad as starting another war, I don't think, but the Avatarworld is still not out of the woods. There is bound to be some amount of fall-out

Teh_Sheba rachaella22 Teh_Sheba anitasakura rachaella22 Teh_Sheba If Kataangers were on our end?
DxI want to read your rant can you give me the link. Seconded! I'd like to read it as well^^
And yeah, Zuko may liven Mai up, but it only goes so far.
The only Avatar Fandom I'm a part of anymore is the Zutarian one! mrgreen Here be the link.
And, yeah, Tokka was another loose end for sure. A lot of Toph things were loose ends, actually - what ever happened with her and her parents? Did they patch things up, or do her parents still feel protective and misunderstand her? I mean, that's a huge part of Toph's character, and they leave it completely unexplained, not even a hint of closure aside from the letter back in 'The Runaway'.
D: They told you to get out of fandom? If they don't like what you draw/say, why don't they just ignore it?
Yeah, I'm probably sticking to the Zutara side of fandom for now. >.>Yay! Thankies, I'm gonna go read it while I eat lunch! ^^
Simple.
They're Kataangers. rolleyes "Kataangers are Aang fangirls. Dx " Aang fangirls?eww, they actually have those?Wow...That surprises me.Did anyone notice that Toph almost called Aang kinda gayish in The Ember Island Players? She said "...you are more in touch with you're femine side than most guys" which pretty much comes to me as "gay".Katara deverves better than that... stare *cough* Zuko *cough* The "opposites attract" works for Taang also! smile I'm entertained by the cuteness of a partly fighting couple.Aand and Toph fought at times. It would of been so much better if things ended in zutara/taang.

Oh, yes. But no, I don't get it either. I never really LOVED Aang, and after TSR, my liking of him SEVERELY dropped into the negatives. Actually, he started really getting on my nerves after DOBS. He's not really even much of a hero in my book. Just a goofy kid who, instead of taking lessons and owning up to his own faults, got lucky and got super powers from a giant turtle. Buuuut, they seem to adore him...
But yeah, some of them don't even LIKE ZUKO. Kat was actually talking to one(a respectful Kataanger, though) and she hated Zuko. So, go figure, right?
