Oliver nodded. "That's it. Glad you think it will work well." He was glad when they finally set the logs down. Walking with his paws full was quite difficult. He arched his back, then crouched his front legs into a sort of cat-like stretch resembling a yoga position. And in fact, it probably was a yoga position.
Once he was done with his stretch, he pulled a few smaller branches to him. "I can do that, and I know you will have no trouble with the food." He smiled, meaning it as a compliment. He really was impressed with her hunting skills.

She had to resist a laugh at his stretch, reminding her of something her sister would do after their training sessions. Only she would end in a yawn and a scratch of her chin against her front paws before she got out of it. Shaking her head, Brish smiled and gave him a salute, "There'll be no trouble with it on my guard!" She dashed off, dropping to all fours as soon as she was out of sight of Oliver, running with as much ease as she could manage in the tall and clumsy body. In a few minutes she was back craddling the wood with the freshkill on top of it in her arms. "Any place in particular you want it?" she asked, peeking around the bundle with one eye to see if the fire had been formed yet.

Oliver grinned at her salute. And watched as she swiftly disappeared. As soon as Brish was out of sight, Oliver began to build a fire. He cleared the underbrush and found a few rocks to make a circle. He took one thicker branch for the middle and stacked a few smaller branches around it in a tepee shape. He quickly took two rocks and struck them together repeating the action until sparks finally flew onto the leaves he had. He put the leaf under the pile of branches with some more leaves. The leaves soon ignited and slowly the fire began to spread to the branches.

Brish returned quicker than he had expected. He tried to see her around the pile of wood. "Over there is fine," he said as he pointed toward two small trees a ways from the fire. "We can stack them between the trees for now." He paused to look her over. "Nice job, by the way."

She set the wood down where he had pointed, grinning as she bent to pick up the other logs and move them between the two trees as well. "Thank you, you're doing a good job, too," she said, making sure everything was stacked nice and neat. When she had finished she began to inch towards the fire, her grin beginning to fade the closer to it she got. Sitting down about a foot away, she handed over the rest of the freshkill and watched the flames licking hungrily at the sticks. Trying to keep her eyes from blinking wide in a small mixture of fear and panic she tried to smile again, "It's, uh, pretty warm."

Oliver watched her carefully. She seemed quite uneasy around the fire. He took the kill but kept his gaze on her. "I put rocks around the wood to help keep the fire under control," he said, trying to relieve any fears she had. He wanted her to know that he wasn't going to let the fire destroy anything but the logs he had fed it.
He took a stick and carefully stuck the kill on it. Usually he would skin and clean the meat, but he didn't feel the need to now. And the thought of eating it as is wasn't bothering him as much as it would have before. "And now, I will attempt to cook it," he said with a laugh as he held the stick and the kill over the flames.

"Uh huh," she nodded, not taking her eyes from the flames. She finally looked away to watch him prepare to cook the freshkill. Letting out a small laugh, she cocked her head to the side and wrinkled her nose as the scent of the small rodent's fur burning off of its body drifted past her. She commented a little wryly and questioningly, "Attempt to cook it?"

Oliver chuckled. "Yes well, usually I would skin a kill and clean the meat. But I have neither the tools nor the patience for that right now." His stomach growled in emphasis. "Besides," he started thoughtfully, "I don't think it will bother me much this way. Who knows, maybe soon I'll be eaten it raw." He laughed lightly as he turned the kill over the fire.

Brish laughed as well, both at his stomache's statement and his. "Who knows?" she grinned, letting herself slide a little closer to the fire to watch the small bit of meat smoke and start to sizzle. She licked her lips at the smell and picked up one of the fish, using her claws to brush most of the scales out, then digging in to avoid her stomache echoeing his.

Oliver soon pulled the stick out of the fire and inspected the meat. "So I see you're a good hunter, gatherer, and fisher. I must say I'm quite impressed," he said, keeping his eyes on his meal to be until the end of his sentence. Then he looked up at her. "Is there anything you can't do well?" he asked rhetorically, still genuinely impressed.

"I can't shoot a bow and arrows, for one," she said with a grin, licking the remains of the fish from her claws, "And I can't 'dance'." Laughing a little at her second fault, she watched him eat the cooked meat, wondering what it tasted like. Her grin faded only slightly as she reprimanded herself silently, And you can't seem to follow the Warrior Code unless you're walking on four legs.

Oliver laughed. "Well.. I think I could teach you both." He watched her for a moment before taking another bite. When he had swallowed it he spoke again. "If you wanted that is. I'm not the best dancer, but I do know a bit." He looked back at her and smiled softly. "Of course I already promised to teach you to shoot."

"I think I'll make sure to hold you to that promise," she replied, smiling back, "And, let's see... If you add the dancing to your part I'll add bare pawed fishing to mine." Her smile widened a little, her excitement about building the treefort and their little trade of knowledge pushing aside what little thoughts that still preoccupied her mind about the Warrior Code.

Oliver's smiled turned into a grin. "That would be great! I think I'll take you up on that one as well. Fishing with just my paws is a skill that could really come in handy." Oliver continued to think about learning to fish and hunt as he continued eating. Suddenly he realized how rude he had been. He held the cooked meat out a little. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to seem rude.... Would you like to try this?"

"Good, then we have an accord," she nodded, grinning and holding out a paw to shake. She had to hold back a gulp at the offer of cooked meat. It smelled very tantalizing, but she had broken the Warrior Code so many times already today... But if she had broken it that much, would it really matter if she broke it again? She waivered, knowing she could never live as a full Warrior again, yet not willing to relinquish her hold on the code that she had been taught of as the unbendable rules that a Warrior must follow. She looked down a little, smiling sort of crookedly, "N-no, I think not right now, I'm sort of full."

Oliver smiled as he took her hand to shake. "Yes we do," he assured. He wondered why she didn't sound so convincing when she said she didn't want any of the meat, but he didn't feel like prying, and he thought it might just be his imagination. He shrugged and finished the meat. "Well that was a very good meal. Thanks for that," he said as he stretched a bit. "I'm ready to start building whenever you are."
