Kassandra leaned back with a smirk, "Ya sure? I think you'd make a fine member of the night.." She trailed off with a shrug. She was of course kidding with the girl. First of all, Cailee was still only a kid. No way she would turn a kid! Secondly, she'd never turned someone, and she didn't want to accidentally kill anybody.

Taking the cup of coffee in her hands Kassandra took another sip and set it down. "So," she said, leaning back casually in the booth. "What else do you want to ask me?" There was no doubt in her mind the girl wanted to ask more questions. What also led her to ask the question was the confusion written all over Cailee's face. She was most likely confused about how Kassandra could or could not have a reflection if she wanted.

Kassandra sighed mentally as she awaited Cailee's reply. She wondered how long she should sit here for. Her leaders were most likely heading out soon, or had headed out already. Originally the Vampire had planned just to find amusement in the fear of the Apprentice sitting before her, but now.. She had to admit she was having fun talking with the kid. Gosh, what was she thinking? Having fun with a wizard, a kid no less, she snorted mentally at the thought.

"Yeah, I know how you get. I'm just trying to be supportive with obvious lies." Tasha replied cheerfully, then continued with a very slightly more serious tone. "Besides, none of us can say much better for ourselves. I'll cut you a deal, if you can try control temper tonight, I'll try not to make a nuisance of myself." She went back to smiling. Either way, tonight was going to be fun night.

"Oh, I'll probably forget and get them last minute before anyone actually finds out." She joked, directing this at William. "Then to make up for it I'll probably have to get chocolate to! Either way, doesn't really matter too much how I bring it, right?" Behind the house. The usually serene back yard of their house was going to be lively and full of werewolves in just a few short hours. Tasha could hardly wait for the festivities to begin! Tonight was going to be so much fun, she could hardly wait! Then again, if she was going to at least try to behave herself, she probably shouldn't finish off the pop Aly was going to bring. That was a bit of a downer.

Marco made a very low groan behind his hands which were now covering his face, having regrets. Thoughts came swirling in and around his mind like rampaging tornado ravaging the fields. Gatherings weren't that bad but the fact that so many members of the pack, if not all, would be there tonight. Playing, teasing, laughing, mayhem, pushing buttons, and not to mention pups getting toothy. Things would definitely be fun tonight for the pack. He would have to try hard not to yell or snap at anyone like he normally did if they got out of hand, baring fangs or pinning them down with that cold stare of his. Maybe it would be better if he showed up in a change of appearance? He was very easy to pick out amongst the bunch when he changed, that might keep them calm if they knew he was around. Afterall many members would probably think he wouldn't show since this wasn't his type of gathering. The only ones he has to go to are those concerning pack safety and intelligence gathering that were usually handle by him or William.

Deciding to play along now, convincing himself to lighten up, Marco smiled briefly before getting a strict look in both eyes and face."You better bring the marshmallows or you'll have to answer to me,"he said in one of his cold tones, used only when he wasn't kidding. This time he was kidding but he couldn't help but think that was a little to harsh. Oh well, it helped him get his point across in the end."Don't forget to bring the graham crackers too,"he said, again trying to be mean about. He soon smiled afterwards to show that he was kidding, hoping that she got the joke that wasn't really funny. Joking telling was William's department, not his, and he believed that everyone already knew that too. He didn't mean anything from it, not like he was going to punish her if she did forget. Deciding that what he said was too harsh, he sighed before saying," I'm joking," then stared back down at the table top to wait for his food to arrive.

The cake was disappearing much faster than the man sitting at the booth had hoped it would. Of course, what was he to do when a scrumptious piece of chocolate was placed right in front of him? Why, eat it. Philipe lifted his fork forlornly, slicing the second to last piece away and tucking it daintily between slightly quirked lips. At least something good came out of this. The thought came wryly, knowing full well that his attentions were not placed entirely on his 'meal' that he seemed so involved with. His slightly wrinkled ears were perked to hear every word spoken in the booth behind him, where a young Wizard Apprentice sat chatting almost amiably with another named Kassandra. My, my. What do we teach these kids nowadays? With a sad shake of a white-clad head, he finished the last, moist slice of cake and slid his plate away. Taking the napkin that lay beside him, Philipe wiped a small smudge of chocolate from his mouth and rose, placing $3.12 plus a few coins as a tip on the table. Excellent, yet not entirely worth the price. Oh the great cake connoisseur I am! He chuckled to himself, giving the waitress that took his money his best grandfatherly smile.

Ambling just a few steps to his left and leaning steadily on an ornately carved wooden cane, Philipe turned and smiled at the pair conversing, looking only like an old man who had lost his way. "Pardon me, little ones, but might I break in a moment?" He smiled in an unguarded, disarming way, continuing on as if he had received an answer. After all, nobody could blame an old man. "I was looking for you, little Cailee. You had your grandfather worried quite sick. I would have to ask that you come along now; dinner is getting cold. You know how much your family does not like you to be out with strangers at this time." Another winning smile quirked his aged lips, still taking in the both of them with the calmest grace.

He had already studied and dismissed Kassandra. She was a Vampire, even if an underling, and still dangerous should she decide to harm Cailee. An apprentice could not do much against even the lowliest Vampire. However, Cailee would know immediately exactly who he was. Kassandra, on the other hand, might only think him the girl's real grandfather, having no other evidence to go off of. Wizards were not so easily found out as Vampires were, especially ones who blathered about what they were.

"And you, young Miss." he said in the same smiling tones, now addressing the Vampire. "I would suggest you get back to your . . . Family . . . As well. I'm sure they'd very much like to hear how openly you'd speak to another about yourself." Another sweet smile accompanied his last words, although the threat shown through like a beacon nonetheless. He knew very well how Vampires looked down on speaking of themselves to humans, even more so to Wizards, but least of all to Werewolves. At the least, he expected the girl to get punished, if not just killed for revealing even that much. "Yes, I think that would be a splendid idea." he finished, clicking his staff once on the tile floor as if to signal a finality. The loving grandfather look never left his face for a moment.

This is no white cross, it seems we're out of class...
With a knowing smile, Artesia lightly dismissed Marco with a wave of her hand. "Definitely bring everything you were talking about. I love s'mores. We can thaw out the hot dogs over the fire too." She was getting more and more excited as they talked about the bonfire. The only thing missing was a hayride, but they weren't getting that authentic. Besides, where would they find a wagon and that much hay in June?

It was about time she got William back. Craning her neck so her breath would just brush his ear, she whispered, "So when will we run?" By now her hair was just a messy mass hanging over her partner's shoulder. Half of the things she did were to get a rise out of others, half were to get others back for getting a rise out of her. That's what was always said of her and, maybe unfortunately, she had never outgrown that statement. Where was the food, she wondered. She was just about ready to leave it and go.

Alyssa came out, then, balancing all four plates on her arms. Another waitress carried the drinks, and she followed along behind her. Aly could have carried everything herself, seeing as she'd had ten years of practice working at this place, but it was always better to be safe than sorry. She'd already told the girl which people ordered which drinks, and she placed them on the table and hurried away as soon as Alyssa had gotten the food in front of the right people. "There ya go. Sorry it took so long." She smiled apologetically. "I had to keep telling them that eating burgers rare wouldn't make you sick. They still don't believe me."

After she had put the food down, Alyssa had taken a step back away from the table to give herself and the others room. She didn't comment on William and Artesia's little embrace. It was so common she didn't even think it awkward anymore. Now she was just happy that their Alphas cared so much for each other. "So, is there anything else I can do? And did I hear the word s'mores a bit ago?"

"Really. Is that so." Melanie quirked an eyebrow, though her gaze was focused on whatever was in front of her. "Maybe I should dye my hair, then. Can't have that happening again." She didn't comment his laugh. It didn't matter whether it was at her or at the memory of his sister getting chased by a dog. It still seemed rude to her. But then maybe she was taking too much offense. How much could you expect from men, anyway? They're all dorks in the end.

Melanie did look over at him when he started chatting about how Chihuahuas and Pomeranians weren't her type of dog. She couldn't exactly argue that they were. Little dogs could be just so... annoying. Cute, but really annoying. "A lab, eh?" She tilted her head slightly to one side while she considered it. Labradors were supposed to be cute and sweet, right? As long as they were raised right, anyway. "Well, I don't think I'd have time to get a dog anyway. I wouldn't want to neglect the poor thing."

Snickering at his defensive attitude, Mel rolled her eyes. "Oh, of course you get credit for that. It's extremely lucky that you didn't zap the poor girl. Maybe next time she'll be more careful while you're working." Her tone was a mixture of seriousness and sarcasm both at at the same time, somehow. It was mostly his attitude that the sarcasm was directed at, but she was honest about the girl being lucky and she hoped that Ange would be more careful in the future. A Wizard could only be blamed for so much when they're startled.

"A better quality one? C'mon. It would have been fried even sooner. It might even have exploded." Melanie glanced back at the apartment as the lights flickered out. "Yeah, light bulbs might be a better investment." Bot at Malcolm's suggestion and at her own pity for the man, she started hurrying on her way. "Yeah, so am I. And on a kind of related topic, I'm working on some charms that will protect electronics from Wizard energies, which I'm putting a lot of effort into. With any luck, they'll be stronger than what we've had before. And I've been at it for awhile. Hopefully we'll be able to move a little closer to present day. Maybe only by a decade or two, but it would be nice." Delicate magic was one of her specialties, but trying to do something beyond what was doable for only some Wizards had proven to be a task that was much more difficult than she had anticipated. If it paid off in the end, though, she certainly wouldn't mind the loss of her free time that it had taken to complete it.

Cailee smiled as Kassandra asked her if she had anymore questions. That was a stupid question to ask, of course she did! There were so many things she could ask her at that moment, her mind was spinning from all of the things she wanted to know. She had to stop and take a breath for a second to halt the words from spilling out of her mouth like a waterfall of nonsensical slurs. But before she could even get out a word, an old man stood up from the booth behind them, and she quickly kept her mouth shut.

She looked up in horror as she saw who it was, quickly lowering her head in a shameful state. Not only was it horrible that there was someone close enough to them to listen to their hushed whispers, but what made her heart almost stop in shock, was the fact that it was the Merlin. She didn't say anything as she listened to him speak, pretending as though he was her grandfather. She knew it was very convincing, for he looked and acted like a grandfather to her most of the time, and there was no exception when it came to this moment in time.

Cailee wouldn't dare look up at either of them. She felt guilty for bringing Kassandra into a mess that was a predicament for both of them. She hoped she wouldn't get in too much trouble. As for herself, Cailee knew she was dead. She had compromised the one rule that the wizarding community stressed the most: Never ever do magic in public; and there was no way that Philipe missed her little show for Kassandra.

Silently and without question, Cailee slid out of her seat in the booth, standing obediently beside Philipe. She looked up at Kassandra quickly, trying to warn her with her eyes not to do anything drastic, but it was such a small contact that she doubted there was anything to be seen.

William thought the little conversation between Tasha and Marco was silly, they all knew of Marco's personality, and Tasha was right to say he was always hard on himself. Although he did have a hot temper, William could never hold it against him, and it never got too out of control, so he just let him be, with a couple of jokes here and there, of course. It was slightly amusing that Marco was trying to soften up, most likely getting himself ready for tonight when he would be in an uncomfortable situation, but it still made William feel all warm inside, like one more member of the pack was finally joining in on the fun, instead of straying off alone.

But feeling warm and fuzzy inside was hardly a feeling when Artesia put her lips to his own ear. His smile was no longer large and toothy, changing so it was more of a smirk, hiding this new emotion that wanted to make it's way onto his face. But he kept himself composed, knowing if he reacted in such a way, Artesia would get what she wanted, and as much as he wanted to give her what she wanted, there was a better place and time for it.

William's heightened senses kicked in now, so even though his attention was on Artesia, he could hear Alyssa and the other waitress coming, as well as smell the delicious food they were so anxiously awaiting. As the plates of food were being set on the table in front of them, he whispered back to her, "As soon as the food disappears off of our plates." His smile came back as he took the mess of black hair that was draped over his shoulder, pushing it behind her ear with his fingers.

Chuckling as Alyssa explained about the delay with their food, he thanked her. There was nothing else he needed so he simply didn't say anything, letting the others have a go at answering her question about s'mores as he took a bit of his burger. He savored the juiciness of the meat as he chewed, eating slowly and carefully. Manners meant a lot when you didn't want to seem like an animal, especially when there was a literal concept to the statement.

Rourke sensed the mood change in Alastar and let the subject of George fall away, he never wished upset on his brother and he trusted his brother to deal with whatever haunted him. George wasn’t the first human who wanted to added to the family and he certainly wouldn’t be the last. Rourke did worry for his Alastar a bit but that was natural for him, the vampire could take care of himself and if he needed it he knew where to get an extra pair of hands.

Rourke concentrated on his wife and her wishes for the evening ahead, “The invitation is open should you want to accept it.” He said to Alastar, “You know where we will be and I trust you would have found us even if you didn’t.” Over the centuries they had learned how to track and very well.

He lapsed into silence looking at nothing in particular. To get to the park and their meal there he would have to walk Alette by the Peppermint Café and the animals that congregated there to bark and howl at each other. Rourke was not looking forward to that. He made a point of knowing what they were up to; he had to. He looked down at what he wore; dark blue, pressed jeans, a lighter blue shirt and dress shoes. He might brave the closet again for a jacket but he was comfortable enough. Tonight was for Alette and he was not planning on any altercation with the werewolves but he would be prepared.

"I'll walk you past the cafe," Alastar quickly asserted, his voice cutting through the silence with a lazy joyfulness. Although the place in question was dangerous, he was as chipper as if they were walking past a zoo or monument he could, in childish glee, gawk and stare at. The twin was much more elegant than that in his observations, but he couldn't help that very human desire that made him slow down to stare at car wrecks in rampant curiosity. Perhaps that was a good trait for a vampire: people were turned and lives were 'saved' when one found a human on the brink of death. Well... saved or damned.

"I fed earlier today, so I'm not really hungry," he waved his hand dismissively. Madeline (that would be his female playmate) had stopped by earlier. While some might find his romps morally despicable, Alastar liked to think he was providing a fine example for other vampires on how to attain and keep a variety of persons for a period of time. Really, blood was like a fine wine... if only it aged better. George was like a dry Merlot and Madeline like a light Zinfadel.

"Come Cinderella, Prince Charming," he said, stalking over to the door and throwing it fully open with such gusto that it seemed he was trying to imitate the flashy brawn of Gaston from an entirely different Disney film. "It would be shameful if we didn't have you dancing in the moonlight by midnight." Checking his bare wrist, completely devoid of a watch, his eyebrows shot up. "My my my, we haven't nearly enough time if you keep standing there as if you're dead."

Cackling to himself at his own joke (and not waiting to see if they approved of it), he started to prance out the door like a parade horse, legs lifting dramatically in his not-quite-so-silent march.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 30, 2008 10:54 pm

Alette smiled, both at Rourke's offer and at Alastar's reply. "Well, that's kind of you." Her tone was vaguely amused, but she really was grateful. She had no doubt that she and Rourke would be able to protect themselves, but as they were going to walk right past a spot known to be a gathering place for the wolves, it would be wise to add even one to their number. Especially depending on how many of them were there at the time. Surely they wouldn't be fool enough to attack them out in the open, right in the middle of the city, but with those animals. you could never really guess.

Glancing back at Rourke, she noticed him giving his outfit a once over. It prompted her to do the same. She wore a red three quarter sleeve shirt with a curved neckline, black denim pants and black shoes. It would do for a night out. Besides, it was a very replaceable outfit. If something happened, she would rather be wearing this than one of her nicer outfits.

As Alastar stalked to the door, which he threw open with a tad too much enthusiasm, she looked up to quirk an eyebrow at his back. "Cinderella? Hardly." Alette couldn't - or rather, wouldn't - argue with him on the 'Prince Charming' count. As far as she was concerned, their General had hit the nail on the head with that one. Her gaze flickered to fix on her husband at the thought, and she smiled wryly. The mention of a midnight dance caused her to chuckle, even if the idea was a little bit tempting. "And here I am without my glass slippers."

She glanced sideways at the General as he pranced pridefully - and noisily - out the door. "I don't think he'll be waiting for us." Turning back to Rourke, she tilted her head to one side and held her hand out, palm facing up and pointing vaguely in the direction of the door. Her smile was barely suppressed. "Shall we go, then, Prince Charming?"

This is no white cross, it seems we're out of class...
Mal couldn't help but agree that she would probably neglect the dog. She didn't seem like the type to faithfully care for a dog. Neither was he, really. The only reason he had Ange was because his mother was gone and his stepfather was ruled unfit to raise her. He pointedly ignored the obvious sarcasm in her voice.

"I didn't mean better picture quality. I meant more durable. Like your regular 27" TV that goes in a basic entertainment system. Those don't fry when I pass by with this on." He fingered his talisman. "They may cut off or get a snowy screen, but it comes back once I'm out of range." As they started walking again, Mal listened closely to her. "So this would protect any TV from all energies, even mine?" Who knows; if this worked, he might be able to get Ange a computer for her birthday in a few months.

Crossing her arms over her chest, Tasha pretended her own serious tone and look. It wasn't very convincing, she didn't really have one, to be perfectly honest. "Oh no, I promised marshmallows and chocolate. If you want s'mores, you have to bring your own graham crackers." She stated. "Yeah, Aly, you wanna bring the crackers? In all honesty, I shorted out my budget last week getting new shoes and stuff. They're the only thing I keep forgetting about." The rest of statement didn't need voicing in public. The shredded remains of shoes that scattered her room didn't need bringing up.

The soda straw was in her mouth before the cup was hardly on the table. She took a deep and satisfying sip of her coke before setting it back on the table top, right next to her food. One of her hands cupped her chin with a smile on her face. How much she loved soda was almost a tangible thing. She delicately took a onion ring between two fingers, rolling it once around her index finger before biting into it. The talk of more food for later was making her even hungrier, especially when Artesia brought hot dogs into the equation.

"Could I get another refill?"Marco asked curiously, looking down at his empty mug. Usually coffee wasn't the first choice when it came to eating a burger but he didn't mind the unusually taste he got from it. He took off the top bun and reached for the ketchup bottle, twisting off the cap then carefully shaking the bottle over the exposed patty. He didn't lather it on but placed enough to were he'll be able to taste it with every bite, placing the cap back on then settle it down where he got it. He took the bun then placed it back on top of the patty now smothering in ketchup, sealing it in to place while he lifted it up with both hands. Since the burger was rare with juice dripping from the bottom of it, he leaned forward to make sure he didn't make a mess when he sunk his teeth into. It was a pretty good size bite which was delicious with the taste of ketchup, onion, pickies and the taste of blood that wasn't to hard to miss. That iron taste had a habit of overpowering the rest of the condiments. Still, the burger was good as always with no room for him to complain. All he needs now is a refill on coffee and this might turn out to be an alright night.

After swallowing the bite in his mouth, Marco proceed to take some fries from his plate and quickly devour those before speaking."If we are eating now, don't you think that everyone esle might have ate already? I'm up for the idea of hot dogs but I don't want to be the only one eating them,"he said, taking another few fries in his greasy hand. He wasn't looking at anyone in particular when he talked, already lifting up his burger again for another delicious bite. Very rarely did he ever stare anyone in the eye when he spoke light-hearted like this. When it was a more serious matter he usually stared at the person talking, showing that he was paying attention instead of ignoring him like he sometimes did.
