Our Witch of the Month

This is where we post the Witch or Wizard of the Month! Their Avatar and interview will be posted. The Witch/Wizard is chosen by their activeness in the school, their personality, and any other redeeming qualities they posses. Here's this month's choice!

She only gets more and more active. She's orgainized contests and helped with Operation Scourgify. She just started the paper's comic strip, she's...

My interview with AngilWingz:

Q: What, if you are willing to disclose, is your name?
A: Ok, I'll give you my first name, it's Tammy.

Q: How did you discover Gaia and , eventually, our lovely guild?
A: My friend Zarin Denatrose was talking about what his interests and I was curious so I got him to send me the link to gaia. I later introduced C h a r l i e to gaia, and she introduced Crimson Tweety. One day Crimson and I were talking and she mentioned this guild. She said it was really fun and oprganized, so I searched it in the guild list.

Q: Are you in any other guilds? Would you say you are more or less active in those?
A: Certainly, I rarely ever post in the regular forums anymore. The Crazy//Beautiful Society and Vampires Anonymous have only a few members and aren't super active. The Laundry Mat and Poll Central are usually extremely active.

Q: It is common knowledge that you headed the Avatar Costume Contest at the recent guild party, the Book'n Bash, how was that experience?
A: It was a lot of fun, though a rather hectic experience. It went by so quickly and I was rather busy. I enjoyed it though.

Q: What, in your opinion, affects your activeness in the guild most, would you say? What makes you stick around?
A: The other members are a must. I could never stay active in a guild that wasn't sort of active to start with. I check it at least once a day, and I enjoy people replying and making new posts. The other thing that keeps me around is the organization and feedback. Things actually happen and I can actually help them happen.

Q: Do you think there is anything that would make other guild members as active as yourself?
A: Not really. Each person enjoys different things. Being active is a choice. I choose to be active because I enjoy being a part of this guild. But replying to what people say does prompt them to post more and make them feel more at home. (In my humble opinion.)

Q: What is your favorite thing to do, outside of Gaia?
A: There's other things to do besides Gaia? eek (Lol, just kidding.) I really like to read. I also enjoy sewing and other crafts...or just plain being creative. I own a saprano saxophone and I am currently learning to play the guitar.

Q: What is your favorite book/author outside of Harry Potter/J.K. Rowling?
A: I really enjoy The Face On The Milk Carton series, which includes The Face On The Milk Carton, Whatever Happened to Janie, The Voice On The Radio, and What Janie found. I also really liked Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Yay for the number 42!

Q:Which is your favorite character from J.K.'s books? Which do you think you are most like?
A: My favorite character is probably Hermione. I don't think I am particularily like any one character. I'm smart like Hermione, strange like Luna, and sometimes mean like Draco and forgetful like Neville.

Q:If you could make one aspect of the magical work real, what would it be?
A: I'm not sure I understand the question, but I think I would most want brooms to actually fly.

Q: What is your favorite article of clothing, for both yourself and you avatar? Do they dress similarly?
A: My favorite thing is probably my chevy trucks t-shirt. My avatar dresses nothing like me because I like to dress her pretty outrageous at times, and the things I wear that are actually available on gaia are too boring to put on my avatar. If gaia had rubber bracelets then I'd put them on my avatar and she would look a little like me.

Q: Which book is your favorite of the, so far, 6 Harry Potter books written by J.K. Rowling?
A: Number 3: Harry Potter and the Prisoner Of Azkaban.

Q: You are walking down the street in London and you see J.K. herself! If you could ask J.K. any question about anything (like the books) what would it be?
A: I wouldn't because that would spoil the surprises in the last book, and I wouldn't want to do that.

Q: You seem to be getting more and more active, which must be why your this issue?s Witch of the month, how do you feel about this recognition?
A: I'm really surprised actually. I never expected it to be me.
Q: Finally, is there anything you want to tell the readers?
A: I'm not going to ask permission to use anyone in my comics so if anyone objects please PM me and I'll be sure not to include you in any comics.

Harry Potter and the Half Blott's Prince

By Emily Tuffet
---Hoards of witches, wizards, and muggles alike flocked into bookstores everywhere for the book Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, written by a precocious muggle called J.K. Rowling when it was released on July 16, 2005. The sales of this book broke records in almost every place it was distributed, to understand the real scope of books being sold, we asked an employee of Flourish and Blott?s to tell us about their sales records of this book?

Interview with Flourish and Blott's employee, who preferred to be interviewed as Anonymous:
Q: Can you give us a solid number of copies of The Half Blood Prince that you sold here and the day of the books release alone?
A: Sure! I think we sold about 919,000 copies on that night alone. I tell you it was one of the longest days of my life; thousands of people comin' in from all over just to get this stinkin' book! Of course I complained to my manager, and he says to me that "we gotta think of the customers, and better yet the paying customers!??" and yeah, I'm jus' thinking yeah, there is no better customer satisfaction than givin' a crazed screaming Pot'er fan the book they've been waitin' exactly 25 months, 1 week, 3 days, 8 hours, 3 minutes, and 4 seconds for. Now me, I know better, I should have been worryin' about the after math, yeash I tell you!
Q: What do you mean, "the after math"?
A: Well, that one fan I was telling you about, when she came to get her book she was screamin 'er bloomin head off she was, tears streamin down her face, I swear the nut jobs I've gotten in 'ere...Well anyways, two bloomin' days later she comes burstin' in again beggin' me to somehow conjure up the 7th book! She was down on 'ere knees an' all. I din't know what to do.
Q: Now can you give us the total amount of copies you have sold so far and how many you still have on order?
A: Well we've sold abou' 1.5 Million copies so far, and we still have roun' a thousand lef' ter go, we should be getting our final shipment in round 2 days. Its just in time too, we are bout right on top of the Hogwarts student's season. We'll be getting thousan's of students comin' in pretty soon...

---One upside to the 6th Harry Potter book coming out, other than millions of people in the world now knowing who dies, and who the Half Blood Prince is, and the bookstore companies have had a major upsurge in their income resulting in doubling the store balance, the Flourish and Blotts bookstore alone now has a balance of 3000 galleons, instead of its previous 1500 galleons.
---The author, Ms. Rowling, has become one of the single wealthiest women in the world by documenting a story based on facts of our world. Now that the 6th Harry Potter book is out, Post-Potter-Depression will set in again on the fans until the date for the 7th and final book's release is announced; then the fans will wait and debate, and wait and debate, until the final book is released.

The back to School Boom

By Figgy Prewett
---Another fine summer has come and gone and a new school year approaches. The Hogwarts staff has spent all summer re-vamping the school's entire education system and they are not the only ones preparing for a new term. Magical shop keepers from Yorkshire down to Kent are cramming their shelves with stock for the "Back to School Boom", as they call it.
---From the beginning of August, onward, magical shopping centers, like Diagonally, are packed with students preparing to return to schools like Hogwarts. In fact, many of the stores in Diagonally sell more products during this "boom" than they do around any other time of the year, even during holidays like Christmas.
---One thing is for sure. Students better get down to their nearest magical vendor quick, before this annual boom makes a bust.

A New Beginning, Chapter Two

Christen Wilson
---"Since when did you know about the magical world and why couldn't you tell me that I am a wizard?" I asked staring at Sarah instensly. She looked back with a mixture of confusion and curiousity. "Well, Tom, I wasn't allowed to say anything of the sort to you" Sarah commented looking off to the right of me. That comment only made me feel more frustrated so I lied to her just then. "I'll give up on that subject" I said forcing myself to calm down, what was this anger building inside me? I had no idea. Sarah's smile brightened as She picked up her coat and went to grab my wrist. "Lets go to Diagon Alley and get your supplies, I'll send the owl to them later." She said and I voided her grab. "Since when do you know about this kind of stuff..." Then the thought dawned on me so I added. "You're a witch aren't you?" Sarah nodded after a moment of hesitation, then she grabbed my wrist just then. Something inside me snapped causing me to black out totally.
*Flashback*
---It was raining and thundering outside the orphanage in Little Hangelton as a sudden rapping sound came from the front door, Sarah, well the younger Sarah walked up to the door yawning then opened it. Who would be stabding there but Mr. Riddle himself holding a bundle that looked like it had a baby in it. "Mr. Riddle?, what a suprise!" She said. "Ms. Porter, I don't have much time, can you please...look after my son?" He replied handing her the bundle that he was holding. "But...why?" Sarah asked feeling a bit anxious suddenly. "I just have to...go" He said walking out of the door frame then ran down the street, his footsteps faded quickly and Sarah closed the door looking at Mr. Riddle's son. "It will be ok, I promise" She said smiling weakly.
*End Flashback*

The Forgotten Equipment

By BabyShady
---Three times Tracy walked up and down the deserted hallway, keeping the same thought in her mind. A bag with everything I need for Potions, she said in her mind, just needed for one class period. That was all she needed, just one bag. A cauldron, a book, whatever could be inside of it, just something that could get her through her double potions without a series of shouting from her professor.
---Double potions was the class she had to be in, for it would have started in a matter of minutes. Yet she had nothing, none of her bags, cauldrons, quills, or parchments. Everything was resting peacefully in the Slytherin Common Room, where a password prevented her from entering.
---She was always known for forgetting everything, a password was just one of them. She remembered it perfectly, or so she thought. Patterworms, that was what it had been. Yet after repeating it so many times, she eventually found out she would not be entering the common room unless someone else arrived, which was obviously not happening since everyone had left earlier for the first double potions of the year.
---The professor already despised her, since she had been late for every potions class since the first of the term. How was she to go there saying she had none of her belongings.
---"Come on!" she yelled at the invisible door in the middle of the wall. "Where are you?"
---Every now and then, Tracy would turn to make sure no one was watching her. She would get in serious trouble, wondering the corridors while she should have been in class. "Two more minutes," she said, checking the watch run on magic that her brother had given her.
---Once again she walked by the empty walls, where the door had appeared for her many times before. She was ready to give up when it happened-the door had appeared!
---"Yes!" Tracy couldn't help but shout. The door to the Room of Requirement had finally appeared, and she was ready to grab the bag and rush to the class room.
---Tracy pushed the door open and dashed in with a wide grin on her face. But sadly it had disappeared as quickly as it had arrived.
---The bag lying on the floor was decorated by a small toy the muggle children used... a Barbie, or so it was called. It was open and inside was the few items she had wished for. A bag, a parchment, a quill, everything was there... just a bit differently than she expected.
---So there she was. Tracy walked into the Potions Classroom, late as she had expected. All eyes where one her, especially the professor, who looked about ready for the series of shouting she had wanted to avoid. The students laughed slightly once they saw her, due to the fact that she was late, but once they saw the pink Barbie decorated bag on the back of a Slytherin, the true laughing had begun.
---Maybe I should start coming a bit earlier to class...

Excited Parents New Friends New Hopes and the Express

By Christen Wilson
---Pure-blood wizarding families were the most common respected in the magical world but one of the most popular family that let muggleborn witches or wizards into their house were the Potters. The Potters had been friends with the Black's and the Malfoy's until the two families had taken a liking to disliking them for being most respected out of all three of them, that being that they were not deatheaters.
---The Potter's youngest child, James Potter, had actually taken a liking to pulling pranks on his parents and next door neighbors. His parents didn't really care, just told him to not blow the house up or the neighbors either. When it had neared the middle of August an owl had arrived carrying a letter with a seal on the back. Mrs. Potter took it from the owl and flipped it over then nearly fainted. "David!" She called to her husband. "What Anne!?" David Potter asked running in looking scared that something might have happened. "Jamesie has been accepted to Hogwarts like I expected!" Anne squeaked, she was so excited she inhaled a big intake of breathe and yelled. "James Potter come down to the kitchen I have something for you!!" There was a loud bang and a slamming of a door as the young Potter jumped down the first set of stairs then the second. "Yes mum!?" He asked sliding across the kitchen floor and falling over because he only had socks on. Anne laughed slightly and handed her son the letter that was in her hand. "What's this?" James asked sitting up along with looking confused as hell.
---"Something very special" David replied smirking then he walked back into the other room of where he was doing some work for the ministry of magic. James silently opened the letter and read it quickly a look of surprise dawning on his face. By the time he was done reading his eyes had gone wide. "Yay! When can we go get my supplies!?" He asked jumping up but he fell back over. Damn socks and smooth hard floors. Anne smiled and teased James softly. "My little Jamesie has grown up where has the time gone?" James looked a little annoyed at first then smirked.
---"He's finally going to go learn what he is supposed to!" He said happily. "Your father will take you tomorrow" Anne said looking at the sink full of dirty dishes. "Ugh, that's it magic time I can't keep doing things the muggle way" She muttered then picked up her wand that was on the table and swished it at the sink. The plates and bowls had cleaned themselves and then stacked up on each other in the cabinet then the glasses landed softly on a towel to dry. James looked in awe for a moment then smirked. "I can't wait!" he said running out of the room. Anne watched as her son ran back up the stairs and shook her head smiling broadly. "He's so energetic when something new comes up, I bet Diagon Alley will get him riled up even more" She said.
---The day went by very slow for James but in turn he wouldn't ruin it, he would stay in his room, full of stuff he used for pranks on his parents and just read the letter over and over again. Dinner had come and gone so quick it felt like he had never moved from his spot at his desk. Yes, James Potter has a desk, well, only to hold his plans for pranks to pull. Around midnight his mother called for him to go to bed. "Yes mum!" He called back jumping onto the bed. About two minutes later he was fast asleep dreaming who knows what
---Eight hours later, something had tackled James when he was half asleep. "Hey son its time to get up!" called his father who had started to jump slightly on the bed. "Alright I'm getting up!" croaked a sleepy James. "Good, I'll meet you downstairs in an hour" His father said leaving the room with a pop. "Damn him for apparating on me" James cursed under his breathe then laughed slightly. His father, when he was James' age, was a mischief maker, but his mother was a girl who always liked to read, he always wondered how they got together because of how his father pulled pranks on her a lot.
---An hour later James walked, well actually slid down the stair railing and jumped off at the end of the line. "So how are we going to get there?" he asked curiously and his father handed him some powder in a flower pot. "Floo of course! I just thought it should be about time where you learn how to floo, son" he added looking at his son's confused features. "Oh, Awesome!" James said after a minute of trying to figure out what his father had just told him.
---Flooing is what witches and wizards use for traveling to other places they need to be at in a certain amount of time or less.
---James walked over to the fire place and stood there looking confused once more. "Here get into the fire place and speak clearly ok, Say Diagon Alley!" David said slowly. This was awkward to James because he knew he was a pure-blood beginning wizard but he had soo much to learn and it just felt weird not knowing what the term "Floo" was.
---Taking a deep breathe, he threw some of the powder he had taken from the pot and said loud and quite clear. "Diagon Alley!"
---It felt like he had been sucked up into some sort of vacuum cleaner, well the only thing he could hope for was to not fall out onto someone and get embarrassed but James also knew that his father was coming right after him which would be good cause they would have to have get out. Let me get to Diagon Alley without embarrassing myself He thought just as he landed in the back of a book store.
---"Ow..." James moaned closing his eyes then started rubbing his head and then walked forward but after just a minute or so he accidentally ran into something or maybe someone, knocking it over. "Ouch! Watch where you're going!" someone croaked from under him. James opened his eyes and looked down to see a boy just of his age on the floor rubbing his shoulder. "Sorry!" He said helping him up. "Shhh! I'm hiding from my witch of a mother and I mean the bad witch kind" The boy said shushing him.
---Wow, is this guy serious? James thought to himself and just blurted out. "James Potter" "Sirius Black" the boy replied which caused James to fall over. "What the!?" Sirius asked looking down at him. "Sorry I just had a scary thought pop into my head and it caused me to fall over" James lied. "Well then please get up and quit making so much noise she just came in!" Sirius hissed indicating a woman that surely did look evil if you got on the wrong side of her. "Sorry!" James whispered and Sirius just shook it off.
---So for about ten minutes Sirius and James talked with each other, getting to know the other in turn and also about Hogwarts. "Believe me James, Slytherin is an uh oh" Sirius said laughing. "An uh oh I see, I'll go to the sorting hat and say "Don't put me in the uh oh house please!" right?" James asked looking highly amused. "Psssh thanks for that one there!" Sirius said rolling his eyes after that comment. James sighed and stood up. "Well I think your mom is going to kill you if you don't go back to her and my father is probably waiting" he said shrugging, as Sirius stood up they both looked at each other then burst out laughing. "We are soo going to rule Hogwarts when we get there" Sirius said through fits of laughter and James actually had fallen back over. After a minute or so the two had calmed down and said their goodbyes then set off to find their lost parent.
---James found his dad with all of his stuff almost already. "Wow, what else do we need?" James asked and his father looked over to Madam Malkin's and Ollivanders. "Just your robes and wand actually" David replied as James helped him with some of the stuff. "How about we go to the robe shop then to the wand shop?" James suggested staring at them both. "Ok, lets go then" His father said as they both walked into Madam Malkin's. A plump sort of lady came scurrying around the corner to see who had came into her shop and smiled when she knew who it was. "David Potter and this must be James!" She said smiling happily. James was about to say something but shrugged it off as he stood up on a platform for where you were supposed to when you were getting your robe size fitted out and other stuff.
---It was about an hour later when David Potter and his son were found in the leaky cauldron with all of James' things ready to go back home.
---"Ready to go home son?" David asked and James nodded. "Ready!" He said then walked into the fireplace with some of his things calling out the name of his house then disappeared followed by his father.

***

---The month had passed actually very fast for James and Sirius too, September 1st had finally come up so it was time for them to go to their new school. At the train station James already left saying goodbye to his parents and was walking down the isle of the train to find a compartment. He wasn't watching where he was going so yet again he had someone run into him, this time it was a sandy haired boy who looked anxious to find a compartment alone for that matter.
---"I'm soo sorry!" He said getting up after picking the book up he had dropped. "It's ok really, hey are you looking for a compartment?" James asked and the boy looked up. "Yeah, I am but I don't want to intrude if you are going to find one for yourself, I think" the boy replied. "Come with me, I don't want you to end up in the isle" James said grabbing the kid's shoulder and led him down the hall, that's when Sirius appeared from the third to last compartment and waved to him.
---"Oi that new friend!? Come bring him!" Sirius called out and James could feel the boy in front of his blush from embarrassment. "Hey that's just a friend" He said patting him. "Oh! I forgot to introduce myself, I'll do it in the compartment" He added as they walked in. "Sirius this is..." James begun as the sandy haired boy interrupted. "Remus Lupin" he had said it so quietly Sirius could barely hear him. "Why speak so quiet Remus you should be excited!" Sirius said grinning. James sat down next to Sirius and then spoke. "This is Sirius Black and I'm James Potter" Remus sighed and sat down by the window on the right side. "I'm just tired if you?re wondering" He added looking at the two boys. James poked Sirius in the side and grinned. "Are you tired my friend?" he asked. Sirius then faked a yawn and accidentally hit his head on the wall; well he had obviously done it on purpose.

The Truth Figured Out.

Christen Wilson
---A knife was contained in his right hand as his other fixed his feather hat. The once cheerful yet daydreaming storeowner of the Barton Boutique that everybody loved, was nowhere to be found, all that was left was a cold blooded soon to be killer. Ian walked slowly into the room that contained the young Gino Gambino in Sasha's bed, and closed the door behind him. He was still holding the knife and he wouldn't put it down until his deed was done, the young Gambino did look peaceful in his slumber but that was soon to be interrupted.
---"I have to do something about this...I'm sorry Sasha" Ian whispered, his words almost sounded distant to himself but why would he care? Gino's features contorted and he slowly opened his eyes and looked around. "Where am I?" He asked almost immediately to no one in particular, he didn't know Ian was in the room of course. "You're in Sasha's bedroom Gino, go back to sleep you should rest" Ian said hiding the knife behind his back for the time being. "I'm in Sasha's bedroom?" Gino repeated looking confused now, so he sat up and looked at Ian.
---"Yes, you're in Sasha's house..." Ian said now feeling slightly annoyed with the teen so he leaned against the wall still watching him. Gino, now feeling a little uncomfortable shifted to get off the bed away from the older man. "Where are you going?" Ian asked causing him to stop. "I'm going outside for some air" He lied getting up then straightened his clothes out the best he could before standing up to his full height.
---"Oh is that so Gino?" Ian asked standing up straight also then he fixed his hat once more so the turkey feather in it was on his left. Really having a bad feeling about the older man, Gino backed up to the closed door and set his hand on the golden knob to turn it. "Yeah I?m just going for a small walk around the house...that is ok right?" He countered turning it now.
---"Oh that's ok, I guess..." Ian said still staring at him. Gino quickly exited the room and shut the door behind him before running over to the front door then stopped when he heard the door behind him open. "Why in such a hurry?" Came Ian's voice. "I'm not in a hurry" Gino said turning around he had opened the door so he had a clear shot of just running off.
---"Are you sure about that?" The other countered walking toward him. Gino took a step back then saw a building that was surely open and on the top had in big gold letters "Casino". Wait there wasn't a casino there before; did someone open it when he was gone? Well it's worth a shot to go in there to hide, even though he didn't know about it so Gino started backing up one step at a time.
---Ian was coming closer with ever step he took, now or never, Gino stumbled out of the house and ran for the casino. "That little brat!" Ian muttered then followed him out the door. "Got to hide!" was all that Gino was thinking right at the moment, he went up some steps and then headed straight for the casino dodging Ian who had tried to tackle him
---"Gosh, that made him look weird." Gino thought then literally grabbed the door to the casino and ran in ignoring the fact that gaians at the slots were staring at him, even some of his fans didn't even go after him, its because of how scared he looked. Running down the front hall he didn't see the three gaian girls coming his way oblivious to him just like he was to them. BAM!

Hogwarts Monthly Promotions!

I have been fortunate enough to have another good, fairly steady writer. She may not have been able to write in every issue, but she has put her heart and soul into what she has written all the same. She dose not even have to do what she dose. I mean, this is her own leisure time that she is writing in and I am proud to promote her this month into a higher rank among my writers. Not only has she gained my complete trust and undying gratitude, but she will now also receive a pay raise with my thanks.

Final Note from the Editor:

----
Did you like that issue? I'm glad if you did, but if you think it is still lacking please send me feedback through this very thread. I enjoy "Good Work!"s but in order to continuing a constant upward climb I must receive things to work on. So tell me what you seriously think and you don't have to sugar-coat it.. wink

Thank you for your coments in advance,
Mafalda Prewett
