"I'd love it if you did..." Carlos grinned up at Adrian, a little spring in his step as he walked. "Well... see for yourself," he said when they reached his door and he opened it, biting his lower lip. He let Adrian go first so he could get a proper view.
The bedroom was... well it was a bedroom. A little messy and cluttered, definitely had that lived-in feel. The floors were dark-stained hardwood, but several rugs (and articles of clothing - oops) covered the surface. Carlos loved to walk around barefoot when he was at home. At his desk were writing supplies, his dresser had a mirror and in front of it were his brush and things for his hair. He tried to ignore those. And his comic books, and random paperbacks.... his dog-eared cocpy of Pride and Prejudice was on a table near his bed. The bed itself was another darkly-stained piece of wooden furniture, a faux four-poster: though it had four posts they didn't really have any purpose. Sometimes he draped boas and random stuff from them. The mattress was soft and springy and the head was strewn with all manner of pillows. He loved pillows and blankets... and the little Adrian plushie he had hand-sewn, it had braids and ribbons in the hair. Did he see that hiding in there?! Oh crap... Best not look at it, he might see you looking and look too... His model cars were nice... in clear cases for viewing... ahem... and sitting on or around his television. He had a game system in here too, but the TV was used a lot more frequently for movies than anything else.

Adrian looked around the room. 'Yep, it's very Carlos,' he thought. He wandered around, looking at everything. He stopped at the bed and examined it. It looked really comfy and inviting, well almost. There were a little too many pillows for the rat's liking, but this was Carlos' bed, not his own. "You know, this room just screams Carlos. I bet if I was just wandering the house and came across this room for the first time, I would know it was yours."

Carlos was very red in the face, his ears were momentarily flattened in such away that they seemed to be pointed downward. "You... think so?" Despite his embarrassment, he was also very pleased. "Well, anyway... what would you like to watch? I have a ton of movies, and Dad lets me get those On Demand movies on occasion too."

Adrian nodded. "Yeah, I really do think so. I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it." The rat shrugged. "You pick a movie. I don't really care what we watch as long as we get to lay down and rest while we watch it." Secretly, the rat was hoping Carlos would cuddle up next to him during the movie.

"True..." Carlos chuckled a little. Any movie, eh? Well... why not that one? He laughed a little and grabbed it out of a pile - Adrian could see which one if he wanted - and got the movie set up. Then he jumped back with the remote, kicked off his shoes and hopped lightly onto the bed, spilling half a dozen pillows onto the floor. Despite his small and light frame, it almost seemed to swallow him up. Crawling back to the head of the bed he found the plushie, quickly hid it in the mountain of blankets, and sat propped up against the pillows. No doubt he was an amusing sight, but he didn't care. If he was any happier, he'd be purring and kneading the air. Instead, he patted the spot next to him grinning up at Adrian.

Adrian watched as his boyfriend bounced around getting the movie ready and getting comfortable on the bed. 'Yep, he's part cat alright,' he thought as the unicat sunk into the mountain of pillows. "What was that?" The rat saw Carlos hide something as soon as the unicat saw it. He was curious as to what the other was hiding from him. He sat down next to Carlos and stretched out. "Your bed is very comfortable."

"Um... a stuffed animal..." He saw it! Well, maybe he'd hear that and leave it be. Of course if Carlos could have seen his reddened face he would not have believed it. "Yes, I love it," he grinned, bouncing a little in place. "Oh, now if you want to set your beer down and there's stuff in the way just move it." Some people felt strange moving people's things around.

Adrian raised an eyebrow. "Why would you have to hide a stuffed animal?" The rat knew that there was no way that whatever the other hid was just a simple stuffed animal. 'Is he hiding something from me?' he wondered. "Alright." He moved some stuff around and sat his beer down within arms reach, so he wouldn't have to move once they started the movie.

"Well..." Should he show him? "Because it's embarrassing." He sighed and reached inside the covers, pulling out the Adrian plushie to show to the rat. "I missed you a lot and I had a lot of free time to figure out how to make this." It wasn't even because he was getting too old for something like this... probably the most embarrassing thing was the braids. He knew Adrian hated them.

He stared at the plushie for a little bit, taking in the fact that it was him, for one, and that not only was it him, it was him...in braids...with ribbons. It looked like him the day that they had their first big fight, not a day Adrian really wanted to remember. "Why did you want to remember me they way I was the day we had the huge fight?" he asked, trying to stay calm and not blow up at the unicat. "Do you want to remember that fight? Because that's what comes into my mind when I see that thing," the rat said shortly.

Carlos' ears drooped a little. "I know that... I just really liked how they looked on you. I wasn't just saying that before, you know. And, well... I didn't expect that you'd see ever see this, so I figured it was all right." The unicat cleared his throat and pulled the plushie into his lap, staring down at it. He looked at all the little imperfections in the handiwork and still loved it, which was already evident by it's slightly worn look. "Anyway, I'll put it away. It's not like I'll need it now that you're here."

"How the hell can you like such a girly look on me?" the rat growled. Adrian didn't want to believe that he looked good in braids...and ribbons. Secretly, ever since that day, he's been wearing his hair in braids at night, because he like what they did to his hair, but if anyone found out about that, he'd have to kill them. It was his little feminine thing. "You don't have to put it away if you don't want to. You need to toughen up some, kid, if you like it, then keep it out. Don't let anyone force you to hide it, simple as that, even if it's me, got it?" The rat was touched that his boyfriend missed him so much that the unicat made a plushie of him. It's a very sweet gesture.

"Um, well..." Would it be wrong to say he did not really think of it as feminine? To him it just looked like Adrian. Hell, Carlos liked some pretty girly stuff by comparison. Make-up (just a little) and his favorite boa (it was just so soft)... fluffy pillows and silky sheets (more texture fixations)... How his father put up with it he didn't know, though Jimi had mentioned that Carlos' star-shaped birthmark made him look like a My Little Pony...
He had heard a lot of what Adrian was saying before, in pieces from other people. Don't let people get to you. Don't let them keep you from doing what you love. But it was Adrian... if he didn't like it then Carlos wanted to stop doing it, at least when it was around. He looked down at the plushie. Then he set it down and wrapped his arms around Adrian, leaning his cheek against the rat's chest. "I understand..."

Adrian watched as Carlos left the plushie out. 'Good, he actually listened,' he thought. "If you let people tell you what to do, they will take advantage of you." The rat spoke from experience...that was not a fun time at all. "Oh, and don't expect to see my hair like that again," he said, refering to the braids and ribbons. He would just have to go with out them for a night if he ever ended up spending the night with the unicat.
He wrapped his arms around Carlos and kissed the top of his head. "Are you going to start the movie, or are we just going to lay and stare at a blank screen?" he asked. "What movie did you put in anyway?"

"I know." He knew in theory, anyway. Jimi was good at sheltering his son to an extent, if he was good at nothing else. One thing he had never had to experience was being taken advantage of except in very minor ways. If he never again saw Adrian in braids, it was all right. It was his head after all, and said as much. "That's all right, it looked nice, but it's up to you of course." He said it as gently as he could think of. He felt no bitterness about it and he did not want to pressure him either.
He snuggled closer and grinned, glancing up at the rat. He waved the DVD remote in his hand; all he had to do was press Play. "Pride and Prejudice. I thought you might want to see it again. We can watch something else though if you're in the mood for something different."
