"Rocinante is my autogyro. I've roamed the continent with her. Her motor runs on alcohol, so wherever there is human habitation I am almost guaranteed of finding fuel. And in a pinch, I've got equipment for setting up a small still to create it myself. I am a teetotaler, but my dear Rocinante is a bit of a lush. "

"Oh. So, Rocinante is a small craft?" that made sense. It was a little funny to Penelope that Myles referred to his aircraft as though it were a person. Though, in the same vein, her grandfather had named a few of his knives and talked of them like they were old friends. "Interesting."

"pilots tend to get so in sync with their craft that it almost seems as if their craft have personalities and could speak back. I hope to get that close with the Khaos, but we need a test flight for me to get good with her controls and habits." Daniel heads back into the kitchen. "Is there anything else you need help with?" he asks Penelope.

He looks back at the table and notices the larger chair. "that might be the captains chair but i cant sit there with my wings...."

He heads back to the table and switches out the high backed captains chair with chair that would allow his wings to hang over it.

"It's even more so when you've built the craft from the ground up. I know every inch of Rocinante, inside and out. And I've made it so I'm the only one who could even get her started up."

Having ones craft only accessible to oneself was a good security measure. Daniel could definatlyly agre with Myles tight security, a pilot was lost with out his ship to dote on.

"You built her from the ground up? Wow, how long did that take? She's not a conventional craft with her engine."

Daniel gets a feeling that he's missing something. Were did that mechanic lady get to? He never even got a chance to ask her name. Eli didn't see where she went either... Strange.

"on the note of us flying the Khaos, we will need to secure most of the larger junk aboard. if we have to take evasive maneuvers from something I don't want all the junk throwing off the ballast or punching holes in the Khaos' sides"

A thought struck Daniel, "Penelope, when we get this ship ready and finally get out on an adventure. we may run into trouble at times, the air pirates still haunt most sky lanes. though I'm sure Elliott can take care of them with the new crew. But can you handle this?"

Myles grins and whips out the gentleman's walking stick hanging at his belt like a sword. He slides open a hidden panel near the handle with one finger and presses it, and at the end of the walking stick something small and jagged clacks out and crackles with a blue spark.

"My craft's key is also a tooth, if need be. I can handle a bit of rough and tumble."

He puts it away and sits at the table. "I've studied the works of Master Tesla, among others. I built my first steam-powered cart when I was nine. At thirteen I built my first alcohol powered internal combustion engine. Of course, shortly after that I was forced to build my first still, as my grandfather whipped me soundly for burning the contents of a fine bottle of port which could have, in his opinion, been otherwise employed."

"what is it these days with every one having a sparky stick?" Daniel wonders to himself, thinking about the brigand attack before. The money he took from the unconscious brigands had more than paid back what he had spent on paint and dye.

Daniel leans on the back of his chair, "I'll bet he wasn't happy about that bottle. My grandfather was none too pleased when I sneaked my first swig from his stash. I was raised on an airbase and my grandfather taught me how to fly. I can pilot anything ranging from a personal flight pack to a capital class cruiser, but the smaller and faster are more fun to fly,"

Daniel grins. The first time he flew a flight pack he ended up crashing into a magic shop and got it fused into him.

still fun though.

The teapot hops onto the arm of the chair and scampers up Dan's arm and perches on his shoulder and gives off a happy puff of steam from its spout, smelling of some fine blend of tea.

"Kinda like a pirate captains parrot..." he mutters. To Penelope, "There anything else to be done?"

Penelope leaned against the counter beside the oven and listened as they talked about airships. At the mention of air pirates, she nodded and answered, "I'll be fine. Air pirates don't scare me much."

She fell back into her own thoughts as the conversation turned to grandfathers. Already, the girl missed him. Nothing could get her to admit it, though. Showing affection for one another was never really something Penelope and her grandfather did.

Daniel's words brought her back to reality and immediately she smelled something burning. Penelope turned and opened the oven, grabbing a rag before reaching in and taking out the slightly burned biscuits. She set the pan down and fanned away a bit of the steam/smoke with the rag, then turned off the stove.

"Gracious snakes alive. I apologize if these are a bit too done on the bottom, I suppose I lost myself in thought." the girl blushed in embarassment as she scraped the biscuits loose of the pan and set them on the table as well. There was nothing else to get, the sausages and eggs and buscuits were cooked and on the table, and she could clean up later on. "What was your question?"

Abigail had found herself unemployed. This was bothersome as work was required to make money and money was required to pay the bills and the bills had to be paid to keep the law off her back.

Even as an archaeologist she hadn't been making money and working in labs wasn't exactly very exciting. In comparison, the big bad boys of the field were off having the time of their lives exploring ruins, conversing and antagonizing natives, scavenging abandoned cities and ships, and generally adventuring. They hardly wanted a girl mucking about and showing them up. However, funny thing about adventure: People tend to get hurt. Injuries are terribly inconvenient for questing, requiring time lost recuperating at best, and an untimely death at worst. That being said, it's terribly convenient to have someone around to make the hurt stop. That's where Abigail found her entrance. Boasting a considerable knowledge of all things medical, she tagged along, learning the ropes as she went. Unfortunately the men found her out after six months and sent her packing, even after all her lovely (and quite lucky!) work.

When she'd gotten back, Abigail realized the best money she'd ever made was when she was playing doctor with important people. So she took some time to study under a local physician and expanded her knowledge of the medical world. With his blessings, Abigail left the man's employ and went to look for work. She found it here and there in clinics and hospitals, working sometimes as a freelance medic. But eventually wanderlust called for her again. So she followed a few sources and found her way to the docks.

Abigail looked at the ship before her. After snooping through the docking records she'd found this behemoth's crew lacking a medic and decided she would come down to inquire about the position. Squinting, she adjusted her glasses and eyed the area for any sign of a crew member.

Daniel shook his head and smiled. "I don't mind at all about crispy bread, i have to eat a bit of coal anyway to keep my boiler going" Dan chuckles at this.

Getting up off the back of the chair he had been leaning on Dan moves to the bulkhead and opens the shutters and windows to let out some of the smoke, fanning it a little with his wings.

Daniel looks out at the dock, distracted by the people moving around the dock. He notices a woman standing at the dock edge closest to the Khaos looking around.

"ahoy there ma'am! Be with you in a moment!" Daniel shouts out the open window.

He turns to Penelope and Myles, "we have a visitor i think, be back in a few minutes, save some for me!" He grins as he scoots his chair back to the table and moves out of the galley and heads to the deck.

once there he extends the gangplank and walks over to the woman, the clockwork teapot still perched on his shoulder. Dan smiles politely "Is there anything i can help you with ma'am? You look a bit lost."

(ooc note: i will draw a map sooner or later of the balloons and ship but for now: Hanger is lev 4, Cabins lev 3, galley lev 2, bridge is in the tent part of the ship atop the deck. what should lev 1 be? pm me on this: i will remove this note when i draw the map)

A call sounded from above and Abigail craned her neck just in time to see a man, surrounded by smoke and leaning out a window, before he disappeared. It was almost quite comical really.

Smiling, Abigail picked up her carpet bags and walked towards the ship's entrance. When the man from the window appeared, she promptly put her bags down and, flashing another toothy smile, Abigail eagerly started her pitch.

"Actually, the question is can I help you?" She stuck a gloved hand out towards him as she introduced herself. "My name is Abigail Tennant, Doctor Abigail Tennant to be exact. According to a couple very reliable sources, rumor has it that you intend to go gallivanting off in this ship without the aid and comfort of a medic onboard! Heaven forbid anything bad should happen but if something should I've found it's best to have someone about who can stave off the worst until a hospital can be reached. That being said is there a captain about I could talk to?"

Myles loads up his plate heartily. "I don't know why, but I seem to have developed an uncharacteristic appetite lately. Until recently, I was a very slim eater. But it doesn't seem to be affecting my weight at all."

Eli disembarked from the small carrier vessel, uttering a breif thanks to its pilot as he looked around at the Shoreleave docks. The Anachronism may be a fine guild-city, but it was unique in being a city with very little underbelly. Elliot found that a flying city did make this somewhat hard, there was no 'below' to escape to unless you could manage the fall, and as such he had had to visit another city entirely to get the...supplies he needed. With a full messenger back at his hips, he strode back in the direction of the Sky docks, where the Khaos was moored.

Daniel scratched his head sheepishly. He had totally forgotten about the importance of medical assistance while in flight. "too much time in the smaller birds i guess"

he shakes Doctor Tennant's offered hand, "You're quite correct, it would be completely irresponsible of me to allow us to fly lacking a medical staff. I am Captain Daniel by the way." The Teapot gives a short whistle of greeting as well.

"we would gladly accept your help Doctor, while we may not be 'gallivanting' off on an adventure just jet, we do plan to set out eventually. The air pirates are all over the place these days."

"Might be a good idea to have another lady aboard, it might be hard for Penelope to relate to the rest of us air dogs...."

"There is nothing wrong with eating." Penelope loaded a plate, being sure to leave enough for Mr Daniel and whoever may find their way aboard with him. It seemed that every time he left the ship, he returned with a new crew member.

She sat down beside Mr Myles and said a quick, silent prayer, then began eating. "I wonder who Mr Daniel saw outside."
