"Really" remarked Altair as he began putting the mattress cover on the mattress. As he put sheets and pillows on the bed he continued talking. "I'm pretty good at mechanisms. Did you see the lock?" he asked. "I doesn't require a key, like a combination lock. A special combination of jiggles and turns unlocks or locks it." Altair filled with pride. He finished making the bed and placed the cane next to the bed. He immediatly kicked off his shoes and hopped on the bed, landing on his back. He scooched over to the other part of the bed and patted the empty part of the bed between the standing KC and him.

KC smiled and sat. She pushed her shoes off and pulled her legs up on the bed. Sitting cross-legged, she fell backwards to the head of the bed. She found this to be one of the few comfortable ways to lay on a smaller bed. She stared at the ceiling for a moment, then stared beyond it. "You should put something up there. It's pretty boring," she said, monotone. She wasn't really paying attention to anything anymore, not even herself.

"Hmmmm" said Altair aloud, "How about...." he cut off his sentance when he realized KC wasn't listening. He waved a hand in front of her face. No one home. He smiled and began to stare out into space as well. He turned to look at her bright face, staring out nowhere. He moved over and cuddled with her, quickly dozing off into a shallow sleep.

KC suddenly jerked forward, yelling, "BOOGIE MAN!" She put a hand on her head and groaned, "What the-... Oh, did it happen again?" She sighed and continued muttering to herself about boogie men and shotguns.

By the time she sighed and continued muttering, Altair was under the bed. He purposefully got a bed with a gap underneath just incase he phased through, which he just did. He rolled out from other and crawled up on the bed. "What the hell was that KC?" he asked nudging her as he sat next to her.

KC jumped slightly; she'd forgotten Altair was there. "Oh, uh... I was spacing, that's all. That one was a deep one, and those one's I, uh, yell when I come out. Just some random stuff. Usually Simpsons stuff; I love the Simpsons almost more than anything else in life. That and Spongebob." She sighed again, this time dripping with glee.
{{That's true, too. Simpsons and Spongebob RULE! There's even new episodes of Spongebob all this week. YAY!}}

Sam landed lightly on her feet, the strange wings disappearing as her feet hit the solid metal beneath her. She stood straight and stretched, looking out around her, way high up on the remnants of an old skyscraper. She settled herself on the edge, viewing the silent, empty city with a blank expression. She settled her weight back on her palms, closing her eyes and listening to the wind rushing around her comfortingly.

Altair smiled and laughed at KC's randomness. He kissed her lovingly on the cheek and laid down again, cuddling closer. He smelt her hair as he fell into the same shallow sleep as before, drifting away into dream land.

KC half-smiled and fell back again, somewhat drifting off to sleep herself. Her ears started twitching uncontrollably, as they usually did, hearing things she would normally block out subconciously. Some things she didn't even want to hear drifted in, somewhat disturbing her sleep.

"So you have no idea where she is now?" Thorn asked Azura, raising an eyebrow. "Isn't that kinda dangerous? What with the few survivors there are...some of them have lost their morals. They're just scavengers...hunters." His normally joyful expression faded into something a little more sad, solid, as if thinking of something he didn't want to recall.

Sam suddenly heard a loud snap, then a whistle as something flew past her head. She spun back in a roll, landing in a crouched position on the roof. She dropped to her stomach, crawling army-style to the edge of the roof and peering over. A group of three stood below, one of them aiming an old shotgun at her. She gritted her teeth angrily. "Scavengers," she muttered distastefully. "'Course, they don't know I'm one of the few with...capabilities." She grinned to herself and suddenly stood, taking a running dive off of the edge of the building. She let the wings loose after giving those below a short scare, flying towards them at a rapid pace.
She let loose a roar from her throat, flipping herself over and aiming a foot at the man with the gun's head, delivering a sharp kick. She did a backspin through the air, landing gracefully and folding the almost see-through wings. She let out a growl at the other two, the third knocked out cold.

Azura gave a comforting smiled to Thorn, who was clearly worried. "Don't worry. No matter how many pranks I've gotten Sam with, it doesn't mean she isn't sharp. She is pretty smart, and resourceful. If anyone tried to attack her, they'd find themselves dead before they could touch her."

Jade had traveled to the room were everyone else was after Sam left and asked the same question KC had. "Hey, where's Sam? Well, never mind. It's not exactly important, is it?" She giggled slightly. "Although... We do seem to be missing some other people... Where are they?"

"Freak!" one of the two remaining screamed and grabbed a pistol that has been hidden on her form. She fired off shots at Sam madly, but the air elemental used a giant draft of wind to go between the two of them, and veer the bullets just off course that they missed Sam by just an inch. She grinned wildly and sprang forward, delivering sharp punches and kicks, the woman only blocking a few. Sam suddenly spun back on her heel, a smack echoing as her spinning back kick connected roughly with the woman's jaw. A broken jaw and out cold, the remaining stood shaking.
"Maybe you shouldn't fire at something that you don't know what it is," Sam said, cracking her knuckles. "Hope no other scavengers find you here." She then sprang forward, knocking him out as well with a sharp knock to the head.
"Idiots..." she muttered, then snapped open her wings and took off on her way back.

"I hope you're right," Thorn said. "But we ran into some angry hunters the other day. They were firing off bullets like madmen."

Azura giggled, winking at Jade when she said, "KC & Altair went upstairs." She said it in a way that made it sound as if they 'hit a home run'. "Sam went out somewhere. Probably to go kill some scavengers, seeing as she can't really kill me." Azura chuckled.

Suddenly, KC jerked forward again. "What the-? I can hear... more people. But these... Hm... Altair, wake up." She shook her gently. "There are scavengers coming." She spun around and slid on her shoes.
