Again her words tumbled by him like a stream, although he heard them clearly. His calm enjoyment of his shaded sand-salt spray as he admired the stone made him seem slightly detached from his reply.
"Llune what?" he asked. His natural assumption of her having a descriptive tribal name making him ask in reflex.
Perhaps if he stilled the conversation from it's leaps and bounds she might settle just a little. Not that he expect much change. It was hard not to be reminded of the younglings not yet almost-adults or small children as the dark haired elftess seem as fascinated with their legs (wiggling toes?) as he was with the stone.
Another absent bite of the fruit as he kept half an ear on the conversation.

Dancer just chuckled a bit and said," Oh nothing" She let him enjoy the stone she gave him. In truth she was happy it made him so happy. So she just sat a bit. Slender fingers pushed the sand about. Blues looked at the sea and the sky. She watched Fire Bright play in the water a bit then shake himself off and find a sunny place to flop down. "I'm glad you like the stone so much Crosscurrent. You can do as you like with it."

"That is the idea with gifts," he assured her without losing his smile. Thoughts still pleased with the various ideas he had. Besides it might be nice to see a crafter..
And being a Wavedancer (playful, mischievious) he left his thoughts to lean toward Dancer. A kind of 'thank you' nuzzle above her ear before he returned to his lounging stance: holding the stone to the sky. Crosscurrent knew she'd turn red again. Something that made her either babble faster (a scary thought) or almost speechless. He risked the first reaction to make her blush like a starfish.

And red she became. He could hear a swallow as she looked in the basket and pulled out a little red fruit. He could smell the sweetness in the air from it. Her cheeks though well tanned were still nearly as red as the little fruit she held. "Have you seen these before? Try it. It's really good. Sweet and juicy." She seemed to giggle uncontrollably for a few moments then handed it over to him. (It's a strawberry) "I found a small patch of them in the forest where the sun peeks through the trees just right."

Okay, Crosscurrent couldn't help himself when she offered the fruit. His hands were full from the almost-pit he'd been eating and the stone. And he liked the sweet scent. There was only one way to take it without disturbing his items. Nothing serious when it was with a sibling as close as a twin - sharing was natural with them.
He could only smirk briefly though before leaning in to taking it from her fingers with his mouth. Keeping her in the side of his sight so she didn't realize right away that he knew perfectly well how this would make her more flustered.
It was so fun watching her like this. Especially when she was unable to notice... not having a sibling herself? ... how much he was playing with her.

Fluster her he did indeed do. She blinked and held her breath as his lips touched her fingers. For what seemed in her mind like forever she stared at him with wide eyes. When she snapped out of it she shook her head lightly then looked away. Fussing in the little basket just to keep busy. No Dancer had no real siblings but it wouldn't have mattered. She wouldn't have looked at this situation the same way as a sibling or even a tribe member she was close with. Still she was having fun and no matter the color in her cheeks or the tremble in her voice she would still tough it out and stay. "Do... Do you like it?" was all she got out.

Crosscurrent didn't fake his real plasure as he said, "Wonderful. We should gather more. Because I'm starving." The fruit he'd nearly finished was tossed far behind him for some scavenger or insects to find. Salt water always lent a taste to the food he ate that the red berry in Dancer's basket lacked.
He already felt a slight additction to this new food.
Forget the flirting. He seemed to have a knack with her already. It was this berry that now interested him greatly. "What would you call it?" he wondered (assuming that, as a land-bound, she'd know) as he snatched another one from between her nervous hands.

A Wide flutter of lashes then a joyful laugh was all she said for the moment. Now who was acting like a child? It was cute to see. She handed him the little basket that held 3 more berries in it. "You may have them all but if we get more we will have to go on Fire Bright. He's faster after all and I'm not sure how long you can stay out of the vast deep." It was a polite way of fishing for information and less direct. Dancers face beamed watching him enjoy the small red fruit so much. She also thought they were sweet and tasty. Now a name that was harder. She had been thinking of names for them so she ran a few past Crosscurrent. "I guess we could call them red berries, fire berries or sweet berries." She shrugged slender shoulders a bit. "I don't know. What do think when you eat one? What comes to mind if you close your eyes and let it sit in you mouth on your tongue for a moment?" A cool breeze from the sea sends her hair swirling about her face. As it is pulled to the side she looks for Fire Bright and keeps him near so they can go when he is ready.

Fire.. a human concept that seemed to have importance with her. And her suggestion for it, or red berry, made him recall her blushing hue more then either.
"Blush Berry maybe?" as he popped another one in his mouth, eyes closed to better enjoy them. He could imagine the breeze like a current so easily as he sat there. Now and then a leg shifted for a few minutes into the sun-soaked sand next to him, but he didn't wish to move into the water often.
"I've seen a few other berries of similar shade, so red doesn't work. And they all taste sweet in different ways. Besides," he said with a smirk as he went to eat another, "it will remind me of your sudden 'tan' right now."
ooc: happy belated July 4th!

"Blush Berry... Blush Berry..." She mulled the words over in her mind a bit. "It's as good a name as any I suppose. That sly little look on his face ignored for the comment he made about her coloring. "I will have to find something that is so new to you it will take your breath away." Her voice chuckled as she spoke and gave him a little grin of her own. She was starting to feel more at ease with him but still had that slight flutter in her belly should he touch her in any way. Sapphire eyes cast skyward a bit then back to Crosscurrent. "We should go if you want more berries. Even on Fire Bright it's still a ways." Dancer stood and brushed the sand from her tush and legs. "You'll be fine I promise." She gave him a little wink and held out her hand.

"Rush rush rush," he teased in good nature, not wishing to do much right now. No way would he mention he still had a small fever or felt a bit light-headed. He'd rather make her think him lazy then worry he was sick. Besides, there was still his traps to check later and more do arrange for his new 'home' not far from here.
He un-propped himself to lay back on the shaded sand: arms crossing behind his head as he closed his eyes again. A brief moment to give a small wave of 'no thanks' before the arm returned to it's position. Toes wiggling, then ankles shifting side-to-side, soaking the daystar's light that reached them.
"Next time," he promised.
ooc: the usual numbers for how he's feeling. BTW, wish me a happy B-day!

She smiled softly then shook her head. The outstretched hand dropped to her side with a little sigh. "Alright" Her voice calm and soft. Still her eyes held a touch of disappointment. Moving to where the water rolled lightly onto the beach Dancer walked along the beach slowly. Fire Bright joined her and pawed at little fish darting about in the shallow water. The sun was getting hot as it climbed across the sky and Dancer was longing just a little for the cool caress of the forest. Still the water washing over her feet was nice too. **Crosscurrent** Dancer didn't feel like yelling a conversation and wanted to let him lay and relax if that is what he wanted. **Tell me more about your kind of elves. That is if you feel up to it. I know the memories are painful to us all but I want to know about all the new tribes that are gathering with us.** She half expected a reaction like the one she got from Savith. I wounded but controlled no. He did share with her before though. Remembering the sends she got as she drifted off to sleep, the night before Crosscurrent got sick. Then another thought darted into her mind. Did he get sick because of her? Because he took her under the water, kept her there so long and shred his breath to help her breath? This made her frown a bit and she was glad he couldn't see it. Dancer wondered why she didn't realize sooner but then the answer was there before her. She didn't want to. She was happy with her new friend and was thinking little about the strain it must have put on him. She resolved herself to thinking more about how things were affecting everyone around her and glanced over her shoulder at the resting Crosscurrent. Smiling she went back over and lay beside him. Chuckling softly she did as he did to her and nuzzled him just above his ear. **Thank you** was all she sent before laying back as he was and closed her eyes. The send was fond and caring as one might feel for a dear friend who was also a slight crush. Dancer waiting to hear of his tribe or to get a no not now from him.

There was more then daylight to bask in as Dancer lay beside him. Her attention to him (and his tribe) eased his heart the way the shaded breeze did his fever. Eyes stayed close even after the surprising nuzzle at his ear.
"Painful? Hardly. There has been only three sorrows among us since the first Wavedancer dove into the sea: the mad-hungry Chiefs, one of which leads the Gliders, is the most recent." It was best she understand some small part now. He could tell of the beauty and joys afterwards to wash away it's bitter taste. Images behind his eyelids were kept tucked from his tongue as he sought to speak of it without the darker emotions he felt. It almost worked.
"We took the name Wavedancers for what we did. We became those who loved to dance in the Vast Deep. Instead of going stagnet in the hollow of caves as the Gliders would do we sought the ever-open waters to thrive in." A shrug, even if none would notice, was all his thought on that.
"It is said that our first Chief was a strong healer who couldn't fly. There is an old story that she feared the heights too much, or perhaps she lacked that magic. All I know is she helped flesh-shape the tail and fins that we have now.
"So, we journey for a time. Death and life continued as we learned to live in the waters we swam through. I'll get back to those after this sorrow is told.
"The Gliders followed the rule of their one Chief, although I'm told they call her Lord. She was mad. Blood hungry for the magics that we have. So she sent her 'hunters'," an angry growl at the tainting of a good duty he hated to shave with them, "to find us as a hawk would a fish."
Crosscurrent failed to notice the hot tear that escaped the corner of his closed right eye. Or the scowl as he contained his emotions that had made him long ago consider that while elves didn't kill elves (a human poison/idea) it left other things.
A moment as he sought to calm rough thoughts into a more passive telling.
"We have lost tribemates to them. They live, we know, because there are Sendings after a time. Thoughts of staying with them when none had ever desired it before. And in those emotions is a strangness that makes us wary of their truth.
"But that is a Sorrow. Today is too beautiful to dwell on those." A forced grin to put himself in a better mood, Adin Crosscurrent then began with:
"There is a tale of one of our most skilled Shield users getting mistaken for a seal by the small human tribe ..."
He would talk about the more amusing things various tribemates of the past did. Becoming more relaxed, more unguarded, and letting his tongue unchecked as he fell into an almost-asleep state. These words held such fondness as only those who felt their deep stir in their hearts could give.

As Crosscurrent spoke Dancers normally happy face sank a bit. She felt his pain and heard it drip from every word. No wonder he didn't want to see Savith. She wondered to herself if Savith had been one of the "hawks out catching fish" as Crosscurrent put it. That would explain why he didn't want to talk about flying and his tribe much. To think how similar they all were and yet how very different. These tales from other tribes were enthralling and educational. Dancer enjoyed them no matter the joy or the sorrow. As he spoke she played with his hair. Stroking it slowly as a Mother might to relax a child. She let the back of her hand drag over his temple just a bit to wipe away the pain and sorrow that escaped his closed eyes. She then lay back again but scooted in a way so that her head touched his. She just thought it would help him feel better to not feel so alone. "I'm sorry you and your kind had to suffer so much pain." was all she said in a quiet voice. Letting him vent and tell her the tales of his tribe. That was until she heard the word seal. "What's a seal? Some sort of big fish?"

Almost asleep Crosscurrent gave a ..growl?.. at the interruption. It did, however, make him focus again.
"Stop cheating here. I'm not going to show you the whole of the Vast Deep right now. So, about Wavedancers.
"No telling the Glider about these, Dancer. Got it?" Even fevered he didn't want to give any ideas, temptations, or even politness to the air-walker.
"We have those who have the self-magic to shift from tails to legs, like me. It helps when dealing with the humans. We also have those who lack that Gift, many because their magic is strong elsewhere, like Eltiln. My mother had the fins upon her arms and legs. So we are all colorful as the fish we swim among.
"Two Chiefs lead us when it comes to dangers: one for the hunters, one for the crafters, injuried and children. Thankfully we rarely need their guidance for more then an elder's word."
