spanishnerd99 Dio mio! Solo ho 14 anni. redface ("ho solo 14 anni"sounds better 3nodding ) From your profile, I see you're from Tuscany. That's so cool! It's not your fault, I didn't ask the right thing! So "egli" sound kinda like "ell-yeeh"? yes!One thing that's easy for me is the silent h, cause it's the same as Spanish. So unlike the "g" sound in "giorno", when you put the "h" after it, it's a hard sound, right? -> 3nodding And your English is amazingly good! It's good; English is difficult to learn because of all the rules and exceptions. You must be fluent. 4laugh Thanks! I wish I was fluent in spoken language, I have to practice gonk Eng is not so difficult for an Italian, especially the verbs! wink Luckily here Eng is taught at school from when you are 8 whee You have no idea how long I've been waiting for an Italian speaker to come here and help me! I'm just overjoyed! Well, I'll be back tomorrow! It's probably early in Italy right now, but it's almost 1 AM here in New York. Buona notte, la mia amica nuova! biggrin New York! heart I'm very curious to visit it, I hope I'll manage to travel in USA and Canada in the future...^_^ last advice:when you say an exclamation usually there is no articolo - you can say "amica mia!" or "nuova amica!" I'm happy to teach you, you're an amazing "student" biggrin heart

Ok, then...so it's "nuova amica!" I'm new at this...can you tell? I'm trying to teach myself. The state offers Italian, but my school doesn't. rolleyes We start learning a new language in 7th grade. To me, it's kind of late...I would have loved to learn Spanish at 8. Maybe I'd be super-fluent right now, in writing AND speaking. sweatdrop

Ugh, I'm losing it, I'm quite sleepy (it's 2:35 a.m. xp ) Ma no che non sei irritante! sei curiosa di sapere! 3nodding Mmh, I think "I'm pleased", "It's a pleasure"(to do it).... sweatdrop Yes,we don't use those names, we have a totally different system: we start school at 6 and it's called "elementari"(5 years), then we go to "medie(inferiori)"(3years), then we choose what kind of "(medie)superiori" (5 years) we want to attend (for ex. I chose the "linguistic high school", where you study foreign languages) then we choose the University - and the city (for ex. I chose "Oriental studies" in Bologna). Until 5 years ago University was4 years long, but the former government changed it in 3+2 years...and they made a mess. scream I'm going to take the3years degree, it's a waste of time and money attending the 2 years "specializzazione" because there are almost the same exams and organization simply sucks.. mad ah, from 3 to 6 children can attend "asilo", I think something like the kindergarten; it's useful because they get to know other children and parents have less stress, because they often both work.. The "compulsory school" is from 6 to 18,though I have to graduate soon! xp

spanishnerd99 You're studying abroad! That's awesome! I'm dying to be an exchange student to a hispanic country...but my mother won't have it. sweatdrop Anyway, which do you think is harder, Japanese or English? (kind of a stupid question) I think you'd be a great interpereter! I like you're idea of being a translator/pulisher...I'm going down the language path of careers too in my own mind right now, even though it's so far away. So I'm taking all ideas possible. Have you ever thought of writing your own textbook/workbook? That's what makes me inspired. I'm trying to learn a little of many various languages to see which ones I really like, so I can prepare for the future. Where do you think you'd travel to?(me+travelling=utter excitement! xd ) Japanese, but only because you have to learn kanji! There are so many! xd Thanks! I hope to achieve my goal, whichever will be! Interesting idea, I've never thought about it.. I make a "personal textbook" during language courses, I take notes during the lessons and I copy and organize them at home, rules on one side(front), new words on the other side of the page(rear). I don't know, I'd really like to travel all around the world!! xd I'd like to start with Canada, USA and North Africa, then South Africa and the whole world rofl You're very bright, you know? You're a smart girl, you have a great future 3nodding 3nodding

You're a smart girl, you have a great future 3nodding 3nodding Asian languages are a bit intimidating to me. I'm not sure if I could learn Japanese or Chinese on my own...we'l wait and see. The "textbook" idea came to me awhile ago. I became even more inspired when I noticed that most of the books for learning a language are for beginners and low-intermediate learners. So I'm thinking of creating something for people like I am now; something to build one's vocabulary and grammar skills at a decent level. Well, it seems you've already started. wink Hehe, me too! Some places I'm just dying to go to. I want to go everywhere in Latin America and the Caribbean. (have you been to the Caribbean? It's so beautiful...I've gone 6 times.) Then I'd love to go to places in Europe, especially Spain, Italy, Poland, and the U.K. I'd also like to go to Japan and China. 4laugh Thank you! biggrin heart It's not often that a 23-year-old woman says something like that to a teen. A lot of adults think ALL of us are stupid...so thanks for giving me a chance. 3nodding P.S...Are you a member of this guild? My goal is to join it one day... http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/index.php?guild_id=304

I'm not "exploring" so much in gaia now, but I've never met another Italian yet! I was beginning to worry razz I've only been to Barcelona, Paris (stupid scholastic trips, I knew more about those places than the teacher scream )and UK (something like an homestay in England and Scotland, no one talking italian xd )...travelling costs too much crying
It happens here, too,and they also say that young people (20s) don't have brains, heart, will to find a job or to "change the world", they say we're "lazy"... stressed HOW DARE THEM?! It's not right(fair), nor for us and above all neither for you! They should encourage you, not say that... we should start saying adults are blind and pessimistic razz

Oh, I'm sorry sad ...I thought it would make you feel good about yourself. I'd love to be a grown woman whee ....so be happy. wink lol I thought you'd like this opportunity...sometimes it's hard to find certain people. It took me a long time to meet an Italian speaker, too. And here I am chatting with you! cool You've been around quite a bit! Gosh, my parents would never let me go on an international school trip. surprised Your parents must have been pretty laid back then...or is there a different way of thinking in your country? Travelling is costly...but it's worth it! That's just stupid! People in their 20s are just getting started and finding a career path! Honestly, I don't understand stereotypes. Yes I do have 3 cousins in their 20s who are pathetic scum, but I know not all are like that, for there are 2 others who are becoming successful and settling down. I agree, adults can be pessimistic. Now do you hear me saying that they are ALL pessimistic? And let me tell you, not one day goes by for me without thinking about making a difference in this twisted world... Ok...I have another Italian question. mrgreen How many verb tenses are there, and what are their names?
