*Snorts lightly at Poppy's last comment, and smiles a bit, maybe with a bit of remembered fondness*

Yes, I think I'll send him a mail. I just.... wanted to give Gilderoy and the kids a bit of time. Xenophilius was only going to be gone for the afternoon anyways, and he was the one who insisted on going.

Hm.... *Taps his fingers on the table a moment* ....oh! *Frowns* Ah.... I'm not being a very good host, am I? *Grins lightly, looking sheepishly at the ready-to-go table, but most of the guests were... well.. not here, and he'd invited Poppy to eat with them, but it might be a while and he didn't want to hold her up if she had other things she needed to be doing, and he couldn't just let her sit there and eat by herself*

Ah... would you like a tour, Madame? Er.... hopefully we can round everyone up in a bit and they'll be ready to eat. Er.. uh.. after I send a message to Xeno, he should be at the park with Roddy...

*Stands up*

.... I'm pretty sure we made extras... well yes... there were six, but he's probably put some away.... *Mumbles under his breath and trails off*

...... it's been a while since we've had guests over. *Looks sheepish again* Can I get you something to drink?
PostPosted: Wed Apr 29, 2009 11:11 am

*Smirks slightly* Something stiff, Potter.

*Watches the man with obvious interest, seeming to be measuring him up*

Oh, a tour won't be necessary. *Chuckles* Granger looked up the public record blueprints to assess how dangerous the yard would be if Lockhart went outside by himself. She was concerned Lockhart would get lost.

*Pauses, then speaks softly* Must be hard for you; I can't say I know how well you and your universe's Granger got on, but it must be hard seeing.. er.. 'copies' of your friends.

[I'll post for Gilly in a bit. He's pouting in another corner of my head right now. "Why can't I have sex with Harry? -_-" "Because he's remarried." "SO? Do you know who I AM?"]

*Stands up, thinking he could use a drink as well*

Oh..... *Pauses* .. she did? Well.... the property isn't all that dangerous. The hedges give us privacy, of course, and keep most of the animals out, but they're not magical. But there are wards put up to keep out dangerous animals and to confuse muggles. *Turns around and pushes open the smaller door, not the main ones they entered, and across the hall is the kitchen door, which are two swinging ones that look like they came from a bar in the 1900's*

I keep some alcohol in the kitchen for cooking, the rest is downstairs. *Doesn't seem to have any intention of going downstairs, meaning there was likely a good variety for cooking purposes*

*Holds the swinging doors open for Poppy, revealing a rather large, spacious kitchen that, oddly enough, has only one small, vine covered window on the left wall adjacent to the door. There was a large, long island in the middle of the room with four chairs placed on either of the longer sides, but there was still plenty of room to walk around. A few feet from the door was a large stone structure that appeared to be a fireplace, but upon entering further in the room was revealed to house an older looking black stove, equipped with a pizza oven and a large dutch oven, and was a mix of new and old with a flat metal surface for grilling, and a gas stove top with several knobs to control each feature. The walls were stone, as was the floor, and it had a rather old fashioned feel. The refrigerator was to the way left of the far wall, and was stainless steel and rather large. There didn't seem to be any other appliances, but plenty of wooden cupboards and doors with worn brass fixtures. The counter was rather long with ample room to cut and chop things on either side of a large sink, and pots hung from a metal rack attached to the ceiling to the left of the stove area, in the right corner. Dried herbs also hung down, and a spice rack was placed on the counter next to the only other obvious appliance, a six slot toaster. Between the sink and the cupboards to the right of the refrigerator and in the sink were dirty dishes that had been used to make the meal. The wall across from the door was bare, although a very large window could have easily been put there and give a fantastic view of the porch and back yard, but the kitchen wasn't dark because it was lit by recessed lighting in the tall ceiling. The only objects on the gray stone island counter was fruit in a large wooden bowl, and a gigantic worn leather book which was left open, that was Godfrey's recipe book. The kitchen overall had a rather modern medieval feel*

........ I can handle it better now, but I still don't like seeing them. *Frowns* .... it's hard to see you and not think of my Poppy. You-... others.. they're not them, and all the memories I have are just memories.

*Pauses again*

... so... er... what do you like? Whiskey? Vodka? Rum? Aah...er.... I think we have some firewhiskey in the cupboard.

((XD Long description because I WANNA. biggrin *Hugs Gilderoy* biggrin Harry and Xeno aren't married though. O_o :O XD *Drags Gilly into a room* ;D))

["Married" is easier to type than "newly life-partnered" xd heart ]

Whatever's in hands' reach, Potter. *Leans her hip into the counter against the sink, watching Harry for a few thoughtful moments before speaking*

Must be very hard for you, Potter. I lost a child when I was very young - difficult not to look at any little one with curly brown hair and not think of her. *Frowns, lost in thought for a moment*

You're a good man. I think Lockhart will benefit from spending time with you.

*Is just reaching the treehouse with his son at his side, Gilderoy holding his large pointed hat at his hip as he walks; obviously in a cheerful mood* And what of these goats you keep mentioning? What do we use them for? *Pauses, looking startled* Surely not milk?
PostPosted: Sun May 03, 2009 1:09 pm

((XD I suppose it is. :B))

*Nods, standing in front of the refrigerator, and raises his wand to unlock and open the cupboard above it, levitating out some scotch after a moment*

*Turns to look at Poppy for a moment, watching her lost in thought and frowns lightly, brows furrowed, while groping about in the cupboard to the left of the fridge for two shot glasses*

I'm sorry, Poppy. *Means sorry that she had lost a child, of course, he hadn't known about that, but somehow the more he learned about the differences between 'his' people and the ones here, the easier it was, and he wondered if it was the same for her as well, though of course it would always hurt...... he couldn't even imagine losing one of his own children*

*Pours her a few ounces first, setting it in front of her, and then pours his own glass, before stoppering the bottle and setting it aside*

...... I really do want Gilderoy to get better. *Takes a sip, still frowning lightly* I was deeply in love with him once.... we've had two wonderful children together and shared many good years..... I don't want to see him locked up forever, unable to care for himself. Though he's in good hands and company. *Raises his glass to her briefly, before tossing the rest back, having to clear his throat a bit since it was a bit stronger than his own stock downstairs*

I'll do everything I can to help him. Difficulties haven't stopped me before. *Smiles slightly*

Oh no, not milk. Not anything. *Lets go of Gilderoy's hand and heads over towards the low wooden stable that sat amongst the small, cut 'yard' surrounding his treehouse tree*

*Peeks his head inside*

They're not here. But maybe they're nearby? *Disappears into the stable entirely, and comes out about a minute later with a small bucket full of hard corn*

*Shakes the bucket, looking about the surrounding woods*

BERNARD!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Shakes it again, holding it up above his head, some of the corn jumping out and landing in his hair and around his feet*

BERNARD!!!!!!!!!!! *Whistles, high pitched*

Meeeeehhhh!

*Stops, ears twitching, and then shakes the bucket, calling again*

Meeeeehhh!!!!

*Looks to Gilderoy, smiling*

He's coming.

*Waits a few moments, and sure enough a goat with medium length hair, a mottled coat of many colours, short horns, but most prominently sporting a pompadour appears between some trees, meh-ing eagerly and trotting up to Godfrey, ignoring Gilderoy and reaching up to mouth at the boy's clothes and skin, large enough that the top of his head reached Godfrey's chest*

*Giggles, stepping back and away, and lowers the small bucket down so Bernard could stick his nose in it*

You and Dad got me Bernard for my eighth birthday. *Looks over at Gilderoy, trying to hold the bucket steady* I wanted a Jarvey, we've got them all over the woods here, but you got me Bernard instead.

*Looks up and off into the woods, hearing other, quieter mehs*

He's got about eight or nine ladies, but they're not my pets. They're wild goats he's picked up. They're alright with me most of the time, but are pretty skittish. They're not smart like Bernard is.

*Pats the goat's fluffy hair fondly*

He's the best pet ever.

((The treehouse, btw, looms like... four stories up in the air, and that's just the bottom, where the few strong branches grow out of the tree..... xD It's pretty high up, and as big as an actual ship almost. :B But the trees in these woods are lots of different sizes.))

No, I don't suppose they have. *Chuckles before tossing back her own drink, looking much more comfortable for doing so* I think I'm feeling my age after all these years. *Clucks her tongue in amusement*

So what did you come up with about sleeping arrangements? *As a woman of medicine, Poppy has lost most of her tact, bedside manner being used only at bedsides*

*Wrinkles his nose suspiciously at the barn animal, apparently less than approving of its aroma* Yes. Well. A handsome devil, isn't he? *Hides his disdain with another famous smile, patting the goat hesitantly on its shoulder blade* Just like his grandfather - utterly irresistible even to the wild woman. *Beams again, a small twitch in his fingers*

Jarveys? *Looks up, his expression elated* Spunky little things, aren't they? I once taught a colony of them to dance, you know. Held a benefit for some local orphans.
PostPosted: Mon May 04, 2009 6:16 pm

He's got hair just like Elvis!!! *Drops to his knees so he could put the bucket down and avoid getting bowled over by the eager goat, and tosses an arm around the animal's back, nuzzling his face against Bernard's fur, loving the goat-y smell of him*

*Grins at Gilderoy's comment, but then looks up at him curiously*

Really, you did? Um... when was that? *Ears twitch, obviously interested in the tale, fabricated or not*

The only thing I've taught the Jarveys here are new swears. *Grins again, running his fingers lightly through the goat's fur and scratching his back*

Well that's a good start! *Beams anyway* They like obscenities, it's a good way to establish a teacher-student relationship with them. *Completely accepting of his son throwing around curse words* Why, my Javerys wouldn't even jump for me until I'd taught them to say 'dirty c**t.' *Beams*

*Brushes a bit of grass from his jacket* Oh, many years ago. Before your father and I started a relationship. I'd just published a book on the Yeti, you see, and I needed a break from all that snow.. so I went to work with orphans in South America.

[*Cracking up*]
PostPosted: Mon May 04, 2009 6:36 pm

You don't look very old, honestly.

*Refrains from guessing an exact age, knowing that'd only get him into trouble*

*Pours himself another drink, but drops the bottle back onto the counter with a loud 'THUNK' at her question, though he had been about to pour her another glass*

Well....

*Raises the glass and takes a gulp*

Xeno moved into the guest room that adjoins the nursery. We both agreed Gilderoy and I will have to sleep in the master bedroom for a few days, so we don't bring everything down on him at once.

*Says this rather quickly, and then pauses for a long moment before deciding to continue, having somewhat of an idea that Poppy would just end up asking*

The only thing is thinking up excuses to avoid Gilderoy, aah.... well.. I suppose he'll be too angry with me tonight about having a live in therapist, that's what we've decided to call Xenophilius for now. And... er... I'm counting on the baby to maybe help me some other nights. I wouldn't go so far as to deliberately make Roderick upset..... *Though he kept a blue blanket that made Roddy absolutely scream tucked far away in the closet.... but he wouldn't use it, of course. >_>*

Er....... and I can always fake injury from Quidditch or....... what is it that women always use? *Furrows his brows, having absolutely no clue*

*Chuckles again* Headaches, mostly.
PostPosted: Mon May 04, 2009 7:02 pm

*Bursts out into giggles at his Papa's unexpected swearing, covering his mouth with his hand*

What did you do in South America? Read to them or bring them blankets? *Shifts around to sit on the grass, stretching out his legs a bit*

I want to help people after I graduate too. Did the orphans like you?

*Wiggles his foot a bit as Bernard abandons the empty bucket and attempts to eat his shoelaces, feeling rather content as he looks up at Gilderoy, looking innocently adoring, whether anything his Papa was saying was true or not*
