That certainly caught her attention. Consider the subject officially changed. Her eyes widened and her head turned around to look at him. "Are you serious?!"

Chane nodded, "Yup! They have to know right away if they're doing anything they're not supposed to. They keep you awake so you can tell them if anything is going numb, and so on. And you have no nerves in your brain, so you won't feel it anyways."

"Oh God. I never want to have brain surgery." Eyes still wide, she turned back to the screen slowly, cringing.

"It's not really as bad as you'd think," Chane looked up at the TV. "What on earth possessed you to put on an operation?"

"I just don't find the idea of someone poking around in my brain very pleasing," she shrugged. "Wait, does that mean you've had brain surgery done?" At his question, she shrugged again. "Dunno. It's certainly something I've never seen before."

"Either that or I've had ample opportunity to talk to people who have. Father loves doing tests with microchips and there's more people out there then you'd expect who are in love with the idea of becoming cyborgs."

"Really?" She frowned at that. "I don't think I'd want something in my brain. If it was necessary, sure. But I wouldn't be like 'Hay! Stick some metal bit in my head. What do the chips do?"

"Theoretically, everything from helping blind people see to give the user the exact time of day. In practise though, well they're working on it," Chane winced at a particularly gruesome segment.

She made a face at it as well. "The blind chip is great. Though.. needing to know the exact time of day? Just buy a watch."

"Don't think of it like that. Think of it as a step toward other things. The time of day is a simple thing compared to bigger more complicated projects, like making a chip you could load new information onto. How fast could you read a book if all you had to do was to load it's information onto the chip in your brain and think your way though it? What if people had access to entire libraries worth of information in their own head? It's ideas like that cyborg enthusiasts fall in love with. And many of them are willing to take the insignificant chips that tell you the time of day in hopes that the future will offer more," Chane looked over at her and smiled. "And by the way, it's seven forty-three... now."

Her eyes widened and her cheeks flushed. Whoops. Speaking before thinking again. "Maybe I'm just old fashioned," she said with a small laugh, still feeling a little silly. "And plus! If you could just load new info onto chips in kids' brains, I'd be out of a job!"

Chane's smile grew wider, "There's those who think chip implants should be done at a young age but most agree that it's too unsafe and that any implanting should wait until the potential user is in their twenties at least. Besides, no amount of technology can replace a well developed brain and plain old common sense." He took a sip of his drink. "And in case you're wondering, there's a clock on the shelf behind you."

She nodded to what he was saying about the chips, then froze at his last statement. Feeling like an idiot, she turned to look at the clock. "...Oh." Wow. Covering her red face, she laughed, swatting at the avian with a pillow. "That was so uncool, Chane."

Chane tried to block the incoming pillow but his arm swung out a bit too early and it hit him in the chest. "Ack! Not fair!" He barely managed to get the words out between bursts of laughter.
((Flirting while watching an operation on CD. How romantic!))

A wide grin crossed her face and she moved over to swat him with it again. She wasn't hitting hard, just playing. "Not fair, hey? You're the one being all Jedi mind trick on me!" Another swat.
(( ;D You know it! ))
