as if on fire24 How could you not have Stevie Ray Vaughn on the list? He can cover most of Jimi's songs :/ And do them even better than Jimi did, might I add.

Personally, I think Dimebag Darrell and Buckethead were/are a couple of the best guitarists in my opinion. I liked Dimebag's aggressive and heavy style playing and Buckethead's unique and innovative style. I have so many favorite guitarists, but none of them I'd say were the 'best'. I don't think there IS a best.

I like Dave Mustaine and John Schaffer. John Petrucci is pretty awesome.

I CHANGE MY ANSWER!
I would have to say... after all of my experiences... that the bets guitarists are Allan Holdsworth, Michael Romeo, Shawn Lane, John Petrucci, Paul Masvidal and the guys from Meshuggah.
The first 5 because it's obvious. Meshuggah guys... they're just insane. They play WITH POLYMETERS going on, yet they manage to keep a good (heavy) groove. Whether it be in 17/16, or 9/8. Their rhythm skills are BEASTLY.

Here is a fact that this should be in every guitarrist head whne you are well known in the world as one of the best guitarrist there is you should keep in mind this. There are ten more guitarrist better than you uknown and known for example the one who has the first place should know that all im saying is that you have to try even harder to achieve that goal
