An Unusual Purchase

Oh, it was such a nice day! Bai-Shén plopped down on the bench just outside of her shop, resting her head back to lend her face to the sun. Ah, the weather hadn't been like this since spring! Probably global warming, Bai-Shén reflected. Oh well!

Keeta was wandering the streets, pushing Joel ahead of her in the stroller. The walk was doing her good, helping clear her mind of the various complications she was dealing with lately. Plus, she hadn't been window shopping in a long time and it felt good to imagine spending her money on some of these things, even though most of them, she knew she couldn't afford.

Rounding a corner, she spotted a shop with paintings hanging in the window, including several she recognized. Intrigued and always interested in good art, she headed for the entrance to the shop, nodding politely to the woman that sat outside.

Bai-Shén waved and kicked her feet happily before following after the woman, skipping slightly.

"Hi~!" she chirped, in an even better mood than usual. Maybe she'd sell one of the orphan spirits!

"Hello," Keeta said turning to look behind her as the woman followed her into the store.

"Oh, do you work here?" she asked, not having realized that was why the purple-haired woman was sitting outside.

"You have a lovely selection here, although I don't know that I could afford any of them...." she added a little sheepishly. Artwork could be so expensive. Joel was unusually quiet as he swept the room with his gaze, his three eyes glancing at the various pieces of artwork displayed.

Bai-Shén shook her head and giggled slightly.

"Oh, no, our prices are the lowest in Gaia! Granted, I'm not sure how many other shops produce reproductions..."

"How low is your average price?" she asked tentatively, still thinking it would be out of her reach. She could probably manage to spend 200g on a painting, but no more. With situations like they were, she was having to make sure she minded a tighter budget than previously.

"Well, 100 for the large ones," Bai-Shén said, pressing a finger to her lower lip, "One of the little ones, though, could go for as low as 10!" Whereas any other shop would charge a good few thousand. Hrm!

"Seriously?" Keeta asked, clearly surprised. At those prices she could almost afford two...better mind the budget and stick to one painting though.

"Well...thank you. I'm cetainly going to take my time and find a piece I can truly enjoy. " She glanced around looking for a nice piece that could work in the entry. It was a blank space that had been nagging at her for a while now.

For several minutes, Keeta browsed through the selection, stopping here and there to examine a painting, but nothing felt "right."

After a while, Joel started to become fussy too. As much as he enjoyed looking at things, he preferred watching things that moved. And he wanted to move too! Now that he was crawling, he wanted to experience this world!

"Yes Joel, I know this isn't your thing. Sorry honey, just give mommy a couple more minutes," Keeta said soothingly to the boy, trying to get him to quiet down a bit.

"How about...one of these?" Bai-Shén asked, approaching the back wall and gesturing to a row of smaller paintings. They were brightly-colored and beautiful, mostly nature-based. She had simply made an assumption from looking at the painting and sculptures the woman had passed over.

At the voice of the purple-haired woman, Keeta looked up from her hunched over position, of trying to soothe her son. She smiled apologetically for Joel's whimpering and glanced at the paintings the woman indicated. They were certainly more her taste. Even a few of what appeared to be Monet's...

"Hmmmm...." she said thoughtfully, rising from her crouch. Heading closer, she indicated one with a close-up view of waterlilly pads and a few flowers.

"Is that a Monet?" Keeta asked, daring to hope. She had always admired his artwork, but she had never dreamed of being the owner of anything more than a cheap print. No she knew she would never own any originals, but she had never thought even a reproduction would be within her range, let alone one of such a high quality, at such a low price.

Bai-Shén nodded and spoke softly, as if something nearby was begging her respect.

"Yes, indeed it is," she smiled, "I mean...it's a Monet by me, but nobody'll be able to tell. At least I can hope not." Oh, she even tried so hard to match the make of the paints used!

"You made this?" Keeta asked, glancing away at the painting, to the woman, for confirmation.

"It's wonderful," she said, gently touching the edge of the frame. "And I think the only way people would be able to tell it's not an original would be that they know I would never be able to afford one." She continued with a smirk, glancing back at the painting.

The colors were so calming and peaceful and do was the subject of the painting as well. It was simple...not like many of the others she had been looking at and was "by" one of her favorite artists. If the price really was only 100 gold...

"I'll take it," Keeta said matter-of-factly, glancing at her.

"Great!" Bai-Shén chirped, plucking the painting gingerly from the wall and bringing it to the front desk where she began to wrap it up.

"50 gold, please!"

"50?!" Keeta gaped. "Not that I'm complaining, but I thought you said 100. You did such wonderful work....I should pay you what it's worth...." In the back of her mind Keeta's sensible side was also screaming that this was too good to be true and wondering what the catch was. There had to be one...

Well...perhaps a catch, yes...but certainly Keeta had come by her son in an alike way!

"Well, you may pay whatever you'd like," the Kirin girl said with a soft smile. She certainly didn't want the woman to leave without buying!

"Hmmm...." Keeta thought about it, and after a moment dug 75g out of her purse and laid it on the counter, looking at the purple-haired woman to see whether this would be acceptable.

It never occurred to her that the catch would be a child. Joel hadn't come on purpose either, but he was Keeta's biologically, so there was less surprise where he was concerned. Despite having lived in Gaia for several years now, she had forgotten some of the peculiur things that could happen here. Evin wasn't nearly as complicated.

The kirin girl gladly took the 75 and handed over the painting.

"You have a nice day, now!"

Keeta nodded slowly and took the painting from her, before returning to Joel and starting to head out the door.

"You too..." she said in response, wondering if she had just unknowingly opened a can of worms.

User ImageDiary,

I picked up a painting today. Well...a reproduction actually. It's one of Claude Monet's waterlillies. I've always admired his work.

Perhaps now that Kael's gone I shouldn't be spending my money so friviously. You would not believe how cheap it was though! It's high quality work and I only paid 75g! My sensible side keeps nagging at me, wondering if there is a catch of some kind, but she let me leave the store, no strings attached. What kind of catch could possibly come along with a painting?

I was thinking about hanging it in the hall by the front door, but it seems to make Joel nervous for some reason. He gets fussy whenever he's near it for too long and I can't figure out why, so I think I'll hang it in my bedroom. It'll probably be a couple days before I get to it though. I think I'll leave it in the hall closet until I'm ready to hang it.

Until later,
Keeta

P.S. Joel stood alone for the first time today. Maybe the'll start walking soon! o.o I just hope I can keep up with him when he does!

Surprise Concert

Rhine rubbed the back of his neck. He couldn't believe how busy it had been. It wasn't a holiday or any other day to celebrate that he could think of. But, still it was wave after wave. And, the groups were never small. He was glad to lock the doors (an hour after closing), and pull the curtains shut.

Cassara was already upstairs no doubt with Kaida. And, Rhine was still to wound up to go up stairs and do... well nothing. He sighed and stretched the length of himself. He really wasn't up to going out and painting the time. If he wanted to do that he could do it with Keeta.

There was one way Rhine knew best to relax. He carefully climbed the stairs of the stage, there were not many. In the back he found his violin next to his sisters. He ran his fingers along the case. "It's been a while..." He whispered.

It had only been a few weeks since Rhine and Keeta had become 'official' and could stop trying to hide their affection for one another, but it had been some of the happiest weeks Keeta could remember.

She and Rhine had had no particular plans that evening, as they both had had to work, but Tess told Keeta she could go home early, as it had been slow. Looking at her watch, she knew Annata wouldn't be expecting her to pick up Joel for another several hours, and she decided to surprise Rhine. Pulling out the mirror from her purse, she used it to transport herself to the restaurant.

It was pitch black inside, as the cafe was closed and she fumbled around for the light. Turning it on, she checked her appearance in the glass and put away her own little mirror, before exiting the room, turning off the light behind her. She was about to head upstairs, figuring Rhine had already gone up, when she thought she saw a lone figure on the stage.

Rhine sat a stool out in the middle of the stage, and sat himself down. He made himself as comfortable as possible. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. This never came naturally to him... It had not only taken his mothers teaching to get him taught but his sisters.

He positioned the violin and the bow and began to play. It was no particular song. It was simply just the notes that came to mind. His bow flowed like water as he played. The rest of his body even seemed just as in to.

Recognizing her lover, Keeta remained at the base of the stairs and leaned against the railing, unwilling to disturb him. He told her the night they first were together that he played the violin, but she had never heard him before tonight and she did not want to give him any reason to stop.

The music that came from the stage was beautiful and honest. Rhine was playing his heart out and Keeta knew it. She couldn't help picturing how her son would be enjoying this as much as she was if he were here.

Rhine slowly tapered the song out and with one final stroke of the bow let the song come to a end. He breathed heavily as he slowly opened his eyes. As tired as he was from the day, and tiring as it was to play he felt exhilarated. He really would have to play more often than he had recently. He grabbed the violin case, and busied himself with putting his things away. He finally felt relaxed enough to face the 'cramped' upstairs.

"That was beautiful Rhine," Keeta said, stepping from the shadows as Rhine started to put the violin away.

"Why have you never played for me before?" She stepped up on the stage, making her way towards him.

"It really wasn't anything special," Rhine said nervously. He shut the case and ruffled his hair. He looked like a rabbit caught by a fox- good and back into the corner. "I don't play much to begin with and even less since my divorce," he said as he smiled timidly.

"Well I certainly couldn't manage anything more than a few screeches on an instrument like that. You make music and it's music that comes from here," she said, placing a hand over his heart as she reached him.

"I can assure you it is my sisters who are enchanting and not I." Rhine chuckled as he took hold of her hand and brought it to his face. He kissed it gently. "I will play for you. I just get nervous around others that aren't my siblings..." He looked her in the eyes.

She smiled as he kissed her hand, returing his gaze.

"Well I won't ask you to do it, if it makes you uncomfortable. I was actually about to go look for you upstairs. I got off work early and thought I'd use my time while Annata is babysitting, to come surprise you. I guess it ended up being a different kind of surprise than I had planned."

Rhine chuckled and pulled her to sit in his lap. "It is a very pleasant surprise." He ran his fingers through her hair and admired how she glowed when she was happy. "I'm afraid to say that you won't want to go upstairs-," he chuckled, "-bit cramped up there..."

She sighed contentedly and leaned against him as he ran his fingers through her hair. It was so nice just to sit with him like this. At his last statement, however, she sat up and looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Cramped? How's that?"

"Well, the space was fairly adequate to put it nicely. But, since we've packed up our things it is miserable." Rhine sighed. "Both upstairs and down."

"The cafe is getting more and more popular. A medium sized building just isn't going to cut it. And, upstairs well-," he sighed, "between myself, Cassara, Kaida, yourself, and Joel... Well, frankly, there just isn't enough room anymore. And, we prefer to live where we work. So I guess all around we just need more space."

"Packed up your things? Wait you're moving and you didn't tell me 'til now?!? And who in the name of Mother Earth is Kaida?"

Rhine gave a nervous look for a moment and then smile reassuringly. "First things first-," he said knowing the wrath of a woman was one thing he didn't want to face. "Kaida is Cassara's mate. She's come back to her after several years..." He took a breath hoping that helped clear the air between them that was getting thick with tension. "Secondly, I was already in the process of looking for a new property, and getting my self packed when Kaida showed up. I wanted to surprise you with the option of living with us. But, well it just isn't working out that way..."

"Oh...." Keeta looked down, feeling a little foolish at how quickly she had reacted to his words. She should have known better and waited for an explanation before she got herself worked up.

"I'm sorry Rhine, I shouldn't have reacted that way. It's sweet that you wanted to surprise me. But maybe flowers or something would have been more appropriate," she said kindly.

"After all, I would have been quite worried if I had shown up here one day to find no trace of you. Maybe I can help you look for some place? As for living with you...." she trailed off, trying to find the words to express what she was thinking and feeling.

"It's not that I don't love you. It's just that I don't think I'm emotionally ready for that yet. But I will be at some point, if you just give me time." Keeta looked up, smiling at him to reassure him of how she felt.

Rhine leaned back in the chair and held Keeta for a time. The smile didn't leave his face at any time... It had no reason to. "I never expected you to move in. It was just the fact of having the space so that when I made the offer and you were ready we weren't scrambling. Its not easy to move a business and a home." He finally said.

"I do not question your love. I never will." Rhine looked into Keeta's eyes as he once more ran his fingers through her hair. "About the flowers and things... Trust me, in time you'll be more spoiled than a floofy foo-foo dog." He chuckled.

"Floofy foo-foo dog?" Keeta said raising an eyebrow and giving him a playful shove and then a hug.

"I appreciate you trying to think ahead."

Rhine gave Keeta one of those looks that was playfully fun and nothing more, but it still said I'm going to get you. He hugged her tight and enjoyed her warmth. "My mothers little family is in such an uproar lately," he finally said after a moments chuckle.

"Did I cause that?" she asked, half joking, but honestly curious if it was true. She supposed their relationship must be considered a bit scandalous.

"We're part of it. But, you know that saying things come in threes..." Rhine said as he caressed her face. "Cassara's mate Kaida is back. Cassara immediately sprung a proposal. And, not that it is as exciting as bliss and sex but Aurora Dawn is helping run a night club." He thought for a moment. "Guess that's four things..."

"Well only if you count the two things involving Kaida and Cass separately," she said with a smirk, tapping him on the nose.

"Aurora Dawn is helping run a night club huh? How did she get involved in that?"

"My mother fronted the money. The stipulation was that Aurora Dawn be employed. Frankly, I'm glade because it will get her out of the strip joints." He sighed despite his mates playful actions. "We generally tell our mother everything but that is one thing we've sworn secrecy about..."

"I don't blame you. I think Ceres would have a heart attack if she knew that. She has enough on her plate right now as it is..."

Rhine nodded. "Natalia grows stronger and they grow weaker." He sighed softly. It still pained him. He knew there was a while to go... Still, it was the fact of knowing. "But, I do not wish any longer of a life on them." He smiled as a tear slid down his cheek.

Keeta kissed him on the forehead and then leaned her head against his, wrapping her arms around him tighter. Her eyes were also glistening at the thought.

"I know it can't be as painful for me as it is for you, but understand that I do know some of what you're going through. It's hard for me to know that as well." She offered him a sad smile and wiped away the tear from his cheek.

"You know we need to do something," Rhine said suddenly as he abandon the previous conversation that had led to his mother. He didn't know what it was he wanted to do... But, anything was better than sitting around and being sad. "Are you hungry?"

No, she wasn't really hungry, but she could see that this would be something to help Rhine feel better for the moment.

"Sure, I didn't have much before I went to work," she said, getting up from his lap.

"If you have a better suggestion just speak up," Rhine said with a smile as he walked back stage to put his violin away. It didn't take him but seconds before he had her hand in his and was leading the way upstairs. "At least this apartment I won't have to scrub before I sell..."

"Oh?" Keeta asked curiously. "You don't want to leave it clean for the new owners?"

"This place with be a piece of cake to clean," Rhine chuckled. "The last place was hell with blood all over the walls, floors, and furniture... It was a task I did alone," he sad solemnly.

"Oh...."Keeta said, falling silent at that revelation. She knew some bad things had happened to members of this family in the past, and she suspected that the blood in the apartment had something to do with one of them. It was not a matter she would pursue, however, as the memory clearly bothered him. Keeta would deal with it only if and when Rhine chose to tell her about it.

"Sometime I'll tell you about it... Just not now. Cassara is still sensitive to it," he said as he opened the door for Keeta. "Ladies first." He quickly kissed her on the cheek. "What will it be?"

At the clue that the incident had to do with Cass, Keeta wondered if it was related to what Ceres had mentioned to excuse her behavior the first time she had met the strong-willed young woman. She pressed her lips together as she thought, realizing after a moment that Rhine had continued to speak to her. Shaking her head to bring herself back to the present, Keeta gave him a smile and entered the room.

"Oh...I don't know. Surprise me," she said, not in the mood for anything in particular.

"I have some whip cream, hot fudge, and strawberries..." Rhine said as he closed the door behind Keeta and gave her a good look over. He grinned a little goofier than normal. Something told him that she wasn't really that hungry and was just going along with it since it was what he suggested.

Keeta raised an eyebrow.

"I thought you said it was cramped in here and there was more company than usual."

"The kitchen table isn't packed. And, trust me for that dessert we won't need plates..." He said with a small purr as he wrapped his arms around her. "And, besides the 'dessert' will help conserve space we don't have." He chuckled a caressed her shoulder. He was purposely being playful to get a rise out of her that wasn't automated.

Keeta wanted to respond to his touch, but she wasn't much interested in the possibility of having Cass or Kaida walk in on them.

"The kitchen table isn't exactly private though...." she pointed out, giving him a look.

"My beds not packed," he chuckled. "And, I can almost positively assure you that they are either in their room or in the bathroom... If not out. Kaida is still adjusting to anything but night." He slowly placed several kisses along her neck. He was having a time just enjoying her, and teasing her.

And she was starting to enjoy playing hard-to-get just as much.

"And if she's having difficulty adjusting, then they could come home, or leave the room at any time...."

"Adjusting to the day light love. Kaida's much like Cassara in me except she got bit by a vampire." He began to nibble between the junction of neck and shoulder. "If you prefer I can take you to the island. I know of places that I can assure you that we won't be disturbed by anything remotely human."

Her resolve was starting to wear down at his attentions, but she wasn't going to 'give up' that easily, despite how much she wanted to just turn around and give him her own variety of attentions.

"And we would lose all track of time and I would be late picking up Joel..." Keeta knew her excuses were holding less water as time went on.

"We go and get Joel and drop him off with my mother... Then we politely tell her we are going for a moonlit stroll," he said as he continued to nibble. He hands slowly began to wonder.

"And she would see right through that..."

Rhine cleared his throat and looked Keeta in the eyes. "If you would like we can go and get Joel and bring him here. I bought a crib and a play pin the other day knowing that you would be around more." He smiled and caressed her cheek.

Keeta look at him in surprise.

"You....you didn't need to do that Rhine....I mean I have things I could have brought over."

"Keeta they are things you need for your home. There is no sense every time you come over packing up a diaper bag, toys, food, plus bedding just for a visit even if it isn't an extended one." He smiled. "So, with the exclusion of diapers becuase I didn't know what size everything's here... Somewhere..." he chuckled and ran his fingers through his hair. He hoped she would be happy.

"You're always thinking of things one step ahead," she said with a grateful smile. "Thank you Rhine."

"I love you," Rhine smiled and hugged Keeta tight. "And, anything you need I will provide becuase I want to. I am your mate." His kisses were a little less leading now.

"I love you too," she said, before returning the gentle kisses. "You sure you don't want to come over to my place so we don't disturb Cass and her mate? I could show you the painting I bought the other day. It's a Monet reproduction."

Rhine thought for a moment as he looked in the dirrection of Cassara's and Kaida's quarters. "Sure... But only for that painting." He teased. His grin told her that he was only picking. He really did like the idea of going to her place... It would be a lot less cramped.

Keeta stuck her tongue out at him, before digging in her purse for the mirror.

"Expect us to be squished a bit when we land in the bathroom," she said, grinning in apology for the size of the space.

"I bet I've landed in worse," Rhine chuckled. "... The armoire comes to mind." He took her hand. "You know once we get a good look at that panting we should go dancing- you know at my sisters club."

"Tonight?" she asked, glancing up at him from the mirror that she had successfully retrieved.

"I don't know if we have time to go dancing tonight since I have to pick up Joel in a couple hours. Maybe later this week?" she asked, hoping he wouldn't be too disappointed.

"Later this week it is then and I'll hold you to it." Rhine chuckled as he noticed she finally had her mirror. "You really should get a smaller purse or at least organize it..."

Keeta stuck her tongue out at him again and smacked him playfully, before grabbing his arm and taking them through the mirror.

Rhine found himself standing in the shower of her bathroom. "You know Keeta if you thought I needed one all you had to do was tell me," he chuckled as he pulled open the curtain. He was unshaken. It was as if he'd done it a thousand times.

Keeta chuckled, rolling her eyes, before taking his arm and pulling him into the hallway.

The Accident

Keeta grunted slightly as she pulled the reproduction from the hall closet. It was heavier than she remembered it, but it still looked in decent shape for having sat there for more than a month. The blue-haired half-elf had been spending time with Rhine and working extra shifts lately to make up for the difference in income she had experienced when Kael left and had not had a chance to hang it before now.

She leaned the frame against the wall in the hallway, just outside her bedroom, taking care to make sure the frame was sitting evenly against the wall. No sense in damaging the painting by being careless! With a nod of satisfaction that the painting was safe for the moment, Keeta knelt down by the tool box she had brought in from the garage, digging through it for the hammer. After a moment, Keeta frowned. The hammer was clearly not in the box, which means it still had to be in the garage somewhere...she hoped.

With a sigh of frustration Keeta threw the other tools she had pulled out back into the box with a metalic clang. She got up and headed for the garage to look for the hammer, pausing a moment in the living room, where Joel sat. He was currently occupied watching a Baby Einstein film and using a box of fat crayons. Keeta had purchased them for him just the other day and he seemed to enjoy making colors on the paper, even if he didn't have the motor control or expression skills to really draw a picture yet.

"Hey big man," she said with a smile, coming up behind him and running a hand through his baby-fine hair. The toddler smiled back up at her, before returning to his movie, crayons and paper.

Glancing down the hallway towards the painting and back to Joel, she wondered if it was safe to leave the painting where it was, unattended, while she went to look for the hammer. The small boy seemed occupied enough, however and after watching him for another minute, she headed to the garage to search for the hammer that was MIA.

Joel continued as he was for several minutes, enjoying the pictures and music on the screen and from time to time making marks on the paper. He had always enjoyed the pretty sounds of "moo-sik" but was starting to find he liked colors too!

Suddenly the movie ended and the music stopped. He didn't want the music to stop! He began to fuss and cry, still finding that the easiest way to express himself, but when his mommy didn't appear right away he was confused. He stopped crying and awkwardly got to his feet, as this new walking thing was still relatively new to him. Once he was steady, he began heading towards his mommy's room. If she wasn't going to come to him, then he could go to her.

On his way though, he noticed something that wasn't normally in the hallway. It was that big picture his mommy had bought. For some reason it scared him, but when he looked at this time, he noticed it had pretty colors. Maybe his mommy liked pretty colors? Maybe he could give it even more pretty colors and make mommy like it more!

Forgetting about the movie and grinning to himself, he toddled back to the living room and retrieved his box of crayons. He pulled out the colors and put one in each hand, before starting to go bax and forth over the canvas with the wax colors. As the minutes passed, he succeeded in using almost every color in the box. Mommy would be so happy!

About 15 minutes later, Keeta came back through the door to the garage, the hammer in her hand and a frustrated expression on her face. How had the hammer ended up with the Christmas ornaments? Shaking her head, she glanced towards the living room, and noticed that Joel was not where she had left him. Instantly on edge, she called out his name.

"Joel?!" A faint giggle was her response and with a sigh of relief, she headed towards the sound. She put a smile on her face and started speaking to him in that almost baby voice that mothers reserve for their children, as she headed towards the hallway.

"What are you doing down there sil-" Her words and her forward movement stopped abruptly as she saw what Joel was doing.

"Joel! No!" she scolded when her voice came back, and she hurried forward, removing the crayons from his hands, as she stood back to look at the ruined painting.

Joel, not used to being set upon so suddenly, sat in silent, motionless shock for a moment, before crying out of fear and confusion. Mommy was supposed to like his colors! He didn't like it when mommy yelled at him.

Sighing, and wishing she hadn't acted so quickly, Keeta bent down and picked up the toddler. She held him close and tried to soothe him, rocking back and forth, and speaking in calm, low tones.

"Shhhhh....Mommy's sorry. Mommy's sorry...." she murmured before gently kissing his head. Her eyes traveled once more to the ruined painting as she calmed her frightened son. With a sigh, she came to the conclusion that there was nothing she could do to fix it. She had little idea of how to get crayon out of oil paint, or how to go about repairing a painting in general. Maybe the lady she bought it from could help her? Nodding to herself, she decided that she would take it back the the next chance she got. Until then, it would go back in the closet.

User ImageSo things are looking up! It's been a crazy couple of weeks. Sorry, I feel like I've been neglecting you, especially since I've had things to write.

A couple weeks ago Rhine showed up unexpectedly and took me on this crazy secret trip to this little island right next to Cere's big island. Long story short, he proposed! Of course I said yes, and as would be expected, Ceres and family are all excited and ready to be involved. I'm overjoyed that he asked me! I'd be crazy not to be as Rhine has never done anything but treat me well, but I still feel a little guilty after what happened between me and Kael. But what's done is done. I can't change what happened and either way he's gone now, without a trace. I haven't heard from him ever since he disappeared after we broke up. And I suppose I shouldn't feel bad, as the man I got engaged to then was not that man I loved. The man that left the first time never returned at all.

I'm trying to put these feelings behind me and I hope I am rid of them before I'm at the altar, because I can't marry Rhine and give him all myself if I'm still fretting over that. Fortunately there's no date yet, so I'm free to work through my feelings at my own pace. Perhaps I should go see Luna. I know she's a maternity clinic counclier, but still.....she might be willing to help me out and I'm getting used to the way she talks more....

I digress. Joel is my other news. He's been growing by leaps and bounds! He started walking shortly after Rhine proposed. I knew it would be soon because he's been starting to stand up by himself using other things to support him as he scooted along, and he's been a strong crawler for a while now. He decided to surprise me with his newfound ability by walking up behind me when I was doing my hair in the bathroom. He tripped a little and grabbed onto me, nearly scaring me to death. But my fear disappeared immediately as soon as I saw the satisifed grin on his little face.

I've had a hard time keeping up with him ever since, making sure the house is "toddler proof" etc. Unfortunately I underestimated his manuverability and left the Monet reproduction in the hallway while I went to look for a hammer. He managed to color all over it and unless that lady at the shop is very good at getting wax off of oil paint (is that even possible?) it looked like I've got a ruined painting on my hands. It'll probably be a while before I can get over there again, but either way, the painting is back in the closet and Joel is safely asleep and quiet for the moment.

Hehe, he's been noisier lately as he's starting to talk too! He learned to say mama last week and I've been practicing words with him ever since. He's picked up a few more words, but we've got a long way to go before he'll be saying more than one word at a time. I just hope "no" holds off for a while, but I'm not sure I'll be so lucky.

The Puddle

Sniff....Sniiiiiiifffff.....

Joel turned away from the ball chute toy he had been playing with, at noticing a strange smell. He smiled. It smelled like flowers. Maybe it was mommy? Mommy sometimes smelled like flowers. Joel turned his head toward the kitchen, where Keeta was busy getting out things for dinner. He got up a little unsteadily, before toddling over to her, to see if she was the source of the pretty smell.

Keeta smiled as he approached, putting down the cookbook she had been glancing through.

"Hey little man!" she said, ruffling his fine blue hair, as the toddler clung to her pant leg. "You ok?"

She didn't receive an answer as the boy started wandering off again, discovering that his mother was not the source of the smell. Keeta shrugged, returning to the recipe, not really thinking anything of what he was doing. Sometimes he would come up to her like that for a small bit of reassurance before he continued on with his day.

Joel started following the smell across the living room. It seemed strongest around the hall closet and on the floor, there was a small puddle of water, leaking out from under the door. The boy accidentally stepped into, and his footy pajamas immediately became soaked. Wet clothes were not comfortable clothes and he started to fuss a bit, but was too intrigued to turn away yet. As he stood there though, he started to hear noises from behind the door. Quiet voices...water...and....someone moving. The closet had never made noise before and this was too much for Joel, who was still not happy about having wet feet.

"Ma-ma!" he wailed across the house. He was scared and confused and wanted to be rescued.

Keeta sighed. Now what..... She closed the refrigerator door, having been just about to locate the ground beef she had purchased earlier in the day. Well...dinner would just have to wait a few more minutes. She hurried a little, because Joel didn't nomally call her from across the house like that, but what could be wrong inside her own house? She found him by the closet, staring wide-eyed at the door.

"What is it Joel?" she asked, trying to keep the exhaspiration out of her voice, when she didn't immediately see anything wrong. Keeta stood at the wrong angle to be able to see the puddle on the floor.

"Wa-der" he said quietly, pointing at wetness. Then he backed up to cling to her leg with more purpose than before.

Following Joel's finger to the puddle of water, Keeta frowned. Great...a water leak. It must be coming from the water heater in the garage... she thought with frustration. Inwardly she groaned as she reached for the knob, wondering what all had been damaged in there.

The painting!

She was so preoccupied with the possible damage, that she failed to notice the slight rustling sound coming from within, or the fact that a puddle of water shouldn't have been enough to startle Joel into calling her over.

To her surprise, when she opened the door, she didn't see a ruined painting. She didn't see a painting at all, just the empty frame. What she did find, however, was a little girl. Keeta could only stand and stare for a long moment, processing and trying to come up with an explanation of what she now saw in her closet.

She was seated, and as wet as the floor she was sitting on. She was rather small and Keeta guessed she couldn't be too much older than Joel. The clothes she wore were of a different time or place, Keeta was sure, as no one in Gaia dressed in this manner. It was a little blue dress and a wide-brimmed, floppy straw hat, with a ribbon 'round it. Her skin was a pale green color, her long tendrils of hair having a darker shade of the same color. Interwoven in the strands were delicate white flowers, almost as if she were a fairy or nymph from fairy tales. They reminded her somewhat of the flowers that had been in the now non-existant painting. The girl's eyes, however were a beautiful sky blue and they looked up at her now with curiosity, confusion, and...was that a little bit of...fear?

Keeta assessed her expression and realized she was probably looking frightened or intmidating, herself. She tried to relax her face and take a deep breath before speaking to the child. Joel peeked out from behind one of Keeta's legs, which he had been clinging to ever since the door was opened. He wasn't quite sure what was going on. And for that matter, neither was Keeta.

"Hello there," she said as gently as she could manage with her confusion, making a consious effort not to step closer yet, lest she frighten the child further. Keeta smiled, hoping it was as kind a smile as she pictured.

"I'm Keeta and this is Joel," she continued, indicating her son, by placing her hand on his head. The green-skinned child remained relatively quiet and still, her eyes wide.

"What's your name?" Keeta pressed when an answer didn't come on it's own. The girl just shook her head in small movements and kept looking at Keeta.

"You don't have a name?"

Head shake.

"Oh...." Keeta wasn't quite sure what to say to that. "Well I'm sure we can come up with something that you'll like...." She stood there akwardly, trying to think of something else to say to this child that had somehow appeared in her closet.

"Can you tell me where you came from?"

Shrug. "Picture?" she said, as if she wasn't sure if that was right.

Well....seeing as the painting was no longer there...and the child did seem to carry some characteristics of the painting that had disappered, it didn't seem like a completely unreasonable idea. Stranger things had happened in Gaia. Keeta resolved that as soon as was possible, however, the three of them would make a trip back to the store where she had purchased the painting, and get to the bottom of this. In the mean time...

Keeta smiled and reached out a hand, crouching down to the child's level, offering to help her up. The girl, after hesitating a moment took Keeta's hand and stood up.

Joel watched her carefully, still clinging to his momma's leg. He wasn't at all sure about this new child. He had never done well around other children, and this would be no exception, seeing as the girl would be competing for Keeta's attention. Keeta laid her other hand on his head in reassurance, before leading both of them away from the puddle of water.

At the very least, she needed to start out by getting the girl in some dry clothes. She only hoped she, having old-fashioned clothing, wouldn't object to pants. There were a few sets of clothing that Joel had yet to grow into, that she hoped could pass for uni-sex until she could get something better. As they walked, a thought occured to her and she glanced down at the child. Monet had been very fond of his wife, Camille, and she thought perhaps the old-fashioned name would suit the child. It was still a beautiful name, old-fashioned or not, by Keeta's reckoning.

"How would you feel about it, if I called you Camille?" she asked, speaking as gently as possible, ready to think of another alternative, should the name prove unfavorable. The child thought about it a moment, before looking back at Keeta and smiling.

"Camille. It a pretty name," she said nodding.

"Camille it is then," Keeta responded with a smile, glad she had found a pleasing name.

"Come on, let's get you cleaned up, and get to know each other, ok?" With a gentle hand, Keeta led them both down the hallway, hoping that this new adventure would be something she could handle. Wait until Rhine and Ceres heard about this...

User ImageUhhhh....so Diary, you're never going to belive this. I'm still not quite sure I believe it myself. You know the painting? The Monet reproduction I bought quite a qhile back? Well I never got around to hanging it (not to mention Joel scribbled on it, but that's another story), and it's been sitting in the hall closet almost as long as I've had it.

Joel called to me across the house earlier (he's talking and walking a lot more lately!) and showed me a puddle of water that had mysteriously appreared on the floor. Of course I freaked out and opened the door, worried that the painting had been damaged (further), but I didn't find the painting. A LITTLE GIRL WAS SITTING IN MY CLOSET INSTEAD!! All my aching brain can deduce is that she somehow came from the painting...but how and why....are beyond me.

She's green all over as best I can tell. Even her hair is green, although it seems to have white flowers growing (?) in it... Hmm...I wonder what that will be like if I need to cut it? Anyways, for the moment at least, I'm calling her Camille. It was Monet's wife's name so I thought it would be fitting as she doesn't appear to have come with a name of her own. As soon as I can, I plan on dragging her and Joel back to the shop where I bought the painting and demanding an explanation from the shopkeeper. No wonder I got it so inexpensively! I'll bet she knew the whole time! Not that I don't like Camille, she's sweet (and very quiet...), it's just an inconvient and confusing time for me, what with Joel just starting to walk and talk, and me getting engaged (again) a few weeks ago.....which reminds me.

Rhine.

How am I going to tell Rhine?

I mean he said he would accept all of my children but I don't think he was accounting for the possibility of me spontainiously obtaining another. These things generally come with quite a few months of warning attached. It's going to be rather akward to see him and say "Oh by the way honey, the other night while I was making dinner a little green toddler appeared in my closet!"

I really don't think that will go over terifically. And...am I supposed to keep her? I mean like I said she seems to be quiet and sweet, but I don't know if I'm really ready to be a mother of one, let alone two. And Joel has never really gotten along well with other children. Of course he can learn but....ugh....my brain hurts. I'm going to go to bed and see if sleep can sort some of this out, but I'm not counting on it. Wish me luck...

Plans and Introductions

Keeta rushed around tidying the house. Not that it was filthy, but the subconcious part of her brain was wanting this to go as smoothly as possible. This somehow, in her thinking, included the removal of anything that might tip Rhine off to Camille's presence before she was ready to introduce him to the little girl.

A great deal of this was for Camille's sake as much as Rhine's. The little girl had proven to be quite introverted and while it was clear that she could speak, and speak rather well, she chose to remain silent for the most part, just watching. If something frightened her or made her nervous, she would even hide behind Keeta, whom she had already begun to see as her parental figure and guardian. Keeta wasn't too sure how she felt about this, as the idea of being a parent of two made her nervous and she hadn't had the chance to go back to the shop yet and discuss her options with the owner. Not that she just wanted to rid the house of Camille, she just didn't want to let the little girl down if she wasn't ready for the resposibility. Camille deserved better.

And with a sigh, Keeta remembered one more thing. She had also promised Ceres that she would look after Natalia when she was gone. That made Keeta the potential mother of three...and it was a frightening prospect.

Keeta glanced into the livingroom, where Camille and Joel were watching a Blue's Clues cartoon on the television. Keeta didn't quite understand the appeal, but the children seemed to enjoy it, so she didn't mind. Joel was adjusting surprisingly well to having Camille around all the time. No he didn't get along with her to where he wanted to share his things, or play with her, but he was starting to tolerate Keeta giving Camille equal amount of attention.

Frowning, she pulled herself away and continued to clean, glancing at the clock...soon she would put them down for a nap (Camille was currently sleeping in the middle of Keeta's bed at bedtime), and wait for Rhine to arrive.

Rhine's hair was still dripping wet at the ends from his quick shower. The heat of the summer made him feel as if he didn't belong in his own skin because it tightened around him as all the moisture was sucked out of him. He had long ago gotten over the complaints he had about his body...

He couldn't place the reason but he felt unnerved as he reached up to knock on Keeta's door... He was trying to be 'formal' and not arrive in her bathroom for once. He tightened his grip on the rolled up plans for the new cafe that had just finished completion- soon they would be moving into the three story building. He was worried that the love of his life wouldn't like how it had turned out though he had tried his best to make sure both couples had their needed privacy by adding another floor all together to the business/home
.

"Brother," Natalia said curiously as she felt her brothers tension that she didn't understand... Despite how much she was around all her siblings she felt that she might not ever figure any of them off. She gave her brothers hand a good squeeze as she waited just as impatiently as him for Keeta to open the door... She enjoyed her visits with the lady that was both her aunt and her sister.

Keeta had finally finished cleaning and seemed satisfied at her inspection of the house. For all intents and purposes it looked normal, but clean. As soon as she had finished, she had taken Joel and Camille to their respective rooms for their naps. She had taken Camille first, because she never fought against anything reasonable, and it was of more importance that she disappear first. Joel, however, was another story. Despite the fact that he was cranky and clearly tired, he wasn't going to go down without a fight. She finally just decided to leave him and let himself just cry himself to sleep, if she stayed it would just make it worse.

She had only just left the room when there was a knock on the door. She blinked, confused, wondering if someone else had decided to drop by, because it wasn't Rhine's normal way to come in the front door. The surprise was evident on her face as she opened the door, and Joel's cries could easily be heard through the opening. After the initial groan of frustration at Joel, she stepped forward, wrapping her arms around Rhine and giving him a quick kiss, trying to make herself act normal.

"Didn't expect you to come in this way....Sorry about the noise. I just put Joel down for a nap and he's none too happy about it." She looked down at Natalia, not wanting to ignore the girl, and lightly patted her head.

"Hi there hon. Decided to come with your big brother today?"

"Thought we'd be different and show up on your doorstep." He grinned and wrapped his arms around her. Being this close he could pick up the tenseness in her body and how the hug felt almost practiced- necessary. What he didn't know is if it was because he had startled her by knocking on the front door or if it was something else.

"You should know by now that the last thing that bothers me is noise." He caressed her cheek and smiled. "After all he is our son." He knew it wasn't by blood but it was by choice. Joel and Keeta was a package deal and he was more than happy to have them both in his life... And, he couldn't wait to know more about the little boy. Soon they would truly be a family living under one roof.

"Yes!" Natalia clapped her hands in delight. "Brother told me you are going to dress up in pretty dress and say I do..." She grinned. "I just hope it means you'll ride horses with me and have tea parties every now and then and that I get to play with Joel more." She put her hands on her tiny hips and stood there 'puffed up'.

Keeta chuckled at the little girl's enthusiasm. Well she certainly planned on doing all those kinds of things with Natalia. She not only wanted to build a good relationship with the girl, but it was practically her job, what with Ceres...no...she wouldn't think about that now. There were too many other things at the moment.

"Well that's the plan," she said kneeling down to Natalia's level. "We still need to buy the pretty dress and make lots of plans first though, so you might have to wait a little while. I think I can fit in some visits with Joel and tea parties and horses in the mean time though." And I'll even have another friend to play with... Keeta added in her head.

"Well I don't want to keep you two on the porch all day. Come in!" she said stepping inside and making way for them.

"Can I get you guys anything? Water? Juice? A snack?"

Natalia clapped in delight in the fact that Keeta would be doing all those things and more with her. She was over joyed to have her joining the family. Having been here enough times previous she had memorized enough of the home to navigate without to much assistance.

Rhine grinned as he stepped inside. "Perhaps I should arrive via the mirror in the bathroom more often so you won't have us on the front porch all day." He was merely playing and his demeanor showed this. He kissed her again on the cheek.

"How about you lend me your kitchen and I'll fix us lunch..." Even though he did it for a living he loved to cook... It had after all started out as a hobby which rolled into a passion and went from there.

"I suppose that works..." Keeta said, the thought of Rhine cooking in her kitchen never having occured to her.

"Everything you need should be in the cupboards. If you tell me what you're planning I can help you fidn your way around." She glanced at the papers he held.

"So what's this you've brought with you?" She knew she was stalling by providing conversation, but part of her was hoping a good moment for introducing Camille would present itself.

Rhine looked down at the rolled up parchment and then back at Keeta. He ran his hands through his hair- almost nervously as reaction to her question. "These... Well..." He laughed dryly. "They are the lay out for the cafe and living quarters... Nothing that cannot be looked at over lunch." He smiled as he headed to the kitchen. He really didn't want to get into it before they were sitting down because if changes needed to be made he wanted to have the ability to take notes.

"Not exactly sure what I'll fix..." He said with a grin as he disappeared into the kitchen. He was one of those that could mix a little this, little that and create a dish on the fly with little to nothing at all and it actually be considered a good meal.

"Ok....well if you want to know where something in particular is let me know. I'm sorry to say my kitchen is not as well stocked as yours. I hope it has everything you need." Keeta was very curious about the parchment, but resisted the impulse to roll it open and look at it while he was cooking.

The clanging of cabinets and pots was heard but for a short moment before it was fairly silent. He opened the refrigerator several times over and at points you could almost swear he wasn't even in the kitchen at all for how silent he was.

"Come and get it," he called out as he pulled out a casserole dish from the oven. The dish contained nice sized pieces of chicken that had simmered in tomato soup, rice, and green beans.

As Rhine had been preparing the food, Keeta set the table in the kitchen with plates, glasses and all the necessary utensils. She was ready by the time he announced that the meal was finished cooking.

"That was fast! And it smells wonderful!" she remarked as she headed to the fridge to get out beverages.

"What would you like to drink Rhine? Natalia?" As she waited for their responses she unconsciously glanced toward the clock. She probably had another 30-45 minutes before all hell broke loose and both the toddlers woke up. Keeta knew she needed to find a way to broach the subject before then.

"Anything natural- fresh squeezed is preferred" Natalia replied. "Mother doesn't allow pop... or some of them other drinks that you find in other realms." Her tone revealed her rolling eyes.

Rhine chuckled and said nothing about when you get older. He ruffled his sisters hair and helped her to the table. He held her hand and showed her the empty plate and silverware.

Keeta smirked at Natalia's grown-up response before bringing two pitchers to the table. One with apple juice and one with water. She seated herself as well and started to seve herself a portion of the casserole and then served the others.

She watched as they began to eat and she waited until Rhine had just put a mouthful of casserole in his mouth before speaking. She didn't want to be interrupted and her 'confession' came tumbling out.

"Umm....Rhine. I have something to tell you...this past week I acquired a daughter. Her name is Camille and she came out of the Monet painting I bought."

Rhine continued to chew the already well chewed bite of food. He wasn't furious not in the least but he figured it was best to not say anything just yet. Finally he swallowed- silently enough before pouring himself some water and taking a swallow.

He grinned his goofy little smirk. "I believe my mother's saying applies to this situation," he finally said after a short period of time- which could have easy seemed longer than it was. "There is always room for one more. I just don't have the means to will a room into place so I'll have to hire the crew again to add a wall... Granted both rooms won't be as big as the one but they will still be more than big enough."

He ran his fingers through his hair and scratched behind his ear. "Though, in the future... As much as I like having more and more kids we might want to plan a bit better so I don't have to make accommodations on the fly," he said with a chuckle.

Keeta watched him nervously, waiting for his reaction. It seemed to take forever before that smile appeared. She listened quietly as he spoke, trying to make herself believe he was sincere about being ok with the situation (apart from the inconvenience of having to add another wall).

"You mean that? It's ok? And I know I would like to plan better too. I kind of freaked out when she showed up in my closet, but she's really sweet....And you don't have to build another wall, they're already sharing a room...." All this was said in a rush, an expression of her relief and gratitude.

Rhine couldn't help himself but to laugh when she mentioned the little girl showing up in the closet... It reminded him of a time when he ended up in a friends cabinet that had a mirror.

"Yes, I'm serious," he said as he tried his best to catch his breath. "They both need their own room... You don't expect the boy to have pink walls and flowers... And her to have blue walls and race cars... or a combination... do you?" He grinned. "Especially later on... I think he might be terrified of just how girly girls can be later on and vise versa."

"Well....I'm sure I could find something that would work, but if you insist. I just don't want to make things more difficult for you. You're already moving partly due to me..." Keeta frowned feeling like she was putting a lot on her fiancee. Just then Keeta heard a sleepy sounding grunt from behind her.

Camille was wandering from down the short hallway rubbing her eyes, her plant-like hair disheveled. Noticing the other people with Keeta at the table, she stopped where she was, not certain she wanted to come further.

"Camille, come here, it's ok. I want you to meet some special people. And I also want them to meet you." Keeta reached out to the girl encouragingly.

Rhine reached out and touched Keeta's face gently as he smiled. "Really it was time for an upgrade. When it was just me, my sister, and well..." He didn't say his wife because he didn't like to dwell on that. "It wasn't so terribly cramped. But when it came to her and her girl friend, me and you and our family... Well, let's face facts," he said with a chuckle, "it just wasn't going to work with us living all on one floor. So between that and the cafe needing more space... It was more than time for an upgrade."

Rhine's attention moved from Keeta to the little girl. His smile became warmer as if he was almost glowing. He carefully moved from the chair and knelt down in front of her. "Hello there pretty lady. My name's Rhine."

Between being half-asleep, and her overwhelming shyness, Camille took a step back to hide behind Keeta and watch this new man from a safe distance. It wasn't that Rhine was scary or moved too quickly, he was simply unfamiliar and thus she wasn't ready to be close him yet. Besides, he was really the only person she had met besides Keeta and Joel.

She silently looked past him and noticed a second new person. This person was smaller, so perhaps not as threateningand hadn't tried to put attention on her yet. Camille watched and waited seeing what might happen.

"She's very shy it seems," Keeta said as a bit an apology, putting a gentle hand on the toddler's head.

"She took to Joel and me rather easily, but maybe that's because she instincitvely knew I was her mommy, as kind of an imprinting...." She frowned not really happy with her explanation. It didn't seem right to put it in such "animalistic" terms, but she didn't know how else to explain it.

Natalia's curiosity was piqued when there was talk of another person in the room- and she heard this person as well... however, silent she was. She sat impatiently in her chair waiting for someone to show her this new person.

"Doesn't bother me a bit," Rhine said as he took a seat on the floor- dinner abandoned for the moment. "It takes time," he said patiently even if his sister was showing impatience. He wasn't about to introduce her yet to the newest member when she wasn't even ready yet to come from behind Keeta.

Natalia sighed and rolled her eyes in reaction. She muttered something that sound something like 'figures' before shoveling in a mouthful of chicken.

Camille didn't move, although the man didn't seem as unapproachable when he was more-or-less her level by sitting on the floor.

"You don't need to sit on the floor Rhine," Keeta said, her tone halfway between scolding and amusement.

"I'm sure she'll come out when she's ready..." She paused for a moment, pursing her lips thoughtfully.

"She seems to have taken on characteristics of the painting in her appearance. I wonder if it's my fault that's she's shy like this. You know, for leaving her in the closet alone for so long, when she was a painting. If I had known there was a girl inside of course I wouldn't have left the painting seculded in the dark...." The pursed lips turned into a frown the more she considered the matter.

"Keeta... Love... When not at the cafe I live on the floor," Rhine said with that ever lasting chuckle of his. "Mater of fact I know what it's like to be at a toddlers height for a good period of time. I spent most of my rearing years laying around and looking up at the world."

"Better in the closet than in a box..." Rhine said as he looked away from the little girl and towards Keeta. "Speaking of boxes... You do plan on moving in soon don't you?"

Natalia at the moment crossed her arms- she looked as if she was containing a considerable amount of anger.

"Errr..." Keeta said, not quite ready to answer his question. Truth be told, she rather privately hoped that they would wait to move in together after they were married. She wondered if the living together so soon had contributed to her and Kael's problems and she didn't want to mess it up with Rhine.

"I thought it wasn't ready yet? That things were still being built. Isn't that why you brought that with you?" she asked, glancing at the rolled up parchment her had brought in with him. Caught up in her discussion with Rhine, she didn't notice Natalia's growing frustration.

Camille noticed, however, and shrunk back further from the hostility emminating from the older girl.

"Well... It was done," Rhine said all his laughter coming to a halt. "But, now we'll need that extra wall." He glanced at the rolled up plans. "I always keep a spare of the blue prints for the just in case purposes of me needing to contract someone..."

Rhine couldn't help it. That was just the type person he was... The go get er. Once he knew what he wanted it was only a matter of time... He didn't really like to linger on things.

Natalia, no longer able to control herself, let out a whicker of frustration- in that moment she sounded almost like her father. But in the next moment she was very much like her mother as her hands found the material of what she wore and she began to straighten it out... As if also ironing out her anger as well.

"Oh...I didn't realize things had been completed. How long do you think it will take them to put in the extra wall? And..." Keeta was about to add something to her statement when Natalia's whicker cut her off. She blinked and looked up at the girl startled.

"Natalia?" she asked, not certain what was bothering the girl.

"Once I contract them about a week- two at the most..." Rhine didn't have time to say much else as the rooms attention had fallen on Natalia.

Natalia could sense that everyone had become focused on her. She really had tried to control herself. "You really are self centered brother," she said with a equine like snort. "Really, really you are." She was past the point of trying to control herself... She looked Rhine dead on which was an indicator she had control of herself and her will power... And at that moment she could see EVERYTHING in clarity.

"Natalia...wha-?" Keeta sputtered. She had never seen the girl act like this, and if Keeta knew anything about Natalia's mother, she knew Ceres would not have raised her to speak to her brother like that.

"Natalia, you shouldn't speak to your brother like that," Keeta said, scolding her somewhat. She was her godmother after all. She frowned at the girl and crossed her arms.

"And if something is bothering you, you need to tell us exactly what it is, instead of making us guess and then calling people names." Keeta hoped she wasn't stepping over some kind of boundry line by trying to parent Natalia, but she wouldn't stand for the girl speaking like that in her home.

Camille whimpered slightly at the increased tension in the room and crawled under Keeta's chair. With her shiness, she seemed to pick up on emotions of others more readily and the hostility in the room scared her.

"He knows good and well what he has done even if he did it unintentionally," Natalia said with a huff as she looked away from Rhine. Just looking at him made her that much more angrier.

"Now, now Natalia I didn't go and spoil what you wanted..." he said trying to appease her. She wasn't a 'brat' often but she had her moments. At this point in time he really just needed to focus on getting her calmed down before she exhausted herself to the point of passing out.

Natalia rolled her eyes before settling her gaze on Camille who had come to hide under the chair. "One would think I was the island reincarnated." She snorted. This side of her was more of an influence her sisters had on her... There personalities having accidentally rubbed off on her.

"Well I don't know what the problem is," Keeta said, her tone becoming angry in reaction.

"So please don't make the rest of us wonder what is going on!"

Camille whimpered again when her mother's voice got louder. Keeta realizing what was happening, calmed herself and got down, pulling Camille gently out from under the chair and into her arms. She clung to Keeta, peeking an eye over at Natalia.

"That's not funny Natalia," Keeta said evenly at the girl's last comment.

"She frightens easily and your tempertantrum isn't helping things." Her voice grew quiet and a little sad.

"I had rather hoped you two would become friends...."

Natalia's head 'flickered in a very equine fashion... "I haven't even begun," she said shortly but before anything else could be said Rhine was up off the floor with his hand over her mouth.

"Hush," he growled commandingly low in his throat. "Before you hurt yourself... Don't let it control you." He moved his hand and ran his fingers through her hair.

It took everything in her to get a hold of herself. Sometimes one thing just lead to another and then another. "I'm sorry," she said as she looked away and closed her eyes.

Keeta remained on the floor, visibly confused by what had just transpired. She was rubbing Camille's back trying to calm her, although the girl seemed to relax somewhat as soon as Natalia seemd to calm down. Her hands still held tight to keeta, however, as though she feared a repeat of the past few moments.

"What just happened....?" Keeta asked, her tone thick with uncertainty.

Rhine bit his lip hard enough that it bled. These were things that were generally not spoke of around Natalia- but at the same time Keeta deserved to know. Heck he was rather surprised she hadn't been told sooner by their mother Ceres.

After a moment he let out a sigh. He'd try his best. "It has to do a lot with what is in her blood, body, spirit, soul... you know all that." He said trying to keep it vague. "The island has always made sure that a good bulk of himself remains in the maidens offspring... She's no different. Unfortunately, that means that they act a lot like him until they can control themselves... Maidens have to shape themselves... They just don't wake up one day and say okay it's my turn to take over the island... It takes a lot of time, skill, and patience. She could actually end up turning e-v-i-l..." He actually spelled evil instead of saying it. "It is just all up to her and her level of control..."

"Seriously, brother... I didn't fall off the cherry tree yesterday. I've got ears you know and occasionally a set of working eyes. I really wish you all would let me grow up." She snorted. She couldn't help it. She was sick of being treated like a child. And, now that mother wasn't around she could express this. "Besides, I'm sure Camillie doesn't want to hear any of this... And, that is what this moment is about..."

"Oh...." It was a lame excuse for a response to all that, but it was all Keeta could manage for the moment. Natalia turn evil? The thought was almost to much to process when she thought of Ceres. Keeta didn't know if she was ready to parent an additional normal child, let alone an additional evil one. She hoped the fear that had materialized didn't show in her face or her eyes. Just in case, she looked down and kissed Camille on the head, smoothing her green hair, so she wouldn't have to look at them.

"Camille probably doesn't understand half of our discussion, so I wouldn't worry about what you say so much as what you do. I figure she's somewhere around four. When I get a chance I plan to take her to the clinic to get a basic check-up and see if they can't tell me where she is developmentally."

"She would make an adorable flower girl at your wedding," Natalia said with a grin. Her absent stare was an indicator that she could no longer see the world around her. "Speaking of which... That brings up my birthday. I want to ask you something Keeta..."

Rhine rolled his eyes knowing exactly what was coming... He didn't really like it one bit but what could he do- Natalia was his sister after all and didn't really have a say when it came to her requests.

"Perhaps," Keeta said, smiling a little at the thought of Camille preceeding her down the aisle in a cute little dress. Although...that might be overwhelming for the introverted little girl. Her mind started traveling along the line of the wedding and she almost didn't hear Natalia's last statement.

"Ask me something?" she said absentmindedly, completely missing Rhine's reaction.

"Marry my brother for my birthday," Natalia said with a wide grin. "I know it has already passed, but that's what I want as a birthday present." She played with the ends of her hair much the same way her mother did.

Rhine covered his face clearly too embarrassed to respond. It didn't matter if he already knew what was coming... It was just still to much. Maybe it was because he hadn't even set a date before his sister asking.

Keeta's head snapped up in surprise and she looked at Rhine, her face slightly pale. Get married right now? But what about inviting their friends and family and such?

"Natalia..." Keeta started gently, not wanting to rile her up again.

"I'm not sure that your brother and I are ready just yet..." were they?

"It isn't like I meant right now... But I meant shortly. Mother can take care of it... All you need to do is give her the guest list." She smiled innocently enough as if this wasn't just her doing.

"Kids ask some of the darnedest things..." Rhine said barely above a whisper.

"Rhine...." Keeta said suspiciously, but she wasn't really upset.

"Did you put Natalia up to this?"

"Seriously I didn't," Rhine said still unable to look at either Keeta or Natalia with a straight face. He really couldn't believe his sister had actually gone through with her plans of asking Keeta.

"Would you rather I ask for a bike?" Natalia questioned with a folding of her arms. "It isn't like I could ride it... And, there really isn't anything else I want... What I want, what I need is all provided for me with little to no effort."

Keeta didn't want to let the little girl down (or bring on her wrath!) but this wasn't something she could just give an easy answer to.

"I don't know Natalia. I'll have to think about it..." Not to mention that she needed to think about Joel's birthday as well. She could kick herself for not having celebrated it when it came around.

"How would you like it if I hosted a birthday party for you and Joel together? You could invite any of your friends..." Keeta trailed off hoping this idea would appeal to Natalia.

"I have no friends," Natalia said dropping the strands of hair that she had been playing with. "Unless you count you, Joel, and my siblings..." she sighed softly and began to fidget. "But I suppose a party would be fun non the less..." she said this even if she wasn't sure just what she could do. It was moments like this (when she realized how her sightless state effected her) that it hurt her the most...

Rhine came out of his embarrassed state with a sigh. He couldn't help this aspect of Keeta's life... There was only so much he and his siblings could do in helping their mother and father to raise Natalia...

"Well I can invite some of the other kids that live around here and maybe you can make some new friends?" Keeta suggested. Maybe she would even hang an invitation in the clinic for any of the children there to come. Noting Natalia's expression, she set Camille down and came over to the older girl. She placed a soft hand on one of Natalia's.

"I promise I'll make it fun for you."

"It does sound a little fun... At least there would be other kids there..." Natalia smiled softly and instinctively put her other hand on top of Keeta's. "What do you do on birthday parties?" Having never had one she didn't know what to expect...

Rhine was thankful for Keeta's motherly instincts...

It felt a little strange, having to tell Natalia the substance of a birthday party, but then she remembered that the little girl was part equine and thus matured more rapidly than some other children. She offered Rhine a smile before giving her attention back to Natalia.

"Well...at a birthday party, you invite other people over and you play games, laugh, sing songs, have cake a ice cream, open presents....You can even choose a theme for a birthday party, like a favorite show, or book. So what kinds of things would you like at your birthday party? We'll celebrate Joel too, but he's not really old enough to make a lot of those choices, so I'll let you help me with a lot of the planning."

Natalia snorted when her mind raced over the various things at a part. She couldn't ever recall her mother doing anything like that for her or for any of her siblings... Or for her father or herself for that mater. She half wondered if there was a reason.

She sat there for a good moment as she tried to think of things that she liked. "We have a TV but it is so fuzzy no one ever turns it on. They all tease mother about it because it has a huge pair of rabbit ears..." She sighed softly. "I've never actually looked at a book, but they do read to me... It is mostly fairy tails. Do you have a book you like Keeta?" This whole picking a theme was becoming tougher than she thought. She was about to get depressed again when Rhine spoke up.

"Music... Natalia you love your violin. We could make a party that involves a lot of noise..." As soon as he said it he knew he would regret it later.

Keeta cringed at Rhine's suggestion, grateful that Natalia couldn't see her. A lot of noise...She wasn't sure about that....but music? Music she could do.

"We could do a music themed party, absolutely," she said, glancing at Rhine again. "Joel just happens to really like music too, so that would work nicely if it's what you want."

Natalia clapped in delight- every bell on her jingled. "Yes, yes!" Suddenly she was excited again about the thought of having a party. "I love music! A birthday party with that theme would be awesome." She giggled.

Rhine caught Keeta's look. He grinned sheepishly. He was going to have to invest in some ear plugs... and some massage oil (for the after its over) to say thank you.

"Well sounds like we have some planning to do then," trying to maintain the level of enthusiasm. She was about to ask another question, when Joel could be heard crying from the other room. He had woken from his nap. Keeta sighed and made a face.

"But maybe we can plan in the next couple of days? I can come over to your house next time."

Rhine nodded and pointed down the hall. "I got that," he grinned and hurried out of the room.

"Is she any better?" Natalia asked. She was speaking of the little girl who she had frightened earlier. She hadn't meant to let things escalate- and now felt bad that it had

Keeta smiled at Rhine as he departed. She was grateful to him for stepping up, but at the same time, she would have been glad of an excuse to get away for a minute. There was a lot going on in her head. At Natalia's question, she looked behind her to see how Camille was doing.

The small girl was standing next to the chair, one hand gripping the side of it. Her other hand was near her mouth, as if she had recently broken the habit of sucking her thumb for comfort and so her hand automatically went there. She didn't look afraid now. Just cautious. It was quiet again except for Joel's crying, which she was used to. The older girl was calm now and not as intimidating. She stepped forward as Keeta reached out a hand to her.

"Who dat mommy?" she asked quietly, watching Nataila carefully.

"This is Natalia. She is a little girl of a friend of mine, like you are my little girl. She won't hurt you." Keeta tucked a stray lock of green hair behind Camille's ear.

"Natalia can't see the same way we do. She sees with her hands and not her eyes," Keeta continued, modeling the body parts she was describing.

"She wants to touch you, so she can see you. Is that ok? Mommy will be right here with you."

Camille looked from Natalia to Keeta with indecision plain on her face. Someone she didn't know touching her? She frowned....well if Mommy was going to be there. She paused in thought before giving a single silent nod and then clinging to Keeta for reassurance that she had made the right choice.

"It should be ok now Natalia," Keeta said. "But if I see her getting upset I'm going to ask you to stop, ok?"

"I didn't get to see much of her earlier in my moment of..." Natalia fidgeted for a moment and smiled apologetically. "So, I appreciate this opportunity." She held out her hand and waited for Keeta to take it and put it on Camille. "I understand and will stop if told. I also promise to be gentle."

Keeta seated Camille in her lap to provide further reassurance. She smiled at the little girl and nodded, trying to show how pleased she was with her cooperation, before gently taking Natalia's hand and guiding it to where she could touch Camille's hair. She figured that would be a 'safe' place to start.

Natalia smiled as her fingers curled into the little girls hair. She took a moment to rub it between her thumb and index enjoying just how soft it was... However, she did take note that it was a delicate soft like a texture you would find in the garden. "Do you just use water? or do you actually wash it?" She asked out of curiosity.

"Ummm....well I've only used water so far. When I get her to the doctor eventually, I would like to see what thet say about how to take care of her properly. You noticed it's a bit like plants then?" Keeta said, the smirk on her face could be heard in her voice. She took Natalia's hand and positioned it over one of the flowers that grew in Camille's hair.

"She also has white flowers that grow..."

Camille titled her head so she was looking up. She blinked just watching Natalia silently. Well, it seemed to be ok so far....

"Putting shampoo on flowers seems rather silly..." Natalia said with a light giggle. Only using her fingertips she traced around the flower. "It is rather amazing isn't it... How things grow.."

"It does seem a little silly," Keeta agreed. "But who knows the best way to take care of plant hair? I know there has to be some grown up people here in Gaia that have been through this and can tell me their experiences."

Keeta watched Natalia, how she gently used her hands to feel and "see." Growing things weren't the only amazing things. It seemed hard to believe that this same girl had a frightening temper-tantrum only moments before.

"Yes growing things are amazing."

"Like my mom says... A little TLC can take care of anything..." Rhine said having over heard the last bits of their conversation. Joel was securely riding his hip at the moment.

Natalia looked in the direction from which her brothers voice had come.

"Yes indeed. Thanks for getting him out of the crib." Keeta smiled and waved at Joel, who was still a little cranky from having just woken up.

He frowned and grunted before burying his face in Rhine's shoulder as if to get away from the brightness of the light. It seemed his three eyes made him more sensitive to dramatic changes in the intensity of light.

Camille shrank back ever so slighty from the big man, when he entered the room again. But....he was holding Joel and Joel seemed to be ok.

Rhine used his hand to shield Joel's face from the lights when he noticed the little boy trying his best to escape them. "You know we should go to the park."

"I suppose we could do that," Keeta said, lifiting Camille from her lap and getting up off the floor.

"It'd give us a chance to talk party ideas!" She said to Natalia.

"Just let me grab the stroller...." Keeta headed down the hall and returned a moment later with the double stroller and her "mom bag."

Rhine smiled as he took a hold of Natalia's hand. He still had a firm grip on Joel. He secretly wondered what they looked like to other. Did they look like a band of merry 'men' or a family. He hoped a family because that is what he wanted.

"You can put Joel in the stroller if you want," Keeta said as she lifted Camille and placed her in the front seat. She pulled the shading piece open, so that Camille wouldn't be in the bright afternoon sun when they got outside.

"If he's content- I'm content," Rhine said with a smile. "I'm use to carrying an lifting three or four times his weight." He kissed her cheek since the kids all seemed to be watching him earlier.

"Ok..." Keeta said shrugging, and returning the kiss on the cheek. She pushed the stroller towards the door and headed outside.

"Off we go then!"

Shopping Trip (WIP)

Keeta carefully stepped off the bus, before helping the two toddlers down and onto the sidewalk. Tightly gripping a smaller hand in each of hers, she started down the street a little ways towards the superstore just around the corner. Glancing down at the two smaller figures, she hoped it wouldn't be too far for them. This was far from the ideal trip.

Keeta had been putting it off for days. She had been making do with some of Joel's clothes for Camille, but it just didn't look right, plus she was running out of diapers and other necesseties. She kept hoping she could find a sitter, but no one from work was able to help out, Rhine had been really busy with the restaurant, Ceres had her own plate full, and she didn't really feel like she knew the rest of the island family well enough to ask them. Besides, she needed to learn how to make trips like this with small children. Right? Right...

Sighing, she helped the two quiet youngsters make their way. She hadn't bothered to bring the stroller as it couldn't fit both of them and she knew the store had a few carts that had seats for two children. Keeta just hoped that at least one of them was available. But a two seated stroller was definitely on her shopping list.

Lex longed for the days when the children he looked after were quiet. Actually, Sidney had never been quiet and Liam had never stopped being so, but Lex could recall calm afternoons after Sid had tired himself out for the day, when he and Liam had looked in shop windows and smiled at puppies and did all sorts of other idiotic things. Had it only been this past Christmas? So much had happened since then. Not that he didn't care for Sid, the flytrap child could just be... overwhelming at times, especially now that he wasn't so small anymore and no longer needed a mid-afternoon nap.

Right now, Sid had Liam by one of his four hands, the older boy dragging the younger around the display of Easter candy that took up most of the front of the store.

"See, these ones are eggs with real egg inside. I dunno anyone who'd want that," Sid said with a disgusted curl of his lip. Lex didn't bother to correct him.

"What're those?" Liam asked, pointing at a box of fluffy Peeps. The pointing hand quickly slipped back into one of the pockets in the painting child's hoodie.

"Chickens," Sid replied. "Baby ones."

As they reached the front of the store Keeta was sucessful in locating one of the two-seated carts. Gratefully strapping in Joel and Camille, she headed into the store and was similarly sidlined by the Easter candy display. But not because they were just looking, but because Joel saw something that he couldn't live without.

Straining out of the side of the cart, Joel reached towards a stuffed rabbit that was almost as big as he was.

"Mama! Bunny!" he squealed excitedly, and none too quietly. It looked like the silent period of the day was over.

"No, Joel, not today," Keeta sighed and shook her head, having already bought Joel an Easter present several weeks ealier, that was sitting at home. She made a mental note to pick up something for Camille while they were here, however.

Joel frowned. But he wanted it!

"Bunny," he said, much of the excitement gone, the word bordering on whining, his chubby finger pointing at the stuffed creature.

Again Keeta shook her head and her eyes traveled to Camille, who was reacting to the tension in the air by sitting quitely and staring at Joel with her eyes wide, and a look of wanting to run and hide. Why couldn't Joel just look at it like the other two small children nearby?

Sid turned from his Peep examination at the sound of Joel's voice. Hey, a kid with blue hair! And a third eye! The Hiccup was transfixed. "Hi!" he said to anyone in the vicinity. "D'you want this?" he asked, reaching for the toy Joel had tried to grab.

"Sid," Lex warned. The man scrubbed a hand across his eyes and over his stubbled chin, but remained where he was, examining bunny-shaped boxes of sugary candy hearts several feet away.

Liam, however, was more interested in the unhappy-looking green girl on the other side of the cart. The hand that he had used to point at candy earlier made another appearance as he offered Camille a silent wave.

Joel normally wasn't very pleased to interact with other children if he could help it, but right now his grownup wasn't cooperating and the other boy seemed to want to give him the toy. Grinning at Sid, he reached out and again repeated the word, the tone no longer as whiney.

"Bunny."

Keeta clenched her jaw momentarilly in frustration. Was this other child going to give Joel what he wanted, after she had already said no? She was trying to teach him that he couldn't always have what he wanted. True the boy who had spoken was probably just trying to help, but it certainly wouldn't be helping her.

"No, Joel. No bunny," she repeated to her son.

Her lips were pressed into a thin line as she glanced at the nearby adult who seemed to be attached to the child. He had seemed to verbally warn him, but that was it. If he chose not to intervene should Sid continue, Keeta knew she would stand by helplessly and watch it happen. She would never interfere with someone else's children and she hadn't the confidence to stand up for herself against this other man. Welll... she would wait and see what happened. Keeta's attention was so focused on what was happening with Joel that she missed the younger child waving at Camille.

When Camille noticed Liam, she offered him a shy smile and waved back, his greeting a distraction from her brother's almost-tantrum. Normally she probably would have reacted to this friendly gesture by withdrawing further, but in her child-like intuition, something told her that she and the boy with the many arms had something in common. If asked, however, she would not be able to articulate the feeling.

"Sorry," Sid said, not realizing that he'd probably made an enemy for life in denying Joel what he desired. "Uncle Lex says no." As if speaking his uncle's name had sparked a wildly important memory, Sid shoved the bunny back where it had come from and hurried to Lex's side. "Underwear," he said with extreme gravitas.

Lex nodded and looked out over the store, spotting the sign on the ceiling that denoted the children's clothing section. As good a place to start as any. He held out his hand for Liam to take, even though the child wasn't looking at him. "C'mon Liam."

The little eyeless boy frowned for a moment, turning from Camille's wave to look at his father. "I wanna say hi," he said softly, despite the fact that he had technically already done so.

Well, at least the older child had listened to the warning in the man's voice. Keeta felt a wave of relief as the boy put the toy away. She would not have to confront the man.

As Sid returned the rabbit to the shelf, Joel reached for the toy in vain, kicking his legs and making frustrated noises at having been foiled a second time. His center eye remained locked on the toy as he turned to Keeta giving her a sad face.

Keeta rolled her eyes. Barely a toddler and her son was already trying to manipulate her. Well she wasn't going to give in. She glanced straight at him and firmly repeated the word.

"No." Shaking her head, she was about to move the cart forward, when she noticed Camille was looking at the other child, even interacting with him.

Camille looked from Liam to Lex and then lowered her eyes and made herself smaller. For some reason she didn't mind saying hi to the boy, but his father was another matter and her shyness took over.

If it had been Sidney who had wanted to stay behind and talk to some shy little girl, Lex might have let him. Anyone stupid enough to kidnap the boy would be quickly forced to give him up once they found out just how much he chattered. But this was Liam, and Lex wasn't inclined to leave his son by himself. He lowered his hand. "A few minutes then," he said. Several months ago, Lex might have been more sociable, introducing himself to Keeta or something similar, but Lex found he had little patience for much of anything these days. Watching helplessly as your flesh turned to water and back again was one thing, but having the subject changed by the one person who knew why every time you tried to find out how it had happened was quite another. Try as he might, Lex couldn't get past it, at least for the moment. He cast a brief glance at Liam as the child approached Camille, but kept his distance.

"Dun hide, Daddy an' Sid are nice," Liam said softly, finally shuffling over to stand nearer to the girl.

Keeta stood to the side of the cart to allow the children to interact more freely. She also wanted to avoid placing herself physically between the child and his parent. Even though she wasn't dealing with bears here, it didn't make sense to put oneself between an adult and it's "cub" in any situation. She nodded to Lex in greeting. There was no point in ignoring him now.

Camille looked past Liam uncertainly at the boy's reassurance as to the nature of his family. She frowned slightly as if she was thinking, If you say so... After a moment her gaze returned to the boy standing in front of her, and she appeared to relax slightly.

"Me Camille," she said in her small toddler voice. "Who you?"

This had better be good... (WIP)

Keeta stood outside the shop, leaning against the brand-new double stroller. Joel was asleep, shaded by the expandable part of the stroller, and Camille was quiet as usual. Keeta had given her small chick plushie for Easter and she seemed content to carry it around with her. Her eyes were constantly watching the goings on of the passing world and never seemed to tire of just looking.

Once more Keeta frowned at the shop entrance. She had been standing out there for some minutes, trying to work up the courage to go in. Confrontation was not her strong point. What was she going to say to this lady. WTF? Why do I suddenly have a little green toddler in my life? She sighed. If nothing else she wanted some answers as to Camille's nature and what to expect in the future. She already had enough unanswered questions where Joel was concerned. She didn't want any more.

Setting her jaw, her will finally resolved, she opened the door and pushed the stroller inside, looking for the shock of purple hair that she had remembered the woman having.

Bai-Shén was happily humming as she dusted a row of paintings with a dainty feather duster. Spring always made her happy as a clam, and so far nobody had come back to return a painting...or a child. All was well! She had not noticed her old customer hanging around outside, but now that she'd come in, there was a little shock of fear. Oh no!

"Hi~!" she chimed, grinning to the contrary of her shock, "How can I help you today?" She hazarded a little glance toward the stroller. Yes, she remembered the little blue-haired boy, but not so much the green--oh! That must be her! How cute! The look was only momentary so as to not begin trouble before it needed to begin.

"Hello...." Keeta said warily, trying to decide if the woman recognized her or not, and if she realized why Keeta was here.

"Do you remember me? I came and bought a painting from you a few months back. A Monet..." She paused to let the woman absorb the information and wondered whether she would have to accuse the woman before beign told the truth of the matter.

Camille watched the lady. She knew that Keeta had never brought her here previously and yet, something was familiar about her, much like the boy they had encountered at the store.

Bai-Shén crouched slightly and waved to the little girl. It didn't seem as if she remembered her. Oh well! Sometimes the spirits lay dormant for so long they forgot about her.

"Of course I remember you!" she chirped, straightening to look at the mother of the children, "I remember all my customers! I remember the painting too! Did you break it?"

Because it was a reasonable question to begin a conversation about the child with...right?

Camille smiled and waved back. Yes! This lady was definitely familiar. She was beginning to remember that this lady had been really nice to her. Sensing the tension in Keeta, she looked up at her mommy. Why didn't mommy like the nice lady?

Well if that wasn't forward Keeta didn't know what was. She blinked, slightly taken aback.

"Not exactly. My son scribbled on it, when I left it unattended for a few minutes." She paused, just looking at the woman. After a moment of silence she continued.

"I suppose you know why I'm here then."

"The child came from the painting, and you would like to know why," Bai-Shén smiled, "First and foremost, 'you break it, you buy it' I believe you say. I will gladly answer any questions you have, though. Would you like to come to the back room?" She was more or less inviting Keeta to join her in her home. It just so happened to be a part of the store.

"Yes...that pretty much covers it. And you know....why I wasn't informed of this possibility upon purchase of the painting, but I suppose we can get into that in a minute." At the invitation Keeta hesitated a moment before shrugging.

"Sure, why not?" It would feel a little like trespassing to be in the back area of a store, but she was invited so she knew she shouldn't feel that way. Maybe there would be a place for them to sit down and talk back there.

The kirin-girl nearly skipped to the back room and opened the door, revealing her "studio". It was simply one end of art supplies, a small bed, and a small bathroom and kitchen sectioned off by a curtain. Against the front wall were two chairs, and Bai-Shén pulled one out for Keeta to sit in.

"Would you like some tea?" she asked. Really, she seemed entirely oblivious to any anger the woman might be exuding.

"Um....sure, I guess. Thank you," she said, still feeling akward. She pushed the stroller towards the chairs and glanced at the two toddlers. Joel was still asleep, but she knew Camille wouldn't tollerate sitting in the stoller very long if they weren't going anywhere.

She reached for the little girl and took her into her lap as she sat down, hoping the purple-haired woman wouldn't mind the girl being out of the stroller. Keeta stroked the toddler's long green hair, feeling her fingertips brush the lily petals.

Camille was silent, which wasn't unusual, but it wasn't out of surprise or fear, which seemed to be usual causes of her silence. The girl's posture was relaxed and her eyes seemed to sparkle, almost as if she were curious. It seemed odd to Keeta that Camille wasn't afraid of this woman that was a relative stranger. She was still getting used to Rhine, and she got to see him almost every day!

As she thought, Keeta glanced around the room, noting the bed and other little comforts of home. She glanced at the shop owner, her expression carrying a hint of surprise.

"You live here?"

Bai-Shén gave a little giggle and hummed as she poured two cups of tea, and then a little cup of milk with a tiny cookie. It wouldn't do to leave her little friends without sustenance!

"Yep! This is my home~" she cooed, returning with the tea and pushing Keeta and Camille's cups and saucers over. She touched a finger to little Camille's finger and smiled. She'd come out rather pretty!

"Oh, well thank you for inviting me back here, I didn't realize....I hope we're not intruding any," Keeta paused considering how she wanted to get into this discussion. She took a sip of the tea, grateful for it's calming warmth, before offering the cookie to Camille, who took it with a smile.

"It's strange how relaxed Camille is around you, because normally she's very shy around new people. It's like she already knows you. Does she?" Keeta looked at the Kirin woman with questioning eyes.

"Well, more or less," Bai-Shén reasoned aloud, "She was an innocent soul I chose to protect. When she was a soul, and when she was a painting, she undoubtedly knew exactly who I was. The souls and I, we're good friends! When the paintings are ruined, though, a lot of them lose parts or all of their memories." How sad!

Keeta blinked in surprise. Bai-shen had known Camille as a soul? Before she had ever had a body? That was certainly something outside her previous experience.

"So....how does one get to know...souls? And how did she get to be a painting? And...why don't you inform your customers that they might in-fact be purchasing a child? They may not be prepared for the responsibility!" Keeta knew she was asking several questions in a row, each one the tone becoming more passionate. Trying to get a handle on herself, she drank some more tea.

Camille looked behind her at Keeta, her expression perplexed.

"Mommy ok?"

Bai-Shén just smiled at the little girl and gave Keeta a curious expression.

"You wouldn't have a child if you hadn't destroyed my work," she said simply, a brow arching, "As for souls and paintings, well, that's none of your business." It was small, but this was the first animosity that could be heard from the girl.

"Mommy's fine," Keeta said trying to keep her voice under control as she answered Camille. She offered the little girl what she hoped was a reassuring smile, before turning back to Bai-shen.

Camille didn't look utterly convinced. Mommy seemed upset for a reason her young mind couldn't understand. But even very young children could sense when something was out of the ordinary. Camille's shy personality kept her from asking again, however, she just wrapped her arms around Keeta's waist. This elicited a small smile from the blue-haired woman before she continued to speak to the shop owner.

"I didn't set out to destroy your work! My son just happened to get his hands on it while I went to find the hammer so I could hang it...." Keeta sighed, trying to cool her temper. She was miffed at having some of her questions hedged but if she made the other woman angry it wasn't likely the rest of her questions would be answered. When next she spoke her voice was calm.

"Ok...so you can't tell me how Camille came to be a soul that needed to be put into a painting. Can you at least tell me what I might expect in the future? One thing I've learned since living in Gaia is that many people and things are not as simple as they appear, especially if they came from an unusual source. Is she going to grow and develop like a "normal" child? Or...." keeta trailed off, hoping the other woman would fill it in if there was an "or."

Water Balloons 101 (WIP)

Keeta glanced to either side of the entrance to the clinc hoping no one was watching her. She was currently struggling to get her newly purchased double stroller through the doorway and was determined not to loose the battle, although Joel was starting to frown at her from the stroller seat closer to her. Camille's expression was hidden from view by the shade, but she didn't imagine the little green-skinned girl was any more comfortable.

She was about to give up and leave the stroller outside, only bringing the children in when she finally managed to hold the door at the right angle and push with the right amount of force to get the stroller through. She quickly glanced around the waiting room, in the hopes that it was empty aside from the receptionist who was eyeing her with a raised eyebrow. That was really something she had hoped she had a small audience for....

Amena had exchanged a questioning look with the receptionist as the other woman had struggled with the door. The smaller girl had leaned forward, about to hope up to help out, but each time she did, it looked as though the other had just about gotten it, and then it wouldn't go.

Just as she decided to actually hop off the high seat, the stroller seemed to miraculously make it through.

Amena blushed a little, worried that when she was spotted, the woman would think her quite rude for not trying to assist sooner, as she sat back down, feeling a little silly.

She raised her head a little, trying to see into the stroller. Oh! She rememebered them! They had been in here the first day she came by with Imbri.

She sent a greetings sort of feeling towards keeta, when she noticed another with her. Amena didn't remember the other girl, though...

When she though small audience she hadn't pictured someone of small stature. Amena! Keeta remembered the porcelin from one of her earlier visits to the clinic. Had it been her last one? She blushed, realizing her difficulties had been witnessed, but she smiled anyways noting Amena's rounding belly.

"Hello there! I remember meeting you before. Looks like you're getting closer to having a little one." She noticed the porcelin was alone, rememebring the slightly grouchy woman that had been with her before. Keeta pictured Imbri in her head, trying to 'send' it to Amena, not sure if she was even remotely doing it right. Maybe she could get Luna to help her understand this communication better when she was talking with her.

"Your friend isn't with you today?"

Amena shook her head, feeling her ponytail bounce on her shoulders as she did. No, there was no Imbri this time. She pictured little Rosa in her head, sending the feelings of busy and infant as she smiled. Imbri had lots of new responsibilities these days.

The littler woman touched her belly lightly and practically glowed with maternal pride. "Yes, I'm almost due," she managed to croak out hoarsely. Looking at the other new little girl, she raised her head with a questioning look. Who was the cute little one that keeta had brought with her?

Ah...so the woman had a infant of her own now. With the woman's personality, Keeta secretly wondered how Imbri was handling the new little one. Her train of thought was inturrupted when Amena spoke. Until now she hadn't been aware that the porcelin used any form of verbal communication and belatedly realized the surprise that must be showing on her face. She hoped the smallish woman wouldn't be bothered by that.

"Congratulations," she responded after a moment, the smile back on her face.

"I hope you enjoy being a mother very much. As for me...." she reached down into the stroller and picked up Joel first, knowing he would get fussy long before Camille. Setting him on his feet, she fished in the bottom of the stroller and handed him a toy.

"I think you met Joel before...but this is Camille," she finished, pulling the slightly older girl out of the stroller and setting her down on a chair.

The girl glanced at Amena before hiding her face behind Keeta.

"She's....very shy as you can see."

Amena bent sideways, trying to see behind Keeta to catch the little girls eyes, then covered her face with her tiny hands. Amena was shy sometimes too. If she could, she would sometimes like to hide under a table or behind the bed with new people came over.

But she was all grown up now and expected to act as such. The porcelain made a face. Being grown up was overrated.

Turning to Joel, she made a gleeful, excited face, and instead of sending an emotion, just used what (she hoped) was a widely recognized hand gesture. She held out her hand very low to the ground, then raised it up a bit.

Joel had gotten bigger, yes?

Keet nodded, bigger indeed, and into bigger trouble.

"Yes he's been growing a lot lately! Walking and starting to talk and all sorts of things. He's becoming quite the independant little boy. In fact I'm not sure Camille would be here except that he started to walk and consequently started to get into trouble."

As if to puntuate her point, Joel started toddling over to the other side of the room, dropping his toy as he went to investigate the clinic's waiting room entertainment.

Keeta almost followed him, but decided she would just keep a close eye on him. He wasn't causing any trouble...yet.

At the sound of Keeta saying her name, Camille peeked a blue eye out from behind Keeta to look at Amena again, her hands now clinging to the back of Keeta's clothing.

Amena laughed, remembering a time with water-balloons and Silver and a few other porcelains when she was a little girl and wondering now if Imbri had thought she was a handful back then.

"Crayons on wall?" she asked, with a sort of giggle. She watched him for a moment, until Camille looked around Keeta.

The redhaired woman tried to give her softest smile and waved friendly, happy emotions at the litte girl. Maybe she'd be curious about the strange Amena?

Sometimes curiousity outweight shyness. Sometimes.

"Well...funny you should say that. Not exactly. More like crayons on other pieces of artwork. I bought a reproduction of a Claude Monet painting from an artist downtown and when I went to hang it, I left it in the hallway while I hunted down the hammer. When I returned Joel had left his signature on it."

Soon Joel grew bored with looking at the things on the other side of the room and toddled back over to Keeta and Camille.

"Jooth!" he said in his still babyish speech, reaching his hands up as if expecting Keeta to give him something.

Ah, now Joel wanted his juice...and getting it would require disentangling herself from Camille. She gently reached back and pulled the little girl's hands from her shirt.

"Camille I'm going to get Joel's juice out. Say hello to Amena, she's nice, I promise...." Keeta watched her as she stepped away, trying to gauge the reaction. Camille wasn't much of one to cry or throw a fit if she was upset, she would merely withdraw further, and that certainly wasn't Keeta's goal.

The green girl lifted her eyes to meet Amena's as Keeta stepped away. She had been feeling the emotions, but didn't quite know what to make of them. The lady didn't look scary though. And she was even smaller than Keeta. Otherwise keeping very still, she moved a few fingers on her small hand in an attempt at a wave.

"Monet..." Amena said out loud. It sounded familiar, but she couldn't place the name. She passed it off as something she must have read at some point in time.

"Did you get..." she grasped at the emotion, as she tried to find the word. "Upset?"

Amena eyed Camille with a smile. She wasn't too much taller than the little girl, and even though she knew the girl was much younger, it was nice to be around the same height as someone else. She mirrored the waving motion and took a step forward, seeing if the girl would react. Amena wondered what you said to a shy girl.

"Umm...you like water ballons?" it was the most recent thing on her mind, so it ended up just popping out. She hoped the little girl didn't get ideas. Amena wouldn't like to be the cause of these "Monet's" getting wet too.

"Well...yes," Keeta admitted reluctantly. She didn't like remembering how she had responded and Joel's reaction. It was not one of her better parenting moments.

"Probably shouldn't have though....it was my fault for leaving the painting where he could get at it. He couldn't have known better, I mean he's a toddler for goodness sake...." She gently stoked the boy's blue hair as she spoke. Joel didn't seem to notice as he was preoccuied with gulping down the juice from his sippy cub.

"And Camille wouldn't even be here if he hadn't done that, or so says the shopkeeper I bought the painting from," Keeta continued, glancing at her recently adopted...daughter. It was still taking a little getting used to thinking of her in that context.

"Of course she failed to tell me that I might get a child out of the deal when I bought the painting." Keeta pressed her lips together slightly. It wasn't that she didn't like Camille, it was just that she was.... overwhelmed. And that was half the reason she was here today. Hopefully Luna would be able to help her out.

Camille didn't seem to be paying attention to what Keeta was saying, which is just as well. She was more intently focused on Amena and what the petite woman was doing. Surprised by the question, she looked up at Keeta suddenly for reassurance. Lost in thought it took the half-elf a moment, before she nodded to the child, indicating she should answer Amena.

"I like water...." she said very quietly. She wasn't quite sure she knew what a water ballon was, but she definietly liked playing in water and spending time in the water.

Luna had been sleeping at her desk. Not that she MEANT to, really, but there was just something about spring days that relaxed her so much that she was just unable to help herself. What she wouldn't have given to be outside, underneath a large tree, napping!

The voices outside her door weren't what woke her; actually, she had to admit, it was the familiar projection of Porcelain that caught her attention.

Amena. A cousin.

And then, fading into her perception, two others, and a familiar woman who needed her.

Quickly rubbing her eyes (careful not to smudge her makeup), she opened her door just a crack-- just enough to signal that she was in her office and available.

Well...Amena probably would have gotten upset too. She sent an empathy wave, trying to indicate she didn't think Keeta was a bad mommy for slipping up once. She sighed. Amena imagined it was bound to happen to her. It would be so hard not to be the only princess in the house and in Silver's life when her little baby was born.

Her ponytail touched lower on her back as she tilted her head sideways. The man hadn't told her the painting was going to turn into a child? (She had been in Imbri's house long enough to not question the schemantics of a painting turning into a child, and just let it be) But...wasn't that critical information? Sounded like a shady sort of shop to her. Miss Keeta shouldn't go back. She shook her head, oh no. They might slip her some more kids! (For there always seemed to be more children in the world than there were parents to handle them, which seemed sad)

Well! If little Camille liked water, she should like water ballons! They were like portable (not to be confused with potable) water! Amena dug into her robe pockets. She was sure she had an empty ballon left.

Pulling out a small green ballon, she held it out. "You fill, and then you carry water around!"

What she did with the carried around water was entirely up to her discrestion. She wondered if the young girl would understand it was chiefly meant for mischief.

Out of the corner of her eye, Keeta saw the door to Luna's office open slightly. Ah, so she was there....Keeta wondered if Luna could sense the reason she had come. Well she would head over as soon as it wouldn't be rude to step away from the conversation with Amena. And the Porcelin had gotten Camille to talk a little bit. She was interested to see if Amena could coax more out of the girl. In the meantime, she kept up the conversation.

"No, you're right....I probably won't go back to the shop unless I need more information. I imagine the owner knows a bit more about how children from paintings grow and develop. And she indicated that Camille might develop some sort of special abilities as she grows. I just hope it's something I can mange to help her control until she can do it indpendently. One thing I learned from living in Evin is that undeveloped or uncontroled magical abilities can often lead to trouble."

Camille hesitated a moment, again looking to Keeta for reassurance, before taking the offered ballon. The idea of being able to carry water around anywhere was too appealing to resist! The little girl gave another small smile to Amena. The small lady wasn't so scary after all.

"Thank you," she said in the same quiet voice.

Keeta watched her, pleased that she was interacting so well with Amena. Although she did hope that if Camille was going to discover the joys of waterballoons, that it would happen outside. A thought occured to her and she turned to Amena.

"You keep spare water ballons on you often?" she asked, curious.

Amena looked around sheepishly, trying not to look at Keeta straight on. That was...a funny story...ahhh.

"Well...you know..." she blushed a little. "I like...throwing them at...moving targets?" It was always handy to have a spare in her pocket for particularly enticing targets. But it sounded so naughty and childish saying it outloud, though. She looked at her pale hands and held them up, laughing.

Under her fingernails was dirt from digging around in her pockets. She had lots of stuff there. Some of her gardening had made it into her pockets too.

Keeta raised an eyebrow at Amena's admission and then glanced at her hands as she held them up. Smirking, Keeta held up similar fingernails from working in her own backyard garden. A green thumb was one of the few things she had inherited from her elven bloodline.

"Looks like we have more in common than we thought. Although before we talk plants I have to know what sort of moving targets you mean." Keeta chuckled as she finished her sentence.

Joel was finished with his juice for the moment and wandered over towards Amena, showing real interest in her for the first time since they came in the room.

"Hi!" he said waving enthusiastically. He repeated himself as he got closer.

"Hi!" Hi was a word he knew very well and he liked to say it a lot now that he was talking.

Camille was silent again studying the balloon. How could something so small hold water?

"Mostly friends," she said, smiling. Mostly Silver, really. She really liked climbing trees and letting them drop onto his head. "Momma Imbri hates it, though..." which, in all honesty, made it more fun...

She looked at Joel as he spoke to her. He was smaller than her, so she bent down to come to eye level (although she knew this probably wouldn't last too much longer, so she relished it while it lasted).

"Hi!" she repeated, waving back at him. "Amena!" she continued, pointing at herself.

"Ah, well do me a favor and don't hit me with any, if we start seeing each other more often," she said with a laugh, "because I'm pretty sure Camille will be pegging me with my fair share as she gets older."

"A'na" Joel said, giggling and trying to repeat the strange word the lady had said. "Hi!" he said once more. Keeta chuckled.

"He's been really fond of that word ever since he learned it. I just hope he doesn't attach to 'no' in that manner."

Well, if Miss Keeta reeaallly didn't want her to, she supposed she had plenty of other targets.

Amena pulled her hand out of her robe pocket, where she had been fiddling anxiously with another spare balloon. Ah well.

She smiled and nodded, knowing what Keeta meant. When her baby brother learned the word 'no' it had been a very annoying few months. At least 'hi' was amiabley meant.

Still facing Joel, but now addressing Camille, she called to her. "Would you like to see how it works?" Amena grined an almost myschevious smile. "It's quite fun."

Camille shrugged, looking at Amena, not quite sure how she wanted to answer. The idea of learning how the ballon worked interested her, without a doubt, but it was hard for her to continue to be social.

Keeta watched Camille, waiting for the girl to decide. As an adult parental figure of a small child, the part of her desiring control and orderliness wanted to intervene and ask Amena not to introduce the girl to this kind of mischief. However, Keeta couldn't deny that Amena was getting Camille to respond in ways that others had failed and it would be wrong to interfere with helping Camille come out of her shell. Fighting herself, she chose to stay back and see what happened. Her attention began to waiver anyways, as Joel decided to move on to the next thing of interest. That thing just happened to be the door to the back area and Keeta went scurrying up behind him, trying to redirect him to someplace else in the room that would get him in less trouble.

Amena sensed Keeta's apprehension. She supposed that she wouldn't like it if someone was teaching her child something myschevious (or maybe she would...one never could tell with Amena...).

The little Porcelain woman projected some caution to Camille. Of course, Camille was only to use the awesome fun of water ballons in the outdoors, and on things like trees and big rocks, not people, naturally.

...Her thoughts strayed briefly strayed to chucking the balloons at Silver and her friend Ichigo, and she guarded the thought, hoping Camille didn't realize what kind of nefarious things you could do with portable water.

"Trees. Only trees," she repeated outloud. "Not mommies."

Amena tried not to step too close to Camille, sensing that she still felt uneasy, and instead focused some attention on Joel. Instinctivly, she touched her belly. She wondered if her baby would be as curious and active as Keetas. Joel looked like a handful, but Amena thought it was quite endearing.

Camille's eyes opened wide as she received the projections, indicating what it was that one did with water balloons. She blinked and sat silently for a moment as she processed this. You used them to throw water at things. The lady was just pretending, right?

"Really?" Camille asked, her voice slightly higher pitched with excitement, allowing herself to hope a little. She watched as the lady put a hand on her belly. She wasn't very old, but she understood the concept of babies in tummies, although she still didn't know how they got there....

"You have baby?" she asked, pointing.

Keeta had managed to corral Joel and was now trying to redirect him to the toys on the opposite end of the room. She picked up several different things, trying to interest him in at least one of them. He finally decided the bead slider was entertaining for the moment, and Keeta sighed with relief. She stood next to him, watching Camille and Amena.

Amena nodded emphatically. "Really!" After all, what else would such wonderfulness like transportable water be for?? Well...she supposed you could use them to water things or maybe clean up messes by tossing them on it, but that seemed a little odd, and certainly a waste of a good balloon.

She looked up, not realizing she had put her hand on her tummy.

"Oh! yes," she said, answering Camille. "Very soon!" she hoped, anyway. Her back hurt all the time, now. "How old are you?" she asked. Camille didn't look very old, but at 4 feet, Amena imagined she didn't look that old either. "Do you like living with Miss Keeta and Joel?"

Camille smiled at hearing about the baby, but then her expression turned rather blank at the question about her age. It wasn't really something that she knew. She hadn't been "born" in the same way her brother had, but she'd been with Keeta for a little while now. Helplessly she shrugged at Amena's first question, but she answered the other one in her quiet voice.

"Mommy is nice, but so was the other lady who helped me come here. She made it so mommy would find me. Joel is loud," she said wrinkling her nose slightly.

Keeta came up behind them, having overheard part of the conversation.

"I had actually hoped to find out today how old she was...at least maturity-wise. I figure she's somewhere around three and a half or four..." Keeta said, trying to answer Amena's question as best she could.

Amena nodded. Babies could be very loud, but that was ok, right? They might be loud, but everyone liked babies, cuz they were so cute!

Ooh, so Camille was still a little one too, then. Miss Keeta had her hands quite full!

Amena thought a moment. She had been brought to Gaia from her world by 'uncle' Tsukiba, who she imagined was like the 'other lady' who had brought Camille to Miss Keeta. "My Tsukiba brought me here, from another world. He's gone now, but Setsushi has taken over the shop." She rocked back on her heels a little. "Gaia is a nice place. Mommah Imbri took good care of me, and now look! I've got my own home and a baby on the way." Amena certainly wouldn't have had that sort of chance in her old world.

"I certainly hope I can provide an upbringing that will allow those things for my children....." Keeta said thoughtfully. "And yes Gaia is nice, but sometimes I wonder if I ever should have left my homeland." She glanced at Imbri, curious.

"So...was it your choice to come here, or how did that happen?" Keeta knew very little about the Porcelin and wanted to know more, so she could better understand them.

"I'm sure you can!" Amena said, smiling brightly.

It dimmed a little at Keeta's question. "Well...I was very little when it happened, so I guess I didn't really have much of a choice." She fell silent. She would have come here anyway, though.

A quick succession of feelings and images passed from Amena's head to Keeta's. When Amena was little, the place she came from wasn't a good place for her kind. The humans of her world were enslaving the porcelains and so Tsukiba has squirreled them away to a better life.

She had been back once, after she had grown up and helped some Porcelains who were fighting back.

So no, to answer Miss Keeta, Amena hadn't had a choice, but she had benifited from being taken away from her home world.

Keeta frowed as the images came to her. What kind of place would do that? She was grateful that nothing like slavery had existed in Evin, and that it didn't exist here. Amena was right to be grateful to have come here.

"Is it still that way where you come from? The Porcelain are still enslaved there? That was brave of you to go to fight and try to help others. At least your child won't have to worry about that here."

Amena shook her head. No, lots of things had happened since they had last been there, and it wasn't like that anymore. It was almost like a new world, actually.

What was Miss Keeta's world like?

User ImageOy...These past weeks have been something else. Planning a wedding and being the mother of two children is really draining on me. And I'm slowly ending up being the mother of three. Natalia is becoming more and more my reponsibility lately. I know I should have expected this, but it's still hard. I went to the clinic intending to talk to Luna, hoping she could help me sort myself out, but I ended up getting into a conversation with the Porcelin, Amena, instead. Oh well, perhaps another time.

Rhine seems to step to the side when it comes to parenting Natalia, unless I come to a situation I don't know how to deal with. It seems Natalia has these sudden bouts of anger that control her that have to do with the island's influences. This scares me! If I have anything to do with it Natalia will spend as much time away from the island as is safe and practical. I don't like the influences it has on her. I do wish Rhine would help me out more though. I appreciate that he is giving me the room to be a parent with Natalia, but when Ceres and Sky go and Rhine and I are married, I will expect him to participate in parenting Natalia as much as I am. After all, he will be doing that for Joel and Camille.

Which reminds me! Rhine wasn't the least bit upset about Camille which I am extremely grateful for. I think the only hangup he had was figuring out how to add a wall in the new building, so they could have seperate bedrooms. I told him he didn't need to do that, but he insisted. Camille is incredibly shy and is still taking time to get used to Rhine, or any new person for that matter. It's becoming pretty routine that she will hide behind me whenever she experiences something unfamiliar. I really hope she outgrows it, because goodness knows I can't stay with her when I send her to kindergarten.

I worry that I'm to blame for her shyness. She's so much like the painting...I can't help but wonder whether things that happened to the painting had an effect on her. It was left in the dark in the closet for a long time...I suppose there's no use in blaming myself for something I can't prove. I took Camille to the shop I got the painting from and the owner told me a bit about what it is that she does, but she never said anything one way or the other about the way the painting had been treated. What she did say was that Camille may start to express special abilities or magic as time goes on. It should be interesting to see how that develops. I'm sure I haven't seen the last of that woman.

I volunteered myself to host a birthday part for Natalia (and Joel, although I doubt he'll care much, young as he is). I did it as a way to distract her from having Rhine and I marry for her birthday. It's a sweet idea, but I'm not ready to rush into this. It's already been fast. She wants a music theme, which was suggested by Rhine. I can't decide if I should kiss him or kick him for that. It's a great idea, but the noise level will be rediculous. I suppose all that matters though is that Natalia is happy. She's helping me plan things, which I think is good for her. It allows us to have some quality time together and for me to get to know her.

We've decided to invite the other children in my neighborhood, as well as invite any other children of the GMFC. Natalia doesn't have any friends yet it seems, other than my family and her own. I only hope some friendships will develop for her out of this. We're going to have it at the park, where hopefully we can make as much noise as we want and no one will care. Plus, if a lot of people show up, not everyone will fit at my place.

It seems Natalia has never experienced something like a birthday party. I wonder if there's a reason for that? Either way, I'm trying to fill that void that's being created in her life. And it's even harder knowing why I'm doing that. I'm seeing less and less of Ceres for that very reason. She just hasn't had the energy to visit like she used to. I wonder how much longer she'll last, and if she'll be able to make it to the party. I worry Natalia won't enjoy herself if Ceres and Sky aren't there.

Well I suppose that's all I've got time to write tonight. (It seems every time I write more and more!) It's been a long day and I'm already going through my mental checklist of what I have to do tomorrow, not the least of the things being going shopping for a wedding dress. I'd really like to surpise Rhine with something special. Anyways, until next time,

Keeta
