"Auze..." Twilla began quietly, but her voice was unwavering and firm. "Jester and I... We are together, now. He is my mate." She was very forward with the mus, as she was most of the time.
The past couple of hours with Jester were the first times she had been unsure of what to do or say, but she seemed to get back into the swing of old routines right away.
His response, though, alarmed her somewhat. He didn't hiss or shout or anything. He just sat there and scowled.
"Alright."

Jester nearly fell over at the simple response from the companion. He honestly had been expecting, something. But he was pleasantly surprised by how well Auze took this news. Then realizing what Twilla had said he nearly fell over again...mate.
What a word that is, he knew the implications that went along with it. But never had he guessed he would be called such by another. Mate, he thought about it, and the more he did the more he liked the word.
Leaning closer to Twilla so that their sides were touching gently, in silent assurance of her presence next to him.

"Auze get breath air in him." The mus replied and nodded to Twilla, but completely ignored the bard.
"Be careful... You wouldn't want to end up someone's snack..." Twilla warned quietly.
"Righ'..." With that, the mus's tail disappeared outside of the tree.
"Well... I guess he took it okay..." She sighed and the secure tone that she had left her. "He'll get over it, for sure..."

Jester felt a bit crestfallen knowing he was ignored by the Mus. "Are you sure?" he inquired to Twilla, concerned.
He didn't want Auze to resent him because of this or anything Jester did. Leaning to Twilla and rubbing his cheek on hers gently. He was suddenly filled with the desire to display his affection. Attempting to swallow back the song that threatened to fall from his beak. He knew he couldn't keep it down forever, but didn't want it just yet.

"Yeah, I am..." Twilla replied, but felt and heard the uncertainty in her own voice. "It will just take some time..." She returned the affectionate rub, then moved towards the exit. She poked her head out to check on him, justin case.
The mus was hiding inconspicuously in the upper branches, but even that made her somewhat nervous.
"He'll be fine..." She repeated as she moved back inside. She gave a sharp nod, as if to verify what she said. Everything was happening so fast and it made her dizzy, but she was determined not to let her worry or her newfound love cloud her judgement.

Taking a good look around at the interior of Twilla's willow. "It's lovely in here." Jester tried to take her mind off her worry for her companion, in truth he was worried too. "I can see why you love this tree so much, its wonderfully spacious!"
Making himself comfortable, and preening a feather or two. Watching Twilla with wide eyes. He swallowed hard again, keeping the song at bay.

"Hmm? Oh. Yeah, I do love it here. Had to put up a good fight to win it." She gave him a broad wink and a nod. Outwardly, it appeared that her worries had vanished.
"How is your territory?" She inquired curiously as she waddled nearer to the bard.

"It's um..." Jester absentmindedly drew a circle with a talon, "it's a great old pine tree. A bit cramped for space, but I could show it to you sometime if you'd like."
He really would have rather not visit his 'hole in the tree' as he called it. It wasn't much to speak for but it was home to Jester. He wondered something, and paused a moment to think it over.
"Twilla, where would you prefer me to stay? There or here?" he in quired softly.

"Well..." She thought this over for a moment and watched his circular talon patterns.
"I was hoping that in the future... Here... Now might be a tad bit too soon... I would like to see your pine, though, if it is alright with you."

Jester was comforted by this. Not that he didn't want to stay with her, but he wanted it to happen slowly and naturally. The simple fact that he had asked to court her was enough for one day.
"I'd be happy to show you!." Jester finished his silly pattern of circles and leaped to the door. Looking up slightly for the Mus he knew was hiding somewhere above. "Do you think Auze would like to come too Twilla?" he asked giving his tail feathers a stretch.

At his question, Twilla faultered slightly. Auze and she fought...
Alot...
But she had never seen him so frustrated that he would not want to spout a few choice words from his limited vocabulary.
"He might, if you ask him nicely."

Glancing up further into the willow, Jester tried to find the perfectly hidden mus. "Auze?! Auze would you like to join us for a look at my home?"
Jester wanted to be friends with Auze, having no companion of his own. He wanted so much to get on the mus's good side. It didn't seem it was working at the moment.

"No, now. Mehlater." Came a very brief, simple reply from the ar reaches of the willow. Auze was nestled comfortably and had a nut firmly placed in his paws. He gnawed on it, while watching the ongoings below.

Jester turned to Twilla, silently asking if it was alright to leave the companion alone. His pine wasn't to far but the dark Sentinel may not want to leave the mus alone for that long. Not that anything would find the cleverly hidden companion, Jester couldn't even locate him amongst the branches.
"Alright Auze." Jester called upwards. "We won't be gone to long."

"You might want to go inside, soon, too, Auze..." Twilla voiced worriedly after Jester had finished speaking.
She then gave the bard a nod, showing that she was ready to head off.
