Also, in 1967, USMC GySgt Carlos Hathcock achieved a combat kill at a range of 2,286 metres using a slightly modified Browning M2. This record was broken in 2002 by Cpl Rob Furlong, a Canadian Forces sniper equipped with a McMillan TAC-50; his kill was carried out at a range of 2,430 metres.
