Gaddwick turned from the Arron and Neko to Jack and Collete. "Well since Arron seems a bit 'engaged' are either of you up for a bit of practice? I could use a little myself."

Aaron turns at the sound of his name. "It's okay, I doubt they know what you're talking about. But sure, I don't see why not." He pulls out a Stylerball.

(Jack and Strawberry, please stop OOC-ing so much. I consider it spam. Thank you)

((OoC: You may want to create another topic for practice battles like this. We wouldn't want to clutter the HQ with occasional battles. Or you could leave it here and then it becomes more accessible to commentators aka. other rangers.))

"You feel up to it Arron? I wasn't expecting you to accept. We better take this outside then. We don't want to trash the place." The two left to an outdoor arena.

In back of the Headquarters was a basic outdoor arena. The grass was marked with regulation stadium markings for both single battles and 2 vs 2. A disused old wooden scoreboard was set up on the side closest to the HQ. Gaddwick stood in the far trainers box which was little more than a rectangle etched into the grass.

"Alright Arron!" Gadd called across the arena. "How about we go with 3 Pokemon each under standard Kanto league regulations? Do you accept the terms?"

((That may come in time, but for now it's not needed.))

The scoreboard digitizes into flashy lights and petty colors, for generators appear at the boundaries of the corners and generate a lake with icebergs placed strategically across the waters. "were in the technology age are we not?" Aaron smiles as the field materializes into existence.

Aaron laughs. "Are you sure you're up to this?" He jests, already knowing the answer. He is then astonished, "Which rule set are Kanto?" He asks, seriously not knowing.

"As ready as I'll ever be. Besides I might learn a thing or two even if you best me." He pulled a Stylerball from his belt and floated it in midair.

"The Kanto rule-set is simple.
-One Pokemon for each trainer is allowed on the field at a time.
-You may not capture your opponents Pokemon.
-If a Pokemon leaves the arena for any reason and does not return within 30 seconds is eliminated.
-A Pokemon who does not move for 3 minutes due to paralysis, freezing, or other affliction is eliminated.
-Pokemon who refuse to fight are eliminated.
-A trainer may not leave the dueling platform for any reason or they forfeit the match.
-Points are not awarded in the standard rule-set.
-The winner is decided by whoever eliminates all of his opponents Pokemon."

"Do you understand Aaron?"

"I don't see why not." Aaron smirks as he pulls out a Stylerball. The contents were unknown to him, for he hadn't labeled them as to which Pokemon they were. A huge mistake on his part. He throws the ball.

The contents explode onto the iceberg on his side of the field. Absol.

"OKay Absol, let's take 'em down." Aaron cheers as he eagerly waited for Gadd's Pokemon.

Gadd's Stylerball fell unsteadily into his hand. Was Aaron throwing them out at random. He couldn't read any thought in that choice of Pokemon. Perhaps he was somehow shielding his mind. Gadd hoped that the later was true and threw out his Porygon. The Pokemon spun about in the air before seeming to lock onto Absol. The different colors on its shell blinked wildly for a second before they blackened and solidified.

The board lit up with the stats of both Trainers and their Pokemon before flashing a bright. "TRAINERS BEGIN!" across the board.

Immediately, as if trained, Absol creates a clone of itself with double team. It then proceeds to circle Porygon rapidly, mapping out its strengths and weaknesses.

"So. Yoiu can't read my mind, can you?" Aaron taunted while Absol became but a blur.

"Your mind is like an open book." Gadd retorted. "Then again. You are quite a ways away so I can't make out the fine print. Porygon, Lock On."

Porygon spun in the air for a moment before settling on one of the clones following its every move exactly. The effect would have been dizzying on any other Pokemon but with Porygon's data based roots it managed to keep up just fine.

As this was happening Gadd flipped open his Pokedex. Embarrassing as it was he was unfamiliar with the opposing Pokemon and had never seen one before.

"Nicely played." Aaron congratulated. "Except you need to be able to act before your opponent." he smirked as Absol disappeared into his surrounding. "Faint Attack." Aaron smiled as Absol appeared behind Porygon, ramming into it with its sword like head.

Porygon wobbled in the air for a moment before falling down into the icy water and sinking. Gadd though slightly startled didn't look worried. In fact he looked as if he were expecting the move.

"Striking first doesn't always lead to victory. Tactics are equally as important. Striking a Dark Pokemon with a Dark attack isn't nearly as effective as say a bug type move. Porygon! Signal Beam!"

Porygon quickly surfaced and fired a red and green beam into the Absom. Afterwards the Pokemon quickly re-submerged.

Absol doesn;t have time to dodge and gets hit straight on. "Those who attack first sometimes have the advantage of the environment." Aaron smiles again as Absol gets thrown onto a near iceberg.

Absol slowly gets to its feet. The horn on the goat's head starts glowing an ominous electric yellow as a thunder attack is released into the watery depths, frying anything beneath the surface.

Porygon immediately shoots out of the water panels blinking rapidly as its integral circuits went haywire. The Pokemon spun rapidly and fell the the Ice with a thud. It would need a complete reboot before fighting again. Gadd cringed as he recovered his Pokemon. One of the icons on the scoreboard turned off signaling the defeat of one of his Pokemon.

Gadd grit his teeth and threw another Stylerball out onto the field releasing Snorlax. The Iceberg bobbed in the water for a moment sending ripples out all over the field. The Pokemon struggled with the ice for a moment before it balancing itself and preparing for the next attack.

Aaron say the oversized Pokemon. "Does this mean I have to switch out too?" he asked.
