I think Portal's meant to be disturbing. It's psychological. And the insanity is turned up to 11 when you ponder the possibility that Chell may actually be dead. At the very least, I think the game is like a metaphor for someone being trapped in a purgatory. The attempts at humor are to lower your defenses for when the game turns you around and takes it up to brown town.
I still like Dragon Age though. To be fair, the attitude that has your character spouting one-liners does get very old after just.... a few minutes, actually. But that's only one of many attitudes. Personally I prefer the one that just has your character give a guttural grunt before disemboweling someone.

-w- THAT, my love, is co-op mode. A side mode that has (almost) nothing to do with the real story.
That said, I'm not much into co-ops. I'm into the puzzles and curious mysteries of the actual game. I'm a person who's fairly critical of graphics, audio, and story for games outside my normal genres, as that's all I can work with. I don't deal well with the quick reaction times necessary for combat games, thanks to my heart condition. There IS a reason I rarely take to any games outside the genre of Pokemon or Harvest Moon. I simply can't handle the stress; it literally makes me sick.
Mass Effect has enough laid-back combat I could probably handle it, and the story is engaging and (fairly) straightforward. I can't figure out DA for the life of me. And trust me, I have TRIED.

*looks up power ranger costumes at Party City website* ok that isn't fair, why do they only have Mighty Morphin's Pink Ranger in adult size but the rest of Mighty Morphin are for ki... wait never mind, they have the Red Ranger ^^ all is well... why does his morpher have the pterodactyl?

Yeah, I do like me some scary horror games but lately I've been in a Fire Emblem, FF Tactics, Pokemon rut. XD
