I'm not going to ask, Gion replied, though he had his own suspicions. Either we'll find out or we won't. Maybe he'll be a little less muddled when he's a little more awake.
He headed outside to find the stash of canteens, wondering if he should go back in for breakfast or not. He had enough food that he could eat on the trip, and to be quite honest, he wasn't sure if he wanted to bear with Ulrich in a mood like that.

Okay... that's probably would be for the best. He might not be happy having us ask him. Daemon commented, though he always thought Ulrich was normally upbeat.

Gion shrugged inwardly and headed out towards the river.
I just hope that whatever it is, it gets better, he thought sadly. I've never seen him like this. And I've never heard of Ulani sleeping in past sunrise.

I hope we didn't catch them at a bad time. Daemon tried to think of a reason for this, even if perhaps today was an aniversery for some large event. He surely hoped not, it would have been a bad time to come then.

Gion shrugged again. Not that I know of, he thought slowly, slipping down the riverbank to get the canteens from beneath the dock, where he knew they would have been stored. And they were fine yesterday ...
The more he thought about it, the more worried he became.

It was strange that now Daemon really thought about it, though he wasn't sure what to make of it.
Well.... if they really want to, they'll tell us, as long as they'll be fine in the end...

I'm sure they will be, Gion thought reassuringly. He started collecting the canteens and putting them in his bag.
So where first? he asked, changing the subject. Plantation or castle?

Hmmmm..... good question, how about the Plantation? Since Nadya's gift is far more reaching than mine and I can't seem to tell the difference between dream and vision sometimes. She might have something else we could tell your grandmother.
Daemon suggested, nothing about the future no, but since Nadya was probably still keeping an eye on Elnara, she would have something else to say.

Gion grinned. Sounds like a good idea, he agreed. Maybe we could travel along the coast, then. Not as hot, it's by the water, and we don't have to worry about food. Besides, it's been a long time since we traveled along the coast, we normally take the inland routes because they're shorter.
They would have to be careful of the cliffs, but other than that the dangers were minimal. No humans in that area. Ever.

Hmm... true and it would be nice to glance at them again. Besides, it means less confrontation on our part which is a bonus despite the time it would take.
Daemon added as well, he liked the idea, even though the coast made him edgy at times, it was still a good idea.

We'll be a good distance from the water itself, don't worry, Gion assured his friend. And really, it's not that far out of the way, it would only take maybe two or three extra days - although, if it's cooler along the coast than it would be in the desert, we could actually save time by traveling faster, longer days.
He smiled. And yes, fewer confrontations is always good.

Good point, cooler is nice. Even though Daemon couldn't feel heat perse, but even he was sure an elf could suffer heatstroke if pushed to the limits.

As Gion crawled out from beneath the dock, bag over his shoulder, he had another thought.
I wonder what auras everyone back home has, he mused. If anyone has threads ...

Hmm.. .that's a good question, I'm sure some people have threads.... I can't say about auras though. I don't know your family that well... not like you do.
Daemon replied back.

Well, apparently I don't know them as well as I thought I did either, Gion replied drily. I honestly didn't expect them to react to Elnara the way they did. Besides, I'm sure they would have changed by now. It's been a long time, after all.
He headed back into the house and back towards the kitchen, careful to be quiet so as not to disturb Ulani's rest.
