Orrin wasn't nobody's fool. He made sure he wasn't going to freeze atall. Several layers of shirts, followed by sweaters, followed at last by the white parka snowgear of everyone else led him to look like a very fat bipedal upright seal.
He almost waddled down the hallways, checking in with rendezvous to see what was first on the agenda. Being inquisitive, and curious to learn the wasteland as good as possible, he signed up on the first possible tauntaun patrol. But first, he had to find a tauntaun that liked him.
The first one liked his scarf, and nearly bit off Orrin's head. The second decided to nibble on his parka, the third attempted to claw him. All the while, Orrin muttered something about how speeders would be so much more useful...

"A-Wing?" Kefka laughed. "Those speeding deathtraps? There aren't any with us man," Kefka said as he sat down in the lounge and opened the minifridge which wasn't very well stocked.

"All ready did. Manel James. Some call me Ace. A-Wing Pilot." He said as he looked at froozen ceiling of the place then around the lounge."And I was sent in with an A-Wing that i may call my own. But its not really mine, just like i bet your fighters not really yours."

"I brought it with me when assignd here. Anyway the group is much larger than you I hope or I'ma be seeing alot more firends from the academy sooner than I thought." he said grabing up his datapad and going through the squadron rooster."Wow, shes got a pretty face...she really a pilot?" He said looking down on Zendia Starsinger's profile.

Zendia walked into the lounge, where Kefka and another man were at, overhearing the last bit of the conversation. "'Stardust' is some nickname that Kefka here gave me," she commented, indicating him with her thumb. "New pilot for the squad?" she queried, looking the new guy over. "You picked a cold day to come aboard," she laughed, trying to tune out the ever present chill of Echo Base.

He gave her a smile."I'm Manel James. Guys back at the academy call me Ace." Manel said and presented his gloved hand out towards her."And what do you pilot?"

Zendia took the offered hand in friendship. "Good to meet you, Ace", making note of the nickname. "And yes, as Kefka says, we're all X-wing pilots." After a pause, she added, "I can't say I've heard of a 'slim',"
(( This pretty much assumes that not everyone has heard of A-wings at the time. ^^ ))
