Looking up the information, I wasn't crazy, 1/3 of women giving birth last year DID have c-sections. =O

Apparently VBAC is on the decline, I'm not sure why that would be.

Here are a couple I found just now, Syll: hope they can help you!

Thanks Dirge, I will definatly check those out. From what little I have read so far I have found the whole on the decline thing too. I guess the big worry is of uterin (sp?) rupture (it can be quite dangerous for both the mom and baby I guess) but from what I have read if they monitor closely and catch it quickly then everything usually works out okay. I have found for sure that the Toledo Hospital (about an hour from me) will do VBAC's. I didn't find anything about the hospital here in town so it makes me wonder that they don't. OKay off to check out the links! Thanks again!!

I'm praying I take after my mother and pop 'em all out the way they're meant to! My aunt had 3 C-sections and then was told she shouldn't have any more children. I think I'd be rather upset if I was told I didn't have the opportunity to have more.

I got my insurance paperwork signed and thankfully, there's a few local hospitals who may take me. I'll be calling a few next week to arrange my first checkup. 21 weeks, I think I'm a little overdue for a consultation. I'm feeling very anxious and stressed.

My sister is a couple of weeks further along than me and had a 3 hour checkup last week because they were afraid that her baby was not growing as quickly as it should be. I'm not sure exactly what turned up, but she says that they're both okay.

Oh believe me, there's all sorts of scares people go through whilst pregnant. While I'm grateful for the medical technology, the worry sometimes is killer. Because of a dumb u/s tech, I got nervous about a chorid plexus cyst.

Yeah VBACs can be hard to fight for. Of course, ultimately, the goal is a safe and healthy baby, but I think sometimes they don't give women a chance after one c-section for a VBAC. I don't think though it's an "unnatural" way to have kids, I know it's mainly the hard recovery women go through after a c-section.

Syl-----Wow im suprised your pregnant again only because I got a lecture about the instability of my uterus from having the csection and was told not to get pregnant for 2 yrs because of an increased risk of rupture during pregnancy.
Question for everyone since im not sure where to put it. I have endo and adometriosis which ive known about since i had eric its painful but no biggie. While ive been in HORRID pain all the time even between periods so i went to the gyn to get checked out. So she examins me and is all "when's the last time you had sex ?" and i laughed so hard i swear i almost fell off the table i managed to get out "less than a month shy of a year"... her face got like super serious and said that my uterus was still half way between my pubic bone and belly button and had "suspicious spots" so i have to have a ton of blood work and ultra sounds but she thinks its fibroids or tumors. Has anyone else had this. Im so scared that its like cancer and ive been in so much pain it literally took me a half hour to actually get up. I had to call my mom for help with the baby cause i couldnt stand straight. And i keep getting fevers too.So any info or advice you have i could really use.

@Syl - Try checking into local midwives. I'm not sure where you're at, but a lot of midwives, particularly those involved in homebirth, at least where I'm at, are very strong advocates for VBAC. They tend to shy away from medical intervention at all unless it's absolutely necessary, so it may not be something you're comfortable with.

My mom had non-cancerous uterine fibroids which were making her uterus the size of a 5-month pregnant woman and it was pushing on her spine/nerves in her back and giving her sciatica. They had to do a hysterectomy, but she was nearing menopause at the time anyhow.

Good luck, and I hope the tests go quickly/smoothly and that you don't suffer for much longer! What a pain! neutral

Good luck, FYS. Hope all goes well with your appointment, if it came to that (since this post is probably a bit belated now).

@Angelique: That's great. *envies* I don't know what I'm having yet, but I can't see myself actually having a girl--there's just too many boys in this family.

thank you very much, i was afraid that it would happen to me, all boys.... rofl but all boys would be fun too, i think all girls would be kinda scary though....

Congrats Angelique! I know I shouldn't be thinking about it yet but I hope my next one is a girl.

Well, the doc decided to give me until the 16th before inducing. I have another appointment next week and that's when he'll talk to me about what would be best if I don't give birth before then. Until then though, all that's left to do is keep going to the non stress test at the hospital and talking to my little bundle, hoping that'll he'll show himself soon.

On a side note, has anyone here ever been induced? I'm really nervous about the idea, and would rather not have it done if I can avoid it (come on munchkin help me out here!). I know there's a greater chance of having a c-section when you're induced, and that's really what worries me. I want to experience the birth of my son the way it was meant to be experienced.

thank you, good luck on being induced if that's what you decide, that happened with me, and i had to have a c-section because my son was breeched (sp).......it took a lot longer for me to recover because of the c-section, i'm hoping this time 'round i will be able to give birth naturally instead of a c-section.....

News!

My hubby finally got off of his sexy butt and got our insurance paperwork filled out! I have a paperwork night next Wednesday at a local hospital and then I have my first check-up on Friday. My mother in law will be coming with me because I'm really, really nervous.

So by the time I have my checkup, I'll be around 23 weeks. Overdue, in my opinion, but I cannot wait!

i just wanted to say lately i've been having nothing but weird, physicotic dreams, i never recall my dreams this frequently, it's on nightly basis, it's so weird, i'm not sure if it's because i get up and pee every few hours or it's the pregnancy thing.......anyone else out there?
PostPosted: Wed Apr 18, 2007 11:47 am

I have what could be considered 'strange' dreams on a regular basis. But there have been some pregnancy related dreams that have only happened since I became pregnant. It's because the mind is more aware of the pregnancy, and all of the underlying fears and thoughts about my pregnancy are at the very surface of my mind, thus manifest into dreams.

For example, last night I dreamed my stomach was growing very large at a very fast rate. I felt like a balloon blowing up. I awoke to find myself clutching my tummy.
