"Avatar Jonathan Helmsborough. Look around you," the man of metal spoke, ignoring Joe. "Do you see her? Do you feel her presence? Where is she?"
"She's dead," Helmsborough repeated.
"And who killed her?" the man prompted. "Who do you hate more than anything for killing her?"
Helmsborough muttered something.
"What was that?" the metallic man asked.
"Abaddon!!" he screamed. The un-light pouring from the gateway between the chains swallowed Helmsborough, the metallic man, and the dragons. It began to wrap around Helmsborough tightly, making a shadowy figure in his shape.
He stood, slowly moving forward towards them. The chains retracted into his back and the un-light was slowly sucked into Helmsborough's mouth. He was in his normal form, but a cursory glance with a third eye would show him as he was before, torn apart, his face an eternal silent, screaming visage, a few tears now in his eyes.
"By your hate of me, I am once again your master," a voice somewhat like Legion's intoned. A flash of insight within Siber's mind allowed him to realize what made Helmsborough compatible for use as Abaddon's avatar - his complete and utter hatred of Abaddon, a hate so strong and all-consuming that only Abaddon himself could be its source, eternally feeding on itself and on Helmsborough's tortured soul to grow.

Joe fell back a step. "Siber," he muttered urgently. "Unless we get some backup, we might need to fall back. Unless you've got another plan?" He glanced from Siber to the enraged Avatar quickly.

"Well, I have one, but I don't have any way of ensuring it would be easily carried out right now. Terpsichore just closed my only method, and I have to do some negotiating. So yeah, as long as Abaddon is intent on immortalizing this guy, let's get out for now. On a side note, why are we trying to kill this guy, anyway?" Orders from a human as savage as either Legion or Abaddon? Orders given on the spur of the moment? Orders given by someone who wasn't showing up?

As Abaddon advanced on them, Siber's observation became obvious - Joshua was rather conspicuously absent, and had been for quite some time.

Joe nodded. "I'm with you. Let's haul some a**." He glanced at the approaching Avatar. "You know, that's a good question. I think best when I'm running the hell away from killer entities. Care to join me?"

Joe heard in his mind. Abaddon's avatar twitched and stood still briefly.
"I am going to rip your intestines out from your stomach and feed them to you," were the words Helmsborough spoke.

"But my intestines aren't in my st-"
Siber sighed, shook his head, and sped away with a "Sure," to Joe, who followed, albeit at a hesitant pace. "Something on your mind? Besides almost being torn to shreds by an anatomically confused deity?" He constantly looked backwards to check for enemy fire and was murmuring the chant for Centauri under his breath the whole while. Just in case. Heading for a row of buildings, he slipped into a back alley and cautiously opened his third eye, watching Helmsborough's twisted form through the buildings.

Abaddon/Helmsborough cheerily informed Siber, looking directly at him and raising his hands.
Siber felt the mana blast before he saw it, a steadily and quickly advancing red and black sphere melting everything around it; he had perhaps two seconds before it would reach him.

Siber heard the joking tone in the avatar's voice and gasped as a smile lit his features. The very fact that someone else was willing to treat this like a game reenergized him completely, and he pulled Centauri around himself like a cloak before snatching Joe by an arm and leaping up in the air to deposit Joe on a window ledge, watching the fiery mess beneath him. From above, he carved a gyroscope in the sky. Had he heard what Joe had heard, perhaps he would have put his forces to better use. But he hadn't. What is this? Centauri asked in wonder. It feels like something completely different from before. Siber grinned wickedly, spying his adversary where he stood. This is me, playing a game. He could feel the course of Svadhistana open up within him and poured his being into the third-level of that chakra, a translucent, gray lesser panda that sat on his shoulder. White cherub's wings sprouted from its back and it looked at Siber curiously. You're a fun one, it offered before hopping off. Siber let himself glide down in a cutting spiral, curling in Centauri's non-wings to fire off a spear of wood before unfurling them and flipping into a dive with his sword ready for Helmsborough.

Joe raised an eyebrow in slight confusion. He heard both the mental and the verbal prompts from Helmsborough. Siber pulled him along and he went, but his mind was elsewhere. It was only when he found himself stranded on a ledge that he realized what was really happening. He stood and looked down on the combat. "Helmsborough!" he called. "Is that your real name?" A series of innocent questions would be perfect for obtaining that data Joe needed. He had no choice but to trust Helmsborough; what other choice was there?

"You think Helmsborough is the kind of name I'd choose for the hell of it?" the Avatar shot back as he used chains from the sleeves of his once-again-whole shirt to catch Centauri's projectile, spin it, and launch it into Siber's path. "A good play, but a projectile to me just means ammo!" he called out to Siber.

Joe raised an arm and blew the wooden spear out of the air without turning his head. He kept his attention on Helmsborough. "OK, so you're Jonathan Helmsborough," he said. "No need for the sarcasm. So, Jonathan Helmsborough, where ya from?" He fired a few blindingly bright balls of fire, just to maintain interest in the fight as Siber and Helmsborough mostly dueled amongst themselves.

"Why, none other than the Heart of Darkness," he replied as his sword emerged from his back, tearing a hole in his shirt. He grabbed it and prepared to deflect Siber's attack.

Joe shot a mental message to Siber. Shield your eyes. The balls of fire hit the ground with an absolutely blinding, dazzling flash. Joe had his own eyes covered and he jumped down while the Avatar was disabled. "Now now," he called. "I meant before this whole 'Avatar' thing of yours."

"Hey, thanks!" Siber called, watching the spear go spinning away. It snapped in two and circled back to the avatar, now coming from opposite sides. He heard Joe's warning, then, and decided to ignore it. Instead, he spun in the air, dancing out of the way of fireballs such that the flash of light went off while his back was turned. He used the spinning motion to launch a series of blows on the avatar as the two spears reached their target. "Come on, Johnny-John-John, answer his question," he said. It was clear Joe was getting at something.
