lol, well it's been rougher on the wife then me with the sleep.(I slept in a different room last night.) Every couple hours he has to be fed. We've been living our life on his schedule for the last two days, doing our shopping and stuff in between his feedings when he naps. My wife's mom is with us right now so that really helps and I get the next ten days off or so for paternity leave, yay!

Congrats on becoming a parent, Kowsauni. Also, sorry to hear about everyone else's things that are giving them grief and yay for the people at magfest. Hm, been thinking about poking through the training arena thing. Shinon's at 80 exp right now, It'd be a cool thing to get him to the next level.

However, I confess I am muchly stupid and don't understand how to use the worksheet in google docs when referring to opponents and how to calculate all the other stuff... -sweatdrop- Like, yeah, I get most of the explanation, but if someone could like, give me an actual visual walkthrough would be helpful. (Screenshots if necessary) Or if someone who has my skype can help, that'd be cool, too. Not right now, though, I am going to bed soon since it is almost 11 PM and I am still ill myself.

Sorry to be a bother if I do come off as completely ignorant, I simply have a weird learning curve that sometimes text-based instructions don't always comprehend in my brain 100% of the time.

Anyway, that's about it. Peace out for now, peeps~

-Shinon/Mandi.

As requested, here is a visual guide to participating in the regular arena. If you have any questions or want me to add anything to this, quote me/PM me/Skype me.

Just to let you know that you can only battle in the arena 5 times per day irl. Which characters you use doesn't mater. All fights count towards your total.

Step 1: Getting an opponent
-----֗ Your first post will decide who you're fighting. You need to roll two 10-sided dice as pictured below. It helps to state which rank you'll be challenging.
Note: There are fees for the different ranks so be sure you have enough money to challenge foes.
User Image

-----֗ Now that you got your first set of numbers, it's time to figure out what they mean. The first number determines the opponent's class while the second one is their level.
User Image

-----֗ In this post click show spoiler button to reveal the tier list for whichever rank you're challenging. Find the number matching the first one you rolled to determine your opponent's class.
User Image

Step 2: Fighting the opponent
-----֗ Now that you know who you'll be up against, you'll have to gather yours and their stats from the Google doc here. (I'm assuming you know how to find your own stats by now.)

-----֗ At the bottom of the page you'll see a bunch of tabs, make sure you are on the "Arena Opponent Sheet." In the giant cell under Level, put the second number you rolled earlier. At the very top in column D, you find the unpromoted classes drop down list. Click the little triangle to show the list. From there select your opponent's class.
User Image

-----֗ You're going to want to remember the numbers in the far right column. These are the stats you'll be using in the duel.
User Image

-----֗ Next you'll be making another post using the exact same dice as before. In this new post you'll want to type out yours and the opponent's info; level, class, weapon, and stats.
User Image

-----֗ The first number in the set is your attack roll. The second one is your opponent's attack roll.

-----֗ The bronze weapons are Bronze Sword, Bronze Lance, Bronze Axe, Bronze Bow, Fire, Thunder, Wind, Worm, Light, Beaststone, and Dragonstone.

Step 3: Determining who won
-----֗ Math isn't always fun, but thankfully this equation is the same for all regular battles.

Your damage = (Your die roll)+(Your STR/MAG stat)-(Opponent's DEF/RES stat) +1 or -1 for weapon triangle advantage/disadvantage if applicable.
Opponent's damage = (Opponent's die roll)+(Opponent's STR/MAG stat)-(Your DEF/RES stat) +1 or -1 for weapon triangle advantage/disadvantage if applicable.

Note: Skills do NOT apply in these battles.

-----֗ In order to win the battle you need to do more damage than your opponent in a single attack. If there's a tie, the winner is whoever has the most HP.

Step 4: Claiming the prize
-----֗ If you win the battle, you automatically get 5 exp and double your money back.

-----֗ In addition to that, if your opponent's level was higher than 1 you earn bonus gold and an even larger bonus if they were a higher level than you. For every level over 1 you gain +10 gold. For every level higher than yours, you gain +50 gold as a grand opening special.

For example: You are level 4 and you defeat a level 6 opponent. You will receive 100 gold for winning by default +100 for the opponent being two levels higher than you and +30 for the three levels higher than 1 not counting the ones that are higher than you. So the grand total of gold you would get is 230 gold.

My equation for this would be:
Total gold earned = (fee)*2+(opponent's level - your level)*50+(your level-1)*10
(50)*2+(6-4)*50+(4-1)*10
100+100+30=230 gold

Note: For this equation to work your opponent must be a higher level than you.

-----֗ If the opponent is not a higher level than you, use this equation. Also use this one if you guys are the same level.
Total gold earned = (fee)*2+(opponent's level-1)*10

-----֗ If the opponent is level 1, just double your entrance fee.

Oh I should remind you to subtract the fee from your character's gold total after you make the first post. That way you don't mix up your totals if you win the fight.

To help people out I have decided to make a graph with calculated winnings from each level combatant for the D rank tier for players up to level 10. The value given in the graph already has the entry fee subtracted from it. Just find your character's level on the top and trace down to the level of opponent you are facing and that is exactly what your net profit will be defeating that opponent.

The +50 gold per enemies above your level in the arena will be ending Sunday at 11:59 PM. It will then be solely +10 gold per level above 1 that the enemy is.

For those who took advantage of the extra gold gain in commemoration of the arena, gg.

Okay so I'm aware that 90% of the images in Gift Relay are broken because Imgur has banned Gaia.

I'm looking for a reliable image host as we speak. In the past I have used Tinypic but after awhile those will be deleted. Photobucket was what I used before, unfortunately it resizes some of the images. Tumblr made the character cards look all funky and maybe I'm too dumb to figure out Dropbox, but all I get is links to download the image rather than hotlink it. Right now I'm using Postimg.org, but it's kind of terrible and I don't want to go through uploading all of the images from the past 17 turns.

If you have any suggestions for a better image host, please let me know.

Putting this here to say yea, Shinon will participate in the new boardgame.

On that subject: is there still time to get in some arena training before game start? I really just want to level Shinon up beforehand (he's got 80 exp and so he's close.) and the fact i haven't made the effort to do it yet |D;; Nothing like deadlines to make you kick your a** into gear, hurr. :B

RosesxScythes

I think it might be at least a week before that game starts so if you do the daily arena 5 times a day you should definitely make it to the next level.

Seth and Evelyn will have to wait until Gift Relay ends, which it's only 9 turns away from, before they can join this game. They could probably still reserve their spot. It's just going to take a little more time for the game to start.

Also Rath asked me to GM another game after Gift Relay ends while Game 5 is going on. Anyone have any suggestions for what kind of game they'd like to play? Like a typical route the enemy, fog of war, seize, defeat the boss, survive/defend, create a villager, gift relay?

Kay, thanks Lethe.

Even though I'm not part of the other game you'd host, how about a race?

A blockade map with a bunch of obstacles and traps and enemues barring the way and some goody spots and the first team to either defeat a boss or reach the goal wins? [like, you have the option for trying to defeat the boss to win first or push ahead to the goalline. That gives the diversity and strategy of whether or not to do one thing or the other.]

Idk, just amn interesting suggestion.

Another is a Fog of War one. I hate those maps with a passion myself, but we've not yet had one for a BG yet so it'd be interesting to test out/try?

Hmm, I personally like the idea of a more traditional route the enemy or survive/defend but th that's because I haven't had a chance to play in a more traditional game like that yet.

I guess what I would like to see more then all is a game where we are all on the same team working towards the same goal. I prefer cooperative to competitive. 3nodding
