Mathias reached the top of the creature just as William yelled out to finish it. Mathias was completely covered in viscous gore from his stabbing climb up the side of the creature, and shuddered as he felt is squelching under his armor. He exhaustedly batted aside a few sluggish tentacles that reached for him and lifted his sword high, then brought the point straight down in a two handed stab, driving the blade halfway into the creature. Straightening on wobbly legs and blinking some blood out of his eyes, Mathias yelled as he brought his foot up, then down on the pommel of his sword, driving the blade deeper until the crossguard caught in the thing's flesh.

When Mathias slammed his blade into the beast it gave a last shudder and collapsed. It fell still and began to deflate slightly. Damn, kid's pretty good. Will thought as he looked up at Mathias who stood atop the beast covered in a mixture of his and its blood, his boot atop his sword which was buried to the guard in demon flesh. Here it comes. Slowly a ghostly apparition of the fiend began to rise up out of its corpse. It struggled, pulling its way free, as if its dead flesh was loathe to release it. When enough of it had emerged William summoned the last of his strength and sprinted forward. He threw his sword into the fiends side, leaped atop it as though it were a step, then leaped up atop the beasts back. As he landed he slammed the sheet of parchment with the blood rune drawn on it into the fiend spirit's "body". The rune began to pull the fiend in, drawing it out of its corps and into the parchment. It took a moment and then the spirit was entirely absorbed, trapped behind the rune drawn on the paper. "Damn." William said. "I am glad that's over. And I am not looking forward to the ride back to the village. But we might as well head out now, before we all pass out." William slid down the fiends side, drew his sword out of it, wiped it down and sheathed it. Then he began shuffling his way out of the cave. "C'mon, guys. Let's get the hell out of here."

Kiro whipped his katana quickly to get most the blood off of them and then sheathed them. "Was a pretty big fish." He said as he motioned to leave with Mathias and William.

Mathias managed to wrench his sword free of the creature after a few hard tugs. He felt woozy and exhausted, but stooped to pick up his shield and trudge, shoulders slumped, towards the cave exit," oh...my...need to sleep for like, a year..."

((Time Skippin'!))
William and his partners rode slowly through the gate into the Corps. All three of them had taken injuries in the mission, some worse than others, and were all a little sore. They had returned to the nearby village after leaving the cave. Both to inform them of the situation and to bandage up and get some rest. William stopped as he rode up to the stables. He dismounted and passed the reins to one of the stableboys who were waiting for them. "I'm gonna head on over to see Kimiko to get these wounds treated. Mathias, you should probably come with too." William said. "We'll take a couple of days to relax and then see about a new assignment."
((Wow, time skippin' just gave me a weird mental image of someone hopping along a giant clock face floating in space...))

Mathias winced as he dismounted his horse. His muscles still gave twinges of soreness, and some of his other wounds still pained him,"Yeah. Kimiko sounds like a good idea." He unlimbered his sword and shield along with his packed armor and handed them off to a groom that would see them cleaned and delivered to his rooms before heading off with William.

William and Mathias made their way across the complex to the medical building, slowly. Not for the first time William wondered who had decided that the medical building should be situated almost as far away as possible for incoming Hunters. They entered the building and navigated their way to Kimiko's office. William knocked lightly. "Come in." Kimiko's voice answered the knock. Will opened the door and led the way in. "William." Kimiko said, 'seeing' him there. "How many times must I tell you to be more careful on your missions?" "Every time. Besides, I'm mostly okay this time. It's Mathias that really needs you." Will said gesturing to his young teammate. "Honestly, you boys." Kimiko said and shook her head slightly. "Take off your shirt and sit on the table." She commanded.
((I can't remember if Mathias has been to Kimiko before. But remember that she is blind in the traditional sense.))

Mathias did as Kimiko told him. He winced as he pulled his shirt off over his head, his ribs and a few cuts protesting the movement. He hadn't ever been hurt bad enough to see Kimiko before, but Mathias had heard about the blind healer and her amazing knack for patching up wounded Hunters. Mathias hoisted himself up to sit on the table that Kimiko had indicated and waited fer her to "examine" him,"Hey, think I might get a scar or two? I hear ladies like scars."

"Some do. Personally I don't see the difference. And no, you won't have any scars when I'm done." Kimiko said and laid her hands on Mathias' chest. With her ability to see auras she could see where the damage was, but now she had to delve into the young Hunter's very essence in order to direct his spirit in how to make its body heal itself. She was quite used to this, though, and it took only a few moments before Mathias bruises started to fade, and his cuts started to heal. A few more moments and his injuries no longer existed. The downside to such miraculous and rapid healing was that it partially consumed the energy of the person being healed. After healing so many bruises and cuts the young man should have become almost entirely exhausted. "William." Kimiko said. Will stepped forward and placed a steadying hand on Mathias shoulder. He had been on the receiving end of Kimiko's unique abilities far to many times, and knew too well how tired it could make a person. "I've got him. Wanna patch me up quick too? The I'll help him to the cafeteria. I was already hungry anyways. And if Mathias here wasn't before he should sure as hell be now." Will said and lifted his shirt up with his other hand. Kimiko placed her hands on his chest and concentrated for a moment. "William!" She said in a scolding voice. "What were you doing out there that you damaged your eyes?" Will felt a mild fatigue set in as his cuts closed and his vision sharpened. He hadn't even realized that it had been blurry. "I got blinded. I guess I didn't realize that it had done any permanent damage. I was just happy when I was able to see at all again." "You boys all need to be more careful. There are some things that even I can't fix you know." "I know, Kimiko." William said softly. "You know I'll do my best to keep coming back in one solid piece. But it's a dangerous job." "You better do more than your best. Now, you two should probably get some food in your stomachs and then get some rest." "Thanks, We'll do just that."

Mathias grinned at Kimiko's words. She didn't see the difference... hardy har har. The next thing Mathias new, he was snorting awake at Kimiko's exclaimation of William's name. He had dozed off as her healing powers took affect. His sleep addled ears registered the word food and his stomach gave a lurch in agreement. Mathias slipped off the table and swayed drunkenly as he made his way toward the door. He had to turn right back around to get his shirt and slip it on,"Thanks Kimiko...yyaaawwwnnn... We'll try our best not to come back here."

William led the way from the Medical Building to the Cafeteria. He was feeling pretty tired himself and thought that a good meal and nap might be just what he needed. He led Mathias, half pulling him along, into the Cafeteria. At which point he let him go. If the kid couldn't find his own way to the food from here, well, whatever. Will made his way to the food-laden tables that were always prepared for the Hunters and Guardians. He grabbed up a large bowl and loaded it with a variety of different foods, which he topped off with a couple of different sauces. He grabbed a fork and a glass of water and plopped down at the nearest table. "Enyo. Matt. Kait." Will said to the others at the table as he began to stir all of his food together. "What's up?" "Just givin' the new guy a hard time." Matt said. William only then noticed the other person sitting at their table. He was very tall, and looked kinda thin for his height. He had copper skin and shaggy white hair. Will could clearly see the tattoo on his face. It was a stylized geometric design that ran from his forehead over his eye and down his cheek. The tattoo also served to accentuate his most striking feature. His eyes. They were golden. Just like William's right eye. "Yeah. We were just initiating him. Weren't we?" Kait said. She was seated right next to the young man and was pressed up against him, with her arm over his shoulder. The young man looked thoroughly nervous. "Anyways, Will, this is Digo. Digo, William." Matt made the introductions. "Digo, nice to meet you. And don't worry, not everyone here is as crazy as these guys." Will said to encompass the others at the table. "Some are worse..." "Hey now." Matt protested. "Nobody here's crazier than I am." He said proudly. "Nice to meet you, William." Digo said. "So, brand new to the Corps.?" Will said. "I remember those days. You'll get acclimated quick. Especially once they start assigning you missions." Digo's eyes narrowed slightly. "I look forward to it."

(( Sorry, I was away from home for twenty some days so I didn't have internet. )) When the team arrived at the Corps, Kiro was strangely quiet. He dismounted with William and Mathias, but did not follow them to visit Kimiko. Kiro had some extra business to look into so he first went back to his room. ---------- Enyo turned to William as he acknowledged her. Her eyes appeared bored as usual and an emotionless expression to match. "Back from your mission in one piece?" Enyo questioned, though the answer was apparent. She was more interested in how the newbie, Mathias, did on the mission with two veterans.

"Of course we are." William said to Enyo. "Although, admittedly, things did get a little sticky for a bit there. We made it to where the fiend was supposedly located, and dispatched it relatively easily. But that's when the second fiend ambushed us." Will took a break to take a drink. "Two fiends on a mission?" Dido questioned. "Is that something that happens often." "Kinda depends on the mission. And where it takes you." Kait piped in. "I've seen missions where we were called in to slay a single fiend and ended up battling a dozen. It's especially common with insect type fiends." "Personally I prefer to take on a single monstrously powerful fiend, instead of a bunch of tiny weak ones." Matt said. "Yeah, because your skills let you take out dozens of little guys with no effort." Kait replied. "Exactly. Takes the fun out of it." Matt said. "What kind of skills do you guys have?" Digo asked, clearly curious. "Well, I'm your standard warrior." Kait said as she sent a dagger spinning into the air. As the twirling blade came down she caught it by its point between two fingers. "Just stick 'em with the pointy end." "I'm pretty skilled in grappling, and have some weapons training." Matt said. "My greatest strength comes from this, though." He said and tapped the gem in his forehead. "Which lets me do this." He held up a fist and ignited it in flames. He let Digo get a good look and then extinguished the fire. "Wow, that's amazing!" Digo said, eyes wide. "What you, William?" "I used to have some abilities granted by an artifact my father left me. But I kinda overwhelmed it on a recent mission. I shelved it to keep it from breaking completely. So now I'm a standard warrior too. I'm actually striving to become a Blademaster." Will said. "And, you, Enyo?" Digo asked.

Enyo stared blankly at Digo and pulled how two daggers. "I use these." She answered very plainly; she decided to keep the majority of herself and her ability a secret. ------------ When Kiro got back to his room he began packing up supplies as if he were going to leave Corps. again. He stocked up on the last of his dried meat and bread and then we was out the door. Kiro went downstairs and into the Cafeteria where he saw many of his companions engaging in conversation. He remained silent and made his way through without trying to draw any attention to himself.

Mathias plopped down in a seat at the table William and the others were sitting at and clomped a plate down loudly on the table, his mouth already chewing a bite of food. The smells of the cafeteria had seemed to revive him somewhat,"Be honest, Will. You're not just a "regular" warrior. He keeps his head in a fight and has a quick wit to match any situation!" he grinned and winked at William. Mathias then turned to Digo and nodded his head,"Mathias Valenti, pleased to meet you. I'm a warrior too. Trained as a knight and soldier."
