Just then, Ulani and Ulrich came back into the kitchen.

"What's so funny?" Ulani asked, looking at Gion curiously.

Ulrich went and sat down silently and began to eat. His eyes were half-lidded; apparently his headache was still quite vivid.

Knowing Nadya she probably even has an inking of the kind of things that might happen.

Daemon mused with a chuckle.

But yes, it has been a long time since you've seen your family, and your grandmother probably has heard the rumours, it would be nice for her to know what is happening with you.

Gion looked up at Ulani and grinned, but his hands were busy with eating, and he didn't reply. Instead, he held up one finger to let her know that he would reply later on.

Aye, he replied to Daemon. And ... I also have to admit, it would be nice to see my brothers again. Not to mention, Luthien and Ruel have another kid - I haven't met Tinuviel yet.

Yes ... there were many reasons for him to visit again. But it would be only that: a visit; nothing more.

Ah yes... the little girl.
Daemon replied back understanding, after all it was big news when she was born. For good reason now that Elnara had permamently left.

That would be grand I think.

It's settled, then, Gion grinned as he finished off his plate. First thing tomorrow.

He looked up at Ulani and signed his decision to her.

Ulani agreed with Gion, it was a good idea for him to go back - and about time.

"And to make sure you're back in time," she suggested, "maybe you could travel with Ruel and Daeron when they come back next year. You would know for sure then that you wouldn't miss them - or Serenity's return."

It's been so long, granted I myself wasn't there for long.

But the when Gion had first been there discovering Daemon was the beginning of a journey. He wondered how much Gion had changed, since he himself wouldn't really notice being with the guy nearly every hour of the day. Did the things he see, the things he had learnt affect the way he was? If it did, Daemon hoped for the better.

Gion excused himself from the table and headed to the bedroom he always used when he was visiting there.

No, you weren't there long at all ... less than two weeks, if I recall correctly, he replied to Daemon. I wonder how different things will be ... quite different, I would imagine.

Six years is a long time when you still have growing siblings.

Daemon murmured in return.

Ah well... we'll see when we get there no?

Right, Gion agreed, setting his pack on the floor and slipping out of his shirt.

He was thoughtful as he lay down on the bed, setting the sword on the floor beside the bed. Mikhail will be twenty by now, he thought as he lay back. He put his hands behind his head and stared up at the ceiling. He'll be so different now ...

Another bonus of being with Daemon for so long: their bond was so close, he no longer needed to be touching the sword for them to communicate.

Oi... there's a thought. I can't imagine how much he must have grown... not just him too, but Daeron and his little brother. It might take some getting use to.

While Gion he had figured didn't change at all outwardly unless you included longer hair. Otherwise he was still the same height, a bit more weathered worn from travelling all the time, perhaps he wouldn't look so childish now that he had a body of someone who travelled a lot. If the person in question was observate enough.

Gion winced. Right ... Daeron would be what, ten by now? And Earendil ... eight. No, nine ... wow.

He chuckled inwardly, though outwardly all he managed was a smile. I guess there really is a lot to go back for. I mean, they are my only nephews right now ... and Tinuviel my only neice.

Yes....

Daemon replied in agreement.

Well then, rest up, because it's going to be a long journey back.

Gion nodded and turned over onto his side, ignoring the blanket that he was lying on. It was a hot night, midsummer: far too hot to have a blanket on, even if he would have been sleeping outside.

Good night, he thought to Daemon, closing his eyes.

Good dreams.
Was the answers that Daemon gave before settling himself into that limbo of existence for that night.
