Tut tut elfy, shouldn't be doing what you do, you'll go blind I tells ya. wink

I always disable my firewall, it makes stuff so slow xD plus my virus scan has expired too..

..it's 'cause Niphy goes on safe sites which don't need protection. I wonder what kind of naughty things 'elfy does on the internet to need such defences, hmmn? wink razz

Actually no, the sites I go aren't so dangerous that I need to have antivirus defences on at all times. Rather, the thing is that our home email address has been linked to many hundreds of online scammers and hackers, who send dozens of spam emails to me every day. A few actually contain attachments of viruses that spread as soon as I go to read these emails. I was quite foolish for doing such a thing.

User Image

This is weird.

Someone in an MSN convo wrote:

"Is this you in the pic?"

With a link.

When I clicked on the link, this random s**t came up,

And signed me out of MSN.

All these programs popped up as well.

Sin was like: "Wtf??" And started deleting them.

Signing in on MSN again, another three windows pop up.

Window one: Labelled 'Project 1'; states: Runtime error 43O.

Class does not support Automation or does not support expected Interface.

Window 2: Same as window 1.

Window 3: COuld not send report error 43O.

And THEY KEEP ON EFFING POPPING UP.

I now have like, 28 of them on me desktop bar kinda thing.

It`s so weird..

Screenshot.

Looks like you fell for the same trick I did when my comp got infected by the virus: some creep has locked onto to your email and sneekily pretended to show you something important. Then you dumbly open the attachment link and now there's a virus multiplying itself on your computer.

Tosh: Okay, let's see how you would react if a hacker gets hold of your address, sends you an email that looks likes it's from a friend of yours, with a link to an attachment to photos or something that's actually a virus in disguise. Or you get an email with a title that says something like 'URGENT MESSAGE' that makes you think it's something important. The virus I got actually installed itself the moment I clicked to view the email.

Looks like elfy is probably right about the viruses. If I were you sin, I'd run a couple of antivirus scanners like AVG or avast to try and flush the virus out as soon as possible.

Okay guys, calm..

@789 - Those are just normal spam, not from certain people but automatically sent.. everyone gets them. Just block the address (if you're using hotmail I'm sure there's an option to "block addresses ending with @-----.com").

@Sin - Mmn, I got one of those once, just go on a site which lets you d'load free stuff to kill viruses.. that's what I did. Oh, and never ever ever open MSN pics without confirming like.. twice, or something.

@'elfy - Silly elf. Who do you know in real life who would actually make the subject of an email "urgent message"? It's like something you get in TV or films.. not real life razz

@Sin: Yeh. It's a virus. If you get it, you send the same thing to everyone on your contact list (without knowing) and it's a never ending cycle. =O

@Elf: Eh. Tosh doesn't wanna argue with you right now. =/ But you are still stoopid

I've never really gotten any spam mail, only mail from companies I actually want mail from like Download.com, eBay and Amazon to name a few. Even when I check my junk email box there's usually nothing in there. :3

Hey, just because hardly anyone actually sends a legit email with an urgent message in it doesn't mean that a few of them might not actually be relevant. Normally I do delete spam emails straight away but some inevitably catch my interest. sweatdrop
