3: You reach a tiny tree and it looks up at you and only has a row of smiling teeth. "Guess what I'm hiding!"
If you cater to it then it tells you "I'm hiding something in my mouth!" It sticks out its mouth and lo and behind it is a fragment! +1 Fragment.
Not far into the woods, he came across a tiny tree. He might have walked right on past it, had the thing not actually moved and looked up at him. That it then began to speak only made him bend down to be closer to the plant's level. He lifted a pale brow. "Alright. I'll humor you. What have you? A bird?" He'd half expected one to fly out of the tree for how it laughed. Telling him such was not the case--about the bird anyways--it exclaimed it had something in its mouth. Burn was left in the dark for only half a second about how a tree could have a maw before one opened up...
And out was spat a glistening fragment. Amused, he retrieved the fragment, turning it over in his hands before lifting a brow again at the tiny tree. "What a pleasant thing you hide. My thanks," he added, tipping his hat to the tree before moving to his feet. He had more trees to meet, it seemed.

My character's username: BridgesBurn My character's level: 1 Character's HP: 30/30 Character's Job Class: Gryphon Current party: N/A Current Guild: N/A Location: Tulgey Woods Small IC description of character:
A tall man, his skin is dark and eye a bright gold color. Two sets of black horns curve upward from a mass of curly, short-cut pale hair. BridgesBurn has taken on a Gryphon coat of black and gold accents. The black and gold hat is accented by a golden feather. A loose white shirt can be seen under the coat, along with red pants and a heavy brown belt. An eyepatch over his right eye completes the look.
Crazy dreams had been a constant since the destruction of the isles, so the mare thought nothing of it when a trip down a hole landed her somewhere strange. Insanity tainted her mind, her body, her entire being. This was nothing new. She was no stranger to madness.
So she took a drink from the bottle, and she followed along as she was guided, though her mood deteriorated progressively as she went. knowing nothing of video games or human bedtime stories this was all a mystery to her. A strange, unnerving, oddity.
But she picked a name for herself, a reflection of her most startling feature, and a woeful warble of opera. Heterchromaggia. It wasn't pretty sounding, but than neither was her true name. It did not matter, it was a name, and it would do. Job classes perplexed her, least until she associated them to the roles the clansmen took within their respective clans. In waking a priestess, but here..
There was only one option that truly fit, and she would embrace it. From rag-edged coat, to lace veil hat, to the manic flash of teeth in half crazed grin. She was Mad, so she would be a Hatter.
But even claiming a name, a role, did not bring any sort of clarity, and even here, in the brightly colored world with it's senseless physics. She was moody as she approached the sign post, irritated as it began to speak to her, and down right miffed as it boldly sought to assign her a task. Her?! Priestess of Death, being bossed about by a sign post!
It was the promise of power that saw her into the woods and their twisting trees.
A skinny sort called out to her, and when she turned it presented her with a question. One that had silver brows arching before missmatched eyes narrowed. With a curl of her lip she snapped back a very stubborn and resolute "No." To which the tree attempted to gloat about, but she didn't hear what it said, she had already started walking away.
The calculations drawn into the dirt beneath it's branches had gone unnoticed.

Small and dark, from ashen skin to jet black coat. The hatter was utterly monochromatic. A tiny hat rested on silver hair at a slant, a veil of lace draped over half her face. Grey corset cinched a narrow waist, dark leggings wrapped equally dark legs and disappeared into shiny black boots. The only spot of color was the eerie golden glow of her right eye. I'm mad, you're mad. We're all mad here.
The rat stared up at all the signs with distaste. None of these things told him anything nor gave him any treasure. He was already starting to feel frustrated. He only had three trees left and not a single shard.
He caught sight of a horned guy making out with a shard and made a face. Now that was even remotely fair. He'd check out that tree after him.
He sucked in a cough to talk instead, "You must be good if you already got one of them. I keep getting the most confusing trees."

Somehow Maggie had gotten turned around somewhere and had had to double back. When she passed the very same tree a second time it tried to question her again, but she stormed past it without so much as a word.
Only a vicious little growl, petite figure stalking off like an angry little grey storm.

"Such an oddly colored tree. What can I do for you?" He listened to the tree's request and shook it as hard as he could while trying not to have his hat fall off. The colors spread even more on the tree, he smiled for a moment then wondered why the tree was laughing. Then it hit him, a small fragment stuck to his face as the tree spit it out at him in thanks. "Ew.... Tree spit." He wiped it off of his face then put the fragment in his pocket before continuing on his journey.

8: You reach a tree with stripes. Trees with stripes, how silly!
"I beg your pardon," says the tree with stripes, "but I am not silly at all. In here everything is possible and anything is impossible and therefore a tree with stripes is completely within everything and anything." Its stripes change colours. "Now, give me a good, good shake. I want to get some more colour out. Shake me really well, if you do I'll reward you."
If you shake the tree it laughs happily and then spits out a fragment. It bids you your merry way as you continue walking. +1 fragment.
Upon wheeling about on her heel, however, she realized that the tree had not really disappeared, it had merely relocated. Well that was frustrating... Incredibly so, actually.
She still didn't put her hand in its nose, however. This time she gave it a swift kick (+1 experience) and mumbled that it had better learn to stay gone. Disgusting tree.

2: The second tree is a wide tree and doesn't look too happy to see you. It crosses its arms. "I don't think so, the last people who were here were terribly mean about it. Terribly, terribly mean and it just won't do anymore. If you come any closer I will have to resort to violence I mean it! Don't come any closer!"
If you move closer it hits you for -5 damage with its branches.
His first encounter with a tree had clearly blinded him to how hostile they could be. The first had been playful, but generous. It'd given him a fragment! Why he expected his other encounters to go so warmly, he wasn't sure. Yet as he began to approach another, this time much larger tree, he barely paused as it crossed its arm-like limbs. That it spoke about others being mean only had him shrug. "I'm not them. Why judge me on actions I've yet tae commit?" It was sound logic to him. The tree on the other hand began to get louder, shriller. He slowed only when he realized it was uncurling its branches to start swatting at him. Which, by that time, he'd only seen with his un-patched eye.
The one with the patch didn't catch how it was already sending a large branch his way. The wind ran out of him in a rush at the impact to his side, backing up quickly to avoid further damage. "Blasted thing, go burn," he snarled, rolling the shoulder on the side that'd been hit. Getting hit counted as going up to it, right? It'd better. He wasn't getting any closer.
When a new voice met his ears, Burn turned with a scowl to the source. A.... rat.... rabbit? He wasn't sure which he was, but decided it didn't much matter for the moment. His little observation received a snort from the large male. "Not good enough, it'd seem," he grumbled, glaring again to the tree that'd struck him. "Watch yourself 'round that one."

The next tree she attempted to speak with wasn't half so chatty as the first. In fact it seemed quite opposed to any form of interaction. It was a thick willow, heavy with branches, and as she neared those branches swung out to push her back and away. A second try yielded a similar result. As did a third.
Finally, with a sigh, she forces forced to move on.
Apparently the willow was as antisocial as she felt. She couldn't say that she blamed it.

"NO U." Natt shot back again, very helpfully, and wiped off the remainder of the muck on her own jacket. Being ignored didn't seem to bother her, either. She simply trailed him like an obnoxious shadow, looking around the scenery and inspecting any other tree she came across.
"YOU WEREN'T VERY THOROUGH." She commented, watching him as he searched and gave up faster than she could recite her name. "YOU'RE S'POSED TO GET ON THE GROUND AND S---OH LOOK I SEE AN EXIT!" Mirroring his earlier attention span, the ghoul pointed a ways away, and was suddenly turning on her heal to march in the direction she had seen.

She had reached the end of the line, or at least so it seemed, the final tree looming ahead of her as she wondered the age old question of which way to go next.
It seemed as though she had several options, judging by the array of signs posted on the three. Together they read 'This way to Nowhere and Everywhere' but as each word was on its own particular sign she wasn't sure if they were meant to be read together or not. If she were somewhere that made sense she would have assumed that Nowhere and Everywhere were her options... But this place was so peculiar.
"Which way is And?" She murmured, more to herself than to anyone at all. "Hmm..." Fingers tapped lightly on her lower lip as she pondered. "No, I don't think I'll go there, especially not if I can't get there clearly. Everywhere it is!"

Clearly this tree isn't as kind as when the other approached it. It began to swat at him and he barely rolled out of the way in time. His eyes wide, nose twitching from surprise. What in the blazes?
"Easy now," He said holding up his hands but all he got was another near swipe. "Alright, I get it. You don' have anything I want." He wasn't in the mood for a fight. No one told him treasure hunting was going to take effort.

The mare had come to stop in front of a stripped tree. Stripped? That just seemed kind of-
"I beg your pardon," says the tree with stripes, "but I am not silly at all. In here everything is possible and anything is impossible and therefore a tree with stripes is completely within everything and anything." Its stripes change colours. "Now, give me a good, good shake. I want to get some more colour out. Shake me really well, if you do I'll reward you."
The hatter deadpanned, staring with narrowed eyes at the request. It was the promise of a reward that got her to step forward and wrap her hands around the trunk, and she dug into the ever deepening pit of anger and despair to muster up enough strength to give the tree a mighty shake. Hard enough that she managed to dislodge something from the higher up branches. A shining, glittering something that was quickly tucked into a pocket.

Willard glared at the willow tree. Alright, this one would be it. He made a face and started to strut toward it. He was gonna get something this time. He barely got two feet in when the first leaves hit him. "Hey!" He snapped but all he got was anther round of battering leaves until he covered his head and left it.
This was not what he wasn't sure he signed up for. He huffed at it and wiped at his face. One more tree and he was done with this quest.
He glanced to the other that had spoken to him and made a face. "You're telling me! All mine have beaten me right up. This is hardly worth a bit of treasure."

6: You reach a long, slender tree and it looks quite ordinary. "Hello," says the long slender tree. "I have a small question. I have two friends, Dilly, Milly, and Nilly. Nilly is taller than Dilly, but shorter than me. Dilly is shorter than Milly but taller than me. How tall am I?"
If you answer as truthfully as you can the tree says "No, why, I do not think that's the answer at all. You are very wrong."
The next tree he came across was at least slightly better than the violent one. Slightly. It was a lesser of two evils. Or so he thought. Then the thing began to speak. His eyes shut briefly, one corner of his mouth twitching downward ever so slightly. Of all the things to be asked... by a tree no less.... After letting it prattle on, he opened his eyes and scowled at the thing. "How'm I tae ken? You mentioned three, not two." He ran the facts over in his head before shrugging, "Taller than Nilly." It was true. This tree's height was greater than this Nilly's, going off the facts the thing had stated. The tree seemed to become a might offended by this, telling him he was wrong. He gave a snort. "Then don't bother asking me."
At least he seemed to fair a hair better than the rabbit. He cast a brief, almost sympathetic look towards the other, watching the willow wave its branches and leaves. "All these trees seem tae have a problem." He paused, eyeing the strange riddle one. "Or more. Beginnin' tae understand the sign saying it wouldnae be such an easy task." He still had two more to locate. "You almost out?"
