Shortstraw ran things though his head again, and again and again. He was thinking so hard he passed out. He was helpless, and unsure of reasion. Too many questions, too many things to worry about... too much stress he was supprized his heart didn't pop. Veria watched helplessly and closed the door the rest of the way. She sat on her bed and looked out the window. "Nature, nurture, heaven and home..." She begain to sing, "some of all and by them driven...to conqure every mountain shown, but ive never crossed river..." she begain.

Amelie took a few steps back and looked to Yang with daggers in her eyes. "What lies have you been telling her." Yang shrugged. "Only words of truth. Now leave us. We were in the middle of something before you rudely interrupted." Amelie growled more. "I'm not letting you go through with this." She looked to Ying. "You either." Yang laughed a little to start, which grew into a great roar of laughter. "You think you can stop us now." Yang brought out a dagger and cut her own palm. "We're too strong for you, Amelie. When we're together we'll be stronger than everyone." Amelie clenched her fists. "Please Kiera..." She looked desperately to Ying. Ying looked back with the same indifference in the same attitude that she had several years ago. Yang reached down to Ying's palm and cut her palm too. "KIERA THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE DOING FOR ******** SAKE!" Amelie screamed. Ying glanced down to her own palm just as Yang was about to place her own over it. Ying snatched her hand away and stood up. "No.." Yang stared, confused. "Not yet... I'm not tired anymore." Amelie sighed as her head dropped a little but Ying walked over to her and held her up by her neck. "I told you once before that if I saw you again I would kill you." Amelie coughed. "There's not much point in that, is there?" Ying grinned and tossed Amelie aside. "Scuttle back to your hole." Amelie disappeared from sight, and Yang slung herself over Ying's shoulders. "That's my girl~! I'm proud of you, dollface."

Veria's vioce, her lovly sining vioce ang more, as she got up and traced her hands of the walls of the room and soon entered the hallway, however she walked ever so slowly... "Brave the forest, brave the stone Brave the icy winds and fire Braved and beat them on my own Yet I'm helpless by the river..."

Ying rubbed her face. "I'd like to be alone for a moment." Yang was confused but nodded anyway. "All right. You still seem pretty ill. I'll go and get you a drink." Yang said before disappearing out of the room. Ying sat down on the couch and looked to her palm. Just what was she doing? Was this really what she wanted? She was so tired before and Yang was the only one who seemed to be there. She didn't know what Shortstraw was thinking. And honestly just over the past few days she wanted to be near. Now there was something in her chest that wanted her to be as far away from him as possible. It didn't feel natural. But for now she would be guided by Yang for a while. Just like things used to be.

But was it the right thing to do? Ying still wasn't sure on all of Yang's intentions but to make her stronger and no longer weak. That wasn't all what Ying wanted, but it might have had to do for now. It was complicated. She was complicated. And just then she decided a few things. She wasn't going to get involved ever again. She wasn't going to make people's lives harder, complicate things further. She'd done enough damage already. And hopefully now this was the end of it. She hoped. She didn't want to cause any more pain. It was a quiet and empty night. Yang and Ying stayed up until all hours, Yang told Ying so many stories and reasons and things she probably already knew. But Ying liked to listen to her talk. Someone else taking the reigns. Someone else taking responsibility and doing everything they could to please her. It felt good.

Veria stepped bast shortstraw and glanced to him as she continued, "Pay no mind to the battles you've won It'll take a lot more than rage and muscle Open your heart and hands my son Or you'll never make it over the river..."

In the morning, Kiera woke up in her room. In her bed. She had the sudden sense of nostalgia, feeling like she was 13 again and living with everyone. She half expected Yuji to come barging through her door and announcing that it was breakfast. She half expected to smell the sweet aroma of pancakes that Hikari would be making downstairs. She half expected to hear Amelie and Hikari arguing over how much blood Amelie was allowed to have for the day. She half expected to see Asher at the foot of her bed and Paradioa at the side. She half expected these things because she wished they were true. Although the one side of her knew they weren't. Which it was then when she noticed. She was a whole person. There was no Ying and Yang. Just one whole Kiera. She didn't remember this from the night before, or maybe that was the point. Kiera slowly edged out of her old bed and glanced around herself. She was alone.

Into the night veria stepped downthe stairs of the main lobby... "It'll take a lot more than words and guns A whole lot more than riches and muscle The hands of many must join as one And together we'll cross the river" And finally she stepped outside, and looked up to the sky as she sang the final verse: 'It'll take a lot more than words and guns A whole lot more than riches and muscle The hands of many must join as one Open your heart and hands my son Or you'll never make it over the river'
*In the moirning Shortstraw woke up to find a large imprint on his face form the table. He was cold, he was alone. He was deppressed. He looked sadly to the floor and slowly got up as he headed down the stairs and out to the outside world, but there as he walked out Veria was layed back useing her arms to supprot her up, "Moring Mr woe as me." She looked to him, "strangly i don't see you go any further. Do you?" He looked tot he snow covered ground, "i don't know. Part of me wants to leave, part of me wants to stay... but i don't know." She nodded and looked back up, "It's amazing how snow forms. Little flakes that are frozen in the cloads between rain water and temrature. But when they fall, and drift on down to us they have no direct path and they land on the ground. After they are ont eh ground, they stack up and form together to make snow. That white ice that layers everything. Something one little snowflake could never do alone..." she replied softly as she looked othe whiteness of the early still morning.

Kiera was about to move out of the room. She was blocked by a figure. Asher, her human form. As if she needed her right now. "And where do you think you're going?" Kiera glanced lazily to Asher but stopped right in front of her. "Let me past. I'm thirsty." Asher looked very seriously to Kiera. "I mean after that." Kiera blinked slowly. "I'm going to the Seraphim prison to confess for my crimes." Asher's eyes narrowed. "Ah yes, you did kill the Seraphim boss." Kiera was about to shove past her but Asher blocked her way again. "We had a deal, Kiera." Kiera looked unfazed. "Things change. Surely you know that better than anyone." Asher snickered. "I suppose you're right there. But I'm not going to let you hand yourself in. You'll probably be given a death sentence. Either that or you'll rot in those prison cells. You did so much to clear your name." Kiera held the indifferent expression. "Nothing matters anymore. I'm not getting involved with any of you. I'm not ruining anything for any of you. I won't be a pain any more." Asher slammed her hand against the door frame. "Will you just shut up with all your righteous bullshit?!" Kiera looked mildly alarmed although made a soft noise of impatient disbelief. "Please just let me atone for myself." Asher calmly sighed down to the floor. "This isn't what your alter ego would have wanted, was it?" "I'm balanced now." She was quick to reply.

*Shortstraw looked to his feet. "But when i walk i crush the snow. And when the sun comes out, it melts." He replied. Veria nodded, "But yet ever year it comes back. No never the same exacly. Like time it repeats itself. It melts and comes agian, and the process repeats. Are you angry shortstraw?" She asked. He looked up to her slowly, "i don't know." She looked to him, "are you afrade?" He looked down, "yes." She nodded, "Then go back inside. Sometimes you have to wait things out. Isn't that what you told yourself last night?" He looked to her, "i can't." she giggled, "Can't or wont?" He looked out to the stores now opening and the people now starting to awake. "I dont know."

Asher stared at Kiera for a moment before she opened the way to let her past. "Fine. Fine. I'm done trying to keep you from doing stupid things." Kiera looked to her with a plain expression before she continued down the hall. "Tell Shortstraw I'm sorry." Asher turned to watch her walk down the stairs. "Sorry for what?" Kiera stopped in the middle of the stairs. "For dragging him into my life." She continued down the stairs and into the kitchen, where she got a glass of water to drink. Just as she was about to walk out of the front door, Asher stood at the top of the stairs. "Is this really what you think will solve everything, Kiera?" Kiera looked to the bottom of the stairs then blinked a few times. "No." Kiera disappeared, leaving Asher almost distraught. Urgh, maybe she shouldn't have let her slip through her fingers like that.

*Veria hopped down to him. "In my vision a long time ago, when we met you. When i started to have my crush on you, this was the moment i was suppost to take you for myself. This is when i was finally to take you and make you my man instead. But i have a sense of change in that. I have seen and learned many from you. And i will not make you do anything. Infact, i cannot. Will not. Not till things are right again." He looked to her, "right again?" She giggled and walked passed him and into the house, "Sure is cold out here isn't it." He turned back to see just the door behind him. He looked down to his hands. He then looked up. He still had one promes he wanted to make above all others. No matter if he lost keria, or all of these in his life. It was a personal matter. He took a deep breath and looked to the window aboove himto find veria looking down at him. He nodded, "thanks veria. Tell everyone they can go home, and do what they want. I'll see them when i'm done." A vioce entered his head, "Go get him."

Prophet then saw Zemu and Connor follow the others, but Prophet wasn't thinking of going back. He then channged into his human form, and said, to Connor, "Hey, Connor." Connor turned back and asked, "What?" Prophet went up to him and said, "I'm sorry, but I've got to stay with Shortstraw, make sure Zemu is safe while I'm gone." Connor put his right fist on his chest and said, "You have my word, Prophet." Prophet patted his shoulder, and turned back towards Shortstraw.

After dark, Kiera returned back to the castle. She didn't know what she was expecting. Maybe she thought Asher was going to still be there. But of course she wasn't. She kept yearning to go and hand herself in the whole day while she was out. But she ended up not being able to do it. Not yet, anyway. Instead she spent the whole day in the woods, doing what she always used to do so many years ago. Then she went to Felixstowe, the old home of Cyril and Amnesia. The place was actually rather beautiful now. Everything was grown over and sparkling in different varieties of flowers. She felt more at home there than she did at the castle. But she couldn't stay there. When she shut the door behind her she went up to her room and curled in her bed. Maybe she wished she could sleep forever and wipe away her sins.
