"But I'm just a monk. What would I know about relationships?" Illo couldn't help chuckling at himself here. Deciding that this was a deadend conversation, Illo shifted topics again.
"So, what brought you to Shibusen in the first place? I'm afraid you already know why I'm here." It seemed unavoidable, the topic of work, but at least Illo could find a degree of separation in Mira's schooling. "I won't lie, the lessons they teach fascinate me. It's like you actually think death is the end of---" Illo stopped himself, remembering something he'd long forgotten so profoundly that he wasn't even aware that he'd forgotten it. The age old doctrine: Death is an illusion.

NPC Mira Naigus Intelligence Bureau Headmaster "Nothing special to be honest."Mira answered the monk. "I just came here like most of the people of my generation. We were promised we could do good to this word should we pledge out talents to DMWA, where we would control our powers instead of fear them.
At first everything seemed to be okay, but to be fair I always expected that to crumble down the moment we were assigned for missions. We were supposed to do good to this world but only Death knows how much blood have we spilled from both sides, good ones and bad ones alike. War after war where it seemed we'll be caught on an endless struggle, part of me still believes we are... maybe that's why I can't bring myself to fully trust witches and demons despite out alliance.
In the end I understood we could indeed do good for this world but in exchange it would cost us our humanity in the process. That pretty much summed up how I got to be the headmaster."Mira commented, pausing only to get a taste of her carrot cake. A sip from her coffee and she was ready to continue. "More over I learned not to be attached to people, mostly because they would depart some day. However bot, Sid and You prove me wrong on this over and over. It's not bad to be attached to people. It's bad to rather have lingering feelings hold you down. If you don't accept them they won't go away, the won't pass and let you be. Like the flow of the river, you must acknowledge water and let it flow, not try to fight it off yourself. or it would keep you from achieving greater things."

Needless to say Illo was a little worried hearing most of what Mira had to say. It wasn't until she got to the bit about he and Sid changing her mind on being so cold that he started to approve, showing it with a small smile.
"I'm glad we could change your mind on at least that," said the monk tapping the edge of his cup, "but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want you to embrace a few truths."
"You see," began the monk no longer able to avoid talking about one of his favorite stories, "this question of eternal war, suffering guilt, it isn't a new question in the least. When Arjuna asked Krishna what he should do, whether or not he should go to war with his brothers, Krishna surprisingly enough tells him over and over to go through with it. He says that it is because it is his duty, his dharma, that he must fight."
"My dharma is different from yours, and that is different from the dharmas of the staff here. Do you suppose you could change your dharma simply because you do not like it? If we all decided to abandon our dharma, where would the world be? If you think about it, people like you hold the world together because they're the only ones who are strong enough to do the hard tasks." Illo paused to take a sip of his tea.
"... That said, I've killed plenty of demons in my time." That little smirk he had told the world Illo was in on some huge joke that no one else was.
"So, you know about my fight with Cynthia. How'd you hear about that?"

Suppose the Gita wasn't for everyone. Plenty of analysts have come to a similar conclusion as Mira, and so Illo let it go with a sip of his slightly burned tea. The austerities this man endured would surely live on in infamy!
"Is that right? Well, I must say I don't like the sound of that." Even now Illo was protecting Melanie. "... Although," he said more to himself at first, "I may be partly to blame for her defeat. If I'd let her fight more she might have become stronger." This was one of the challenges of being too strong: was it actually worth it? Did it help to bail everyone out all the time in the long run?

NPC Mira Naigus Intelligence Bureau Headmaster "It goes way back, Melanie attacked her niece and ever since then Cynthia had grown not really fond of Melanie."Mira replied. "But that doesn't matter anymore."She added, trying to end said topic. Going over Illo's doubt of his training on her partner. Mira would reach out for the monk's shoulder as she gave him a stern look. "I can assure you, because of you, if she lasted this long, was because of you. Otherwise, she would had died long ago. I'm sure she helds no regrets on your relationship."

Illo was taken back to that night when he was forced to put Cynthia out of commission for a while. It was regrettable, but necessary given the situation. Still, it wouldn't be counted with the glorious victories he'd thrown over his shoulder like a sweat towel in the past.
His eyes went down for a moment when Mira consoled him about Melanie. For whatever reason this was the type of treatment that hurt the most. ... But, being the man he was, Illo decided that it would be part of his new doctrine not to focus on such things, for worrying about the opinions and sorrow of others was what had distracted him from his training for far too long. He had something to prove, after all.
"Thanks," said the monk placing his hand on top of Mira's. "I'm glad you're so good at your job." Letting her hand go, the monk finally found a smile to show the headmaster.
"That's enough sulking for one night. On the forty-ninth day I will give her proper remembrance." This was customary in Taoist traditions, and seeing as Illo felt Melanie had the strongest connection to the Way he would honor this by giving her a proper Taoist service.
"I'm curious. You know a lot, it's your job, but I can't help but wonder what it says in my file. ... If it's not off limits."

NPC Mira Naigus Intelligence Bureau Headmaster "I know nothing your former superiors would not want me to know."Mira replied while taking his invitation to leave the sulking behind. Finding amusing that the monk would like to honor her partner, not that she would make fun of it but though of it as a good reaction, which eased her mind. "But if you're ever willing to share a thing or two, I would gladly file it for you."She teased, of course she knew a few things about the monk, but that was confidential, as it was everyone's secret that had the misfortune of falling on her hands. But as such she would guard them with her life, her Dharma if you could tall it that.

"In that case..." Here the monk laid out some stories. Whever Mira would suggest that she knew the event Illo would move on to something else. He found that this was someone he could trust, and as such needed to know the true versions of the legends. Everything from the details of training in the cave to the first meeting with Ren was covered. By the time he was finished his tea had grown cold.
"And it was there that I journeyed into Bardo again... I'm sorry," said Illo noticing how long he'd been talking, "you must be tired of these by now."

NPC Mira Naigus Intelligence Bureau Headmaster ((weird, I could have sworn I had replied to this already ¬¬)) "not at all, it's better than to wander blinded by the uncertainty of now knowing wether what's being told about the subject is true or not"Answered Mira, unlike Illo she did drink her coffee and ate her cake while listening and making mental notes here and there. Only to take her notebook and pen after finishing to start writing on some notes on the subject. "Seems to me you've already become a celebrity, wether that was your goal from the beginning or not."

Illo nodded, studying Mira's choice in words carefully. When he'd given them their proper airing time in his mind he spoke again, remaining ever polite as he was trained.
"You may be right, but that's more of a curse for me. " He waved the waitress over and asked for the check as he said this, fishing some coins out of his robe to give her for her hard work.
"Suppose you have to go to work now, huh?" He said while getting up with a nice stretch.

NPC Mira Naigus Intelligence Bureau Headmaster "I understand it is sometimes more of a burden, but even burden could be considered a power. so use it wisely. It is you who mold that power after all, not the other way around."Said Mira while he was kind and quick enough to pay for the bill before she could even pick her purse. As expected from the phoenix. Mira chuckled at his next approach. "Work's never over. Not on my division at least. But, I believe you know how does that feel don't you? Still it was nice to get a breathe out of routine. Thank you."

"I see what you mean, finally," admitted the monk. "... You've grown wise, Mira." A powerful gust of wind smacked the window soon after the monk had said this, filling the room with an urgent energy, as if there was some great torch being offered to the headmaster of the intelligence agency now. But in spite of this Illo simply bid adieu to Mira and retired for the night, feeling quite drained himself. Tomorrow, as they say, would be a new day, but for the moment Illo'd run out of toughness to display Mira and needed to lick his wounds in private.

NPC Mira Naigus Intelligence Bureau Headmaster The Phoenix would bring his mystical wind. But it was harder to deceive the headmaster's eyes. Even for a legend. As soon as he passed her, just before he could step out, a pair of arms captured the phoenix and pulled him back. Quite a rare sight for Mira to display affection. As she was often referred as the ice queen given the cold heart she needed to take the hardest of choices. However, there she was now, holding the phoenix tightly. "Take care of yourself."As she bid him farewell as well, she would release the Phoenix's wings, allowing him to fly away from her side. But to her belief. Even legends needed to be shown compassion. Soon after, she would leave as well. [Exit Mira.]
