Hey, I've got a list that I'd like some feedback on. We've played it out a few times and it seems to work better than the one that we -did- have... But I'd like to have some advice that -doesn't- come from my husband.

***HQ***
Canoness, Power Sword, Inferno Pistol - 90pts

***TROOPS***
Superior, Bolt Pistol, Chainsword
Battle Sisters Squad, Flamer, Heavy Flamer, Rhino** (Dedicated Transport, Storm Bolter) - 185pts

Superior, Plasma Pistol, Chainsword
Battle Sisters Squad, Melta, Multi-Melta - 160pts

***DEDICATED TRANSPORT***
Immolator, Twin-Linked Multi-Melta - 80pts
Rhino, Storm Bolter - 35pts** (REPEAT, counted only once)

***HEAVY SUPPORT***
Penitent Engine - 85pts

Total - 600pts

What do you guys think?
How many are in each squad? I take it the Immy is for the second one?

Battle Sisters x9 with a Superior for a total of ten

and the Immolator is there to house the Canoness. They cannot deploy together, I know, but she floats around in the Immolator after deploy during the first turn. They in turn, (The Rhino, and Immolator) go in front of the PE, to take direct fire. -noddle-

I'd attach the Canoness to the squad on foot and use the Immolator on its own as a tank / heavy support choice, not a transport, which would be a great boon to your list if you roll up the mission Big Guns Never Tire (Heavy Support choices can also claim objectives). But other than that, I'd leave it as is, it has a good blend of anti-tank and anti personal weapons that should do the trick just fine. It can pop those rare cases of AV 14 that has your hubby shitting them bricks, plus it can put the hurt on MSU's and smaller horde formations. You may not be in the best position to charge, or receive one, but that's what his cannonfodder is for.

I'd say put it through the grinder a good few more times and keep playing practice games! User Image

Hmm, is there a FAQ entry I'm missing? I don't see how an Immolator can be taken as a Heavy Support choice. sweatdrop

The game against Huron was when the guy brought a fun list with Huron, twenty cultists, two five-man teams of termies, two land raiders, two oblits and a fortress of redemption plus krak storm missiles. When he blew away my only meltaguns on turn one it was already game over.

Necrons was something of a pity battle maybe, as my defeat helped give the newer player more confidence and drive to play more in the campaign. Made me hate Necrons something fierce though, but whatever, someone came away happy.

Today was against daemons, where I managed to kill a winged daemon prince (first blood) and that was it. At the end of turn six all I had left was a lone company commander. Oh well.

Three losses in three days, the cherry on top is when they sit you down and wonder if it might be better if you were to play something else instead.

Riiiiiight, they're no longer choices on their own, that does suck. Apologies.

Have you considered playing team matches with an ally?

Right now I'm probably not popular enough, plus too big a losing streak to be considered proper buddy material by the other players. We'll see, I'm going to give Dark Angels a try for the time being, proxying them with Elysians and other Guard models.

So, I'm going to be fielding this:

HQ.
Company Commander - Artificer armour, power weapon, plasma pistol 140
Librarian - Psychic mastery level 2 100

Elites.
Dreadnought - Extra armour, heavy flamer 120
Dreadnought - Extra armour, twin-linked heavy bolter 115

Troops.
Tactical Squad (10) - Veteran sergeant, plasma gun, heavy bolter 175
Tactical Squad (10) - Veteran sergeant, 2x meltagun 170

Fast Attack.
Nephilim Jetfighter - Avenger mega bolter 180

1000

And for the bigger games..

HQ.
Company Commander - Artificer armour, power weapon, plasma pistol 140
Librarian - Psychic mastery level 2 100

Elites.
Dreadnought - Extra armour, heavy flamer 120

I'm a fan of the list as I mentioned before. I think the Dreadnoughts are amazingly flexible platforms for wreaking destruction, and well armored to boot.

Might I suggest you make the Fighter have the twin-linked Lascannon instead? I find that a very effective tank hunter, mostly when the Flyer gets +1 to BS against pretty much all ground targets (except Skimmers and flying base models). Not only that, but you can turn a weapon damage result to a Immobilize. I personally had my Flyer go for 3 turns straight killing two big things. A Venerable Dreadnought and a Forgefiend. It also grounded a winged Hive Tyrant as well.

I could actually use some advice for building a good army. I only really own a fair amount of Space Marines, if anyone would be willing to give me some advice I could tell you what I got.

I've already built it with the Avenger, though I could always point it out before the match, though I rather specifically built it to deal with infantry and other flyers.
